About this cottage rental
Lounge with open fire place and bay window, dining room overlooking the garden, bathroom, modern recently fitted kitchen, master bedroom with king size bed, second bedroom with full size bunk beds. Front and rear gardens, patio area with good views, with outside dining furniture and gas barbecue. Private hot tub (seats 5), with lighting, and massage jets.
The rear garden is enclosed and terraced on two levels, and care must be taken when approaching the edges of the terraces. Distant sea views from the hot tub!
The cottage is in a designated 'Dark Skies' reserve, and the quantity and brightness of stars that can be seen whilst relaxing in the hot tub is amazing.
Croquet, boules, and garden badminton equipment is there for you to use in the garden, or on the beach.
There are traditional family board games provided, a 1960's record player (and records!), lots of books, as well as free fast Wi-Fi, X-Box & games, family DVDs and TV.
Bryn Heulog is in the hamlet of Friog, right by an award winning beach, with the foothills of Cader Idris and the famous 'Blue Lake' behind it.
The area has fantastic walking and cycling attractions, to suit all abilities and experience. Coed-y-Brenin Forest Park Mountain Bike Centre is close by, as is the family friendly Mawddach Trail, which can include a crossing of the famous Barmouth Bridge, or a stop at the George III by the toll bridge in Penmaenpool for a pub lunch.
You can walk from the front door to the hills behind which reach to the beautiful and dramatic Cregennen Lakes, and further on to Cadair Idris itself, passing lots of local waterfalls, Victorian Slate and Gold Mines, with amazing views over Cardigan Bay.
The beach is a few minutes walk away, and is always quiet. It is sandy, and gently sloping, and perfect for families. There is always lots of opportunity for kite flying, rock-pooling, fishing, kayaking, paddling, swimming, beachcombing, sandcastle making, crabbing, or just lying down in the sun with a good book.
The narrow gauge railway at Fairbourne is a very short walk away, and is one of the famous little trains of Wales. You can catch it to 'The Point' facing Barmouth, and then catch the connecting local ferry across the estuary to get to the Victorian Seaside town. From there you can book a boat for some sea fishing, visit the theatre, the fairground, or one of the many shops and restaurants.

We have had the best week at this holiday home. House was beautiful, clean and spacious with everything needed. Perfect for the dog and really secure, lovely walks on the sea front and mostly dog friendly beaches. The hot tub was divine after walking on the beaches for hours! It’s is a 10 minute walk to the beach in either direction with stunning scenery everywhere. The village of Fairbourne has lots of amenities, the chippy is great and the bar and grill is lovely for a meal. We went on a day trip or two and took the train to Barmouth which was really cheap and lovely. We wouldn’t hesitate to come back! Thank you Eloise for making us feel welcome and looked after.

We had the most enjoyable week at this cottage, we all (2 ad, 14yo, 11yo & 2 dogs) felt straight at home. The garden & hot tub were just perfect after a day exploring the coastline, lakes & mountains! Some beautiful walking routes into the hills or along the coast from the cottage. We had everything we needed & more - thanks so much to the lovely hosts!

Another wonderful stay at out favourite place. The cottage is homely and comfortable with a fabulous garden for the dogs and a hot tub to relax in after a day on the beach or in the hills.
Perfect location close to the centre of Fairbourne and the beach. Hosts are great at communicating and very welcoming.
We'll be back again soon.

This was a perfect little getaway, the cottage had everything we needed just remember to take own towels. The owner called us day before to remind us, great communication. Location fab we walked to local train station and then took train and ferry to Barmouth which was a lovely day out. The next day was cloudy so read through the information owner had kindly left and decided to visit the Magic lantern cinema which was great experience. The hot tub was definitely what attracted us to stay here and it was everything we hoped for, lovely garden and when sun out it was just perfect. I would highly recommend this property to anyone you won't be disappointed. Thanks so much would love to visit again

We loved our time here. Although the weather wasn’t great, we enjoyed wonderful walks on the beach - particularly crossing the bridge to Barmouth. The hills behind the house are beautiful too, and the whole area is just lovely.
The hot tub was great and we enjoyed the novelty of having a record player - so much so that we’ve come home and bought one! I left something behind and Eloise kindly offered to post it back to me too.
We’d definitely return!

Second time at the property and would definitely recommend. Fab location, lovely flat walks into Barmouth. House is clean and has everything you need. The owners are very friendly and willing to help you make the most out of your stay. Open fire place and hot tub make it an even more enjoyable stay. No matter what the weather there’s lots of entertainment provided for all the family in the house. Feels like a home from home.

Lovely Bugalow and Location would have given it Five Stars but regrettably let down by the Heating and Hot Water Services…Left uncomfortable in the Evenings and failed to provide a Bathful of Water.

Property is in a lovely, peaceful location with some nice views. A walk down to the welcoming pub in Friog is worth it - they serve some great food and Ale! Trips out to Barmouth and the Lakes definitely worth it for some fresh air and pictures. Cottage was in generally good order, well located and good value for money. Owner was excellent throughout and communicated everything perfectly to us. Hot Tub was an added perk and the gardens were lovely and private.

We liked the property and it's layout. It was warm, and we liked the kitchen/dining area and living room and the furniture.
The hot tub is nice touch.
There are some small things that we personally feel could be tweaked -
We left early as my partner and I struggled with sleeping on the mattresses and were not getting any decent sleep which really ruined the holiday for us. So while that's a personal thing I feel that maybe the type of mattress (foam type I think?) could be reviewed or at least a a thick mattress topper could be supplied. so visitors had the choice to put it on. Same for the bunk beds.
The fridge freezer did not get as cold as we expected and hoped for - maybe that is because it did not have a lot of items in it, but we had it turned to the highest setting but it did not get as cold as our one at home on half the setting - both the same make.
The shower was a disappointment - it is not that powerful.
The property was clean and pleasant, but it could do with a spring clean behind the furniture.
The chests of drawers in each bedroom are stiff to open - they need to be easier for older people and for people with arthritis in their hands as my partner has.
The bedding seemed a little old and tired? We think the bottom sheet was new as my partner saw a label on it - but ideally it should have been washed beforehand to get the 'newness' out of it and make it feel softer.
Also some new/plumper pillows would be good.
If you take dogs, then, if they are like mine and a bit stupid!, be aware that there is not any fencing around the edges and so they may jump down from some height, on to hard surfaces. Some picket fencing would be a good idea.
A padlock on the side gate would be welcome.
Fairbourne itself, is quiet - to be fair we did visit out of season, but there did not seem much that would be open in season. My fault for not checking what was close by.
The walk to Barmouth is nice, though can be windy on the bridge so wrap up warm!
The hills behind are stunning for walking. It showed how unfit we are!
The locals were very friendly - surprisingly a lot were English!

We had a wonderful week away.
The whole family enjoyed our stay. We enjoyed very long walks along the beach, taking in the breath taking scenery for hours during the day and rested our tired bones in the lovely hot tub when back at the house.
A great, relaxing break for all the family ❤️

We stayed here just for the weekend, but we wished we had booked for longer.
Such a lovely, comfortable little cottage. We both loved how cosy the lounge was and enjoyed playing some of the old vinyls on the ‘Dansette’ record player 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
The hot tub was amazing, we were lucky enough to have a clear night to enjoy the stars.
We can thoroughly recommend this place, Eloise the host was perfect, thank you for the Prosecco 🥂🥂
