This is our second time at this hotel, perfect location, comfortable rooms, dog-friendly.🥰
Room price high...but worth it 👌

I had a fantastic stay here and would highly recommend this hotel!! Staff are friendly, knowledgeable about the area, and very happy to help. Breakfast was lovely and served in a cosy room with lovely views. The hotel is gorgeous and the grounds and views are stunning.
I have no negatives, but just a warning that this hotel is a 15min walk or short drive from Grasmere so just be prepared if you don't have a car to be slightly out of the way of the main village (I walked to and from the hotel and it was beautiful all the way!)

The staff were lovely, hard working and approachable. We had a nice packed lunch which we ordered the evening before for taking on a walk the following day. The property is lovely and it was super dog and child friendly. You can do lovely walks to Helm Crag and Easedale Tarn from the front door as well as a half a mile walk to Grasmere. Parking is easy too.
The vegetarian options at breakfast and on the dinner menu were poor. There were no eggs available at breakfast and initially only meat options or beans available. There was only bread and fruit with yogurt for us veggies which was not great value. The staff ensured that mushrooms and tomatoes were available the next morning with veggie sausage. The room was nicely appointed but small.

Spectacular location and gorgeous building. We had the easedale room with the chairs looking out onto the grounds, which was beautiful. Our room was rather spacious which meant there was plenty of room for our luggage and photography gear. The double radiator was helpful for drying our soaked camera bags, clothes and boots. The bed was comfortable and clean, and the staff were really friendly and helpful.
The bathroom needed updating, and bathroom towels are only refreshed every 3 days, so you have to pay £6 per day for fresh towels. The Lake District tends to be rather wet and muddy. Although we managed with the towels provided for two days, this was a tad irksome. Our floor shower mat ended up looking rather grotty and we ended up using the only hand towel for stepping out of the shower. A fresh mat for the floor and/or an additional hand towel would have been useful.

Food choice on menu very good. But over priced
Small cups only at breakfast and had to wait for hot water. Too many people trying to serve themselves at breakfast buffet. Would have liked eggs for breakfast!

If you’re looking for somewhere gorgeous to stay that’s lower cost in the lakes … the staff, the food, the views out your bedroom window and on your doorstep at this hotel are something else!
Big loves to Katrina though who has been an absolute angel during our stay and accommodating our needs that were all being a bit awkward (not on purpose just timing wise) … THANK YOU XX

Beautiful property with some original features and the location is perfect
Room was small for the price, you should state on the booking page that the free breakfast is continental and that if you want a cooked breakfast you pay extra , the coffee machine in the breakfast room serves only warm coffee eventually got a pot of tea instead,

Really appreciated understanding our personal circumstances around needing to postpone initial booking and very accommodating with rebooking.
Location amazing so peaceful amazing views so quiet lovely large grounds....friendly welcome and relaxed environment.
Staff made us feel so at home and they were down to earth.
Come and go as you please entry code system.
Easy parking
Wow factor entrance
To summarise
You have an amazing hotel that we'd be more than happy to return to but we feel you just need to week a few things to make it worth the price.we paid..
Surprised cooked breakfast was only on certain days and extra especially as paid £350 for 2 nights.
Continental breakfast was nice but limited choices
Eg would have liked jam and marmalade for toast.
Instant coffee disappointing but on request did offer speciality coffees and hot chocolate.
Upgraded to garden and mountain view so surprised and disappointed we couldn't see mountain from 'Fletcher' room.
Felt security on main door was relaxed.
Eg wide open at 10pm and 6.45am

The location is amazing, views are great, short walk to town where you can find Bars and restaurants
We had two rooms, both of which were in need of a spider catcher, cob webs in the bathrooms, beds need updating.
Not the best considering the price

The bed was really comfortable and the grounds were nothing short of magnificent.
Our room (Nightingale) had a lot of issues which I told the management about when we were leaving. I wouldn't want to list them here as this would put people off and that's not what I want to do. I believe this room is due for an upgrade and that the bathroom needs attention. We were still charged £349 for two nights for this with no apology, even when I mentioned all the negative points. I wasn't after a refund, just an apology really.
They are very short staffed and had a new guy that was being trained up. Its a shame this seemed to effect our overall experience because the lack of enough staff is evident in all areas.
This place could be amazing, its such a shame. Top marks to the lady who seemed to be doing everything pretty much single handedly. She works so hard.
The breakfast is chargeable and there was no continental breakfast option explained to us, just cereal and juice on the sideboard. No croissants or nice breads or cold meats, jams or cheese etc? Quite poor. Full cooked breakfast is available at Heidi's in the village for £3 cheaper than here and served with a smile with quick service. The English Breakfast Tea was so lovely too.
I think our stay was spoiled by a lot of the little things and attention to detail in this hotel that makes a holiday special. On balance I would return if the issues I mentioned to the management were resolved.
This place is great for dogs and we had ours with us. A few more dog waste bins would be very useful, as there was just one near the car park which was full to the brim all the time.
Please give the Lancrigg a try, its such a beautiful and stunning setting and they're trying their best. If you're given the Nightingale room on arrival, ask if its been upgraded.

the menu was different to what’s online and although was lovely, maybe could do with some simpler meal options

The views from the Lancrigg were incredible and the staff were so friendly and lovely.
We had to wait in reception for a couple of minutes due to the restaurant being busy. But it was no inconvenience. Was struggling to find a negative here

A slightly quirky, off-beat hotel with loads of charm and character, great views /setting and a friendly family feel.
Although the food was good, some of the menu items seemed to be trying too hard to be different.

The hotel was in a beautiful spot, right on the Coast to Coast hike and easy walking distance to the town. Room was comfy, though small. Breakfast was delicious with lots of options.
We waited 20 minutes for any acknowledgment when we arrived, then were rushed through check-in and told details / wifi etc would be in our room (they weren't). Also told that food would stop being served at 5pm (check-in was from 4pm), so we needed to walk into town for dinner. The bar looked beautiful, but we didn't get to experience it. On check in, we were told to go down to breakfast at 8.15, but when we did the girl told us they weren't ready. Our whole experience felt like we were an inconvenience, which is a shame because it's a stunning property.
