We enjoyed our stay at the Oaxaca house, it was a great place to sray and the family enjoyed the house. The breakfast was good each morning and we had a lot of fun. Thank for the hospitality!

I’ll start off by stating that I normally do not write reviews even though the majority of rental homes have been very nice. I have rented homes in Italy, France, UK, and Spain. And at home in the US.
Rented home 6/23- 6/28/24
However, without a doubt, this home in Oaxaca has been our favorite. The house was beautiful, the location was private, and the best was meeting the housekeeper/chef, Socorro, and the homeowner, Ming.
We loved that Socorro lived in the home while we were there. She was up early in the morning cooking us delicious breakfast, and she cleaned the home everyday while we out doing tourist stuff.
Homeowner was a great communicator as well. Water pressure and temp were great.
We hope to go back soon.

We were a group of 11 that stayed for 8 days. The house was comfortable with plenty of seating areas, heated pool, most bedrooms had their own bathroom, daily breakfast and room cleaning included. The town is about 15 minutes out of the center of town and it’ll cost between $6-$9 each way to get to the center. The town is charming with small grocery stores, coffee shop, and a great pizza place called Mama Mia. Bring ear plugs, there's a lot of dogs and they bark all night. Overall the stay was ok, probably wouldn’t be back mainly because of distance to city center. Getting taxis was not easy, we ended up getting phone numbers for a few to personally call. DiDi wasn’t reliable. You could walk a couple of blocks to the church where taxis are more likely to stop. The owner took care of a few mishaps with leaks and water issues, although it took 2 days to get a shower head replaced so our friends showered as if out of a water hose. One room in the upstairs doesn’t have its own bathroom and you must walk past the living room to get to the bathroom. Some of the beds were uncomfortable, you could feel the springs. The bathrooms are really tight, no more than one person at a time and you can be on the toilet and wash your hands at the same time. Something that isn’t in the rental description is that the person that cooks and cleans stays at the property. The owner showed up everyday as well so it didn’t feel like we had privacy.

Ming was there to welcome us, and introduce her housekeeper Socorro who proved to be a very delightful, accommodating person. Fortunately, our group spoke enough Spanish collectively to get along with Socorro. The breakfasts and a couple of dinners were very well prepared. Overall, we were satisfied with the Holiday House. The location in San Felipe de Agua was further away from the downtown area than we anticipated. It took 20-30 minutes to travel to Zocalo, and taxis cost more like 100 pesos for 4 people rather than the 40 pesos mentioned on the website. It is right on two bus routes. The house could use some TLC – drawers that were hard to pull out, a small bathroom with slippery tiled shower, a slanted pool table with pockets ripped out, etc. Also, we didn’t see any travel books or literature to suggest venues or restaurants, and no recommendations from Ming. Additionally, the quiet was regularly interrupted by barking dogs, especially in the evenings. Some basic amenities (hair dryer, shampoo) were not provided until we asked. Overall, it was a nice stay.

This stay was amazing form start to finish. We are very grateful to Ming Quing and our lovely live-in housekeeper, Socorro, for being so helpful during our stay. We appreciated their recommendations, accommodations, and suggestions regarding activities in the area, ways to get around, and ensuring that we got all we wanted out of our experience in Oaxaca. They both expertly attuned to each persons wants (we were a big, fun group) and explained everything thoroughly. We highly recommend staying here and would definitely stay here again!
Below are some quotes from other friends who stayed in the villa:
"Socorro was definitely my highlight and how she was so accommodating to our requests and a great conversationalist."
"The villa definitely made this trip so much more fun and relaxing. The hand made breakfast and juices were a great way to start our day."
"Did not expect to see the owner as much as we did, I'm used to not seeing them unless we need something."
"Socorro was extremely helpful and a great caretaker."

Very welcoming place close to downtown Oaxaca. Host was superb. Full breakfast was provided and there is a full-time live-in housekeeper. House was big and comfortable. Getting to Oaxaca center was very easy. Close to Benito Juarez National Park, which has a good hiking trail. Overall, a highly recommended place.
4.7
Great spot outside the central part of the city. Plenty to do in the area, but only a quick cab ride into town. Really enjoyed the deck and pool. Housekeepers made incredible breakfasts for us every morning and were super sweet about helping us secure cabs or answer questions we had. We were very, very happy with this house.
4.7
This property is a little bit outside of Oaxaca city but an easy $100-150 peso taxi into town. For our group, we mainly spent nights and evenings at the house and were out and about during the day so it was no problem.
The rooms are plenty and spacious with each room have its own bathroom. Multiple people were able to shower at the same time without running out of hot water. The living area is equally comfortable with the bonus of the patios and pool area.
Most delightful, though, was Maria - the live-in housekeeper and wonderful cook. Each day Ming would coordinate with the two of us on what the following day’s breakfast should be. We started all our days on the right foot thanks to healthy and bountiful breakfast that kept tummies full. And on some days when we left the house particularly early for a tour, Maria was kind enough to pack us a to-go breakfast.
Lastly, Ming was a kind and gracious host. She stopped by the house a few times to say hello and was very communicative in the lead up to our arrival. She also connected me with a great local tour guide who took us to Monte Alban and Teotitlan. Given we were a large group, his van meant that we could travel together without needing to hail multiple taxis.
Can’t recommend this house enough! We were a group of friends this time but when we come back to Oaxaca with our partners we will likely book Ming’s house again. Thank you for a lovely stay!
4.7
Ming’s home is a great place for a group of friends or large family. The many bedrooms and baths means there’s room for everyone to enjoy privacy and communal meals and outdoor spaces. Mare, the housekeeper, prepared delicious breakfasts and assisted with taxis etc. Ming treated us to a complimentary lunch at her Chinese restaurant near Santo Domingo. We had a blast!
4.7
Since we chose the property I contacted Ming with some requests and she always responded right away. I am a professional in the hospitality industry/vacation rentals/property management with more than 10 years of experience and I can tell you Ming and Lucero have the sense of urgency and hospitality to create the best experience for your family or group. They prepare a delicious breakfast with juice, fruit and delicious mexican dishes every morning. Having Lucero onsite helps a lot too because she does the cleaning in all the house so when your group is back... the bed is made for you... isn´t it amazing!! I highly recommend this property if you are looking for a great experience and local advise. Thank you Ming and Lucero for making our stay so enjoyable!! Happy new year
4.7
For our family of ten, ages 14-82, staying for 8 days, the generous and loving host(Ming) and her support staff (Lucero and Fabio) this place is the place! It is inviting, comfortable, spacious, and aesthetically pleasing. Bus and taxi get you places quickly. Connecting us with Eduardo, a tour ‘friend’-guide for travel to the ‘must see’ places and RT airport runs, I think you can safely say both hosting and her home will always be a great gift to our family. Muchas gracias para todo!!!
4.7
I want to thank Ming, she was wonderful very helpful at every need, the place was clean. Lucero was amazing with her breakfast and juices, if you ever stay here you have to go to house of dumpling you won't regret it. Once again thank you for having us we will stay at your place again.
4.7
The house is lovely, spacious, 15 min taxi ride to Centro 100 pesos $5, 20min bus ride to Centro 8 pesos 40C (bus stop top to the street ~ 30 yards and it's in a neighborhood north of Centro. Lucero was the best at cooking an amazing breakfast and keeping the house clean. Nice upper deck to hang out or down by the pool. Lucero was able to do laundry for us. Ming the owner was fantastic and owns the best Chinese food place in Centro and a jewelry store. Great food and dumplings. Many tours can pick you up at the house and some can pick you up two blocks south at a local hotel. I preferred a place in the burbs. 30 to 35 min drive from the airport depending on traffic. Had the best time and loved every minute.

Great space & well taken care of
This property has great living spaces: the pool area down stairs, a living room/tv area upstairs, a large balcony upstairs and the kitchen area. Unlike some rentals, It did not feel like the space had been 100% maxed out: it was still spacious and relaxing environment. There are lots of en-suite bedrooms which was very nice too. Showers had hot water, although adjusting temp was a bit tricky.
No review of this house would be complete without mentioning the live in maid, Mary. She made us a different, delicious breakfast eat day, carefully and patiently taking into account myriad dietary request. She did our laundry (mex100 per load), which was great for the mid-point of our trip as we halved the clothes we brought. Mary welcomed us when we arrived, called us taxis, and was generally super helpful. When we left 2 pairs of shoes behind on check out, Mary even caught up with us downtown to make sure we got them. She really made this stay!
The location is not central, and you will have to take a taxi to get anywhere other than the couple of local restaurants and convenience stores. Not a big deal as a taxi ~mex100, and the maid kindly called them for us.

Todo muy bien , el desayuno muy rico y Mary una excelente anfitriona.

The property was immaculate and very large. The housekeeper lives on property; she is an amazing person who gave us complete privacy. She also cooks breakfast every morning and the variety was authentic and amazing. Notability, she went above and beyond for our family on her own initiative.
The owner of the property is amazing as well. She ensured that all of our needs were met throughout the stay - even with a late night arrival, she was there to settle us in.
I will definitely stay here again and it is my best VRBO experience I have ever had.

Our Oaxaca visit
We were a group of six women looking for a comfortable space for our visit. This house met our needs. We each had a private bedroom, but two of the ladies had to share a bath. There are plenty of areas to relax indoors and outside. The weather was too cool for us to use the pool in January. Mary, the housekeeper, kept the house immaculate and cooked a wonderful breakfast every morning. If you prefer the atmosphere of a small village versus the hustle and bustle of downtown Oaxaca. This is the place to be!

Great stay for our trip to Oaxaca
This was a great experience for me and my family. It is a comfortable house located really close to the city's downtown. The breakfast and cleaning service are absoluteñy convenient and the food was delicious. The owner is always available and helpful. I fully recomend this place to stay and we'll probably go back there.

The place was quiet for Mexico and once you find it easy to get to with a taxi for about 80 pesos from the Centro. The hot water volume was not very great but it was hot. Teresa did a good job getting breakfast for 10 people and was very helpful with other arrangements.

Tere!!! Gracias

The house was fantastic and Teresa was wonderful
My family had a wonderful experience. Mind checked in frequently as was available for any questions. Teresa made wonderful breakfast everyday. The house had plenty of room, was clean and perfect for a lease group. I wild definitely recommend it and wild come back to stay again.

Great comfy home
We had a wonderful experience, the owner Ming and both Teresa's that help with cleaning and cooking were extremely welcoming, attentive and great. Breakfast was great. We brought a 3 year old and an 8 month old. The pack and play could be replaced. The service was great, we felt safe. We had a wonderful time. The kids loved the pool and our whole family enjoyed their time, everyone felt comfortable. We will return.

Above & Beyond in Oaxaca
Our hostess, Ms. Young went way beyond what was necessary!! She gave us a ride to and from the airport, checked on us every day, and made an outstanding meal for us at her Chinese Restaurant, Dumpling House/Ni Hao in El Centro. The house is very comfortable and the muchacha, Teresa is a great cook. She even washed our clothes for us before we left. The house is about 20-30 minutes from El Centro in a lovely residential neighborhood. Taxi's only about $3.50USD, so no problem getting to and from.
We had a great stay and would highly recommend this property!

It was great
Our stay was very enjoyable. We thought the property had AC but only fans. It was cool at night with the windows open. Teresa was great in everyway.

The perfect weekend getaway that ended too soon!
What a treat! We stayed at this amazing home, in a quiet and very safe neighborhood for 2 nights as a group of 5 adults and 6 children. The house was absolutely perfect for our traveling party! The multiple rooms with private bathrooms were all moderately sized, very clean with comfortable beds and bedding. There were also MULTIPLE seating areas inside and outside, top floor and also around the pool area that were extremely comfortable. The owner was very responsive and super helpful with accommodating our check in and check out time. And the food prepared for breakfast by the in-home housekeeper was PHENOMENAL!! I asked for her salsa recipe the first morning because it was so yummy, and the second day she made us a double batch! This was truly an amazing find for us and we cannot wait to go back and visit!

Peaceful and tranquil house with amazing hospitality
We just left this house yesterday (March 5th 2018) after staying there 10 days. I am from Ohio and I came down to Oaxaca with my wife and two kids (ages two and a half and 7 months) to escape the cold and the flu which tends to go around in Ohio the last couple weeks of February. Two of my college friends who also work from home like I do joined us for the trip. We rented two cars and traveled around Oaxaca on the weekends and worked online during the week. My wife hung out at the pool with the kids during the week and also took them to Louis Donald park which is walkable from the house (but better to drive to than walk) and has a ton of playground equipment and kids activities plus a library and basketball and volleyball.
Luis Donaldo Park
1o. de Mayo, Agencia Municipal de San Felipe del Agua
We also found this great gym which is close to walkable (better to drive but my friends preferred to walk) and offers daily or weekly memberships, so we could work out before work each morning
Blvd. la Salle 113, Ejido Guadalupe Victoria
This house has the feel of a hostel in its design, there are 6 separate bedrooms which can each be locked with a key and each bedroom has it's own private bathroom. There are a bunch of different distinct spaces in the house, the back porch overlooking the hills, the pool area, the living room area, the courtyard dining area, and the bedrooms. Several of the bedrooms also have desks in them. The kitchen is small but we literally never used it (see why below)
There are a couple main things I liked about this place:
1) It is just far enough away from downtown Oaxaca to be tranquil but close enough that you can easily get to the Centro any time you want. Having a car makes that supremely easy. Taxis are also an option just not my personal preference.
2) It has a pool which you can jump into to cool off when it's hot
3) It's over 3,000 sq ft so it is absolutely spacious and feels relaxing compared to the tight quarters in the city.
4) We did not know about this when we booked this place months ago but the housekeeper Teresa is there 24/7 and was literally taking care of our every need at all times. I felt like we were Mexican royalty. Turns out the owner of this house also owns a restaurant and the housekeeper is a cook and was happy to make multiple meals a day (we paid separately for the extra cooking). The food was awesome.
5) Good internet speed
4.7
Poorly maintained and poorly run
There are some wonderful places to stay in Oaxaca. This is not one of them. But, first, what we did appreciate. Its big and it had a small pool. We were a group of nine and needed 6 bedrooms and this house had them. There were 5 kids in our group and we wanted a pool and this had one. It met those needs well. It is also convenient for going downtown to the Centro.
Nothing else, however, was up to the price we paid. We arrived 1-1/2 hrs early and even though we had asked the owner if this was ok, the house was filthy when we got there so we left and came back at the listed check in time. The house was in much better shape but still not ready. A few times we had to request that the water be turned on and then that the hot water be turned on. We asked before coming if there was laundry (yes) but were only allowed to do three loads of wash (we had a lot of kids) and our housekeeper had to call the owner each time. We were provided breakfast but this does not include regular milk for the coffee or tea. There was condensed and powdered milk available but one day the condensed milk smelled off. We would generally leave the house by 6:30am and come back mid-day, and although there was plenty of time to make beds and clean bathrooms, this was not done when we got back. We had to ask the woman living there to turn off the TV at night (which is right next to two bedrooms where our kids were sleeping) when we were putting the kids to bed and, on our last night, she had a friend over after we got home around 9p.
And, finally, and most importantly for us, the house is not what you see in the pictures. The place felt grimy and run down. The kitchen was filthy and uninviting and it would be hard to cook in there ourselves. And in some cases the pictures literally do not match the way it looks now. There is no greenery around the pool, the view is not unobstructed, the picture of the kitchen is different than what it looks like now. The breakfast was mediocre and we eventually told the housekeeper we no longer wanted it (beans would sit out on the stove overnight and then served the next couple days and the fruit was old and unwashed.) We were able to laugh about the feeling that we were all reliving our college dorm days but that is not the experience we paid for.
We have been to Oaxaca several times and love it and we will be visiting again but we would not choose to stay in this house again.

A wonderful family getaway in Oaxaca
Our family had an amazing week in Oaxaca. What an beautiful part of the world. Ming Quing Young was an fantastic hostess. She went above and beyond to help us with difficulties that arose during our stay. Theresa stayed in the home with us and provided breakfast each morning as well as housekeeping, she was delightful. There was a concern with some water shortages during the stay but we would definitely stay again. The number of bedrooms and bathrooms accommodate a large group beautifully. There are a few great places to eat within walking distance and taxis and a bus available to get into the city and to historical sites.
4.7
Great place for large groups!
Stayed over dia de los muertos, it's a 15-20 min ride to the center, so it's best to arrange taxis beforehand or have your own transportation. Friendly staff with good breakfast each morning!

I loved this vacation home!
5/5 stars
We absolutely loved our stay at this vacation home in Oaxaca, the location in San Felipe del Agua is great, we walked everywhere from here. The city and the Zocalo of Oaxaca is by taxi only 10 minutes, easy and economical. Actually everything is an easy walk from here. The town of San Felipe del Agua is colonial and charming. A lot of small restaurants to count. The food is fantastic! Friendly people everywhere. There is so much to see and do. Ms. Quing Ming, the owner is on site and very helpful. He answered any questions we had and made sure of all our needs. There was even fresh fruit water waiting for our arrival! Very safe property although we never felt unsafe anywhere in this city. The house is very clean with assistance all the time, all the rooms are very comfortable and with full bathroom inside, very clean linen and towels, breakfast included varied and very complete with very friendly and attentive cook, water Hot all the time in the bathrooms, in the pool clean water and we enjoyed a lot After a long sunny day at the tourist attractions of Oaxaca. The only downside was the unpaved road, but very safe, everything else excellent. Without a doubt my family and I would stay here again, recommended this place for large families or groups of more than 8 people.
