The views were amazing. Saw many birds and loved the sounds of the jungle at night.

AWESOME! Just for the location alone...STUNNING VIEW!
I've stayed in many accommodations round the world over the years. I don't think any beat this location.
It's a little more challenging, driving up the rough roads to get to this viewpoint....but that only adds to the adventure!
Charming & helpful staff, large comfortable rooms (I slept like a baby), lots of outdoor seating & viewpoints to just "soak in the vista!"
Cute restaurant run by the super sweet ticas....they will take care of all your hunger needs LOL
Overall super great experience....Will be back for more!!
The only thing I would suggest is improving the availability of hot water & water pressure. I'm sure this can be challenging considering the location.

The views from the property were amazing! They also have a pool and a jacuzzi available and massages services. Another plus was the included breakfast
It was far from the city and would definitely need to rent a car to go back and forth. The dirt road heading up to the hotel is rough, especially after it rains

View of the volcano
Was not adequately described on the conditions of getting to the facility. Pictures show you to be right on the lake. The reality is you are on a very high mountain that was very treacherous to get to. We arrived right before closing, was pitch black dark with poor lighting, and the host literally waved his hand down the hill in the direction of the cabin. We had to go search to find it. The shower was horrible, the beds old, not soft at all. Do not recommend.

Fantastic views of the whole Arenal area, very friendly and helpful restaurant staff.
Room was a bit too small and the facilities were a bit tired.

Breakfast and facilities were great. Location was great but property was a little difficult to reach by car.
Road to the property.

The incredibly beautiful view from our room, the lovely landscaping and lush vegetation and gardening they do, the hot tub, the pool, the great breakfast and friendly staff. My teenage boys asked for extra breakfast portions and were given without any charge and with a smile. I also got great advice from Joel at the reception on great places to go for enjoying the hot springs, he told me about the Termalitas de Arenal which were very reasonable (4500 colones per person) and just wonderful, more local than other places which can cost up to $80 for the day (!) And there is so much to do on the property with the pool, hikes nearby, and massages. This is really a great place for families.
I suppose the only thing that is tough about Nepenthe is getting there if you arrive at night. The road is very steep (for a reason, because the view is so beautiful) but at night, in the rain, we found it long and very steep. Yet it's worthwhile so i recommend not arriving there at night so you can also enjoy the breathtaking views and scenery with less stress.

Place is magical, staff is very friendly and helpful but bungalows could use some renovation. Ours was completely empty with only bed and couch that was completely broken. Kitchen was also empty. On the other hand whole place is worth visiting with its views and atmosphere.

Juan at the Phoenix restaurant and all the ladies who work there are amazing! They truly made our stay memorable and remarkable. The pool area is Beautiful with the most gorgeous views.
We didn’t have hot water for our first two days there and then had to ask multiple times for them to fix it.

Views, food, friendly staff
The location is a little hard to get to without a car but we managed fine with taxis/lifts from Nepenthe

Location was amazing! And we saw so many beautiful birds all around the yard!!! Also some monkeys were up in the trees. Wow! Very lovely and calm place.
My bed was big, but noisy.

Location a bit hard too get to, but doable with 2wd sedan

Amazing location with beautiful view. Great restaurant within the resort. Spa and massages are offered for good price. Staff was amazing.
Although kitchen is part of the room, there is basically no equipment. We didn't need it, but then don't understand the purpose of kitchen being part of the room :)

Such a nice and welcoming staff. Great service too. I had an amazing massage that really helped me relax after a long drive! Super close to the main touristic attractions yet in a very quiet area. We really loved our stay!

the view, the quiet, nice breakfast.
the WiFi was very spotty and required constant tweaking.
would be nice to have the hot tub at a more inviting location (like the amazing pool).
4.5
beautiful view & farther from the touristy town centre. quiet, beautiful wildlife sightings from the porch.
the facilities were a little dated, but everything was still nice. a few bugs, but I think you cannot avoid this in the jungle and it was not a problem.
4.5
Very beautiful place with an incredible view over the Arenal lake and area. Could see many animals (monkeys, toucans, pillories, ...) directly from the terrace & pool.

The view, serenity, and friendly staff
Overall, the structure, lighting, and accommodations were dated and needed upgrading/remodeling. The main shower was ok, the second bath shower was inoperable. the view, serenity, and price made this wonderful for two to three people (no more due to the bathrooms.)

Beautiful location, great views, infinity pool and great pizza! We really liked the accomodation/room/appartement which was really cosy with a beautiful terrace with the same great views. The whole place has a great vibe! We stayed for 2 night but did not want to leave, unfortunately there was no availability.
no complaints at all!

We had a wonderful time at Nepenthe. We stayed in the villa on the corner of the building. The view from there was amazing! We saw hummingbirds and toucans while sitting on our porch. The location is great. It is very quiet as it is far from the city center of La Fortuna (30min). The entrance of the Volcan Arenal is close by (20min). Special thanks to Ronny who made our stay very pleasant. He helped us book the Sky Limit tour at Sky Adventures, he prepared the hot tub and even closed our windows when we forgot it when we went on a hike.
The villa is well equipped. Nice warm showers.
Breakfast was yummy. They even replaced the meat with avocado or fresh fruit if we felt like eating vegetarian. We also recommend eating at the Phoenix Restaurant for dinner. They have the best pizza! It was 'al gusto': just say everything you want on your pizza. We ordered 2 pizzas for the 3 of us and we still had some left for the next day. I really recommend staying in the villa at Nepenthe. It was worth the steep drive up the hill! Pura Vida!
The hotel is on a steep hill, 30 minutes outside La Fortuna. I think it is manageable with a normal car, but I was glad I was driving a 4x4.
One bedroom was next to the kitchen, without a door, and the refrigerator made some noise which required us to use some earplugs at night.
We had a couple of blackouts but never for a long time. This seems common in the area.

The staff is friendly, helpful, and pleasant . The breakfast is included and located on property. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. Great location, many things to do in the area. Would recommend a short stay.
Rooms were a little outdated and had a weird smell to them. Be careful when driving up to the location. Very windy and narrow road with gravel--- not for the faint heart. In our first room, we found bugs everywhere, but once we switched rooms, we were good.

Wonderful view, staff extremely helpful, they did their best to accommodate our preferences and to make sure we enjoyed our stay there. Fabián even gave us several lifts with his own car! We had a terrific stay and would definitely recommend it.

we got an upgrade from a double room to a huge 3bdr villa! it was amazing, big windows, big spaces, lovely garden with egg chairs and fantastic view. there is a breathtaking pool and even the restaurant is potentially very cute, although it is time to refurbish it if I may say. All the gardens are perfectly maintained and blooming in flowers. Staff very helpful and friendly, always available on WhatsApp for questions. we also used the jacuzzi during a rainy windy night: it was the best!
The only thing that could use some more love is breakfast. it’s very minimal and everything is very dry. they only offer the typical Costa Rica’s one or egg with bacon, but after 2 days when I asked for fruits instead they offered me pancakes. So it was a pleasant surprise.
