5 star service and vegetarian friendly
I did not like how dark it was at night time. Needs more light to get around. They provide you with a flood light but as a solo female traveller, it can be daunting and scary at night. Although the resort is perfectly safe.

One of the best hotels with most amazing views, great way to disconnect.

It was pretty hard to fault this place.
We’ve never stayed anywhere so amazing.
We think the view from the pool would be hard to rival - anywhere in the world.

We loved everything, from the moment you arrive to departure, this place unreal. Spectacular.
Nothing.

Great location and wonderful view. You can feel that all of the facilities (i.e. restaurants, spa, swimming pool, cafe, and bar) were made with lots of thoughts put into them. Food, drinks, and services were all good.
Nothing. Best you can expect from Sapa. Just hoped that we had more clear weather.

The views are mesmerizing. The hotel is located above stunning rice paddies and having built such a beautiful lodge there is amazing.
The pool views is one of the best you’ll ever see.
The level of service and food were below expectations. Starting from that there is no electric buggies between rooms and facilities whereas the distances could be fairly large.
But the main inconvenience was the hardship of communicating with the staff, while its great that they stick with employing people from the locals that mostly come without any previous experience in hospitality, there is very large room for improvement.

This lives up to the hype as a stunning location with such a relaxing atmosphere. The views (Weather permitting) are stunning. Excursions are really worthwhile and facilities are great.
There are 3 restaurants but only 2 open in Early May but a decent choice for Breakfast and dinner. They also have bars open and complimentary sundown drinks.
Staff are excellent.
Very little. The only slight niggle is that a shower curtain is pretty dated in 2023

This property is stunning. It feels like something out of a storybook. Our villa was beautiful and the heated infinity pool was wonderful. The breakfast is so yummy.

the view
stayed at Topas Ecolodge for one night.
At arrival, we were greeted unfriendly by a lady receptionist (not even a welcome smile and showed attitude). I understand that this is a pet unfriendly hotel, but I do not understand how an eco friendly hotel based upon the mountain with open space and naturist setting didn't allow a home breeding bird to stay at our bungalow room where it has its own balcony. note: there were chickens and ducks everywhere.
We were also been asked not to fly a drone here by the same receptionist. Seriously?! There is not a drone flight restriction zone here and no live electrical cable running.
Food was sub-standard, and extremely over priced. A coconut water costs $4 here. You really need to make sure your visa card is fully loaded.
There is no bus shuttle to transfer you from the reception area to your room, so please wear something comfortable and prepare to walk under the sun with the heat of 37C in the summer.

It is way more than a normal hotel. There are 41 bungalows spread at the top of the mountain. The view is just amazing. The bungalow we were staying in was great, everything you need for your comfort was available yet is was simple. The two infinity pools offered great opportunities to relax and cool down. The restaurant was very good with lots of options at fair prices. The restaurant manager Kasper was super friendly and we had the chance to visit the wine cellar with him. We did one day (8 km) of walking with a guide and it was the best way to enjoy the rice terraces. The hotel is not in Sapa, but there is a free shuttle and the view is much better at the Topas than at Sapa and it is way more calm. I would gladly go back there if the occasion present itself !

After spending a night in busy Sapa town, we retreated deeper into the mountains for peace and quiet at Topas Ecolodge in Hoang Lien National Park…far, far away from the hustle and bustle. The property practices sustainable tourism and hires 98% of their staff from local minority hill tribes. It’s really an amazing place, and I’ve never seen so many stars in the night sky!! We woke up in the morning to crisp mountain air, chirping birds and chorusing cicadas, not exhaust fumes and honking cars.
You may not get many food options at Topas Ecolodge, but what was available was pretty good, and the overall service for our stay had been exquisite and reflective of their roots…right balance of Scandinavian attention to details and functionality, married with warm Vietnamese hospitality 👍🏼
To truly enjoy Topas Ecolodge, you must identify with the sustainable eco-tourism ethos that they operate on, because you won’t get some of the common amenities you’re used to. No in-room TV, no in-room wifi, no mini-bar, no single use plastics (so no bottled water, etc). You can get free hotel wifi at the lobby, pool and restaurant, otherwise use your own mobile data if it’s that important. Many of the things they do have a sustainable objective and benefit the minority communities, even if it means guests have to pay a little more for the experience. It’s kind of like paying more for organic foods…it’s only worth it if you believe in the benefits vs regular foods that you can get for a fraction of the cost.
I’d planned the itinerary without telling my wife the details. When we checked into Topas and she found out all the incredible things that they do, she said I should’ve booked more nights 😂
I’d mentioned in my booking that my wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and the staff thoughtfully put a cake and a bottle of champagne in our room!
We loved the place and are already talking about going back on our next holiday.

We loved the view from our bungalow suite that overlooked rice fields and the epic mountain scenery of Sa Pa. The pool was never crowded and the pool bar staff took great care of us with drinks and service while at the pool. Dinner service offered a variety of choices on the menu and we loved everything we had the 3 nights we were there. The dinner wait staff was so kind and knowledgeable. The quality of everything was outstanding.
Honestly nothing. I think some people would complain about the lack of access to wifi outside of the main common areas, but I would say that you're in Sa Pa to escape so enjoy the peace.
