About this house rental
This private home was featured as R.I. dream vacation home in 2010. Bright open spacious contemporary barn style home w/an artist's eclectic influence. House includes a large L shape wrap around screened porch, great for entertaining, and relaxation, and in evening (when all is quiet) one can hear the ocean and feel the southwest breeze. The porch leads out to an outdoor Zen shower. House has two bedrooms and two full bathrooms and one half bath. Much of the living area is open space.The kitchen is gallery style w/ stainless steel appliances, light wood cabinets, butcher- block counters, some open shelving and pine floors.The half bath and laundry room are off the kitchen.There is a one bedroom w/a full bath on the first floor.The fireplace is the artist's design a unique mixture of cooper and zinc w/stone & medals. The white bleached moose antlers placed over the fire place ( definitely add a bit of character and completing the look of this fireplace (they are on a dropped copper mount used as a conversation attraction were shed naturally and repurposed as an eco friendly form of art.)The lighting fixtures are signed hand blown glass on salvage industrial medal throughout the house. The owners have filled the walls w/local eclectic original art.The home is staged w/a mixture of art, vintage antiques, and collective decor.
Stairs to second floor have cable-steel railings, which give a nautical feel. there are two stairways , one leads you to an large open loft area used as a combined family room, office, exercise room, it also serves as the artist studio. The master bedroom w/ it's own master bathroom is located on a separate stair way w/ a small catwalk & seating area entrance. The master bath has a separate walk in shower w/ pebble beach/stone floor, the vanity has 2 vessel sinks. The soaking jet tub is built in and surrounded by travertine which adds an organic touch under a large skylight. The property and location exceeded our expectations and were perfect for a visit to Little Compton with our college-age daughter. Abby was incredibly helpful with recommendations for restaurants and things to do. The kitchen comes fully equipped for cooking and the house has everything you need for a beach trip. The house is beautifully decorated, full of lovely art and thoughtfully arranged. We loved the screened-in porch for meals. We look forward to staying in this peaceful retreat again!

Great stay! All the best of South Coast RI/MA living! Picturesque pastoral site close to incredible farm stands, lobster pound, beaches and Four Corners for shopping and snacks. House is very well-equipped, has beautiful light, and reflects the heart and soul of the artist-painter. 10/10!

If you have a discerning eye and prefer high quality finishes in the home you rent on vacation then this is the place to rent! If you love and appreciate landscape design, want a peaceful and quiet retreat, this is the house! If you are looking to be close to the beach but not on one, then stay here! And if you really love art and art history, great books to peruse, stay at the Art Barn! And, if you want to walk around naked after using the outdoor shower, this is the place! PRIVATE!! We loved staying at this beautiful home and will return! Thank you Abby and Len!

This was a last-minute getaway so we were pleased to find such a great place available. Lots of space - and lots of art and cozy spots to sit! Especially loved the screen porch.

The home is every bit as charming as advertised, and there is no square inch without evidence of the owner's artistic temperament. It is about a half mile from South Beach/Goose Wing Preserve, which we took advantage of every day. The beach is uncrowded and very beautiful. We had not been to Little Compton/Tiverton for several years, and we found plenty to do. Our host, Abby, was very attentive, and when one minor internet issue arose, she and her husband Len jumped on it. We look forward to returning.

We had a wonderful stay at Abby and Len's Art Barn. The house was absolute perfection. Plenty of cozy nooks for us to each have a good dose of peace and quiet. The backyard with the wildflowers and the bunnies was also a favorite spot to sit and read. The property is on a very quiet private road, and we enjoyed being away from all the sounds of traffic etc. We would stay here again in a heartbeat - and we most deffinitely did not want to leave. Thank you Abby and Len!

Beautifully designed and built by the owners, this “barn” was delightful to have as our temporary home. Filled with artwork and books on art, it made for a wonderfully relaxing place. We ate most of our meals on the spacious screened-in porch. It was a serene setting and close to a beach and farmers’ market. Abby was a gracious and helpful host, certainly deserving of 5 star status.

This is a beautiful home with every creature comfort. The paintings are masterful, the reading selection eclectic and interesting, and the gardens as creatively designed as the house itself. Owners were very accommodating...even buying new yard games after our inquiry of available outdoor activities.

Little Compton Bliss
My husband and I had wonderful stay at this lovely property. The home and grounds are really special and so peaceful. My favorite thing was deciding which lovely space to sit and have a conversation, read a book, etc. I loved the screened in porch, the back patio, the front porch - and all the inside spaces. And if you like to cook, the kitchen Is very well-stocked. Bonus: outdoor shower was phenomenal. Truly loved this spot and hope to return again in another season! Thank you Abby & Len!

Ultimate in relaxation
Abby and Len have a beautiful, unique home with an abundance of stunning and varied pieces of art, including many of Abby's own paintings. As they say in the listing, it is not a beach house per se, but it is a very short drive or ride to several public and semi-private beaches (i.e., ones you can reach only by bike or on foot).
The owners supply all you need for preparing and serving meals in the house, and multiple options for indoor, outdoor, and hybrid -- screened-in porch -- dining. Not to mention all sorts of places to sit and relax.

Our four days in this house could not have been more perfect. The hosts were friendly and accommodating. Abby and Len really made us feel welcome in their much loved home! We found new treasures every time we looked and this house did wonders for the three of us!!

Beyond Your Imagination
The Artful Barn was way beyond anything that we could have imagined. The house itself, is located in a serene area with many peacefull fields, fruit stands, a lovely beach, and the unspoiled village of Little Compton, was an artistic masterpiece that was furnished by colorful paintings by the owner and other artists. The first floor featured white furniture from Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware that was immaculate. The first floor bedroom was very charming and had its own bathroom. The second floor had a beautiful master suite and a luxurious spa. The kitchen had a sub-zero fridge and all of the cooking equipment that you would need to create goumet meals. The taste and care of the owner is fully reflected in the collection of earthware-colored tableware and unusual lighting. The grounds were filled with beautiful and exotic plants and flowers, topped off with an outdoor shower that is covered by red and orange hibiscus flowers.
The house itself is five minutes from a wonderful beach for small children and several farm stands, along with a general store that sells the best take-out food in the area. There is no traffic in this village, only the same peace and quiet that is projected by the artful barn.

Amazing home in the perfect location!
We had an amazing week with our family in the Artful Barn. Abby was a wonderful host full of great recommendations (we discovered LC Surf Camp and Sakonnet Vineyards thanks to her!). Her home is absolutely beautiful, in an idyllic country setting, and is perfectly located directly in-between the Commons and the beach. The backyard is elegant and is situated so nicely for sunsets and the outdoor shower after the beach is the perfect way to end the day. If you want to experience the tranquility of Little Compton in a first-class setting, this is your house.

Second times the charm!
This was our second consecutive year staying at 'The Artful Barn'. Once again, we had a wonderful stay in this magical house. The house has everything you could possibly ask for and then some. The location is perfect! It sits on the end of a very quiet cul de sac and is a short drive to the beach and town. I also recommend a trip over to Westport, MA if you have the time.

This house was perfect for a relaxing sea side getaway.
The house was beautiful inside and out. It really could be in a magazine. No detail was left undone. It was super clean and well kept. Guests that came to visit us could not believe the wonderful artwork and beautiful grounds. We were impressed with the secluded back yard and screened in porch. A lot of the furniture was from pottery barn and super comfortable. Even though we were fairly close to home, it really did feel like we were away on vacation. The house was well stocked with everything you would need to feel comfortable and at home. We would highly recommend renting this home.

Beautiful and relaxing stay
The house was spacious and clean and looked exactly as pictured on the listing. Abby was a wonderful host as she was great with communication. The house is filled with art, flowers, and ample dining and lounging areas. We loved the screened in porch and enjoyed exploring the cute town of Little Compton. The house is so close to organic farm stands and the beach. I wish we could of stayed longer and I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone who is interested in a getaway beach vacation.

An amazing space!
We rented the property on short notice and couldn't believe our good fortune when we arrived. The house was meticulously clean and the art work EVERYWHERE was just incredible. You can easily spend hours just wandering around the home itself to examine the interesting works of art. The floor plan for the house is also very welcoming and has a terrific flow to it. The outdoor seating area, and shower, are both wonderful. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. We hope to have a chance to return in the near future!
