Great food and super friendly, helpful staff
No shower in my room but there was a lovely bath

This is a gem of a place, fantastic rooms, beautiful period property, stunning views of countryside, staff are amazing, so helpful, polite and professional but friendly and accommodating. Food in the restaurant is fabulous, you could tell products were excellently sourced, local fresh ingredients, our meals were delicious (I'm a very fussy eater and I ate it all), had been cooked from scratch, top quality home made food was so welcoming when you go to so many places now where it's all processed/ready made microwave meals. We're not often in Petersfield as we live in London but we would definitely return here at the earliest opportunity, highly recommended!
Nothing - the only thing we would say, although it didn't affect us and so definitely not a criticism from our point of view but may be better to have use of a car when staying here

Well placed for a stop on our journey from Gloucestershire to East Sussex. Very friendly atmosphere and a good welcome. Excellent chef . His beer battered haddock was perfection!

The welcome was good room was lovely also very clean food was good for meal in the pub
They decided to have a live band in the bar which didn’t finish until nearly 12 pm and put room was directly above noise was awful we had been up since 5 am and had to get up very early next day also didn’t get hardly any sleep breakfast was a good continental however a cooked breakfast would have been nicer

The Trooper Inn was easy to find. Lots of free car parking. Helpful staff who quickly checked us in and explained how to use the key card to access our room and front door. Very comfortable bed and lots of hot water. Continental breakfast was available, but we had an early morning departure. Speedy check-out.
It would be useful to have had a longer electrical lead to plug in the kettle and a detachable shower attachment or a jug for washing/rinsing hair.

Would have have liked the option of having a cooked breakfast.

We cycled to the Tropper inn and had a fantastic and extremely accomodating stay.

We had a large room with a huge comfortable bed. Very clean and the bed linen was lovely.
Breakfast was very DIY and disappointing with poor quality supermarket bread and no fresh items that you would expect for a continental breakfast. No staff on duty.

Room was clean and comfortable.
The breakfast was pathetic- Cereal, toast, coffee, tea, apples and packet croissant and little else. (supposedly continental)
It would have been better to have been told of this, so we could have arranged breakfast elsewhere.
Because of this we will not be returning.
Also, I have never seen such a small kettle - travel for one, and miniature tea mugs. We were in a king size room for two.

Breakfast was very convenient location. Staff were very friendly. There was a limited choice of croissants and toast which were delicious but no other option.
A choice of eggs possibly.

The size of the room's are great and they are very welcoming and make you feel relaxed about bringing your dog with you, even into the pub for food, which is excellent.
The shower was difficult to regulate the temperature this time not had that before

beautiful location and some nice old features
cobwebs everywhere. In the pub as we sat down for dinner the whole window inside was covered with them that didn’t happen overnight.
There are no comfy chairs anywhere and the bed was full of burst springs.

Nice country pub

The location, the room was basic but comfortable, plenty of parking space.
The complimentary 'continental breakfast'
would have preferred a cooked breakfast as there was little to choose from.

Excellent breakfast. Good range of drinks and food in the bar. Staff very friendly & helpful. Nice quiet location in the countryside but close to main towns etc. Good parking. Comfy beds. Hot water. Great shower.
Shower was great but difficult to balance the very hot water with the cold. Couple of other guests were late in and were making noise but difficult for staff to control that!!
