About this castle / palace rental
The Castle has views! Wake in the morning to the sunrise views of the lake, have coffee on the veranda, or have breakfast with a view from the dining room. Relax with a book on the daybed with yet another view. The Rock-Ola Jukebox with 100 CDs and amazing sound takes entertaining and family connection to a new level. Enjoy while preparing meals. The foosball and arcade provide another level of fun. Video available upon request. After a day of hiking or skiing, soak in the jetted tub & sip a glass of wine. Pamper yourself with Essential Oils during your stay with the diffusers located throughout the home. AC is available for additional comfort in the summer. For a more natural cooling experience in the evenings, a Quiet Cool system is installed and pulls in the cool evening air while eliminating the warmer air. The Castle sleeps 8 (2870 sf) with 5 sleeping areas described in the listing as Bedrooms 1-4 including a loft. Three bedrooms are on the main floor (no stairs to access). The 4th sleeping space is on the upper level and includes bunk beds, 2 twin floor mattresses, and a Foosball table. On the same level is a full bathroom, living room, dining room, kitchen, and veranda. The living room has a daybed as another option for sleeping. The loft is above the upper level and has a futon and an Arcade with hundreds of games. All levels have panoramic views of the lake. Guests have commented that you have to experience the views in person - the pictures don’t do it justice. The Castle is located at the end of the street at a cul-de-sac. It sits apart from neighbors on either side with just trees on the end. The Tudor House is about a mile away and provides dining and entertainment. About the Area: Lake Arrowhead, Lake Gregory, and Big Bear Lake are recreational lakes in the Southern California San Bernardino mountains. They offer fresh crisp air, cooler weather (10-15 degrees) in the summer, and snow in the winter. They also offer a more relaxed and low-key energy “vibe” making them ideal locations for getaways to renew the mind, spirit, and body and to reconnect with family and friends. We answer frequent questions regarding the lakes and have put together some information below on what makes each location unique so it is easier to match with your specific goals for your time away. Upon booking one of our properties, you will receive more detailed information on how you can spend your time in the area. Big Bear Lake is a public lake and friendly to all types of boats and water sports and is the largest lake of the three. There is a short paved bike and walking trail that goes along the lake. Big Bear is a City and is more populated with stores, restaurants, and nightlife than the other two locations. It has more of a “desert” feel in terms of its topography. Big Bear is 26 miles up the mountain from Lake Arrowhead, Although none of our properties are in Big Bear, we recommend it for a day trip. Lake Arrowhead is a private lake and is accessible to guests staying at properties with lake rights if the owners have permitted for guests to use their ALA (Arrowhead Lake Association) passes. If this is the case, the Amenity “lake access” will be checked on the listing. In our list of properties, the Gingerbread Cottage is providing lake access. With lake access, specifically, the lake trail is accessible. There is a $10 per person per day fee that is required to be paid to receive a wristband for access. More information can be found on the ALA website. Swimming is allowed from the lake trail at any location except the beach clubs (these are restricted to owners). There is no ability to launch boats or SUPs on the lake. The Village is lakefront and is the main area for shops and restaurants and has a fitness center as well. The Queen boat is a tour boat on Lake Arrowhead that provides much of the history of the town - tickets can be purchased at the shop by the lake. There is a local company that offers water skiing lessons boat tours and rentals. This area has more of a small town and alpine feel to it. The Villas area (south side of the lake) in Lake Arrowhead is cooler and gets more snow that lasts longer than the north side of the lake which gets more sun in the winter and is hotter in the summer. The Villas area is an older area with older homes and narrower streets. The Tudor House is an event center offering Sunday brunch and a variety of events. Skypark is a local attraction as well as Snow Valley for skiing for both Lake Arrowhead and Lake Gregory. Lake Arrowhead is 15 minutes up the mountain from Lake Gregory. Lake Gregory is a public lake in the town of Crestline, a small town about 20 minutes from the base of the mountain of San Bernardino. It is the closest mountain town to events and locations “down the hill”. In the past few years, the lake operations have become privately managed with significant improvements being done at the lake including the development of a water park, beach improvements, and boat, kayak, and canoe rentals. There is a fee to access the beach area and the water park and no fee to access the 2 1/2 mile trail around the lake. Fishing is allowed and more info can be found on the Lake Gregory website. Crestline has a small-town alpine feel with the lake nestled amongst the tall trees. Crestline gets less snow than the other 2 lake locations. The quaint town has restaurants, coffee shops, and thrift stores. Twin Peaks/Blue Jay sits in between Crestline and Lake Arrowhead and is convenient to both lakes. It has its restaurants, shops, and thrift stores. It is famous for its outdoor farmer’s market on Thursday afternoons (seasonal).

This house had the best views of the lake and forrest from both levels. The beds are very comfortable and the kitchen is large with everything you need. Sky Park at Santa's Village is less than 10 minutes away and fun for the whole family. They have a bike park (lots of fun), hiking, a climbing wall, archery, axe throwing, and more. We were there after Memorial Day and there were very few people there.
Big Bear Lake is about a 40 minute drive and you can rent a boat there. Also, lots of hiking/biking trails.
Lake Arrowhead village is a 5 minute drive (>1 hour walking downhill) and there is a grocery store, shopping and restaurants on the waterfront. We had a great trip!

The house is great with lots of entertainment options for kids! We had an issue that came up and I was very impressed with how Lisa and her team handled it - they were very attentive and went over-the-top with providing solutions. Great house and great team, will definitely recommend!

We hit a few snags but overall my family was very happy with our 3 night stay. The location is great and there are many comfy spots to relax and take in the views. The TV and gas fireplaces were perfect, the living room comfortably seated 6, kitchen and dining area are huge and well-appointed and the downstairs beds were comfortable. Early check-in/late check-out, when available, costs extra. Online check-in is the most thorough I have experienced, requiring uploading a selfie and providing licence plate number(s) before receiving your access code. I'd recommend this for 1-2 compact to midsized car(s) because parking was extremely tight with our Tundra. I also recommend making sure you can turn on the tub faucet before you're cold, tired and ready for your soak. I messaged the owner with a few issues and she was very helpful.

The view of the lake is absolutely stunning, especially during sunrise and sunset. The house was fantastic and was a cozy abode to spend during this winter.

We had three adult couples for a 4 night/5 day stay in early/mid December. Booking, check-in and communication were very smooth and the description of the place is accurate. The two bedrooms with lake views had king size beds and adjoining bathrooms. The "main" bathroom has a jacuzzi tub with handheld shower head (not wall mounted). The other downstairs bathroom (as described) also has access from the hallway. The third bedroom has a queen-size bed and no adjoining bathroom. We were originally going to share the second downstairs bathroom but ended up using the full bathroom upstairs for the third bedroom since it was just as easy. The full bathroom upstairs is large with a glass shower.
The views are gorgeous. Full lake views from the dining room, living room and deck as well as two of the bedrooms. We spent most evenings at the dining table playing games and doing puzzles but could just as comfortably sat in the living room watching movies in front of the fireplace.
The kitchen had everything we needed. The only issue was that the water took awhile to get hot, which is understandable in a mountain home during winter.
We easily parked two mid-size suvs in the garage and one sedan in the driveway. The driveway is short and fairly steep so it could be a challenge to pull out if it was snowy or icy but we had crisp sunshine and didn't have any problems.
All in all, we had a wonderful stay and are discussing coming back next year at about the same time.

Our family of three enjoyed a nice getaway to the mountains in this home with spectacular views! It was clean and had great amenities like a foosball table which my son enjoyed. The only thing that was disappointing is that the jets in the tub didn’t work. Overall great stay.

Loved the Winter Wonderland!
This place was beautiful and the ppl helping us were great at communicating. We were unfortunately stuck in the winter storm and lost power but the gas fire place, water heater and stove kept us warm. Be prepared if you are driving during snow- we were not completely prepared for the hills on the road when it came to our vehicle but bringing sleds worked out here . We loved this place and hope to come back next year. Thank you so much for giving my kids a fun sledding week.

Beautiful home with breathtaking views, but… BEWARE! They aren’t honest and stole my money!
I was Informed 12 hrs before we flew out for vacation that we’d arrive to the home without power, but it would be on by 5pm. No flashlights or lighter to light the gas fireplace were left for us upon our arrival, even though they knew we would have no power.
At 5pm, its getting dark and cold, I called the power company to inquire when the power would be back on & the power company informed me that for the next two days the power will be out 8am-6pm & the owner was notified well in advance of this outage. I was never told this. When I confronted the owner and property manager about this they both acknowledged keeping this information from me, saying the power company rarely does what they say & they didn’t want to share the outage with me & have me panic & cancel my reservation. I would have cancelled.
I was unable to host friends for dinner due to no power, not to mention unable to prepare our own meals. We had to leave the house early and get ready for the wedding rehearsal down in the valley because we had no power. We were extremely inconvenienced for several reasons.
On the day we checked out, we requested a late check out in the afternoon. They had the cleaner show up before 11:30am. We quickly gathered our belongings & left, unable to enjoy our planned lunch meal.
There was more, but I will leave it here… it was a horrible experience for my family. This all could have been avoided if the property manager and host were honest about the condition of the home.
I requested a full refund to both the owner and property manager. Long story short, the owner said they would grant me one in a text and on the phone and asked that I leave them a good review, as bad reviews hurt them. And then one excuse after another lead to me receiving less than a full refund, which means Vrbo won’t refund their service fee so I’m out over $500 to stay in a home without power 3 of the 4 days.
I do not recommend renting this house or any of their properties. They aren’t honest & they take your money when they are the ones at fault. I also don’t recommend renting any properties the property manager manages.

UNBELIEVABLE
This property sets the highest bar for my first ever renting a home on line. My wife and i did not want to leave. Excellent experience. Wish our next future rentals will be as good as this one.

Our two night stay at Castle 2
Location was pretty good and the size of the cabin was good. Rules are very strict so make sure you put used towels in washer, take our trash and squeegee the shower each time you take a shower etc.
We did come across some issues with cracked glasses, a broken space heater and some overlooked things. The 1st bedroom definitely needs a mirror outside the bathroom. Bring your own toiletries. They offer coffee with a coffee maker but its old coffee, so bring your own.

Modern in the Mountains
A well decorated, modern spot to enjoy your time near Lake Arrowhead. I chose to eat at the place instead of going out for dinner because the sunset over the lake is beautiful watch with nearly floor to ceiling windows. It’s a shared residence with another property upstairs but it felt secluded and there are no neighbors on one side of the property. It gave me the peace i was looking for with a short getaway trip.

Fall weekend get away
The unit is adorable, my husband and I shared with another couple. Everything was absolutely perfect. One slight draw back is there is another unit above, and the walls are thin. You can hear just about everything.

A GREAT PLACE BUT INACCURATELY DESCRIBED
Overall we were happy with the place. We found it to be very clean, well furnished, and equiped with excellent kitchen appliances. The beds were comfortable and the views were wonderful.
However we were quite disappointed to find that the place we had rented was the lower half of a house, the top part of wish was rented to other guests. Althoggh the owner claimed ot jad beem "soundproofed" at a cost of thousands of dollars, the fact was that we could hear the guests upstairs . There were two separate rentals of the upstairs and the noise from above was quite loud and disturbing.
The VRBO add should have explained that there were two rental units. Had we known this we would not have rented this place.
There was also a mix up about the check our date. We had asked that the reservation be for six days and were shocked to find that on the fifth day the cleaning crew showed up and demanded that we leave in 10 minutes. I had assumed incorrectly that the owenr had at my request extended our stay by one day, as I had requested . This was not the case and I should have read more carefully the owner's response to my request to delay our check in by a day and to extend our stay by an additional day. She also added an additional charge of $120 for our stay on Friday night, even though Firday night was included in our original reservation and for which we had already paid the price quoted on VRBo when we made the reservation in the first place.

Perfect "apartment style" lodging for 2! (Or more)
Well kept and modern with nice amenities. Views and atmosphere made it well worth the price. Lower level is perfect for 2 people looking to sneak away but not pay the full price of a huge house overlooking the lake. The "Nest" thermostat didn't want to turn on one night and inside temp got down to 55F (but there was a fireplace, space heater, and plenty of blankets!)....(I blame the Nest not property owners). I didn't want to leave and I can not wait to return.

Nice & roomy
We had 2 adults & 1 kid and we chose the front bedroom because 1. You couldnt hear the guests upstairs talking & walking like you can in the other bedroom 2. There is a standup shower & separate tub...There is only 1 outlet by a nighstand in the front room FYI. The 2nd bedroom was colder because theres no heater vent, but there is a standup portable heater. I liked that there is also a half bathroom in the middle of the house by the living room. And appreciate the nice washer/dryer so you can go home to unpack clean clothes. I really wish there was a lightweight vacuum available to vacuum the dirt from coming & going, and any crumbs you make. There was a broom w/ no dustpan. Theres plenty of dishes/silverware. You’d have to run the dishwasher maybe everyday though if you had 5-6people. It could use a little more cooking utensils & pans. There was only one 8” frying pan & the rest was pots. Plenty of baking ware though. The house is spread out enough so If you did ha e 5-6 people i think you would not feel cramped. For the most part i had constant contact w/ management through email. I do think housekeeping should have a keener eye when cleaning the floors & restocking supplies that were stated. I dont like finding hair throughout the house that was there before i was. And the living room rug had crumbs & things all in it from previous guests so those 2 things made me a little uncomfortable, but thats me. Otherwise the house was nice & spacious.

Perfect Holiday Weekend...
We booked the home for our Family of 4 Christmas weekend and we were very pleased with our choice. Home was beautiful and had very tasteful decor. Towels were nice and plush and everything was new and kept well. Owner and Management were a pleasure to work with and very quick to respond. We were able to book right away with no waiting for a response or long interviews just to book a rental. My Husband and I enjoyed cooking our gourmet meals in the nice kitchen. Kids enjoyed the space and were able to play with their Christmas presents inside and outside of the property. We especially liked the lovely views of the trees and lake. We will definitely consider renting again from this Owner and all of her properties.
