The stay was great, bed and cleaning staff could be better

The staff was exceptional and the food was amazing. Portion sizes are huge and the presentation is amazing. Loved the clean beach area.

The cleaning staff didnt always leave clean towels for 2 clean robes for 2 and when we asked for more coffee it was ignored.

Do not stay here for your own safety. We paid for everything in advance, tipped throughout, showed nothing but kindness

IT IS NOT SAFE TO STAY HERE!!! When I went to check out I was approached by a man I had never seen before who had one of the hotel staff (Alex) translating for him. He was accusing me of “committing a felony at the spa” and telling me I had to acknowledge it and pay or the hotel would file a lawsuit. I kept asking what I was being accused of and he would only say “you already know what you did”. When I asked hotel staff what he was talking about they said they had no idea and they were very surprised. They seemed scared too. When I asked who he was, I was told “a lawyer”. I have asked for his name, credentials, and details and received nothing. This is extremely unacceptable and was very clearly an attempt at extortion. Our spa treatment was on 7/7, we checked out on 7/10. We received a couples massage. If we had committed any kind of crime, why would we not have been notified until our check out? Why would some shady nameless man be confronting us asking us to acknowledge and pay without giving any detail? Why wouldn’t the police be involved? On top of this crazy issue there was loud construction 12 hrs a day right outside our room with no offer to move, the power was constantly out including the air conditioning, cleaning staff leaves the doors open while they clean causing the room to fill with bugs, and they drained our private pool several times with no notice so we were unable to use it when we wanted.

We had the most beautiful room in the hotel with a massive wrap-around terrace on the beach — obsessed. We loved the proximity to the clubs because we could enjoy the DJ next door from our balcony. Comfy beds, beautiful decor and super friendly staff. Loved the breakfast!!!

Beautiful & Perfect location

I loved the location and how clean they maintained the facility. The staff was very helpful coordinating and providing suggestions. They even remembered my friends and I name. Breakfast was made to order, fresh and delicious. There’s a market right across the street and taxis are always readily available.

A nice hotel, but has some problems

one of the hotel managers, Alex, was fantastic, as well as Abraham and all reception, cleaning and maintenance staff. They were responsive, helpful and genuinely lovely. The location was also beautiful (albeit beach covered in seaweed). The food/drinks were also great, and the breakfasts were nice.

But I was disappointed by some things: - Patchy wifi that just didn’t work at times, even in our rooms. - Extortionate pricing for basic hotel offerings like laundry service. Even Airbnb hosts have helped me out with this at no extra cost before. It came down to $3 USD for individual items, and $10+ USD for bigger things like t-shirts. This would mean a suitcase full would be over $100 USD, for ONE LOAD of laundry! Laughable. - Adopting some US customs we didn’t encounter elsewhere on the Yucatán peninsula, such as staff actually asking for large (15%+) tips and them hiding VAT on the price list, meaning that the free breakfasts end up being paid for and drinks/food can almost double in price. - There is loud music from the club next door, but you kind of get used to it. The worst part, however, was not the fault of Dune but its location: the hotel zone is overpriced, boring and far away from everything else. The only way of getting to and from Tulúm’s main strip are £22 taxis (and that’s *each way*, totalling £44) ran by an unpleasant mafia of unfriendly and pushy drivers. The journeys to central Tulúm are about 10 minutes each way, so the taxi pricing is extortionate and leaves you feeling trapped and with a bitter taste.

Hidden gem in the heart of the party zone

Everything but on top, the staff - really amazing team and the food! We had an amazing relaxing week, the location was great and even though at the party zone, we were able to relax and recharge. Ana Lara and the team were great, would defo book the same place when back in Tulum!

Lovely small and quiet boutique hotel close to the party zone.

Clean, charming and tucked away boutique hotel, great access to the party beach clubs but no loud music at Dune. Ana was an amazing host and made sure to accommodate all of our requests.

Unfortunately, there was a lot of seaweed on the beach making it difficult to swim, the pool is always in the shade and we needed earplugs to sleep at night due to the nearby parties.

For the price, I was disappointed with what we got but location was prime.

Staff was lovely, have nothing negative to report on this front. When our toilet broke and flooded the bathroom, they were quick to resolve. I suppose I did expect to be moved to another room without question. (There were other rooms open and I had paid about 2.5x the price of what they were going for had I booked that day.) But at the end of the day, they took care of the issue immediately.

We paid for more than just the standard room (I’m forgetting what it was called but had the jump pool and partial view of ocean). Room was size of a New York City hotel room, no closet, no TV.

The Perfect Escape

I prefer the luxury of a larger resort in a smaller setting. that’s what Dune has to offer. Beautifully kept grounds with a prime location. incredible spa services, absolutely delicious food, and wonderful service.

they are remodeling the place next door so the banging could bother anyone sensitive to noise. I drowned it out and focused on the ocean sounds.

Relaxing, beautiful and quaint!

The staff were incredible, Luis and Priscilla really were friendly and accommodating and made us feel at ease the moment we arrived. Frank at the restaurant was also very friendly and eager to make sure you are relaxed and attended to. The location was perfect as you walk straight onto the beach and are still very close to the bars and restaurants on the road too.

As with the entire beach strip, everything such as food etc was incredibly expensive. Aside from that, there was not much else to say was bad about the stay.

Amazing trip, perfection! Staff are amazing and the hotel is beautiful!

The staff could not do enough to help us, right from the point of booking to the moment that we left. Rooms were cleaned daily, staff were helpful and provided knowledge of the area/recommendations etc Lorena, Luis and Edgar on reception were amazing, they made our trip enjoyable throughout. Carlos in the restaurant is an absolute credit to this hotel, his small finishing touches made the experience so memorable.

Amazing get away. Tulum has the best food ever!!

Complimentary breakfast in the morning was a nice bonus, cappuccino, fresh juices, and a few options to choose from! For lunch the chicken tacos were amazing (we are still talking about it). I also like the exclusivity of the hotel, its not a big place so you feel like you are the only ones there. It was very peaceful. The free bikes are also a great bonus!!! We rode them everywhere considering a 2 min cab ride could cost 30$. It was my boyfriends birthday and I requested some decorations and when we arrived the room was decorated beautifully he loved it !!

I have no complaints other than the bed being way too firm for me ! As well as the AC not being cold enough for me but that is just a preference. I would stay here again regardless!

would absolutely stay again. we had the best experience at Dune- the room, the food, the pool etc.

the staff was over the top helpful. Luis the on site manger was so accommodating. The included breakfast was delicious! they decorated our room for our anniversary which was so cute. I felt safe and the property was so clean.

it was a good location close to several good restaurants and bars

the staff was amazing and went above and beyond to accommodate you. The food was also very good and breakfast was included each day which was nice.

only complaint is that our shower in the sunrise suite did not get hot. we were told to leave it running for 5 min and we tried for 10 minutes and still was barley warm. otherwise this would be a 10 star rating
