Nothing really but hotel part was a little dated

Restaurant and Bar were great - staff most helpful!
The Double bed - excellent.
Shoddy fittings in room / spotlights over wash basin did not work cupboard under wash basin in poor condition (temporary repair job!) wallpaper scratched on bedroom wall. Shower/ bath need an upgrade! No information on changing of bed linen or towels - bed linen only changed on request, after 4 nights! Front entrance of hotel (exterior) scruffy - needs an upgrade etc! Bar closed 24/12 and 26/12 in evening!

The location was great, only a short drive from Saltburn and an hour from South Shields for the great north run. The reception staff were friendly and helpful.
Unfortunately the beds were hard and the walls near the children’s beds were dirty. The bathroom needed some updating, there was rust in the bath and chipped vanity. The sink would not drain. We had a meal and chose to sit outside and despite this being logged on the system, after 30 minutes of waiting we went to the bar to order. Due to the wait we were eating as the sun came down and went back inside for dessert. We notified the team working but were left again and after 15 minutes decided not to bother and head to bed.

Very good breakfast, evening meal not so good, rooms adequate, outside area good
Room next to road noisy, also was very disappointed they only took card payments no cash at bar and restaurant, which we weren’t told about before we booked

Easy to find and plenty of free parking. The garden would have been beautiful to sit in for a drink if the weather had been better. We needed to be close to Guisborogh to meet a friend the folilowing day after a very ling drive and Cross Keys was perfect
Nothing. We were very impressed with the value and quality

The bedroom was really clean and comfortable. The dining room is lovely.
Overall the hotel is a bit tired. Although it was clean it could do with an update. Net curtains in bedroom had holes in them. As we opened the curtains the rail fell off the wall but we managed to put it back. Bathroom although it was clean could do with some tlc.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was very good every time we ate in the restaurant, waiting time was short and the service was very good
Bathroom in the rooms looked a bit tired and could do with renovation apart from that everything was fine. Wi-fi wasn't very good but that could be down to the location, not their fault.

Fantastic place. Staff were friendly, rooms were great and the breakfast was lovely. Incredibly reasonably priced, and will go again of back up there I'm the future.
Nit picking maybe, but a plug socket next to the bed would have been useful. Otherwise it was fantastic and cannot fault.

We like to settle in early after dinner with a bit of tv ,the reception was terrible, kept losing the signal, disappointing ,good job we had e books ,

Lovely comfy beds, good size room, lovely pub. Bar/restaurant staff were fab.
bathroom very dated and in need of refurbishment. cabinets chipped / overly worn. Sink plug was faulty and I phoned the number listed as reception was unmanned after 7pm. Had to leave a message advising of the problem - sink filled up and wouldn’t empty. Asked that someone come before too late as two children below 10 in the room. Didn’t receive any response and when queried at departure was told phone lines were faulty last night and they had only just found out so the message wasn’t received. I sincerely hope this was the genuine case. Also, scrambled eggs at brunch were dry and cold. Would query whether left over from breakfast.

was very clean and well kept. the decor was up to date. the staff where absolutely unbelievable they where understanding and tolerant of my daughters additional needs. they didnt judge and she warmed to them all. she ended up knowing all staff by first name. and each if them her back. i would absolutely recommend this place for anyone to stay and chef and brewer should note how lucky they are to have such a amazing team working together.

This is a lovely hotel / restaurant in a convenient location for touring the area. It is well presented and inviting.
The hotel decor was very pleasant always laid out ready for guests. The restaurant was perfect, not the usual burgers or steaks and sourdough bread but a varied menu of meat and fish dishes beautifully cooked and presented, lovely variety of deserts .
The waiting staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble, I can say they made the stay most pleasant.
The all menus had a large variety of cooked dishes as well as smaller plates, also catering for vegetarian and vegan choices again with a wide variety . You could stay the week and not have the same meal twice. The accommodation , although very clean the accessible bathroom needs an update and a fresh pair of eyes. Lots of rust around the handrails. No hot water in the wash basin and loose taps very difficult to turn on and off. Shelf too small and sloping so nothing stays on.
I will certainly stay again if visiting the area. I would like to thank all the staff from management to cleaners and especially the kitchen staff you did an excellent job.

Decent choice of breakfast. Comfy bed. Well located for a range of tourist destinations.
Hadn't realised it was on such a busy road so it was much noisier than I would have chosen. Our room was an accessible room and the wetroom bathroom was not in best condition. Shower area needed a good scrub really. As road was so noisy then did not want to open window but room was quite stuffy. Also right by the start of the corridor from reception so quite noisy with people coming and going. Wifi not very strong (only mattered if you needed good access for work or whatever)

Large room with a large comfortable bed. Good range of breakfast and dinner choices.
The hotel is in a very noisy location adjacent to a busy dual carriageway. A room at the back might be OK but our room was just 5 metres from the road and noisy in the evening and from around 6 am despite triple glazing. The room was very spartan and cell-like with no decoration and there were no sockets at all on the same side of the room as the bed. The bathroom was shabby and in need of refurbishment and the extractor fan rattled very noisily. It was very difficult/impossible to log-in to the wifi.
Despite the good breakfast and dinner menus the food was indifferently cooked, with inedible roast potatoes at dinner (quickly replaced with chips on request I must admit) and underdone poached eggs at breakfast. Last breakfast orders at 08.45 am was ridiculously early and after that time the staff seemed to disappear. Our table wasn't cleared and to get a second cup of coffee (no self service) it was necessary to seek someone out.
