Excellent service, polite and friendly. Good parking facilities and room was clean and nicely decorated. Breakfast very good. The downside and the only reason we couldn’t give 5 stars for overall stay was that we were kept awake until after 2am by the people in the next room who had the tv on loud all evening and it sounded like it was mounted on the wall behind our bed and we could hear every word. Whether it was due to thin walls or just selfishness by the occupants, it spoilt our stay as we had very little sleep. Not sure if the tv could be repositioned or whether some sound insulation is possible. Shame as it could have been an enjoyable stay

We stayed here for just one night on our way to Scotland, a lovely evening meal, a very comfortable nights sleep and a lovely breakfast cooked to order, definitely recommend this beautiful hotel in gorgeous surroundings.

The Roundthorn Hotel is situated in a quiet countryside spot. The area around the hotel is beautiful. Good links to various places in the Lake District. The evening food at the hotel was excellent and breakfast was really good value. If you're looking for shopping and other amenities this is probably not the ideal place as it is fairly isolated and you need a car to get around....but as a quiet getaway, its a good choice.

My room was really lovely and felt very different from those in many hotels in which I’ve stayed because, once through the door, I had to go down a few steps into the room itself. Nice little LEDs lit the stairs, a great safety measure. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in, and that includes mine at home! A plug socket near the bedside table would have been handy for charging my phone overnight - there were plenty of other sockets but not accessible from the bed itself. The blind in the overhead window was too high for me to reach without standing on a chair, so a small library-style stool would be appreciated. The food was excellent and the staff were more than happy to help. I would certainly stay there again, which is something I don’t often say.

We loved our stay. Our apartment was fantastic. The surrounding grounds and views superb. The staff were friendly and efficient. The meals were incredible. We wished our stay las longer than the 2 nights we were there. Just a dream. Highly recommend.

Character property, clean and comfortable rooms, plenty of parking, quiet location, great views, excellent food, attentive, friendly and helpful staff. Easy access to M6 at Penrith.

Good location and rooms

The staff are always friendly and helpful, a great bonus. Being only a few minutes outside Penrith means you are close enough and also far enough away. Better still, there is more than one route to access the hotel when the traffic is a bit busy. Definitely a place to regularly come back to.

The hotel is beautiful and in beautiful grounds with beautiful views. It really is all beautiful! The rooms are done to a high standard and the staff were excellent; nothing was too much trouble. Niall and Daphne were amazing.

We were upgraded to an apartment which was spacious and included it’s own outside area. All staff were lovely and helpful. The food was of a high standard.

Charming in every way

Everything was to hand and nothing was an effort our comfort was paramount to everyone. Views were stunning and private in a wonderful country setting.

We stayed here for 1 child free night. The hotel was lovely. The room was clean, well maintained and quiet. The view over the Eden Valley was lovely. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was excellent. We used our Tesco vouchers so our stay was very cheap. I definitely recommend this hotel.

The room we stayed in(room7) was cold. We had to ask for a heater. There was no heat at all in the shower. No where to put toilet bags and shower impossible to use because of the door configuration Breakfast was good

Wonderful hotel, a nice mix of modern and old furnishings to fit the style of the house. Beautiful scenery surrounding. Our room was big and stylish, I loved the exposed beams! The bed comfy and bathroom was huge with corner bath and seperate shower. Attentive staff and tasty breakfast. Penrith Town less than 10 minutes drive away and taxis only cost about £6-8. Perfect stay, we will return!

Amazing

The hotel was beautiful on arrival and staff were all wonderful and very accommodating. We ate in the restaurant and the food was amazing and very reasonably priced too. Breakfast was also lovely. The only downside was we booked a superior room and felt let down by this. We paid extra for the room which we thought would be one of the modern ones as shown in the pictures, however it wasnt. It was very dated and in need of modernisation to be sold as a superior room. This is the only complaint and didnt ruin our stay, we just felt we didnt get what we paid for.

Amazing staff and service, beautiful spot with beautiful views

Beautiful spot with views over the valleys to Lowther Castle. Staff were very polite and helpful. Room accommodation was small for the price charged. But for us the main problem was the catering. Largely the food was ordinary especially the veg option which was cold and tasteless and our breakfast in the morning although tasty had been under the heat lights too long.

Fabulous restful hotel, food amazing

The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings with a lovely outdoor seating area. Our room was modern spaces and clean with excellent facilities. The kitchen was a fantastic added bonus. The food in the hotel was delicious and well presented. The staff were really welcoming and friendly. Couldn't rate this hotel enough and will definitely be returning.
