About this house rental
This home was completely remodeled and updated in the Fall of 2015, and brand new appliances and an outdoor 6 person hot tub was added in the fall of 2016. It is located on the National Forest line in Cascade Village. Lift #20 at Cascade Hotel is a short distance from our home, with convenient parking nearby. The home sits at THE highest point in Cascade Village and is nestled against National Forest land, so it offers a great combination of views of Vail valley and the mountains out front, and tranquil very private mountain views out back (we often see deer and foxes out the back windows).
The home sleeps up to 8 in three bedrooms (plus one additional queen sleeper available as well in the main living area), and is more than ample for 2 families to share (also includes two private garage parking spots with room to store skis and snowboards). Kids can be entertained in the game room while parents relax in peace with the views and the (real wood) fireplace. The house also includes a well-equipped kitchen with newer stainless appliances, stocked supplies, a 55" 4K TV, three other flat screen TVs, a full cable lineup, a new hot tub, and new furniture throughout. There is a beautiful spa/healthclub (called Aria, requires additional fees), a great restaurant, and a lively bar/lounge for apris ski, all a short distance away at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. The kids can sled out back or in a nearby field. There is a free shuttle from the nearby Grand Hyatt to Lionshead and Vail Village. Note that the house is a mountain property and with the great views and seclusion comes some stairs and a driveway that is at an incline. An AWD or 4WD is highly recommended. Also the driveway and one wall is shared with the home next door, but it is extremely private with its own garage and entrance.

The owner was incredibly quick to respond to any questions or concerns. The jacuzzi is amazing! We really enjoyed our stay. Do make sure to minimally have AWD the roads can be quite slick when it snows.

Having only rented from VRBO a couple of times I didn't notice how old some of the reviews were. Or how sparse new reviews were. Things have changed since the property was updated in 2015. And the things that went unsaid in the listing are obviously more important than what was said.
Pro's:
When contacted the Owner was responsive. The property manager was not.
House had the number of bedrooms and bathrooms listed. Although only one bedroom has a private bathroom and it's not the Master bedroom.
Comfortable.
It's in Cascade Village... but not part of the Grand Hyatt amenities which would cost the Owner money. To bad because then there would be a free shuttle...
Yup, that pretty much sums up the Pro's
Con's. And why I have a problem with the listing:
The house is up a very steep hill. It's "recommended" to rent an AWD or 4WD. Change that to "MUST"
If you decide to walk as suggested (20 minutes uphill for an adult) there is no sidewalk. If there is snow you are walking in traffic, in the dark, on an icy street in ski boots. Don't even think of trying it with kids under 15.
You can park across from the chair lift... at $25 for the day. It's $30 at Vail and Lionshead and then you don't have to take a shuttle back if you miss the last lift.
Real wood fireplace is include, which is great, but no firewood. Called the property manager but he didn't get back to us. Finally called the Owner and he did. Said there were Duraflame logs in an outdoor closet... one. Did not offer to send more.
Some overall observations. It is a good house and comfortable. The kitchen is very usable but the pans are all old and deteriorated. The furniture is comfortable, but again, older and sagging. Rugs are stained and all the towels were in the dryer when we arrived. Sheets for pull out couch looked dirty. Jacuzzi was great but needed to be filled. A couple of light fixtures didn't work because the knobs were broken. It just seems that no one from Ownership has walked through the place in awhile so maybe quality control has begun to slip. Seven years is a long time for a rental property. More upgrades are necessary.
And finally, when someone uses the term "nearby", question what that means. I don't believe that a 15-20 minute uphill walk in the snow and on an unlit street should be considered "nearby". Tell it like it is.
I guess ultimately the question is, "would I stay there again or recommend it to a friend"? The answer is "No".

Top of The Cascades
This property was awesome. Nicely located and very easy to get around. Very spacious and well layed out. The owner was very responsive and quick when asked questions. Nice sized two car garage for multiple cars and storage. An absolute great experience

We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary ❤ with our 3 young adult children and wanted some room to spread out. A concert by the Philadelphia Orchestra, great dinner at the Grand Hyatt, hikes along Gore Creek, some mountain biking, and several rides up the gondola to admire the high peaks and snow! The accomodations are spacious and comfortable. The unit is an older model but clean and attractive. A few areas need repair, and we did let the owner know about a leak under the kitchen sink, but we very much enjoyed our summertime stay and would recommend it highly.

There was plenty of room. We enjoyed the large deck and views of stats and mountains. The hott tub was great after daily activities. Well equipped kitchen. Plenty of towels. Loved the washer and dryer. The carpet was a bit dirty. But other than that we enjoyed our stay.

Fabulous property with ample living space, great views, and a covered hot tub (VERY handy when it rained). Lots of moths to contend with in the mountains, but a generally positive experience otherwise. Would ABSOLUTELY stay again.

Perfect set up for 2 families
Perfect set up to accommodate our two families for our ski trip. Comfy beds, convenient access to lift #20- easy to get on and off the mountain without the hustle and bustle of the Village. Would stay again

Clean, comfortable and a beautiful location.
Loved the location, beautiful area! House was clean, comfortable and had plenty of room for the 4 of us. Driveway is a little hard to maneuver with a large vehicle and you need to make a few turns to get out. Otherwise we loved it!

Great house in Cascade Village, great hosts, a bit far from the lifts and Vail shuttle
The house, furnishings, and provided amenities are beautiful. It has a private 2 car garage which is great. It sleeps 10 comfortably, great for a large family or several families sharing. A lovely gift basket with wine and snacks was provided. There several large screen televisions with cable/Netflix access and high speed wireless internet provided. Very clear instructions on how to use everything in the house. My only complaints are that the property is located a bit far from the Cascade lift and not on the Vail shuttle bus route. You have to drive to the lift and even if you are truly an expert skier, you would have to walk a bit after a rather extreme downhill under chair 20. Using Uber/Lyft compensated for the lack of shuttle service.

Lovely home, fully equipped and spotless!
We had a fantastic time visiting this lovely home. All the amenities were top-notch, including a fully equipped kitchen with all the necessary pantry staples and an added bonus of a beautiful welcome gift basket from the owners, which was such a nice surprise. Very comfortable furniture throughout and nice new bedding. Location was great; very easy to get to the slopes, as described, with parking available across from the ski lift. We hope to be back again soon!!

This house is great...everything we hoped for! Definitely hope to stay here again.
The house is very spacious, every bedroom is a good size and comfortable, the open dining room and living room with fireplace was great. The entire house was very clean and the furniture and linens are new, providing a comfortable and cozy, mountain vibe. The house is also in a great location...it's private, yet it's only a minute to lift #20 and only about 5 minutes to Vail Village and Lionshead.
Ken and Hollie also made the rental process efficient and were very helpful to ensure the check-in/out process was simple and that we had everything we needed for a great vacation.

A great place tucked back in Cascade. Super clean ( just renovated!) and super friendly owners.
Our overall experience was great and almost perfect. The description of the home is accurate, and it has new white carpeting throughout. We found that the walk was a little far to lift 20 wearing ski boots, so we just parked right at the structure at that lift. We also caught the free bus there when we wanted to go to Vail Village or Lionshead. The coffee amenities are superb, but bring your own crockpot. The bedrooms are all brand-new with comfortable beautiful bedding. The customer service from the owners was excellent. We highly recommend this beautiful home.
