The house was beautiful and very clean. Easy check in and great amenities. The beach was a little bit of a walk but a great beach to see turtles and cool off.
Beware of lots of dogs in the neighborhood.
There is also no access to turn on pool waterfalls or hot tub and hours of operation were set by owner. The water was very cool to swim in as well.
Overall we were very satisfied as they had a washer/dryer and soaps provided. Would definitely recommend.

Loved the place that we stayed and it was very clean and comfortable. Beautiful property. It was further away from a lot of the activities we did so that would be a downside, but it was very secluded in private and we really liked that.

The house was very nice. The beds were comfy. The pool was nice. Overall everything was great and we would definitely stay here again.

This wonderful property is perfect for those looking for a chance to get away from the hoardes and manufactured feel of the Ko Olina resorts. (In my opinion, you don’t even feel like you are even in Hawaii there!) But it was still close enough for us to easily and quickly get to all of the wedding related events there that brought us to Oahu.
The Makaha corner of Oahu is mostly populated with local residents. We enjoyed the authntic vibe!
We spent a few days relaxing and exploring the area’s beaches, and especially LOVED the hike to Ka’Ena point, which we did 2 times! But we didn’t mind the hour or so drive to it took to get to Hanauma Bay, the North Shore, and Kailua Beach. (We found that the highways of Oahu make getting around so much easier than on Maui.)
The beautiful home and property itself is very accurately described by the home owner and the other reviews. We had no issues with maintaining a comfortable temperature in the unit. Crowing roosters are a part of the Hawaiian experience and did not bother us. The barking dogs were a minor nuisance. But we didn’t really hear them much from inside the unit.
There was salt, pepper, oil & some spices. You will need to bring coffee or tea and sugar.
We had a great stay and would eagerly return!

We enjoyed our stay here very much! Yes, the guest "house" is attached to the owners main home, however if the owners were there, we did not see or hear them at all in the 7 days we were there. All windows near the pool had partitions and closed blinds.
The house was clean and we loved that it included beach towels, toys, chair, life jackets, etc. as did the pool. Everything we needed was available to us aside from food. The roosters did go off in the morning but we were always awake before they did so it never bothered us. There are some neighborhood dogs that barked like crazy but nothing the home owners can do about that and again, it was always after we woke. The beds/pillows were very comfortable.
Aki/Turtle Beach was a nice little neighborhood beach but we did not see any turtles out unfortunately.
The only downside for us was that the location was quite out of the way of basically everything we wanted to do on the island, which was again not the owners fault at all but I feel like it's something to mention.
All in all, it was a nice place and suited our needs!

We cannot rave enough about this beautiful rental property!! I usually do not rent places where the landlords are right there but Cynthia and her family could not have been more accommodating. Although this rental is attached to their house we virtually never saw them. They gave us all of the privacy we needed and were so quiet yet whenever we had a question they answered right away. The rental is beautiful and fully equipped with everything you could ever need. Everything is brand new and spacious. The west shore is not a popular tourist spot and a little rougher than some of the other shores but we felt completely safe at this rental and thoroughly enjoyed exploring and visiting the many gorgeous beaches close by. We could not have been happier with this rental. We would highly recommend Cynthia and her beautiful rental to anyone who wants a wonderful vacation on Oahu!! Thank you so much Cynthia for your wonderful hospitality.

This is a beautiful house however you are literally connected to the owners house and share the backyard and pool with them. They watch you the entire time you’re in the backyard and it’s strange. I’ve stayed in many VRBO’s and never shared a house or backyard with the owners. You’re not allowed to bring ANY guests to the house so if you have family you can’t bring them to the place you’re staying. Also there are cameras watching you at all times outside which is uncomfortable. There’s no privacy and when we travel and pay for a place to stay it’s not intended that we’ll be babysat by owners. Had o known this we wouldn’t have stayed at this house. The owners windows are open all the time so you literally have no privacy! The pictures are exactly what it looks like inside but they fail to show the outside and explain what part is their house and what’s yours. The pool picture doesn’t show the house either so you can see the windows that look straight to the backyard of the owners house. Also it’s a bit hot in the house and you can’t control the A/C it’s locked.
If you don’t mind sharing common areas and being watched then this house is perfect! The owner should be very specific on the description and tell you the details of them living on property in a connecting house and sharing a backyard with them!

There were pros and cons. First unit was very clean and contact for property was easily available by text message. Pool area a little disappointing water falls only ran for two hours a day from 7:45 am to 9:45 am. Not enough glassware nice assortment of appliances. Major con was surrounding neighborhood and the chicken coop behind the house with roosters which started crowing at 3:30 am, luckily second night we found the noise maker, beach near place was very small with a lot of litter on it and more than a few steps from house . At least an hour drive to anywhere like Pearl Harbor,Waikiki and airport.

Great value for a beautiful 2br guest-house-style unit, tucked away on a quiet street, hardwood floors throughout and 5-minute walk to a beach spot where turtles sunbathe!
Up-to-date kitchen with high quality countertops and appliances. Washer and dryer in the unit plus flat screen TV in each room. Pull the car right up to the front door.
Location is 45 min from HNL airport, so distant suburbs in a more rural setting. Local flavor with roosters, 2-lane roads and a small town atmosphere.
Beautiful, uncrowded west-facing beaches and Pacific sunsets are a couple of miles north; we enjoyed not being packed in urban Honolulu with overpriced accommodations. We were often the only ones for morning walks on the beach - we didn’t think this possible on Oahu. Although note the trade-off is a bit of a drive for fine dining, shopping or Waikiki city lights.

This is the best place to stay! We loved the location! The home is just like in the pictures and even nicer in person. The pool was beautiful and very refreshing after a day in the sun. The hostess (Cynthia) was always willing to answer any questions we had and was very detailed! We definitely plan to come back next year ! The beaches which are many are very close and not as crowded as the ones in Waikiki or the North shore and in my opinion more beautiful. Two large bedroom and two full bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen! Appears to he like an in-law suite but very well appointed with hard wood floors and upscale decor throughout the home . In the charming neighborhood it was probably the nicest home. Thanks again for letting us rent your beautiful home!
Loved it All
The Hedgepeth’s
PS —Feral chickens are a real in Hawaii (google it no joke)—-The neighbors Chicken which does start around 4 was faint and the house was well insulted. Simply put it was a minor allowance and definitely tolerable!

Our family had a great time at this property. Owner was very nice, responsive and easy to work with. Pool was great, house was clean and has all the amenities a family would need. As other people mentioned, yes there are chickens next door but you can plan on hearing those anywhere outside of downtown, including fancy resorts. The West side was a little bit of a drive every day, but totally worth it for the privacy and awesome beaches nearby.

Hawaii
It was fine. We were there 10 days. Cynthia and Eldon are very nice. When something came up, they handled it immediately. The upstairs home was nice and clean. Newer appliances. Everything is well kept. We visited the beach several times, saw turtles and other interesting ocean life in the tide pools. Keep the portable fans going at night & you won't hear the roosters at the neighbors. The people there are very nice. Yes we would go again.

20 year anniversary in Oaha!
Our Oahu experience was an excellent one! Our host Cynthia was prepared with answers to all our questions that were asked with a quick response. Our stay was pleasant with an excellent home with washer and dryer and all that you could ask for especially after long hiking days. Truly the comforts of home... The home was clean and inviting.. I recommend this home for my family and friends...and you! Truly Blessed to have this 'off-the-beaten-path and local hideaway. Oh, and btw, the roosters did not bother us even with their rootin' as there was a white noise machine in the bedroom. Thank you again and we sure hope to be back soon!

Family trip in Hawaii!
The house was beautiful, clean, easy to access. Thw home did not have anywhere for our son to sleep so we ended up borrowing a pack and play from a friend. The rooms had more than enough space for the pack and play with extra space for our clothes and suitcases. The walk to the beach was only about 5 minutes! The home is located in a nice neighborhood. The home is within the west shore so there is not any tourist attractions near the home. There is a small restaurant about 5 miles down the road that was fantastic and there are some food trucks that stop on the corner that we went to a few times. The owners were quick to respond with anything we needed. The pool was a bit cold but it was the winter. So we only went to it once.
I did give 4 stars for the neighbors for a few reasons. One was when we were at the pool, the neighbor had a dog pin right next to the wall so from the pool you could smell the dog poop.
The other thing is, the roosters. There were not one. Not two. But maybe 15. They start at about 5 am and don't stop crowing until about 10 pm. It was funny for the first few days but at about the 4th day it was a bit much. The rooms had noise machines to help drown out the sound which helped but if you had the bedroom windows open it sounded as if the roosters were in the room.
There have been reviews with the windows not opening. The handles were taken off of the windows in the main room but the bedrooms were able to open.
The thermostat also had a box over it but the temperature was comfortable for all of us.
Overall it was a great home in a non tourist area. Perfect if you want secluded space and a wonderful home.

Wonderful spacious unit on west end of Oahu
All aspects of our stay were very positive (except perhaps the roosters crowing at 2 am next door). Beautiful surroundings near ocean access to watch sea turtles. A 45 minute drive to Waikiki and major attractions but worth the effort to have less commercialization. Hosts were very responsive and gracious.

Breathtaking
The rental was clean and well stocked with necessities. It was easy to find and in a close location to the beach. We seen two turtles while swimming at the local beach. Our stay couldn’t have been more flawless and beautiful!!! Can’t wait to come back.

Anniversary trip
Very nice property located away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Nice beach minutes walk from property. Hidden gem of a beach where you can see sea turtles. Several other beaches nearby. Only downsides, you would need a car to see the island. Can take about an hour to get to Waikiki. This was not an issue for us, we knew about it and planned for it. Preferred to stay in a quieter area. The other downside was the roosters. The neighbor had chickens in the backyard and the roosters woke us up early every morning. We are from the east coast so we were up early anyway due to the 6 hour time difference

Nice get away
The home it’s very nice there were only three things that I didn’t notice on the reviews. The unit is up a flight of stairs, which I was not aware of. My sister-in-law just had knee surgery, but we did manage. The other is the rooster, most reviews made light of it, but personally it bothered me because it does grow nonstop for several hours. Other than that it’s a bit of a drive to the rest of the island but it’s a beautiful home.

Hawaii house rental
This property was great. It was a little far from the popular locations on the island, but it was perfect for us. We loved the beaches that were close and didn’t mind driving to the other locations. Having a washer and dryer comes in handy for keeping clothing clean and dry in a humid climate.. we really enjoyed it!

Loved this secluded Home
The property is lovely and in a quiet location. The turtle beach is beautiful. Make sure to go to the beach in the afternoon at high tide to sea the big turtles sunning.
The home is cozy and has everything needed.
We cook breakfast and dinner everyday without needing anything but the food.
Pool is spectacular with the waterfall, and the owner even changed the time it turned on. The owner was very helpful, when we got there the temp was at 75 and they sent Art to change it to 71. There are floor fans as well and it was so comfortable.
This is a guest home and so there were others in the main house but we had the use of the pool and almost never saw them.
The friendly roosters made sure to let us know they were there each day but didn't disturb our sleep.
We would definitely stay again.

The property was easy to find and absolutely beautiful! Fully equipped with everything you need to enjoy the beach and have a relaxing, comfortable stay. Amazing beach access with sea turtles!
Our party included my husband and myself, his elderly parents (82 & 75), and our children (ages 7 & 10). From the youngest to the oldest, we all enjoyed our stay at this property. Aki’s Beach is a hidden gem, a 2 minute walk from the property, and so picturesque. We found sea turtles sleeping there in the morning, and they swam with us in the afternoons. The property owners are so wonderful and were very quick to respond to any questions we had. If you are looking for a more quiet place to stay, away from the high tourist traffic, but still close to everything Honolulu has to offer, I highly recommend this place.

A Nice Guest House/Apartment on Owner's Property
First of all, the rental was a nice space--sparkling clean and well appointed. Kitchen is well-stocked with equipment, but no spices, etc. Our only issue was that we didn't realize this property was on the owners' property---Owners were extremely nice, but they maintained control of temperature in our living space at 75 degrees with handles removed from windows--I'm sure guests in past have run up the electricity bills in the past. We talked owners into decreasing temp by 1 degree on 1st night of stay and another degree on fourth night. They also brought in floor fans. I prefer not to stay on someone else's property when possible, and I like to control my own living space. Though the owners were not intrusive, I was aware of them during most of the time I was there. Still, a very nice property.

Very enjoyable stay
We really enjoyed the spacious property The pool and barbecue area was very private. The kitchen was well equipped. Overall the stay was very nice. The home is not waterfront, but a small beach nearby was a great spot. We saw some turtles some of which crawled up on the beach.

Very nice home, great amenities, close to beaches, and roosters
As the title says, this is a beautiful and well-appointed home. It's basically a self-contained guest unit attached to the owner's home, with a private entrance. The pool and outside areas are shared with the homeowner, but we never encountered them while we were there.
The home has just about everything you need: generous and modern kitchen appliances, laundry (which we didn't use), towels, some board games, cable TV, and wireless Internet. There were some kitchen staples on hand (pepper, dish soap, etc.), but others were lacking (vegetable oil, spices, etc. - the kind of things that are hard to buy in very small quantities). There's a grocery store nearby, and we ended up buying more than we needed and left some behind.
The pool is a very nice touch. The waterfall is programmed to operate from 4:00 to 6:00 pm and you cannot control it.
The only complaint I have is that nearby neighbors have roosters that start crowing around 4:30 each morning. I strongly suggest bringing earplugs. Maybe the host could provide a white noise machine to help mask the noise.
The owner was very attentive to our needs, checked in on us by text, and we got our full deposit back.

Lovely Home
We loved this home. The ONLY drawback for me was not having control over the thermostat. I would have liked it cooler. That said, the listing DOES say that for a daily fee you can change the temp and the owners are so friendly that a quick convo could have remedied the matter. I'm just pointing that out so you can address it ahead of time if it's important to you. Really a terrific home. We would stay here again.

The home was absolutely gorgeous and well kept! The neighborhood was very different we had anticipated. The rental home was the best home in this neighborhood!

Beautiful place
This place was exceptional, from pulling into the driveway to stepping into the place, we felt very comfortable and relaxed in this home. The walking distance to the beaches and the smells of the flowers all throughout the neighborhood made this a memorable place to stay in. Would stay again for sure in this house if we have a chance to get back.

Clean, close to the beach...
Great property. Beautiful guest house. Pool was an added bonus. Only down fall was the rooster next door who gets going about 3 a.m. and goes All morning Long

Lovely guest house very well appointed.
This guest house was extremely lovely, gorgeous hardwood floors, well decorated and all the things you'd need. The pool was an extremely nice asset and the 5 minute walk to a small beach where you can see sea turtles up close made it delightful. The stars at night were tremendous as well. The hosts were very easy to work with and the manager is extremely helpful and friendly. That said it is useful for travelers to know that Waianae and the west coast in general is very secluded, rural and not particularly oriented toward tourists, ie: the traffic to get there was unexpectedly slow, there are very few restaurants (basically fast food), and no tourist stores, as well as limited groceries available nearby. There is a neighboring rooster that is quite vocal and the public beaches nearby are lovely but have some more permanent resident activity. That said is was a very lovely place to stay and we were able to get out to other parts of the island from there, just useful to know what is and isn't there prior to your arrival.

Beautiful Guest Home close to the BEACH!
We saw so many turtles at the beach, it was magical. Beautiful sunsets... the private pool was perfect. Away from the crowds and very relaxing.

Great times had by all!
We very much enjoyed the local beach, which is down the street, as well as the sea turtles that you can observe at the beach every time you visit. The pool was refreshing daily as well, and staying at this location provided more of a local experience as opposed to the large hotels in the area. Thanks to Elton and Cynthia!

Well cared for. Owner and Property manager were great communicators. Well stocked Kitchen. Beds were unbelievably comfortable. Ton of Beach gear to use. Pool was Awesome. Lunch or Dinner BBQ on the Lanai. Felt like Home right away!! Turtle (Aki) Beach was a nightly ritual, for the best sunsets and turtle watching on the west shore!

Amazing and Welcoming Accommodations
Our two weeks at Elton & Cynthia's was absolutely wonderful!! The guesthouse was beautiful, well-appointed and private. The private pool was absolutely fantastic, and the beach items made available were used almost daily at the close-by beautiful beaches that we had virtually to ourselves for hours at a time and saw sea turtles at every day. One beach is less than a 5 minute walk down the street and is absolutely beautiful and perfect for sunset (and always filled with several visiting turtles). We did have to learn how the solar hot water system worked to insure we could handwash some kitchen items and shower at appropriate times, and how to turn on the pool waterfalls.. Wow! Tough, huh? The ONLY other issue was quickly seeing that the traffic needed to be negotiated at off-times to avoid sitting in backups here and there, but arrival at the guesthouse would always make it worth it, even when we'd get caught. Our only REGRET was that both Elton & Cynthia are busy, travelling people and we had very little time with them. Would have been great to get to know them better. We couldn't have picked a better place to spend the two weeks we wanted to take for a restful recovery after a very tough year. Our hosts were so mindful of our elderly mom and her needs too. We found out they'd even readied a downstairs room in their home for her in case she found the stairs to be too much!! How's that for hospitality?! On our walks, the neighbors were always very friendly and we felt so welcome. Beautiful flowers and plantings in the area were as spectacular as the beautiful home we stayed at. We'll never forget the great time we had staying there. Private, peaceful, beautiful, and with everything you needed. Who could ask for anything more? (Except to stay longer!!) Aloha at its best...
