We had a marvelous stay in New Orleans thanks to the comfort and location of O'Malley House. We were here mostly for birdwatching and of course for sightseeing and all the history and musicality of New Orleans. There are plenty of restaurants to try right in the neighborhood; our favorite was probably Queen Trini Lisa's, a modest place from the outside but with glorious Trinidadian food and a great friendly neighborhood vibe on the inside, thanks to the big-hearted Queen Trini Lisa herself. The streetcar trolleys were wonderfully easy for getting to the fabulous, enormous New Orleans City Park, where we spent days exploring the wonders of the park itself as well as the Museum of Art (sooooo good!!) and the Botanical Garden. The trolleys also take you right to the center of the French Quarter and all the touristy goodness on the waterfront. We especially enjoyed exploring the Louis Armstrong Park. We booked a Lafitte Swamp Boat Tour, which was a grand day out; if you go, don't miss the nearby Restaurant des Families and Barataria Preserve.
Brent will go to every length to make your stay comfortable and as adventurous as you want it to be. Don't hesitate to ask him for anything you need or for tips to explore the area, or to let him know about anything you notice that could use attention. He and the housekeeper work super-hard to keep this historical gem a place you'll want to come back to. He has mannnny stories to tell you from his adventures in the hospitality trade. We enjoyed Brent's care with the yummy breakfasts, and getting to meet our fellow travelers (one of whom comes here every year from Australia!). We loved the character of the decor in our room, the big, comfy bed, and the little sofa. We also really enjoyed the side patio. You'll need to be able-bodied enough to climb stairs to stay here, but they are beautiful cypress stairs!
This didn't bother us, but don't expect every surface and every crevasse to be scrubbed and spotless in this historic building as you might in a 5-star hotel with an army of housekeeping staff. Brent makes it no secret that he is running the place almost single-handedly, with a part-time housekeeper. I grew up in an old house, and I know how hard it is to keep every bit of woodwork and all the blinds and drapes completely dust-free at all times. You can be certain that every space in the O'Malley House is clean and comfortable, with nothing to complain about.

Brent is an amazing host - very welcoming, helpful & cooks a delicious breakfast. Beautiful guest house in a great location with free parking & very easy access to French Quarter etc via streetcar which is a few minutes walk away & costs only $3 for a 24 hour pass. Brent also booked 2 excursions for us. A real home from home.

Brett was a great custodian, giving advice, had stories to tell and always cooked a delicious breakfast.
The bedroom surfaces could have been cleaner. The overhead fan especially was thick with dust.

Great food, perfect location.

With free parking in the area and the streetcar station just 2 minutes away, the location is unbeatable. The host is very responsive, helpful with recommendations, approachable and always kind. We enjoyed the variety of freshly prepared breakfast and the dining room is a stylish experience in itself. The house is old with a charm and nicely decorated.
The climb to the third floor did not bother us, but can be challenging for some guests, the walls are thin and a good night sleep may depend on how respectful other guests are - not a big deal in such a historic home, just be aware / prepared. Some door locks are in need for repair and regular cleaning should also include the less used parts of the room.

Stylish house with lovely rooms and amazing breakfasts. Nice location in a lovely neighbourhood with good bars and restaurants, close to streetcar with direct line downtown.

Breakfast was good. Brent cooked a blueberry bread pudding with a strawberry and whipped cream. The streetcar stopped across the street from the house. The house was in a good part of the city. Brent was helpful and informative.
The maid took the towels we threw in the dirty clothes hamper and hung them back up in the bathroom. There was hair in the bed. Poor job in making bed. The TV didn't work. The wifi didn't work most of the time. I could not get on and stay on for over five minutes at a time even once.

Bret was a super nice and helpful inn keeper who made our stay at the O Malley house very enjoyable. It's also super conveniently located, in a quiet neighborhood but on one of the main streetcar thoroughfares. Wouldn't hesitate to come back.

Breakfast was awesome! Brent is an excellent cook. He made us individual soufflé one day and homemade cinnamon waffles the next. The house was beautiful. Location was great...right on the main streetcar line. So we could stay in a quiet neighborhood but be on Bourbon street in a few minutes for $1.25 fare.
Steep stairs to the 3rd floor. The sounds in the adjoining room sounded like they were in your own room. Fortunately the people were pretty quiet.

It’s very authentic experience. Breakfast was remarkable! Very clean and friendly staff.
Our room had thin walls I guess and there’s a locked door to another room. So it was very uncomfortable to wake up early in the morning.

The host was friendly, accommodating and a really good cook! He shared his experiences living in New Orleans and made a number of helpful suggestions for things to do while in the city that I might not have known. The room was very clean and quiet, and true to the period/era. Location was perfect, near the trolley stop. As a solo traveler, I felt very safe in the house, thanks to the house safety requirements. HIghly recommend!

The house was beautiful. We loved the vintage decor. We went for Mardi Gras so at first we wanted to stay closer to the French Quarter, but as it turned out staying here got us away from all the craziness in the French Quarter at the end of the day. The house is located in a quiet neighborhood and the streetcar taking us into town was very conveniently located about a block from the house. Brent was very accommodating in changing our reservation dates when our flight into New Orleans got cancelled. We really appreciated that. We also enjoyed the yummy breakfasts Brent cooked each morning!
Nothing.
