Friendly staff, great accommodation with lots of tea and coffee supplied, lovely food. Really convenient location.

Very friendly staff, great breakfast and lovely standalone rooms that felt very private. Cute animals including pigs in the garden!
Unfortunately the bed was really hard so didn't get the best nights sleep but this is personal preference and everything else was perfect.

Lovely location with views over the countryside. Cosy pub restaurant. Good choice of beers. Plenty of choices for breakfast. Friendly helpful staff. Not far from Tavistock and local walks.
It would have been good to be able to have fresh fruit as a breakfast choice.
The restaurant isn’t open on Sunday evening so we had to go to the next village for a meal.

People, location and cleanliness all good
Service for breakfast and dinner was slow. Probably short on staff?

Staff were friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Room was clean and had everything we needed. Lovely setting. Food was very good. Will definitely stay here again.

Exactly what we wanted for a short trip to Devon. Rooms were lovely, the pub itself was welcoming with great food and the staff were great. The views from the pub garden were beautiful. Super-quiet at night.

Very friendly owners. Food was really good and service. Location is fantastic. And the rooms are very cosy and comfy.
Leaving so early. Love to stay again.

The accommodation was very clean & comfortable, everything was provided, nice selection of tea & coffee. The restaurant was good, staff lovely, breakfast freshly cooked. Situated ideally for us to visit a few National Trust properties & also close to the moors.
There was nothing we didn't like.

The location is excellent! Our bedroom Wheal Betsy was immaculate, although next time, I will book a bigger room to benefit from the extra space. The view from our bedroom was far reaching.
We ate in the restaurant and it was delicious food.
Highly recommended.

Breakfast was nicely cooked and well presented.
The location was good as a base for travelling to other locations.
The restaurant was not open on Sunday evenings or Monday lunch or evenings which is not good for residents. Also during these times there are no areas to relax in. There are no nearby facilities.

Such a warm and friendly welcome. Made to feel very at home. Lovely food. Very good value for money.
Nothing it met all of our needs.

Breakfast excellent. Plenty of choice. Well cooked.
Poor tea and coffee.

Staff were amazing and friendly, breakfast was delicious
The animals were an added bonus ( apart from the cockrell)
Pub was incredibly busy on Fri and Sat night which meant a gauntlet run to get to restaurant area, some mold in bathroom but it's an old village pub, biscuits on tea tray were out of date 🤦♀️

The food was excellent, we had breakfast and an evening meal. All staff were very friendly and helpful and went out of their way to accommodate our needs. The location was lovely with ample parking.
Our room was clean and cosy. However we found the description on Booking.com website misleading as our room was described as a superking room while another room was described as a king room. We opted for the superking, thinking it would be bigger. In fact our room had a king bed and was the smallest room. Our friends' room was bigger, with a superking bed in it.

warm comfortable clean nice bed and sheets
shower room lighting a little dim but otherwise perfect

Food was particularly good and we were well looked after. Rooms were comfortable and properly equipped. Wifi was good in the pub (although a little weak in the bedrooms).
Starting breakfast a little earlier would have been useful at this time of year. For those who are walking, an early sunset means that missing an hour of walking time in the morning is sad.

Friendly traditional inn with excellent staff. Location good, parking good.
Amazing food.
The room was a wee bit small for us as an older couple but would be fine for younger people out most of the time. The fan wasn’t quite man enough for the job and the bathroom, lovely as it was, suffered from condensation with a shower.

A superbly located hotel, with lovely outlooks onto the moors. Our room looked out on a field of cows, far nicer than a road. The breakfast was well presented and very enjoyable, we didn't feel hurried at all. We couldn't find fault any way. Many of the guests were returnees as we hope to be. this is thanks to all the hard work of the owners.
We couldn't find anything we disliked.

The owners were extremely welcoming. nothing was too much and you could see they have put a lot of hard work into the pub and the accommodation. The accommodation is away from the Pub making it even more ideal as using the side entrance meant more discretion than having to walk through a busy pub.
Breakfast was exceptional and ranged from full English [delicious sausages and bacon] cereals, yogurts etc.
The pub itself was surprisingly large inside and the restaurant was away from the main bar which made it ideal for peace and quiet while you ate.
I'd say the inside of the pub was based on the old traditional look with a hint of modernisation, including a historical military theme that really made looking around quite interesting.
The location is on the main road from the moors to Tavistock. I highly recommend Tavistock as a stop-off for shopping and food too. Very quaint, clean, and has lots of variations of small niche shops. The wife loved them!!
Being so close to the moors also gives you so many options. A walkers paradise!!
One other thing about the pub is the beautiful views it has. The beer garden has some well-placed seating and the field you overlook had some miniature cows that really looked amazing/cute and seemed to just enhance what was already a lovely place to be. Parking is plentiful and my advice is to book in first at the bar then go back for your luggage as you can then go directly from the car park, through the side entrance, and to your accommodation.
The evening food was absolutely delicious and the lasagne was one of the best I have ever tasted! All freshly made at the Inn so none of this microwave-type food as other pubs do tend to give you.
I 'highly' recommend the Mary Tavy Inn. We will for sure be booking to stay there again in the future, as I would think most people would be.
This isn't a didn't like but more just to say that the room we had was not huge, so space was perhaps a 'little' cramped. But don't let this put you off any as what you might sacrifice in room size you get back in abundance with everything else at the Mary Tavy Inn.

Obviously a popular locals pub but very welcoming to visitors. Very good food and a beautiful location that they make full use of.
