We enjoyed our stay, place was nice and met our needs. John, the host was readily available and helpful. Walk down the stairs and buy lobster and oysters fresh for dinner. Thanks for a terrific trip.

This property should be amazing. It’s in a great spot, with an amazing view of the water in phippsburg. Unfortunately, that’s really the only positive. The house is badly in need of maintenance. The dishwasher was broken, a chair was broken, kitchen stool was broken, armchair in the living room broken, no remote for the TV, a used back of tissues and dirty socks in the couch cushions. It was one issue after another. On top of that, the contact information on the listing wasn’t even for the current host, it was someone who didn’t manage the property anymore. Once we finally got the right contact information they were hard to get in touch with even though they assured us they were available. This doesn’t even cover the issues we had with check-in, or with the refund the host agreed to since the property didn’t have power when we arrived (nor had they plowed or shoveled, or provided any kind of support in the snow storm).
Basically… if you want a great view and you don’t care if nothing works and there is no one to contact, this property is great. Otherwise steer clear.

The house was advertised. Clean and spacious. The place could use a few updates but none of that detracted from the location, and views. Just stunning beauty. Remote quiet and beautiful. Bill the property manager was close by and a super nice guy.

Wonderful weekend with friends. The host could not have been more accommodating. It turned out to be the best weekend ever for our group.

LOCATION - LOCATION - LOCATION
The views were 5-star. Could not ask for better. There was plenty of exploring around the tide pools for the children and parents. The property manager Bill was very attentive and helped to answer all the questions we had. The adults had a great time playing games and having laughs. There was plenty of space - although advertised to sleep 10, there was only beds for 8 (1 king, 2 queens & a set of bunk beds) no queen in the bunk room as advertised.
There were some issues with the property - the kitchen sink is just not practical. It has a restaurant style set up with no faucet - it only a hand held sprayer that works only if you are squeezing it together. So, consequently, you only have one hand for washing dishes. It works with such force that it sprays you every time. The faucet should be changed to a normal faucet system. Until then, bring your rain poncho to do the dishes.
The kitchen / house is not ideally equipped. We had to go out and purchase several items such as a can opener (the one there was rusted - we left the new one for the next guests), dish towels, hand towels for the bathrooms, hand soap for the bathrooms (the dispensers in each bathroom did not dispense well at all), a spatula, aluminum foil, plastic wraps (the basics) there was only one garbage bag that was in the garbage can, and we did not realize that until after our trip to the store 40 minutes away (although we could have gotten some of those things at the general store 9 minutes away). We could not lock the door when we left for the day as you can only lock it from the inside (unless there was a trick) - the password we were given for the wifi - from the recent email - was wrong, not even close to what it really was (thanks to Bill we got the right one). It became a comedy - what will be wrong next? The rental is NOT ideal for individuals that have mobility issues. There are stairs going into the house and all bathrooms and bedrooms are on the second floor. That all being said - we had a great time. The beds were comfortable - the views from the upper and lower decks were amazing. It could be a perfect rental if a couple hundred dollars were spent to have the little things on hand for guests. The space was fabulous - plenty of room - great table for playing games - I would recommend the rental, just bring the things you would not normally think you would need (especially the rain poncho for the use of the kitchen sink) lol.

Large open home
Enjoyed 5 nights with another couple. Plenty of room and well stocked kitchen. Agree with others regarding kitchen faucet and tub in Master bathroom. TV had Roku but no cable. Really hard to figure out. Comfortable home with lots of separate space. Very remote. Nearest small store is 15 minutes away. Great location to spend a day in Kennebunkport , time in Boothbay Harbor and Bath.

Wedding week
Staying here worked out perfectly for us. The online photos were accurate. The kitchen was very well stocked with the right tools and a wide variety of pot/pans for use. We had a great time and I highly recommend.

Fantastic family reunion spot
What a wonderful place. I was here with my three adult children and their partners. It was a great space to all be together, but also with enough room to stretch our legs. The village where this house is located is adorable. It feels like a traditional Fisherman's Village in that there are several Lobster pounds in the area, but there are also a number of vacation homes. It feels like the kind of place where the houses have been in the same family for Generations. The house itself is very comfortable with a very well-equipped kitchen. I say this as a member of a big-time foodie family that loves to cook. We had a couple of minor maintenance issues which the property manager, who happens to live two houses away, took care of immediately. Really nice guy and very responsive. The only real disappointment was that the great big upstairs jacuzzi tub is not working. Really, more of a minor inconvenience than anything else, but it would have been nice. There are lots of things to see and places to go on the Phippsburg peninsula. 25 minutes to Bath, 30 minutes to Brunswick and 1 hour to Portland. We would certainty come back!

It was a very nice house with a beautiful view.
We enjoyed ourselves very much. The house is well kept and very clean. The lock on the front door does not work with the code given, but it seems to be a very safe neighborhood so it was not a problem.

Great place for the family.
Beautiful view! Overall very nice. (Could have used a spring cleaning, but not terrible. ) The kids loved the cove nearby, great place to find sea glass!

Family Gathering on the coast of Maine
We had a lovely stay at Sou'wester in West Point. The accommodations were perfect for our family of 8. One of the bedrooms had bunk beds which we had not known ahead of time so we had to do some family rearranging since my 90-year old mother-in-law needed a room to herself. Also, we wish there had been a bathroom downstairs because it was difficult for my mother-in-law to go up and down the steep stairs. They were carpeted which was helpful. The downstairs space was large and comfortable. When we had a dinner with 20 people it was perfect. We had some family members on the outside deck and outside porch and some around the long harvest table. The kitchen sink was a big stainless steel industrial sink. Somewhat different. The faucet was difficult to use because it only had a sprayer and if you wanted a drink of water you had to spray the water into your glass. I would suggest the place add a large cutting board. It only had a tiny one. The only other issue we had was it was extremely hot in the master bedroom with all the glass doors and the afternoon sun. We did find a fan which helped. All in all, we had a wonderful stay with our family. The location was charming and beautiful. The views were a true taste of Maine.

Beautiful house in a great vacation spot.
Its the fourth time we visited Phippsburg area but the first time at this property. We knew that this area offers great views and many options for outdoor ventures. However, the stay at Sue Wester made our long weekend more enjoyable. The house has a spacious living area, beautiful balconies on both floors overlooking the ocean, and is tastefully furnished and decorated. Bill, the property manager, greeted us on arrival and made sure we knew he was there to help us. He gave us good suggestions for lobster and restaurants in the area, kayaking and hiking trips. We enjoyed kayaking to Tottman Cove beach, and then South East towards Hermit island. Bill helped us with an extra free pass to Popham State beach (a must see attraction). Thank you for making our getaway a most wonderful and memorable time! We can't wait to return.

Beautiful Maine Retreat
Our family very much enjoyed our stay at this beautiful and well cared for property. There are great ocean views off the decks. There is a small beach in a cove nearby and kayaks for rent. The town of Bath is several minutes away. The local area is quite and peaceful.

Awesome vacation spot
We enjoyed a wonderful vacation at this property. Large kitchen and dining room easily accommodated our group of 9. Awesome views off the deck of the inlet and islands. Local Phippsburg beach was great at high tide and awesome for our chocolate lab to chase seagulls at low tide. Popham beach was beautiful and easily accessed. Inexpensive and incredibly fresh lobster were purchased and enjoyed by many in our group. We enjoyed our golf outing at the Bath Golf Club. Rented the kayaks which were a great way to explore the surrounding area, and get up close to seals. Beds were comfortable, and kitchen was well equipped. The property manager was always available and eager to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Would definitely consider returning to this property in the future.

Impressive looking first floor but....
Arrived to a wonderful looking 1st floor but had to request that they come clean the tile floor and kithchen counters. They did but in spite of that floors were still dirty, we all remove shoes coming into the house and we all had filthy looking feet after walking around the house. We left the place cleaner then we found it.
The bath situation was a bit of a challenge. Master bed and bath and then 3 beds left to share the other bathroom. Master bath was very large with a small shower and a low door frame that i hit my head on a few times entering and exiting.
Was great having the washer/dryer, worked very well. The downstairs was very comfortable for us to all hang out. Kitchen was large with lots of storage for the weeks food. There were porches upstairs and downstairs to sit out on and enjoy the views.

Not quite what we bargained for
Phippsburg, Maine is a beautiful place, and we had a wonderful week there. There are 3 beaches near the property and you can kayak all around the bay. However it's important to read the fine print and be aware that this cottage is half a house, and you will be sharing the decks with your neighbors. You can hear everything they say, and vice versa. And the neighboring houses are very close, measured in feet, not yards. If privacy is important to you, then this is not the property for you.
Bill the caretaker lives next door and he was very responsive, but there were a few things that made the house less than charming. For one, you can't drink the water. They use a reverse osmosis process to supply water straight from the ocean, and it tastes like old seashells. Bring plenty of bottled water. For another, they have a commercial faucet in the kitchen (you have to be squeezing the handle to turn it on) which makes it impossible to do the dishes unless you have a third hand. This may sound petty, but we were preparing our own meals and doing lots of dishes, and this got really annoying really fast. And, you get soaked in the process. Other minor things were that one of the toilets was plugged when we got there, the DVD player didn't work, the screen door to the deck wouldn't stay on track (we finally removed it) and one of the stove burners didn't work. For the price, I felt the property should have been better maintained.

Gorgeous panoramic views with peace and solitude
We loved our family vacation here! The house is perfect and kitchen is well equipped and spacious. We loved the huge dining table and the deck and porches were used both day and night. It is a peaceful, quiet little cove with lobster boats checking traps and friendly locals . We loved the close proximity of Cat Cove- spent time exploring tidal pools and photographing the amazing sunrise from the rocks. Popham beach is a 7 minute drive and is so gorgeous. I could have spent a week there. I would love to go back here someday😀

Terrific place, great views...
This was a great experience. The house is beautiful and so are the views. The kitchen is exceptionally well stocked with settings for 14, including wine glasses, cutting boards, mixers, colanders, larger serving bowls, pitchers and pretty much anything a person could hope to find in a rental home, and the gas fireplace along with the spiral stairs leading to the third floor lookout were a hit with all our guests. I should also mention that the personal service was exceptional, with an owner that answers his own phone.

Beautiful house & views
We had trouble getting into the house. Was told the key would be in the lock box and was given explicit directions. But the box was empty; standing open. We called the on-site manager at both numbers but he did not answer. We then called John and was told to go around the back of the house because the patio door would be open. It was an ordeal because you had to go down a road and up through the walkway from below. Well, thankfully that door was unlocked. The key was inside on the entryway table.
Floors downstairs were dirty - couldn't walk around in bare feet. Otherwise, house was clean. A little inconvenient that there was no bathroom downstairs.

Lovely. Relaxing , peaceful location.
Pros: Great property. HUGE kitchen and lots of space for family dining. Beautiful view from upper deck off master bedroom. Friendly neighbors.Comfortable beds. Nice décor.
Good property manager, Bill Martin, lives close by and was very helpful.
A couple of cons: 1. Living room is a little small. Only seats 6 but we were able to pull dining room chairs over for our movie night. 2 Not enough furniture on the decks esp the upper deck....where the great views were for coffee or cocktail time.! 3: I would really list this as a sleeps 8. Yes, , there were roll away beds but the only place they would fit were in the ( absolutely lovely) Master Suite with the King sized bed.....or out in the upper hallway...a little awkward...esp for bathroom sharing. There are only 2 bathrooms and one is an en suite in the Master bedroom. So I think sleeps 8 is a more accurate description...and you could still end up with 6 people sharing one bathroom.
