Clean, safe, easy to understand everything, and great amenities

I had a fantastic time here. I learned about capsule hotels 24 years ago, and always wanted to try! As a tall (192cm/6´4") man I expected I would be uncomfortable due to my size, but it was very comfortable and better than expected. I got the slightly bigger unit so i could get a desk, but will choose regular size next time. I really enjoyed my stay and will use capsule hotels in the future for sure! Highly recommend this hotel. The staff was very hospitable and the onsen was very nice too! 10/10 experience

I like everything about it. Its my first time to try a capsule and i really liked it a lot. The facilities are outstanding and the area is so accessible. I would definitely come back here again

The baths were awesome

It was surprising. I booked it for the onsen. The onsen actually had a lot of personal care brands for hair and body. Breakfast, and midnight snacks are covered. Also, soup for 24 hrs. And unlimited drinks, especially coke products. The capsule rooms are spacious, too. The location is also really near the shopping district. The location is also bustling with a lot of small local restaurants.

This was an awesome capsule hotel, I stayed for one night just for the experience. I wish I had longer to enjoy all they had to offer. Price included food and drinks! Amazing range of beauty products in the bathroom and onsen, even had hair straighteners. The onsen also had a sauna and hot stone room and a seperate shower. No need to bring your pjs even these are provided. Shoes off at the door into a lock box, slip into slippers. Scanner bracelet to get into sleeping and onsen for security purpose, is efficient and safe! The sleeping area is noisy so do bring your earplugs or just ask the desk. All staff were very helpful and kind. Highly recommend!!

Bed is comfortable, everything is super clean, breakfast and evening soup served for free, tons of sightseeing from 5 min walk to 30min walk. Subway super close. Staff is extremely kind. Lockers are big and can easily fit a carry-on and even more. Really really nice capsule hotel!

Great authentic experience sleeping in a capsule. The hotel is absolutely great, so many free amenities and a great spa! Location is also super close to everything in walking distance.

Super conveniently located in a great shopping, dining and transit area. Very close to Gion. Unfortunately it was a bit too smelly and stuffy for me. Dormitory areas were very large with too many ppl IMO. Staff was fantastic, super helpful and friendly! First hostel experience where guests don't really talk to each other though and surprisingly people were up, showering, grooming at all hours of the night so it did get noisy and couldn’t sleep through the night sometimes.

The massage chairs are a bit old but that is only a personal preference

Clean, quiet, free drinks, free bathroom/ shower accessories. Helpful, very nice staff even if English is not easy for them they will try the best for you. Sharing open woman showers, only one private one.

The Onsen style experience is unique, and the place itself was good. Just be aware that your experience will be greatly affected by the presence other guests. Including snoring, moving around at night, and phone alarms going off during sleep hours. With how many tourists there are in Kyoto currently, don't be surprised if you are surrounded by more obnoxious guests than Japanese guests are. Also was disappointed to see a sign advertising rooms that night for 1/3 the price of what I paid on Expedia.

The amount of free amnenities available is really nice. Location is also walking distance to some major shopping streets.

Excellent location

Capsule Hotel Anshin Oyado was a surprisingly good capsule hotel! During my stay, I was constantly surprised by how much this capsule hotel offered. I would absolutely consider staying again! Staff were very prompt and welcoming during both check-in and checkout. English skills of the staff I dealt with were VERY good. During check-in, I was offered a choice of capsule, either floor level or bunk. During my stay, the capsules/rooms were very quiet, with working 'fresh air' and electronics. The capsule size was very appropriate. Pricing was not the cheapest, as it's in Kyoto. My advice is always if staying in Osaka, consider staying there and getting a train up to Kyoto in the morning and returning in the evening. However, maybe it's my mistake, but I could not locate any showers during my stay, only the public/shared bath. I was not aware of this when booking, and could not location any guidance to a shower on site.

Very comfortable and spacious capsules. Good check in service. Clean hotel in overall and lots of complimentary stuff available from toothbrush to manga books to read and free coffee, noodle cups, alcohol (no beer) and lots of other things. Free breakfast was poor for western taste, since it was only rice and butter chicken. There was no hairdryer in male quarters upstairs which was a small minus. Onsen was ok with an indoor and outdoor pool, mist sauna and cold pool. Running between 4 different floors can be rather uncomfortable however.

This is a fantastic deal for those who are traveling on a budget. But the amenities are wonderful. Free snacks, hot breakfast and a spa tub!

If you want a Kyoto capsule hotel experience, look no further than this one! Not only do you have a comfortable capsule, with tv, device outlets and a safe for your valuables, the on-site facilities are amazing. I can only speak to the female facilities so if your male you’ll have to check another review, though some facilities are unisex. There is an on-site Onsen both indoors and outdoors, and a beautiful powder room. Locker rooms are also gender separated. Shared facilities include massage chairs and a lounge that has tables and desks to use laptops or devices, free tea, coffee, soft drinks, and alcohol. You read that right: free alcohol. They also serve free meals at set times. Free toiletries are available, including items most hotels don’t provide, like hair brush/combs, elastic hair ties and clips, emery boards. Also in the Onsen area and powder rooms are full size toiletries to share, such as shampoo, body lotions and hair sprays and other products. When you arrive you can check your shoes into a locker at the entrance and wear slippers provided. I absolutely recommend this hotel above all others, and should I come back to Kyoto one day, this is where I will stay. Maybe even a little longer to just to enjoy the facilities some more! The staff are all friendly, helpful and readily available and the hotel is walking distance from a main shopping street. I loved my short stay and I’m pretty sure you would too.

Sentou/public bath style of bathing, so of course, it’s tattoo friendly! Excellent location and excellent price.

No exaggeration, I would visit Kyoto again just so I can stay at this property again. From Kyoto Station, it's a straight shot on the Karasuma line to Shijo Station; from there, it's an easy walk to the hotel. Check-in was a detailed affair as the staff explained everything the hotel has to offer - and it is A LOT. You are getting what you're paying for. The spa was well-equipped and well-maintained. It was the perfect thing to do after a stressful shinkansen experience. The sleeping accommodations were very comfortable and quite private considering the capsule nature. Sound does travel, but there are complimentary ear plugs available if necessary. (You may be too blissed out from the spa to need them, though!) The breakfast options were incredibly delicious and diverse; I could have stayed there and ate all day if only breakfast didn't have an end time and I didn't have a tour in the morning. I felt pampered and luxurious for all 10 hours I was there (I had it booked for one night only). Check-out was a breeze. The staff working that shift was a young man with a round face and the kindest eye-smile. I didn't get his name, but I wanted to publicly express how deeply I appreciated his assistance anyway. You will not regret staying at this hotel!

My favourite place to stay in Kyoto!

My first capsule experience and it was really nice and fun! Takes a bit to figure out how to maneuver but all easy once you got it. The amenities are really nice and location is convenient near the Nishiki Market.

The hostel is very clean and the hotspring is good

The place was extremely clean. Amenities were top notch and the staff were very friendly and kind despite us not knowing any Japanese.

My first time at a capsule hotel but extremely pleased with my stay! The capsules were roomier than I expected and included tv, headset, even ear plugs. You really don't need anything on you because the hotel provides everything (all of the amenities you can think of- I was particularly pleased to find a hair straightener & hair styling products). Soda fountain, coffee/latte machine, corn chowder, broth and even a fully stocked bar! For breakfast, there is rice, a variety of miso soup & chazuke, and pickled toppings. Staff was friendly. You can even store your stuff before and after check out which is great. Convenient access to train station. Highly recommend!

The property was fantastic in terms of cleanliness and service. It certainly could use some repairs, but they seem to be actively working on that. Do be warned if you are not from Japan that the only bathing option is the Onsen, which is extremely clean, relaxing, and well stocked. The only downside is that the fan within the capsule doesn't really blow cool air in, which means it gets quite warm through the night compared to the hallway. That said, I would stay there again, hands down.

The free coffee/soda/tea were amazing to have. The breakfast rice/soup was really nice to have with all the optional toppings. The free toiletries was fantastic, as a person who wears contacts and traveling, the contact case and solution was a nice perk. The artificial hot spring/showers were fantastic to end the day with. The lockers were perfectly sized compared to the Tokyo location where I could easily store a suitcase inside.
