We had a wonderful couple days in Cape May. Chalfonte was nice but we weren't in the main building due to it being closed for the season. Would like to stay again but in the actual hotel next time.

We didn’t know what to expect but the hotel was lovely. The staff was very friendly and welcoming.

The Chalfont is an old Victorian hotel. In the off-season you stay in the Southern Quarters. There are 9 rooms on 3 floors. Rooms 1-3 are on the first floor and the heat is controlled by one main thermostat in the hallway. Once the outside temps dropped so did the room temperature. The hallway temperature was 56. The bathroom tile floor is freezing and it took forever for the sink water to heat up. Outside of the temps, the room was nice, the bed was comfortable, nice TV with many stations. Everything is within walking distance.

If you like old world history this historical hotel is for you. My visit was during off season so didn't get to experience the hotel in full swing. Had nice amenities for being an old building.

I was pleasantly surprised that this room had a TV. I seen them advertise that they didn't offer any TV's in their rooms, but this place is so big that most of the other rooms might not have one. The bathroom was very nice. The shower was big. It was very clean. The hotel is also close to the mall so I made several trips on for. Also did a trolley ghost tour and found out that this place has a few ghosts. Which makes it a bit more interesting. I will definitely look into this place in the future.

What a quaint and charming hotel! Exceeded my expectations and I was obsessed with the wrap around porch which was perfect for breakfast in the morning and wine and live music in the evening.

When we first arrived I noticed the porches were somewhat soiled, especially the second floor porch. Underneath the bed that were layers of dust. There were large carpet stains in the hallways. The staff seemed cold and distant. Understandably, the hotel is very old and that is part of its charm but it should be kept as well as possible and as clean and attractive as possible.

Beautiful hotel, restaurant and bar, there was also entertainment. The staff was courteous and friendly. Looking forward to returning next year

No clock, tv, hair dryer. The sink was in the room and dripped constantly. Could tell by stains in the sink this was not a new issue. What I assume they considered quaint, I thought was old and tired. Wouldn’t stay there again. The bar was fun,

Would never stay at this property again. There are no TVs in the rooms. They only offer street parking which in the summer time is impossible to find. No early check in available even though half of the hotel was empty. We tried to check in at 12 and was told it wasn’t ready and we’d get a call when it was. Went to a local winery, came back at 2:30 and room still wasn’t ready. The blonde at the front desk had an attitude. We received a call at 2:40 the room was now ready and upon checking in then we were told they offer beach tags, chairs and umbrellas (why not tell us that when we had time to kill at 12?!) got to the room and it was beyond dated, had a musty smell and the room was in bad condition. Cracks in the walls and ceiling, bed was rock hard, bathroom had a step up (tripping hazard). We are from Atlantic City so we are by no means boujee nor have high expectations but this was just bad.

It is a historic hotel peaceful clise to so much. No clocks or television in the rooms, takes some getting used to.

It does have the great potential to be one of the most pristine property in the area, unfortunately, the upgrades and the cleanliness are kept to the bare minimum. Some staff were friendly and others were indifferent. The morning complimentary tea/coffee set up could also be improved, though, the affiliated restaurant, The Magnilia, is excellent! The complimentary beach chairs (2) and umbrella were much appreciated and a nice touch by the hotel for its guests.

I didn't have a t.v., refrigerator, or a microwave, but i didn't miss thrm. Room was very clean with new private bathroom.
The Howard Street Ramble was fantastic. The place to be on Thursday evening.

The room wasn't great. Few amenities. The sink was too low and the hot and cold faucets were too far apart and too close to the edges of the sink to put your hands under them. And there was no way to fill up the sink. The TP dispenser was falling out of the wall. The shower was ridiculously difficult to get water out of. The light next to the bed didn't work. No skirt hanger.
The Staff: Front desk was fine, although he forgot to tell us the wifi password. A staff member from the hotel restaurant booed us when we walked in (we had on Harris/Walz shirts), so we left and ate somewhere else.

Great old fashioned building with many historical touches. Great location, easy walk to downtown and the beach. Only on-street parking is available and it is tight. Room was smaller than some newer hotels but was clean with modern fixtures. No in room fridge, which would have been nice. Had breakfast twice in the hotel restaurant, limited selection but the omlets were fluffy and delicious.

Very old, historic property that has its charms however is in desperate need of some upgrades. The main restrooms for restaurant and lobby were pretty gross and probably haven’t been touched in decades. Definitely would avoid third floor rooms as the ac cannot handle the need. Restaurant meals good as was the service. Would recommend with caveats.

Beautiful exterior of the hotel and loved the historic aspect. Lovely bar and the breakfast we had was amazing! Highly recommend the pancakes! Only downside was the walls are REALLY thin. Would probably request to be on an upper floor if possible in the future!

Property is among oldest hotels in Cape May and has that kind of old world charm, yet the modern AC and cleanliness of room, along with pleasant and friendly staff helped make our stay enjoyable.

The Hotel was just what I needed, in the sense of being transported back to the 1800’s. I liked that there was no tv in any of the rooms. That made me want to explore the area and the hotel even more.
