It is certainly an experience. It is not everyday you sleep in a room built on a floating island made from Totora reeds. And you can feel the gentle sway all night long and especially in the morning when there is more boat traffic.
The terrace is a beautiful place to spend the afternoon. Make sure you book one of the rooms with sliding curtains on the terrace, our neighbors where absolutely frying to a crisp and with the sun in their eyes.
The short ride on the “Mercedes Benz” boats as they are called was also quite nice.
All this, and I suppose the price to visit and keep this traditional way of life of the Uros community does come at a price though.
Be prepared to be charged and overcharged for absolutely everything. It is to be expected but when the bill came around it still came as a shocking surprise to our wallets with extra and surprise fees.
For the price, it seems Uros Titikaka at least, was sleeping a bit on their laurels.
The Terrace and room was tidy and nice but we couldńt take a picture of the sunrise through the back window because it was a horrible garbage pit. Used tires, beer bottles, trash…
The toilet, which is the same system our cat uses at home, quickly filled up and until mid morning nobody came around to scoop and tidy everything up.
The bed sheets, from what we saw after our neighbors came and went were never washed. They dońt even have a washing machine (how could they, its a floating island). The sheets didnt smell bad but I was left a bit itchy all night long.
The only mediocre meal we had in all of our stay in Peru where both nights we stayed here. And we were charged as much as top restaurants in Lima.
Ricardo and Cynthia where kind hosts, but it seemed like maybe they needed a vacation to get back on the types of wonderful comments people have left them and quite the reason we where there in the first place.

The bed sheets, from what we saw after our neighbors came and went were never washed; they just made the bed again! They dońt even have a washing machine (how could they, its a floating island). The sheets didnt smell bad but I was left a bit itchy all night long.
We didnt expect them to charge us 60soles per person for the boat trip to and from the hotel upon check-in and check-out. Sure, other trips to the mainland where our choice and there should be a fee, but it seems like the trip to get to their hotel and back should be included.

Absolutamente todo! El desayuno es variado, la vista de la cabaña es increíble, las camas son cómodas y muy acogedoras. Ricardo y su esposa son personas increíbles, nos enseñaron mucho sobre su comunidad y el lago. Gracias 😍
Todo fue perfecto.

Everything was perfect ! The couple that manage the place does everything that they can do to make you feel well and comfortable! They provided hot bottles of water to put inside the bed to make us warm at night. The breakfast was really good as well as the dinner. Ricardo also manage our way to come to the island as well as our way to Sicuani. Thanks a lot !

Cintia and Ricardo are very kind and attentive, the place is beautiful. It's cold enough but it's worth it

Pictures of the place were beautiful but did not show you the real thing.
Our family is pretty adventurous and we grow up in Siberia but it was too much for us. It was freezing during the night and we could see our breath. For heating they used an outdoor heater which is dangerous to use in the room that ran out of propane after an hour . In the morning we didn’t have running water because the water froze we even couldn’t wash our hands. We had icicles in the sink and no hot water at all during our stay. There was also no shower which they promised to have .Most of the time we didn’t have wifi and when we did, the connection was very weak. So we cancelled our next day. And be careful with the prices they offer you for the Titicaca trip they can be overpriced and you don’t have any chance to check it online. We booked a trip for 8:00 a.m. wake up at 6:30 to have a breakfast and got to the boat at 9:30 instead 8:00. Hopefully they can improve their service because their family was nice.

Spacious room and the host takes good care of you even though communication is difficult if you don't speak Spanish. Good food and nice views. Yes at night it does get pretty cold but there's a heater, which I didn't use and also a hot water bottle if you need which actually stays warm till morning. And there is 24/7 electricity.
