About this house rental
This spacious ultra-contemporary ski-in/ski-out 2,500 square foot - 4-story home which includes a loft, sits on a mountain side above a creek with stunning views down the valley. It features an indoor sauna room, an indoor hot tub and a private outdoor hot tub looking out at Lone Peak and large, floor-to-ceiling, picture windows to soak in the surrounding mountain views. Warm up by the fireplace and enjoy the views after a fun morning of skiing. Cook a delicious meal in the funky kitchen and serve it up at the wrap-around bar. Head upstairs and down to choose a room! All of the bedrooms have unique features like floor-to-ceiling windows, cathedral ceilings, and a funky, round, jetted tub in the guest ensuite bathroom. You'll love this fun home! This home will allow 1 dog, so bring your furry friend. Please do make sure to clean up properly!
This home is ski-in and ski-out is absolutely perfect for those who want to make first tracks while the rest of the group is still sipping coffee by the fireplace. Walk down the driveway, click into your skis and make your way alongside the road to the Thunder Wolf Ski lift, as long as snow conditions permit! If the road is not snow-packed, you will just walk up the road a short distance to the Bear Back Poma lift.
Enjoy the Middle Fork Creek that runs through the property accessible by a path in the summer season!
Ski-in and Ski-out Access:
Ski-in and out to Big Sky Resort. Best for skiers. Possible for children and snowboarders, but ski-in can be more difficult for these groups.
Ski-Out | Travel down the road to the Thunderwolf Lift.
Ski-in | Intermediate and expert take Silverknife to Bear Back Poma. Ski past the bottom of the Poma on the ski trail to Low Dog Road. From here ski the road back to the house.
We recommend beginners ski to the Summit Hotel and walk out the front of the hotel and ski the road the whole way back down to Low Dog Road. Silverknife may be too steep for beginners. Note: During periods of melting the road could be exposed and cause the property to lose ski access since the road is necessary for parts of the process. The Home is only ski accessible when the road is snow-covered.
In the winter, Big Sky Resort offers “The Biggest Skiing in America” for experts, kids, and everyone in between with 5,800 skiable acres, 4,350 feet vertical drop, and average annual snowfall of 400+ inches. It's not just downhill that is superb, cross-country skiers are invited to the historic Lone Mountain Ranch, voted #1 Nordic Ski Resort in North America with over 85 kilometers of groomed trails through the wilderness. There are endless other winter activities including Yellowstone National Park, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, dog sledding, ice fishing or a relaxing day at the spa.
AWD high clearance vehicles with snow tires required in winter.
In the summer, you are just minutes from exceptional fly fishing, river rafting, golfing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, ziplining and more. Plus, the West entrance of Yellowstone National Park is only about 45 minutes away while following the historic HWY 191 along the scenic Gallatin River. Don't miss the free concerts, farmer's markets, and weekly special events throughout the summer!

Good location. Interior really needs a refresh. Dishwasher door is wonky, some windows won’t close after being opened, kitchen floor was sticky, not enough toilet paper, kitchen towels are gross even when clean. We enjoyed our stay but really expected more for the price.

Place was NOT "premier" as the decore, furnishings, and appliances appeared original (1990) and poorly maintained. Place was NOT ski in/out as stated. The unit was cluttered with strange furnishings crowding stairs, kitchen, and dining spaces. Grill unusable. Back door unlockable and warped. Half used paint cans in closet next to hot water heater, Expired fire extinguishers, No hood over stove. Driveway unplowed. (we had to park at base of driveway as our Expedition couldnt make it up drive way. Wood shed unaccassible.. Deck/path to front door and Hot tub unshoveled, with snow path. We left space w/in 90 min of entering. Did not stay as it was a fire hazard. Complained vehemently to management company. Lost the $10,000 we spent. Spent another $6,000 just to not have to stay here.

Booking was easy. Communication was good. Ski access was easy and as described. The property was also as described.

This home is ideally located for ski (easy in and out) and was prefect for morning skiing, home for lunch and back out. The home is 4 levels and so it’s helpful to all go to bed at the same time because foot noise was a small issue. The kitchen is well stocked with supplies for cooking and the bbq was really nice. The house also has lots of board games to play. Construction on the addition was happening during our stay but primarily while we were gone. We did have some issues with the contractors parking in our driveway instead of the designated one but we worked thru those with them. We had a surprise visitor (Fox) a few nights that was exciting.

Overall met expectations for ski in and ski out, the ski out there was some sidestepping to get to the lift and ski in you had to be intermediate skier to use the closest run; otherwise with snow on ground our “green” skiers could get to the property from the Main base Summit. House was well equipped with amenities like hot tub, sauna, and a huge tub for soaking if not hitting the hot tub. The kitchen had plenty of cookware and dinnerware. Big Sky is one of the best that I have skied (NV, CA, CO and the Northeast) and recommend for intermediates and experts!

Very clean, very easy, pictures make it seam ALot bigger than it actually is. But it worked great . It’s 4 stories so not recommended for people with infants or grand parents. Ski in/ski out is a little far fetched. Ski in was no issue. You do have to hike to ski out though.

Great place to stay.
Great location for skiing in and out of. Plenty of room for our group of 6. Sauna and hot tub were nice feature.

January Ski Trip
From the rental process to check out, everything was easy. The owner called us a month or so early when they learned of limited ski lift tickets. It was a nice touch to make sure we would be able to ski and enjoy. We had one small issue with the hot tub, which wasn’t an emergency, so an email was sent. Within 30 minutes someone showed up and had it running.

Overall a great place. Very convenient. As listed it is mainly ski in/out. The ski out reality is that with decent snow it is a slightly declined relatively short, skiable path along the side of the dead end road to where it leads into a slope. Pretty convenient. But ski in is really only for intermediate skiers. There is an intermediate slope that leads to the top portion of that same path along Lone Dog road to get you back. Otherwise, you got to the main base, and have to walk a bit to get to that path. Still pretty convenient, but just be informed. I would stay there again for sure. Also had some great views of Lone Peak from the living area.

Great House Great Location
We enjoyed our time here, although it was a work trip we had a great time and had everything we needed. The owners were able to answer any questions we had. We even had a black bear visit at a distance off the back deck! We will definitely be back on future trips to Big Sky!
4.7
Great property, disappointing overall experience
Nothing wrong with the property. Big Sky closed down just after we arrived, therefore a disappointing experience. We left after two nights because of the closure. Owner was most accommodating in refunding our rental for the days not used. Went the extra mile to help us. We will be back and would welcome the opportunity of staing here again.

Solid Lodging
To summarize, it’s a great property for the price. Specific pros:
1. The owner was great at communicating and very helpful. We had some cleaning issues that he helped to resolve quickly
2. The location is excellent. As mentioned in other reviews it depends a little on the snow. I would say it’s almost always a ski in and for us it was a ski out half of the time and if not it wasn’t too crazy of a walk. Like I said the owner acknowledges this In other reviews.
3. Jacuzzi is brand new and great!
4. Cant repeat enough that for location the price is unbeatable.
5. Lots of beds to accommodate a big party.
Cons:
1. Depending on what you’re looking for it’s not a luxurious kind of place. It’s a matter of expectations, it’s a great place to be near the slopes.
4.7
Great location and overall we were very happy with the accommodations. The kitchen was will stocked and the layout was great for our group to socialize and play card games. One drawback was the circuit breaker for the jacuzzi tripped several times. We had hoped for a little more direction with a couple of items. We didn't know if the food in the pantry was fair game and on our last day we were unsure if we needed to take out the trash, strip the sheets, wash towels etc. Most of us didn't ski in and out as we had access to a vehicle that dropped us off at the resort. It was an easy walk back. Two in our group did ski in and out but it did take some effort. Overall we would recommend this property for a great stay in Big Sky.

Location is great. Too bad there wasn't enough snow to make it a TRUELY ski in/out.
Walk up to Bear Back (t-bar) or ski down to Thunder Wolff lift. Perfect location. Layout of house is a little weird but plenty of space for 9 adults and 1 kid. We even have an extra bed not used. Lots of spices that we didn't use. We brought our own. Plenty of pots and pans.

Mid Winter Break
True ski in and ski out as long as the plow doesn’t rough up the edges of the road.
Lots of stairs. Be prepared to go up and down.
Kids made sled tracks on the property and spent hours outside after skiing.
The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking utensils etc. Not much room to store your own food. We did not have a hard cooler, I recommend it so you can keep your drinks outside and not have them freeze.
Hot tub was enjoyed by all. Kids used the sauna once.
Big Sky has fantastic terrain. We loved our ski vacation.
4.7
A superb, unique property ... highly recommended!
Magnificent views, easy access via trail to from slopes, well appointed and spacious lay out / floor plan
4.7
Great house for skiing
Large house with plenty of space, best stocked kitchen I’ve seen, ski in ski out if there’s enough snow and intermediate skiing ability, good experience!

Rick’s review
Great place. Large and clean. It’s a stretch to call this ski in ski out however. A great deal of polling going both directions.

17 Low Dog
Really enjoyed our stay! Great location, easy ski in/out.
4.7
Good for experienced skiers
This was our first time on Low Dog after 13 years visiting big sky. It is really ski in and ski off although I’d recommend being an intermediate skier at least. The house is vertical with lots of room for everyone to have space. Lots of cookware in the kitchen. Montana style decorations and photos.
4.7
Resort home for big families
Our entire family ran in big sky’s Rut races.. the home was .5 mile walk to start/finish line. It housed us w plenty of rooms; it is dated and needs maintenance as someone else reviewed but we loved the hot tub for sore muscles and the creek behind the house. :)
4.7
Great location!
A great house for a large group, close to lift and village. Kitchen is well stocked!
4.7
Beautiful setting...
Great location. Walking distance to the resort. Well stocked, but a bit cluttered. Needs a thorough cleaning and some updating. Overall though, we enjoyed our time in Big Sky!

Outstanding!
We spent 8 nights here end of March 2019. What a beautiful, architecturally interesting house! Very well equipped kitchen. Everything you could want is here. Hot tub and sauna too. Really liked how the bedrooms are spread out on 3 different floors...gave us some privacy. Nice for the couple of nights when we were 10 people in the house. The little deck and chairs at the entrance were perfect for taking off ski boots at the end of the day - and also the shed where we kept our skis. A few of us skied all the way home at day's end. We had to take off the skis to cross 1 driveway. We were in full spring skiing mode with warm temperatures and melting snow. We would rent this house again in a heartbeat!
