About this house rental
Enjoy the feeling of being in a ski chalet, with tall large windows overlooking the valley below, and tongue and grove wood ceilings above. We often hear a sigh when folks enter the foyer, with a sense of being “home”. Drop your bags, take off your shoes and explore.
The first thing one notice about the Athlone is its superb location offering privacy and views. It is on the ski mountain, set above Après Ski Road, on a semi private lot, overlooking the south valley.
From inside the home, the windows in the back face up the mountain, where you can view the movement of the gondola up the ski hill. Enjoy the convenience of being within walking distance to the gondola (about a half mile) and mountain village or steps away to catch the Free Bus.
Upon entering the home on the main level, a welcoming foyer that opens to the first bedroom greets you. The bedroom contains a bunk bed with a full bed on the bottom and a twin on top. From the foyer, wide stairs lead you up to the main level. This floor has spectacular views and the ideal location to view the balloon festival or the evening alpen glow of the setting sun behind the mountains in the distance. Yes turn on whole house fan. No central air conditioning. Ceiling fans and newly installed air conditioning units in living room and upper bedroom only.
Outdoor surveillance devices such as security cameras are used for the purpose of exterior security and viewing who enters the front door, driveway, and grounds. No pets allowed on property or inside residence.
There is a bedroom with a queen bed, and full bathroom. Also, on this level, is the dining room, with balcony access, a full kitchen and the living room with the 60-inch wall mounted TV. The top floor has the master bedroom, king size log bed and log dresser. From the windows, there are views in both directions of the valley and up the mountain. The master bedroom has dual sink counter.
Please note owner's nightly room rate and cleaning fee are exclusive of Steamboat Springs 20% tax and VRBO/Expedia fees.

Three-story townhouse near the base of the ski resort. Nice views it was hot when we were there and there is no central AC, but a aftermarket swamp cooler sitting in the living room and master bedroom.. That should be stated in the description so future guests know.

We really enjoyed our stay. It was nice to have 3 full bathrooms since we had 3 couples. Views, and location were great. Steamboat area made for a great vacation!

Property was in a great spot to get to all the shopping, restaurants, and outdoor activities we wanted to go to throughout town. Very quiet and comfortable.

We stayed here BECAUSE it was misleadingly described as having a private hot tub. When we arrived there were already people in the hot tub - it's shared with the adjacent unit. The owner of the adjacent unit locked us out of the hot tub by changing the combination on the lock. So we were unable to use the hot tub for my birthday/Memorial Day weekend. We would have tolerated the shared hot tub (not to mention the disgustingly filthy carpet) had we actually been able to use the hot tub.
Our host dismissingly said "sorry - Murphy's law I guess" and offered us $75, which does not come close to making it right. We rented this place to have a private hot tub and would have gladly paid more to stay somewhere else that actually had one. We were unable to use the amenity that we specifically rented the property for because of an intentionally inaccurate description. The owner is condescending and has been zero help. What a dissapointingly unforgettable experience for a 4-day birthday weeekend.
Stay somewhere else where the owners actually act like "hosts" because you are paying their mortgage for them.

We enjoyed our stay here and recommend this house! Very close to the ski area, great views, and very clean and spacious!

1. The carpet is not properly cleaned and can use proper cleaning. 2. Since we are staying for a month we asked if the vacuum cleaner bag can be dropped off for us to use the vacuum cleaner since the bag was full and smelled very bad when we tried to use it. Owner replied "Ill check back next week" then ignored our request.
3. Trash was only picked up one time (supposed to be once a week) only after asking the owner two times. 4. The driveway was only plowed one time during the whole month of our stay, which made the steep driveway very slippery. We fell 5 times walking down the driveway to the street. Storm Mountain Express shuttle would not drive up due to the driveway not being cleared with ice and 6 inches of snow. We texted the owner the day before to clear the driveway but were not able, so we had to drag our luggage through 6 inches of snow slip and slide down the driveway to the Apres ski way. 5. The home is dated and can use better quality / quantity of kitchen utensils, pots and pans compared to most of the vacation rentals that we used in the last 5 years.
View is good.
We would not rent this property again.

Condo was great with 3 rooms and 3 baths to ge give everyone privacy. Hot tub was welcoming after a long day of skiing. Kitchen worked well for for eating meals in.

Overall we enjoyed our stay there- especially since we got to use the hot tub & sauna all to ourselves despite it being "shared". The sauna takes a bit to warm up but when it does it's great. Once the hot tub got cleaned it was also great.
Accessing those facilities however was not easy due to lack of shoveling the snow off on the stairs. Owners said it was supposed to be done by the driveway plow person but that didn't happen. They did get it shoveled the next day but then it snowed again and the following day it was the same issue- where I had to shovel them myself.
Be aware that they do not shovel the snow off the deck where the hot tub is - which prevents the hot tub cover from opening completely. I tried shoveling it but the inadequate plastic shovel was no match for the hard packed snow that has obviously been there awhile. I asked to have this taken care of or to provide a better shovel- neither of which happened during our 6 night stay.
Also be aware that only 1 bundle of firewood is provided - which will last for 1 night- despite the presence of a large firewood rack on the 2nd level deck. Considering how much we paid to stay here this is not what was expected and not what we have experienced from numerous previous winter rentals.
My sister and her husband noted that the king bed upstairs was too soft so take note if you're used to a firmer mattress. We had no such issues with the other 2 beds.

As a short term owner myself, I immediately noticed how exceptionally clean the property was.
They had useful amenities including toilet paper, dishwasher pods, laundry detergent, spices, aluminum foil and plastc wrap to name a few. There were ample towels and blankets as well.
The three-story layout was a nice surprise and accommodated our family perfectly.
Even though this townhouse is a couple blocks from the slopes, the free public town bus was easy to take and brought us anywhere we needed to go.
The private hot tub and sauna made for a nice evening after hours on the slopes each day.

Great home for family with a great view. We were also visited by a mama bear and her three cubs who walked up the driveway and gave a magnificent show.

House was amazing. View was spectacular. The bunk room bed was really broken down and very uncomfortable. Need a few more full length mirrors. Hottub was great and extremely clean. Thank you!!

This place has everything we needed. Communication was prompt from the owners. Had a great time. Location is close to bus line and you can even walk to the resort. It’s a little hike but nothing bad if you like exercise.
4.7
We had so much fun at this property and was well priced given the prime location. The sauna and hot tub were the icing on the cake. We even had a couple friends over for dinner one night who were saying close but we’re paying double and had no views. This is a hidden gem. Definitely make sure you have 4 wheel drive because that driveway is steep!

This was a wonderful place to stay to ski and work remote. It only took 10 minutes to walk or 5 min to take the bus to the mountain. The hosts were very responsive to our questions. The hot tub is lovely and has an amazing view. Would definitely stay again.

We loved our stay at this townhouse. It had everything we needed and was very easy access to the ski buses. I totally recommend this if you’re looking for a great place to stay when you hit the slopes.

Great location for skiing Steamboat. Was easy to use free city bus and had great views of the valley. Had plenty of room for family of 5.

Howard is a wonderful host and responded promptly to a few requests we had upon arrival. The location and views cannot be beat for this rental. The neighbors are also lovely. We had a wonderful vacation here with our family of 4 and enjoyed our time in the beautiful mountains!

GIRLS TRIP

property just as listed and beautiful!!

As advertised
Was a nice place. Quiet. Lots of pots and pans (which I find is lacking at many rental places) which was nice to see. Some had mentioned construction noise as an issue in the past but it has been completed. Overall no issues.

Great property. We rode the free bus to ski the mountain every day.

This house was great, plenty of room and a nice hot tub! The hot tub is not on the porch as it seems from the photo but it's not a far walk just across the way and up some stairs. Plenty of hot water for everybody to shower after skiing. The walk to the resort and the bus to the resort are super easy (downhill) but the bus ride on the way back (it's a loop) takes forever and the walk is uphill so pick your poison. There is only room for 3 vehicles and Steamboat does not have overnight parking (at any cost) during the winter so make sure to carpool! I would stay here again for sure, property manager was helpful and kind and the house was great.
