beautiful old building with lovely comfortable accommodation in a great location and with very friendly staff.

The pub is beautiful & so are the rooms. It’s such a character property & the food was amazing (so much so we’ve said we’ll come back even though it’s an hour & a half drive away from us!) The staff were really friendly & the service was excellent.
I really think the property description on Booking.com needs re-writing to avoid people having to write anything in this box because it detracts from what is a great place. I’d suggest changing:
The check out time. Its advertised as 11am when actually its 10am. Not a problem for us but you could have someone argue the toss if they wanted to.
Tell people there’s no double glazing. It is really noisy at night in the room especially being in Room 3 that faces the main road. It took me well into the early hours to get to sleep because of the traffic & people leaving the pub. Again not a problem for us but some people might not want that.
Mention the stairs up to the rooms. Anyone with mobility issues will really struggle getting up to the rooms so it would be best they know when they read the description rather than getting there to find it out.
Explain what your version of a continental breakfast is. I imagined going into the pub & having a continental breakfast there not nipping down the stairs to the landing & then trying to take the items back to the room up the steep stairs. There’s lots of food to choose from but the selection is a bit obscure (I’ve never eaten a sausage roll for breakfast but there’s a first for everything isn’t there!) I appreciate its complimentary but it’s an odd set up that I can see from all of the reviews divides the masses more towards the negative.
Loads of people have asked for a shelf/basket to be put in the shower. That would be a massive help, today was an unusual first for me….. I had to hold my razor handle in my mouth while I put shower gel in my hands to avoid getting my hair wet. Devastatingly I ended up with shower gel in my mouth 😂😂, I will not do that again!
Your pub & rooms are gorgeous & will sell themselves from good reviews & pictures.

great pub
a little noisy

Good location for central Abingdon. Polite staff but room 1 above pub with music and noise until after midnight, so woken up when kicking out time. No tea and coffee facilities in room, but there was juice and water in fridge on the landing. Room very recently upgraded so it was comfortable and modern in an old creaky floorboards building. Felt it was expensive with no cooked breakfast.

Great pub with a lovely atmosphere, lots of different beers, a scrumptious menu and fabulous staff.
The room was very clean. Portable heater.
Instead of a large double, it features two single beds pushed together. Probably one of the worst beds we ever slept on, hard as a rock, waking up in pain.
The breakfast is terrible. It's essentially a help yourself to whatever is in a small fridge, open packets of cheese and meat, packaged croissants, cold sausage rolls, but no possibility to heat anything up. The coffee machine didn't work so we had tea and juice.
We found it too expensive for what it offers.

Friendly, full of character and very clean
Whilst a gorgeous room, if I would change anything, could do with brighter lighting

Fabulous. In terms of value for money you simply can't go wrong. Food, drink, atmosphere and more importantly the staff make this a great place to stay. We will be back.

Good breakfast, food in the bar and live music. Friendly staff and central location. Would stay again and recommend

Lovely big bedroom, comfy bed and modern bathroom. Good location, couple of minutes walk in to town.
Parking right outside the pub although only a couple of spaces which aren't reserved.
Nice selection of food and drinks for breakfast on a 'help youraelf' basis
Not much lighting in the bedroom and only a mirror in the bathroom so difficult getting ready.
Music in the pub continued until about 1.30am

Loved the location, very close to the town center and having a pub downstairs was great. The rooms were very well equipped and clean. Bed very comfortable.
I loved the property but don’t bring a heavy suitcase as the stairs are a challenge - as is parking.

The room was fantastic (Room3), pub was lovely, staff fantastic.
The only negative was the loud road noise.

Room was a great size
Noise from bar

Staff were great, the location was perfect and the room and bed were very comfortable and not too hot or too cold.
The help-yourself breakfast was alright but there was no where to sit and eat it and the room it was served in was a tiny little cubby-hole with only room for one person at a time. But there was a good variety of food and a lovely coffee machine. So this is not a complaint - merely an observation.

Nothing!

The room was lovely and clean, although the shower head needs to be descaled as the jets were not firing straight.
The staff were lovely too.
There wasn't a vegan option even though this was advertised as an option. I was very hungry all day at work :(

Handy just off the A34 to break my journey to Bournemouth
The bar had just closed when I arrived so I wasent able to get a night cap drink to relax me after my long drive. The bar staff had already cashed up.

Self service continental breakfast was fine but a bit awkward to deal with. A tray would have helped

Location was ok although parking during the day was a bit hit and miss.
Something were good but let down by missed tricks in design
I think the breakfast arrangements were not ideal

A great looking pub with lots of character inside. Had a lovely relaxing meal in the pub, despite it been pub quiz night (which helped to add to the experience). Very big comfy bed to rest in after a long day hiking. And a nice breakfast with a good selection to start the new day.

Central location and very good food
Room was in the front and a bit noisy in the morning if I go again I’d ask for room 1
