My wife and I and our 4 young kids have rented the Chalet for over 70 days over the last three years. It's become somewhat of a family tradition. There is a reason we keep coming back!! I'm having a hard time finding more great things to say about our stay that I haven't previously said, but honestly if you are thinking of coming to Vail don't lose your opportunity to stay here. Can't beat the location as it's walkable to both Lionshead and Vail village. Easy access to the mountain and gondola. Beautiful yard to hang out in in the summer. Very private. Ample Parking. Very Clean. The host, Heather, is easily accessible by text, phone or email and is absolutely top notch. Looking forward to staying again soon! Don't miss out!

This property has a very convenient location and is undoubtedly an amazing value during ski season. The owner's daughter acts as a manager. We stayed for nearly 3 weeks and there are a few items that, for us, were disappointing. The house is a duplex than, the efficiency that "adjoins" the property is the basement that has been built out. The upstairs bedroom is the attic. You will be asked not to venture toward the river as the owner lives in the dwelling between you and the river. Consequently, there is not really a river view and you cannot hear the river due to the steep bank and the formidable structure between you and it. Also, the "water feature" does not work - the signage around the house asking you to not allow kids to play in the water feature alludes to this being an issue for some time. Unfortunately, stagnant pools of water, even in Colorado, attract mosquitos and bugs. The water feature and trees are your only real view from the back deck, so looking at stagnant water was disappointing. Finally, the linens and bedding were of medium to poor quality. The "comforters" were as seemingly old as the house. The mattresses were cheap when they were new - many, many years ago. The mattress covers have been washed so many times they are falling apart. Apparently "Chalet style bedding" means old and falling apart in Swiss. I bought a mattress pad, new mattress cover, and sheets for the basement where my wife and I slept. The proximity to all Vail has offer is amazing.

Lovely 4 bedroom house! Very clean. The kids loved the sleds and outdoor toys. The grandparents stayed in the lower level which is a full in-law suite. The parents and kids had the main level and loft. This is an older unit, maybe 50+ years old with updates. The kitchen is small but has everything you could want, there are plenty of cooking tools and a nice large dining table. The host, Heather was very accessible and ready to accommodate questions or requests. The walk from the Chalet to the Gondola and Lionshead area of shops and bus is pretty along Gore Creek. The walk took us about 12-15 minutes. We wanted to go back to the house and back out to the village several times per day so this walk is something to consider.

Great location. Easy access to the slopes. Heather was wonderful and responded to all questions and needs. We definitely go back. We’re in Vail.

The house was charming. Great location short walk to the ski slopes. Heather was very responsive and helpful. We would stay there again.

Heather's house is a 5-star property. Surrounded by the encroaching "new money" Vail houses, this place gives the feel of an older, cozier Vail (which I prefer). Plenty of room for 3 kids and 4 adults. Ski storage, warm towering fireplace, and a well-stocked kitchen. The house is about a 5 minute walk to the slopes, and you can even "cheat" after the lifts close and walk the ski trail directly into Lionshead for restaurants and shopping. Would recommend for anyone looking for a home away from home in Vail.

The property was perfect for our family and friends to enjoy a Christmas ski vacation. Just steps to the gondola in Lionshead with a cozy atmosphere and wonderful wood burning fireplace to return to after a long day of skiing. Kitchen was well equipped and Heather, the hostess, was fantastic to communicate with. We will totally be renting again in the future.

Chateau du Soleil is a great rental. Fabulous location just down from the slopes. We had a large group and it was the perfect mix of multiple bedrooms for privacy, but a large living area where we could all hang out. And Heather is great to help with anything you need. Highly recommend!

Second time staying at the property (cumulative 6 week total stay).
Heather, the owner, is absolutely wonderful. She has consistently gone out of her way to make our stay pleasant and has made it exceedingly easy to add in services such as additional cleanings. She even went out of her way to mail back something I left at the house.
The house is charming and well kept with plenty of space and a basement apartment for the inlaws, nanny etc. Deck and outdoor space are wonderful, especially in summer!
Location is perfect with easy walking access to the mountain as well as lionshead and vail village. The street is quiet and safe enough for my 5 and 6 yo kids to ride bikes.
If you are considering staying here, book it! You won't regret it.
Looking forward to coming back next summer (and hopefully many summers after that).

We had a great stay at Heather’s house in Vail. We loved that it was ski-in/ski-out. The house had everything we needed from kitchen appliances, Wi-Fi and extra towels/linens.
Heather met us at check in and gave us a tour of the house and was readily available for any questions during the week.

They say location, location, location is what sells real estate - well, it also makes for a perfect vacation home, and this one has it, right in the heart of Vail mountain and a short walk to the gondola and Lionshead. We stayed a week with four adults and five kids under six, and this home met everyone's needs. A great backyard full of snow provided ample playing space for our Florida kids who wanted to avoid coming inside and big windows for the parents to supervise. It was cold outside but always warm inside, with hot showers when needed. The fireplace was great and well-stocked for evening fires. Everything was immaculate, and the beds were comfortable. But the best part was the easy walk to and from Lionshead. Oh, and those two bags of ice we purchased for the four adults who like adult drinks - they remained outside the whole week because the ice maker was always full. The living room was super cozy, with comfortable couches and amazing throw blankets. When the kids were not watching TV the adults enjoyed playing our tunes through the home's blue tooth speakers, which were fantastic. Our host Heather was just marvelous and extremely helpful with anything we needed leading up to and during our stay. I even think she had something to do with the snow I requested. If you go to Vail - which you should, don't pass this home up!!

Great vintage home surrounded by megamillion mansions. We loved the location although it was more than a few steps to gondola. Really enjoyed the views, watching the snow falling and the fireplace.

This cabin was great for our family and the walking distance to the slope for skiing is the best.
Classic wood cabin with a super fireplace.
Heather is great and helpful.

Amazing property with a great location!
I didn't quite know what to expect as the photos of the property are from the winter, and we were renting in the summer. The photos accurately describe the interior (which was clean and charming), but the beautiful back yard with a stream was completely unexpected. We spent many evenings having dinner at the picnic table on the lawn.
The location is second to none with easy access to Lionshead village and quick access (maybe a few hundred feet) to the ski/ hiking/ biking trails which are visible from the parking spot (as a bonus, there is enough space to park 4 cars).
Heather was extremely responsive and a wonderful host. We really look forward to returning next year!

Vail Ski chalet fabulous!
This chalet adjacent to the vail lionshead ski slope and gondola was just right for our group of 7 adults. Heather was a prefect host and had everything in the home that we needed, including tp/Papertowels/firewood/fireatarters/spices and oil and much more- which was very nice. Ski decor, fireplace and large TV made for a great ski apres feeling. Walk to slopes along road took 7 minutes in ski boots(be careful it is slippery when road is wet and snowy), 10 minute walk to Lionshead and 30 minute walk to vail village along gore creek made this house easy access by foot to all of Vail. 4 parking spots give the option for easy parking as well. We loved our stay at this loving home and would definitely stay here again.

The property was exactly what we expected based on the pics, description, and prior reviews. Our family of 9 adults had more than enough room to spend the week together. We would not hesitate to stay again at this property.

Perfect Summer Getaway
This was our 5th summer vacation at Chalet du Soleil and it was wonderful as always. It is perfect for our family of 10 and feels like our second home. We love the convenient location, the great views, and the beautiful creek flowing through the property. Heather is always so pleasant and easy to work with.

Easy and spacious July 4th with little kids
We were extremely pleased with our stay in Vail this year. The house was very spacious, filled with all the essentials plus more in the kitchen (we were surprised the fridge was even stocked with things like jelly!). Heather was an extremely easy host, the 2 pack n plays provided for our kids were in excellent, brand-new shape, there were tons of blankets, pillows, towels, and fans/heaters to meet everyone's needs! The construction across the street didn't bother us at all, and in fact, the folks there were very friendly with great neighborhood tips for us tourists! The walk into/from Lionshead involves a STEEP hill, which was very hard to walk up with our kids in a wagon. Far too steep for them to walk themselves and we had to take turns pulling them, it was quite difficult! But beyond that, we had no complaints. Would absolutely stay here again! Thanks, Heather!

Great Spot
Really awesome spot in Vail. My only recommendation would be for anyone staying here is to have your rental skis delivered to the house. The slope is just a few hundred feet away and easily accessible if you have skis with you. Thanks for the hospitality!

Modest Chalet in the Midst of Mega Mansions
Our stay was fantastic! The online description adequately describes this house. The home is very simple, but has everything you need.
The kitchen was small but well equipped. The beds had good bedding and pillows, and sufficient bathrooms.
The only thing we would have changed would have been not having an outdoor hot tub (but we knew that when we booked it...) and the 10 or so minute walk up the mountain after eating dinner in town. (Without a car there is no easy was to get home from Lion's Head other than to walk up the ski trails....or walk the long way around on the road. ) Even so, I would def. recommend this house.

Relaxing Getaway
We had a lovely stay! It was our first trip to a VRBO since Covid began, and we were all a bit apprehensive, but this home felt Covid proof! It was welcoming, clean and cozy. Heather was a pleasure to work with... she even provided my son with an extra computer monitor so he could work from home. We'll be back!

Perfect
A very special place. Heather was amazing. She had robes for us, a few breakfast items knowing that we were getting in very late, chocolates on our nightstand, wood for fires, soft throw blankets, soaps, and even hand sanitizers. We would walk just three houses up to the end of the road to ski down to the lifts. It was cozy and very much what you think of as a ski cottage. We cooked almost all of our meals and had the time of our lives with our adult children. Heather made this a Christmas for our family to always remember. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for sharing your special place with us!!!!

Great place, will definitely return
Perfect location and size, could easily fit 20+ people in the home if needed. We had our entire family there for a week with plenty of room. Easy to get to Vail Village after a day on the mountain. For the skiers who know Vail, ski down Born Free, exit left, click off skis, 5 min walk to condo. Very convenient to get on/off hill, no shuttle/parking needed. Will be back in summer. Thanks for the hospitality.

Authentic Cozy Cabin
Heather and her Mother are awesome! The place you are renting was their weekend getaway since the late 60's. Its updated where it counts, there is plenty of room to spread out and it feels like you are on an actual ski vacation in the mountains. Its a perfect getaway and not a long walk to the slopes. As mentioned by a previous renter, if your looking for the Ritz, this is not your place. If your looking to gather invaluable family moments, welcome home!
