Everything was good 👍
They ran out of ketchup. Hardly a major issue. No kettle for tea
4.0
The ambience and quality of the venue was wonderful
There was a shortage of staff which impacted on some elements of service.

Je kunt hier prima verblijven, lekker eten in het restaurant en een prima kamer, lekker stil

old style of building, staff were wonderful, food excellent
room was a little squashed for 3
1.5
Staff were all friendly and helpful.
Room was a twin, not a double. Extremely dated room, bad shower, some mould on the tiles. We booked dinner in the pub downstairs when we arrived. Waited 90 mins for food that was so bad we didn't even eat.

Visiting family in Holmes. Chapel location good
But expensive for one person for two nights 2 people sharing cheeper
1.5
Breakfast was tasty enough but everything came at once so you had to start with the cooked food to avoid it going cold.
Nowhere to relax if you did not want to use the bar areas. No easy chair in the rooms.
The place looked nice and interesting from the photo but the bedrooms were in two widely separated modern blocks which badly needed refurbishment. It is essentially a motel.

Food was very good
Room was not clean, chair in room was stained Too hot and there was no heating on. Silage had been sprayed in fields but we needed windows open as room was just top hot. Bathroom was not very clean either.
3.5
it was nice enough
the fact I had to walk through a crowded bar and dining room separate entrance would have been better.
bed was extremely hard and it was too hot a fan should be in the wardrobe if needed

The hotel is a little gem that was perfect for what we wanted. Next time we visit Oulton Park, we will definitely stay here
Everything was great

Breakfast
The room....in need of modernisation. Noisy plumbing pipes in wall making a racket all night long. Overly hot room - opening window brought in road noise.
No chair in single room.
2.5
The staff were lovely, helpful and friendly. The restaurant had a decent menu and the food was great.
The room was a decent size, spacious and the bed was comfortable. The room was well cleaned.
The hotel rooms are in need of renovation..although to be fair this is acknowledged in a note in the room. One of the bedside lights wasn't working, handles missing from drawers, peeling paint on the ceiling, exceptionally warm room - had to have windows open all night - traffic noise might be a problem to light sleepers. However the price is probably pitched to account for the need for an update.
2.5
Polite, friendly staff. Breakfast sounded better than what was served, except 10/10 for the poached eggs, just perfect.
This was the third time we have stayed here as it is convenient when visiting family.
The original buildings do need some TLC, hopefully without spoiling the look and atmosphere of the place. Our bedroom had a 3 inch hot water pipe running along two walls and even with radiator turned off, the room was too warm for our comfort even with the two small windows wide open. Looking forward to seeing the place after the announced refurbishment.
Heat, see above.
Hoovering the dining room carpet while we were eating breakfast.
Apart from these, we were quite satisfied.

Unwelcome arrival

Food and atmosphere in the bar was nice
Lots of road noise in the room and room was cold. This is down tho to lack of investment. New windows would help.
3.5
Lovely pub, good ale and wide food menu.
Shower good and large towels.
Staff that I met were pleasant and cheerful.
Accommodation area was very tired and in real need of upgrading. There was a message to say that this was planned but no signs of anything changing.
Breakfast was mostly OK.
I was slightly surprised at the price but needed a place to stay; pre-Covid this would have to have been considerably cheaper.

All the staff we met were helpful and generally friendly. The rooms were OK and clean, though in need of refurbishment. The wifi worked well. The supply of towels was generous and there were both bar and liquid soaps.
On our first evening, Christmas Eve, the pub was lively and fun, with enthusiastic staff preparing for the following day. Every other night, when we got back – even as early as 10:15 – the pub was shut! So effectively we were not staying at a friendly country pub, but in a row of rooms in need of refurbishment (one of our two rooms even had no door handle!). I can understand staff needing to close up and get some rest after the rigours of Christmas Day, but not on 26th and 27th of December as well. A major attraction of staying here was the thought of spending the end of the day over a nice drink in nice surroundings, so this was a big disappointment.

I read a few reviews that said the property was dated... To be honest, I've stayed in places that cost more and felt a little more dated (although they are renovating this year).
Stayed here with my nine year old son, and partner for four nights. Breakfast was superb everyday, the staff were friendly and to be honest? My room was tidied for me, all my stuff was there, I heard zero noise from the pub, and it was nice to be able to eat at the pub.
The owner of this place (I think it was the owner) was so lovely too - everyone was just really nice!
A little noisy from the upstairs - I imagine its because it is an old building but you could hear people walking, but I'm a relatively heavy sleeper and had no issues when I was actually sleeping, it was more when people arrived.
I do feel the food could have been cheaper if you were staying there, and room service or something would have been awesome. But the food was fantastic and I love vintage inn's so - it is wat it is.
But you know, for what we paid (£100/n for 3 guests inc breakfast) - can't really complain.
Weirdly the breakfast varied from day to day massively - whomever was the chef that put the parsley on the breakfast, it was top notch, then there was one who didn't (probably not many would notice that as they didn't stay for long as me).
Overall - decent location, I stayed there because my brother lives in Sandbach :)!
P.s. there is a Co op about 3 minutes away which has fuel plus food. Lots of great pubs and food in Sandbach too!

My previous review covers this, I stayed in a single room on the first night and with my daughter on the second night, our twin room was excellent. interesting old building, friendly staff, good accommodation.
Nothing of any significance, all went very well at a busy time.
4.0
Very nice setting, friendly staff, good food bar/restaurant. We gathered with extended family for a meal together in the restaurant the following day, which was excellent, quite remarkable service on a very busy festive occasion. All hardworking staff maintained a calm happy friendly presence throughout, serving great food. we were all most impressed.
Nothing if significance except to add that the en-suites we’re a little old, but kept clean and fresh and well maintained.

I arrived when they were busy, but they did their best after they checked me in, and they upgraded me free of charge. There is an easy warmth about the establishment, and the individual staff members I encountered always smiled and got things sorted.
