Location was decent, staff were good but smell of old wood was overwhelming and lobby and common areas were too cold.

Another truly memorable stay at what has become perhaps our favourite hotel, not just in Portland but anywhere. This hotel is not just top-notch in terms of comfort and service, but has a fascinating history too, and well deserves its status as an iconic Portland landmark.

didn’t know about the airport shuttle service
4.0 / 10.0
Bathroom vanity was very small, but it is an older landmark hotel. Mattress was extremely comfortable. Restaurant service and food was quite good.

The lobby was very nice and clean. The room itself did not look like it was thoroughly cleaned before we got there. I even found items that belonged to the previous people staying there. The lobby was supposed to have coffee in the morning but always ran out when we came down and wouldn't replace it for the guests. The tv was extremely basic which is surprising to see in 2024. Didn't realize how loud that street was at night and the room we got was extremely loud. The staff were all very nice.

Convenient location. Some confusion about parking and the valet. Over all fine stay.

I loved my elegant, spacious room with a lovely view.

I paid for parking ahead of time one my Hotels.com app and then when I arrived the parking was $49 a night . I would like to be refunded the $15 I paid for parking in the app. I would take a credit as well

The Benson is a classic vintage hotel, but our room was very nice with modern updates and conveniences. You don’t always find that in older hotels.

Amazing service. I felt incredibly safe and valued as a customer staying here. $50 for valet parking but worth it for the safety of our vehicle. The history alone of the hotel is worth the stay.

Amazing hotel. Lobby is very elegant. We booked a corner room. The room is very big, comfortable and clean, but the bathroom is very smaller.
4.0 / 10.0
Excellent location, the restaurant’s food was good, and very friendly staff. I just didn’t get the boutique vibe and the bathroom was tiny. Overall I’m not disappointed and would stay again.

Let down by lack of room service and fresh towels. There were quite a few angry guests in the lobby which made the stay uncomfortable.

It would be nice if an airport shuttle would be available, or the concierge offer a solution

I recently stayed at the Benson Curio Hilton hotel and had mixed experiences. Upon check-in, the female front desk staff was not very welcoming, which set a somewhat uncomfortable tone. In the room, I encountered several issues: the hair dryer was broken, there was debris on the sheets, and the comforter had a noticeable stain.
While the mattress was comfortable, the pillows were oddly sized and not very supportive. The room felt stuffy and humid, prompting me to request a fan. Additionally, the shower design led to water leaking onto the floor, which was inconvenient.
On a positive note, the hotel is in a great location. However, given the issues I experienced, I wouldn't recommend paying more than $150 a night. It's advisable to check the sheets before getting into bed.

Clearly understaffed for full house. No assistance on parking, Simply said, good luck parking in garage downtown. We cannot help you with valet TOO BUSY
BTW, parking and walking in downtown Portland is NOT a pleasant or safe experience.

Hotel in the center of downtown. We were about 10 blocks from everything we wanted to see and enjoy. Breakfast in the morning is excellent. Boobie is a fantastic server, and enhanced our stay with suggestions of other things to experience. A great stay!

Parking is a huge problem at this hotel

Hotel is really nice, had a lot of character and history and the room was clean. Staff are great, incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Kevin! He was great. Beds are decent, the pillows are oddly small and square. Rooms have a few dings and dents here and there but overall it was pretty good. Easy walk to lots of food trucks, coffee shops and restaurants. Ride share (Uber/Lyft, etc) are never more than a few minute wait. The area outside is dirty, smells like pee, there’s lots of garbage and transient people walking around, smoking drugs, sleeping on the sidewalks, urinating in the middle of the road, etc but was never harassed by anyone.

The hallways and street were quite noisy in the middle of the night on BOTH nights I stayed at the hotel which was disappointing since it kept me awake.

A very nice classic hotel!

The staff was very kind, however, the room was smelly; when we turned the heater on at night it smelled like something dead was in the vents. No fan in the bathroom; literally one hallway light & a bathroom light, awful lighting in the room. Very uncomfortable bed & just overall a disgusting room.

The overnight parking was an additional $49 and I don’t remember reading that when I picked the hotel. There is public parking about a 1/2 block away for $28 but having all the expense facts more clearly available would be helpful.
The bed and bedding was lovely and I got a great night’s sleep!

There was a persistent beeping coming from one of the mechanical or electrical rooms next to our room and while they started they would send maintenance up to check on it, it continued to persist throughout the night and into the morning when we checked out. Faucet in bathroom was way to short and barely reached over the sink basin. Shower dripped water stove the door want sealedon the sides due the gaps in the

Great central location; well maintained historic lobby.

The systems were down, wifi was not available the whole stay which was an inconvenience because we were unable to get work done, we inquired about it and the staff was not helpful about giving us an alternative. Paid for valet, every time we had to wait average of 30 minutes to get our car, this caused us to be late to our scheduled events.

The coffee maker in the room did not work. The staff kindly made a cup for me at the front desk. Thank you.

I love old hotels and the history that accompanies these old hotels. The Benson hotel has a museum of such that showcases the history of the hotel. I did notice and was very disappointed in the fact that on one of the floors were all the presidents except for President Trump’s picture. Not sure if that was intentional. It wasn’t intentional. It’s not OK.

Nice Older property that has been renovated. Very nice staff, convenient downtown location.

We have stayed at this property before and really enjoyed it a few years ago. That is why we were so surprised at the lack of service we received this time. The propertyś wi-fi was down. It took over an hour for them to get us checked in and were making everyone wait in the lobby. Did not offer us a beverage, even water, while we waited. When we finally did gt into our room we had to ask for soap. We stayed for 2 nights and they did not offer to tidy our room or change out our wet towels. It was obvious they were short staffed, but we were never told of this. Hotel rooms keep going up, yet it seems service in most of them keeps going down. Sad.

Beautiful building. Beautiful renovated room with amazing bathtub. TVs had no VOD service, only live TV with about 45 channels.
Wifi was down for first day of my 2 day trip, no compensation was offered for this and they gave no estimates about it coming back up until the moment it happened.
No daily housekeeping was offered. My room was missing soaps and towels by the second day and I had to ask for them individually from the front desk, rather than the room being serviced.

We picked the Benson for its historical significance. In all honesty there are newer, glass and metal options for hotels in the same area but none of them compare to the majestic elegance of the Benson’s building. When you enter the lobby you feel like you’re transported back a hundred years to a time when a hotel stay meant opulence and luxury. The wood, the chandeliers, the marble. It’s breathtaking! If you like history and architecture, stay at The Benson!!

Our room was clean and quiet until next door (our room was connected to #335) came in around 9pm…the ladies talked very loud and made banging noises…
The shower was a bit challenging with hot water.
Overall, the hotel was quiet most of time and clean.
