The location was brilliant, near to the West Lakes, the beach, and a lovely forest. And Gosforth centre to walk down to. Very well-kept, old property with modern yet sympathetic upgrades. The beer garden is large and there was a band on too. Great people and staff and lovely food.
We liked everything

The history of the building, but the quality of the renovation is exceptional.

Everything. Nothing was too much trouble. My wife struggled up and down the stairs with a poorly knee and a dodgy ticker. However, room was perfect and so clean. Food was delicious. Managed to sit in the new garden in the sunshine which was lovely 😍
Absolutely nothing. Was so sorry we had to leave as we were so chilled. Good food, plenty to eat and sunshine in beautiful surroundings. What more could you ask for.

Great location, right on the western border of the NP handy for Scafell Pike and Wasdale but also the coast
V Comfy bed and faultlessly clean room
Good breakfast
Extremely dog friendly although I don't agree with charging additional charges per dog per night
Didn't like the constant chill out music, even at breakfast, although this seemed to be in line with the incongruous ibiza style beer garden!
The room was on the small side
Some grippy strips etc are needed in the wetroom-style bathroom -i nearly slipped over twice

staff went above and beyond to make sure all of us were happy and comfortable.
we took our large Newfoundland puppy who quickly showed us she does not do stairs, the hotel owner, staff and other guests did all they could to encourage her with no success, believing we were going to drive 5 hrs back home, the owner was able to accommodate us in a non dog friendly room which was on the ground floor and did not charge us any extra. we were made to feel so welcome and comfortable, we look forward to returning but our dog will need to practice on the stairs. The restaurant was also wonderful and the food was incredible. it was good to see the local residents visiting the pub/restaurant every evening.
nothing, couldn’t ask for more

Staff were great, very helpful, great location, we were there to climb Scafell, only 25 min drive to the first climbing spot.
We ate the first night and food was good, local produce.
We were climbing early and they made exception for us and cooked breakfast early for us.
The breakfast was great.
Would stay there again.
Certain areas look a bit tired but doesn't take away from the ambiance.

Room was a bit cold when we first arrived and took a long time to warm up, also wasn't warm when we woke up in the morning, more choice for breakfast
Everything else, staff were lovely, room was lovely and clean, evening meals were lovely

We stayed in the annex it was beautiful and spotless , the bed was so comfy the shower were hit and powerful , well done housekeeping 👍
The outside patio is a great size with plenty of seating and shelter , but in looking around it was dirty 🙈ashtrays over flowing floors littered with cig butts , all the cushions were soaked , tired and dirty which is sad because it’s nice furniture , it wants a good jet washing down and a good brush , other than that We enjoyed out visit , evening meal was delicious, but the breakfast came a little cold but eatable ,,,

Had dinner in the bar room with the dog and it was a lovely meal.
Room a little on the small side but adequate for an overnight stay .

We stayed as a party of 4 (2 couples), I booked an annexe, which in reality was more like a private cottage with two private bedrooms and a communal sitting area which was perfect for us to relax in, play cards etc.
A few glasses, bowls in communal area, although we were able to get what we needed from reception.
