Another wonderful stay at the Mill’s cottage. Very convenient and quaint.

Pictures don't do it justice, view is amazing. Morning coffee watching the lobster fishermen get around is all the entertainment we needed.

We had a lovely time here. The house was very comfortable and the neighborhood was enjoyable. Small store, well stocked convenience store just a block away. I am just sad that the bakery was already closed for the season when we were there.

This was our second time staying here. We love the view from backyard of the harbor. Owner is very helpful, if you need directions.
If you want a place away , without commercial busyness, this is it!

This was perfect for our honeymoon. It is Very quiet and quaint. The location is great for exploring the area. The property manager was great. We would luv to go back. We really enjoyed the view and our coffee on the deck, in the mornings. We would definitely recommend this cottage.

The cottage was comfortable and in a beautiful location, overlooking a harbor. We’d like to have had cable tv for national news. It’s a long drive to most museums, towns and interesting sites, but the drive is along beautiful roads, which we enjoyed.

My husband and I spent a week in South Bristol and thoroughly enjoyed it. The bed was comfortable. And the sofa was a great seating area. I really enjoyed sitting in the rocking chair looking at the water as it rained several days and we were not able to use the deck as much as I would have like. Walking is fine along the road but you must be on the look out for cars going by. We walked to Osier's several times to eat. Many sites to visit in the area. Excellent experience.

Lovely cottage in beautiful location
This is the perfect cottage for 2-4 people. It’s lovely to have a view from the bedrooms and wake up to see the sun glistening on the water. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, dishes and glassware if you like to cook and eat in.

Good times
Very well equipped. There were a lot of things we brought that we didn't need, as other years we needed sheets, blankets, etc. Heat worked well. Only problem was raccoons getting into garbage every night. We need a bungie cord to secure lid on can. Thank you for a happy week. Any chance for next June?

Fantastic communication with owner
Enjoyed our stay. Beautiful location on the harbor. Cottage has everything you need. Good location for day trips. Our first day the television would not work. We contacted the owners. They immediately arranged to purchase a new one which we picked up. Have never experienced such quick response to an issue. Truly amazing. Would come back again.

A Breath of Old Time Maine
A working harbor of lobster boats, skiffs, & pleasure craft viewed over a riot of color- hydrangea, snowballs, pinks & purples & Black- eyed Susans leaning back in Adirondack chairs. Coffee on deck, in morning mist, hum of early traffic & drawbridge lifting for boats to pass. Small cottage tucked between two classic ME homes but private with trees, rocks, plantings. Lush green backyard delightful for reading, (good collection of books!) sketching, playing my banjo. Great hot shower, cool nights with comfy bed & crisp linens. Busy hummingbirds & a bold red squirrel kept us smiling. Easy location for daily trips to explore the area & sample food & views! Ice Pond Museum & pond a favorite.

Relaxing getaway
The cottage is in a great location overlooking a fishing harbor and a drawbridge with the caution light at the foot of the driveway. The cottage is quaint with an old time feel having a cute little deck with adirondack chairs and a lobster cage table. In the morning you can hear the boats leaving for the day from the bedroom window. We enjoyed getting lunch at Oisers Market and chatting with the fisherman. We had a great lobster dinner at the Fisherman's Co-Op with the freshest steamers ever! The cottage was convenient for us to take rides to the Botanical Gardens, Camden, Pemaquid Lighthouse, New Harbor and Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse. We recommend the cottage for a quaint rustic feel getaway.

Great property
Great communication to setup the rental, fast and easy when arriving.

Lovely spot, upgrades needed asap.
We absolutely loved the location of the Mills Cottage on Rutherford Island just past the drawbridge with views of the Marina from the deck. That was stellar.
We found the accommodations to be less so. The beds were not at all comfortable and there is not an inviting or comfortable chair to be found inside or outside the cottage.
The Adirondack chairs on the deck are very old, very low to the ground and very splintered, making it difficult to enjoy this marvelous spot. We took a trip to Dick's and bought ourselves a couple of patio chairs to take advantage of the spot without risk of injury.
The bed was not at all comfortable or 'giving' in any way and the couch sank to such a degree when one sat in it that the arm rests were at shoulder height and it took the cooperation of a willing partner to arise from a seated position.
All of this and more was shared with the owners who acknowledged that they are "working on it".
In spite of the accommodations, we enjoyed out time in South Bristol and nearby areas and do intend to return although not to the Mills Cottage.

Beautiful location
During our week stay, we enjoyed the deck view. The location and town were wonderful. Osiers and the Co-op met our lobster cravings! Communication was great with owners, lots of information about the Area. The cottage is as described. Our small children loved the walk to the drawbridge. Biggest drawback was the seating outside and inside the cottage weren't comfortable for us to wind down at the end of a long day of exploring and dining table wasn't family of 4 (2 small guys), friendly.

Lovely cottage!
My husband and I have rented 6 different homes in Midcoast Maine, and we're in agreement that this is our favorite! The house is a quick walk to Osier's Seafood and the South Bristol Fishermen's Co-op. There's a great selection of well-marked town maintained trails, great for dog walking or short hikes, a short drive away. It was well stocked with kitchen essentials for vacation cooking and pamphlets for local businesses and trails. We would definitely recommend it for the single person, couple or small family who is looking to experience quiet, fishing village/Midcoast Maine, but still needs reliable internet access.

Delightful and Relaxing
We loved our stay in this delightful cottage with a backyard on the “Gut” of Johns Bay, across the street from the Damariscotta River. Morning coffee watching the sun rise in the backyard and evening strolls across the street to see the sunset. The town is quiet and has a few great places to get the freshest seafood! The house was very clean and comfortable, with many homey touches. The kitchen is fully stocked with kitchenware if you want to cook the fresh seafood from the local fisherman’s Co-Op. Damariscotta is only 20 minutes away for activities such as a river cruise that offers the best and freshest oysters right on the boat. We also hopped on the Hardy Boat In New Harbor to Monhegan Island for a day. Overall, a wonderful stay that gave us both relaxation and exploration. I would stay here again, and was sad to leave.

Wonderful Maine Escape
This was a beautiful house to stay at. The backyard is wonderful to relax in, especially in the morning when the morning sunshine hits the water in the harbor. It was a great place to escape too. I love the small-town feeling of it all. Kind of like staying in a cabin.

South Bristol Charm
We really enjoyed our stay in South Bristol. The cottage was the perfect size for us and our dog. The deck on the back of the house was a great place to sit, relax, and look out at the water, boats, and the beautiful flower gardens. The driveway was a bit tricky since it’s hard to see when backing out into the street. One of us needed to be a guide out onto the road. We were able to cross the street and walk the dog along the water. The cottage had everything we needed. It was convenient to surrounding towns and restaurants. It felt very private and cozy.

Beautiful Harbor
The location in Mid coast Maine was excellent. The proximity to a lobster/grocery/grill (Osiers) was fantastic! Our favorite activity was enjoying the lobster boats going & coming in from the deck or back gardens. Just beautiful!

Bucolic village right up our alley
Enjoyed walking back from the general store with tasty steamers and lobsters for on-deck dining. Appreciated the view of the cove with lobstermen coming and going. Loved the peaceful ambiance of a Down East village.. Only negative is cell phone service was spotty at best.

Charming harborside cottage
The cottage was charming and the view of “the gut” and the working harbor was wonderful. I loved having to cross the drawbridge to get home. Christina’s flower gardens added another special touch. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here on Rutherford Island! Recommend the clam chowder at Coveside and the Pemaquid Seafood restaurant just 10 min away. Thanks for a great time in a special place!

Great Summer Vacation!
The Mill's Cottage was perfect for our family of 4. It was clean and had everything we needed. We made at least 2 meals a day at the cottage and it had pretty much everything we needed to do so. We enjoyed relaxing on the deck and watching the activity in the Harbor. It was easy and convenient to use the boat ramp next to the South Bristol fisherman's Co op to put our kayaks in and explore the area from the water. We did a fun little paddle out to Witch Island for a hike. We really enjoyed some great meals and live music at The Coveside Bar and Restaurant only about a mile down the road. Our best day was probably our trip out to Monhegan Island, the boat ride there and back was fun and relaxing, we saw all kinds of wildlife that the boat captain pointed out and educated us on, and the hiking on the Island was amazing. We love the fact that the cottage was in a very quiet area yet there was plenty to see and do.

Quiet, relaxing stay
This was perfect for our family of three. Quiet location, but close enough to eateries and shops. Would definitely stay again.

A simple cottage overlooking the harbor
The courage was a quiet get away that lets you relax and enjoy perfect weather. Almost everything you need for your stay (bring your own food). Make sure you tale time to enjoy the view of the harbor in the yard chairs and bring plenty of reading for the cool breezy back deck.
The shed holds activities for land and water.
Be sure to visit King Eider's Pub in Damariscotta - the seafood pot pie is out of this world.
To top it off, the Mills are super responsive to any request. You will enjoy your stay at Mills cottage.

Great hosts!
The Mills were the nicest of hosts and helpful with regard to information in the area. We would stay there again (Two adults, two kids). The house is a small cottage with the back having a view of the water below. Nice, quiet getaway.

Mills cottage
Spent a wonderful week at Lad and Christine's cottage. It is a cozy 2 bedroom with nice views of the tranquil waters of The Gut, a secluded inlet of John's Bay. I appreciate that linens and towels are provided (not all places do), and the kitchen was well stocked (we eat about half our meals, in). Lobsters were $6.99 / lb at Fisherman's co-op and Osiers. Not a whole lot around in otherwise in South Bristol except for Harborside Grocery & Grille which we missed. The Mills had a well stocked video library, although the TV is quite small. A couple nights we pulled a couple chairs up and wired in my bluetooth speaker. But let's face it, we didn't drive all the way from Michigan to Maine to watch TV.
We have been to the mid-coast region in the past staying at Boothbay Harbor and Bailey Island and thought we would try South Bristol. It is rather remote by comparison, but since we were on a road trip, not that big a deal. This trip, we finally got to see Fort William Henry at Pemaquid Point (amazing views from the top!), dip our toes at Christmas Cove beach, see The Giant's Stairs on Bailey Island and tour the historic homes and Maritime Museum in Bath - that's the wonderful thing about mid-coast, so much to see and do within a short drive.
When at Colonial Pemaquid, try The Contented Sole (they also had a band). Another great nearby hidden gem of a restaurant we stumbled on was Coveside (it looked like mostly locals, not tourists - always a good sign). A little further out we visited the Maine State Aquarium and the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. We took the Puffin boat cruise to Egg Island out from Boothbay (absolute best lobster roll at Karen's Hideaway / Mainiacs), we spent a day in Damariscotta (try lunch at the Damariscotta River Grille), we attended a play at Maine State Music Theater, Bowdoin College (try Richards in Brunswick for some great German food). On the drive home we had the best fried clams at the Lobster Shack at Two Lights, Cape Elizabeth (south of Portland).
Maine has become our new go-to road trip destination. Great weather, people, scenery, and ahhhh...... the seafood. Although we chose to make this a non-stop whirlwind of a trip, the Mills cottage would also make for a great quiet escape.

A Perfect Maine Village Getaway
This is such a cute, cozy cottage for a week spent in the small towns and tiny villages of Maine! The harbor is right there, but the cottage is so tucked away and private that it is very quiet. We enjoyed the well-furnished rooms with the added touch of historic photos and books about the local area. South Bristol and Round Pond are tiny, interesting towns. We had day trips to the Pemaquid Historic Site, Rockland for the Farnsworth Art Museum and great shops, lobster in Spruce Head and Round Pond, The Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay, and Damariscotta and Wiscasset for antiques, food, books, and general charm.
The kitchen is stocked with anything you might need, and there is a washer and dryer too, which is so handy when you're traveling. The bed was so comfy, we slept perfectly with no intruding thoughts of business back home!
