Kona recalls the Beach Boys playing their pop hits by the pool. The band left but the good vibrations linger. Situated on 9.5 gated acres, gated for with an amazing Hawaiian plantation-style home with separate sleeping quarters and a guest house. Pool hot tub, gas outdoor fire pit and tennis court make it feel like a mini-resort. Mature tropical fruit trees shelter exotic floral gardens.

At the center of the multi-structure compound, a big plantation-style home is a credit to a California architect who made the extra effort and captured the essence of a Hawaiian exotic retreat. Existing floor plans testify the main house and guest house were designed for Steven and Mike Love in 1972. From its cool, comfortable 1300 ft elevation the largest residence commands Kona coastline views that extend to include Kealakekua Bay and Kona. On Wednesdays you can see the cruise ship in he harbor.
Beyond the gated entrance a concrete drive ascends to a regulation sized tennis court. where the band often played for parties. A screened room beside the court is used as the current owner’s gym.
The beautifully remodeled kitchen and three of the four and a half baths retain tile custom made for the famous original owners. The main house offers three bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths. Guests also have full use of the 2 bedroom Ohana (guest house) consisting of 1 queen bedroom , 1 bedroom with double bunk beds, 1 bathroom, full kitchen and living room.
Mature mango, coffee, avocado, lime, orange, banana, papaya, passion fruit and an assortment of other tropical fruit trees are the foundation plantings for multiple shade gardens filled with exotic flowers. If you are looking for a peaceful country hide-away, you must see the Beach Boys' Estate. You may hear the music, feel the good vibrations and never want to leave the warmth of the Kona sun.

Had a great time at the property. Was clean, in good condition, and the property manager even heated the pool for us before we arrived! Can’t recommend enough for a large group or family.

This property is amazing. Our 3 families stayed at The Beach Boys Estate over Christmas and into the new years.
Everything was well taken care of and the beds were comfy. The kids loved the 9 aches to run and play, while the adults loved the tennis courts. Everyone loved the pool and hot tub which were used everyday during our stay.
Everyone enjoyed picking the fresh fruit that we used for fresh orange juice, Limeade and guacamole.
Justin was so helpful and brought us fresh coconuts from the estate. Which was a wonderful treat for the kids!
Justin also had a beautiful welcome gift of chacuterie items for our crew when we arrived. We all enjoys the items during our 2 week stay.
The layout of the home provided private areas for all 3 families to have some space and wonderful gathering areas for meals and hanging out.
I highly recommend this home if you are visiting the Big Island.

Our extended family of 11 stayed at this property for a week. Our group included ages 3-82. The property is laid out such that everyone had their own space, with plenty of large shared spaces for us to all be together. The pool is amazing. The tennis court/basketball were a huge hit with young people. The house is stocked with all the basics you wonder about (basic spices, zip lock bags, foil, TP/paper towels). The host Guy was amazing, replied to every question almost instantly and even provided us with tips on a local bakery. If you want to experience a different side of Hawaii (the authentic one). This is the place for you - it is a luxury surrounded by the beauty and peace of rural Hawaii.

If you are looking for your own piece of paradise, this place is what will make you feel that way. It was so quiet and peaceful. It feels like you are on your own private island. Views are unbelievable and they never get old!

Fantastic property with plenty of rooms for 10 adults for an 8 day trip from Ohio. We were very impressed with the 2 houses in great condition and the landscape, pool, spa, tennis/pickleball court, and only a short 3 min. drive to the ocean. Memorable Ocean views and very little wind! Great climate. Very fair price per night.

The property is beautiful. There was enough space and cozy nooks for us to be alone when wanted. But, places for us all to be together. There were 12 family members for 10 days, it was great. The kitchen had every gadget, it was clean The beds were comfortable. Everything was provided.
Our hosts were available to us if needed.
AND our Hosts, Guy and Justin were available if we needed them.
It was like being home. This was such a wonderful experience for my whole family! The best vacation ever! This home is perfect! Thank you Guy and Justin, you were so nice and respectful. Darinda (Rindy)

This property was great for multi-generations.
We enjoyed every bit of it - we played pickleball, basketball, we swam, we loved the spa & even made s’mores! We ranged in age from 5 to 67. We enjoyed our Beach Boys music while hanging out at The Beach Boys estate! 😊
The fruit trees were interesting, we especially enjoyed the fresh squeezed orange juice! & the lemons. We found fabulous avocados at a fruit stand down the road.
Guy was most helpful & accommodating- thank you!!!
We had a great time exploring the Big Island.
Almost forgot we are missing the night sounds now that we are back home in Iowa. Great memories were made!!!! 😊😊😊😊😊

What an incredible home! From the minute we drove up the driveway, this property stunned us with beauty. The acreage has plentiful fruit trees which allowed us to have fresh squeezed juice most mornings. The home itself, sitting near the top of the property, and the Ohana cottage, has a uniqueness which offered our group both together and alone time. Very well appointed with supplies. The pool and spa were absolutely wonderful! Everything was clean and well taken care of!
And then there is the host. Very congenial! Guy takes great pride in this property and it truly shows!
We feel truly blessed to have had the opportunity to spend time at this home and create many fond memories with family! Thank you Guy!

Our extended family stayed here, 13 people. 7 adults and 6 kids ranging in ages from 5 to 15. This place is perfect for families and large groups. Everything was clean and the property is stunning. There is a sports court with equipment, the pool and hot tub are perfect, and it is fully stocked with beach chairs, boogie boards, etc so you just get to show up and enjoy. We really enjoyed our time and highly recommend.

The property is situated with a stunning view of the coastline. The house has a good kitchen and breakfast area as well as a dining room. The large living room is peaceful and the attached screened porch was popular place to sit and for both the adults and kids. There are several outdoor sitting areas as well. The master bedroom is spacious and has a large porch as well. The pool and spa area is spectacular and everyone spent a lot of time there. The house is supplied with a lot of everything you need for a beach vacation and for the kids to enjoy the pool. The house grounds are well maintained and include numerous fruit trees and palms. The entire property is lovely.

Lovely property with plenty of space for everyone. We loved the many patios and screened in areas. We spent lots of time in the pool and spa.

We are a group of 11 celebrating a 30th birthday with multigenerational friends and mostly family. The home was as described in terms of logistics: well stocked, clean and very spacious.
What can’t be adequately described is the property itself. It is a beautiful, lush 9.5 acre paradise. Everyday we found a new type of fruit to research and enjoy including limes, pomelo, avocado (huge, btw), coconuts, cacao, dates and many others, several of which we couldn’t identify. Every day we were visited by wild turkeys, black hogs (I guess they are being relocated but we enjoyed seeing them) and countless varieties of birds and geckos.
We enjoyed the proximity to Pebble Beach and Two Step Beach for snorkeling. We rented snorkel gear for the week and got our money’s worth just frequenting the nearby beaches.
The views from the house are stunning. The pool and spa were great, we spent a lot of time there and in the screened lanai. Such a great place to stay.
Guy, our host was available at all times, very helpful and respected our privacy.
I could go on and on. Just book it, you will love it!

This is an amazing property with a host who is incredibly responsive. We especially loved enjoying the pool, playing pickle ball, and the spectacular sunsets. It is very "loved" and could use some upgrades but I would absolutely come back!

10 family members, two vehicles, 9 days - and lifelong memories made. Guy could not have been a more gracious host. Everything we needed in the home was available (Ok, we bought the food!). Believe it or not, the pictures don't do the home justice. Simply an incredible property.

Enjoyed our stay at the house and loved the property. We had 11 people and there was plenty of room to spread out and not be on top of each other the entire time. The walk to the pool in the evening was better than the pictures. We loved the pool area and fire pit. Needed some help from Guy at the beginning and he was very quick to help out. Lost something on our way out, he found it and mailed it to us. You cannot beat the views from this place, no matter where you are at in the house.

The house had everything we needed. We had a lot of fun at the pool and loved having the grills available to us. There were plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas which was great for beach days.

This private home is absolutely gorgeous!!! Very secluded and private with a magical view of the ocean. Everything was amazingly clean and beautifully furnished. I highly recommend this beautiful estate! Plenty of room for everyone. We will be back…next year!

This beautiful property will always be special to me and my family; too difficult for me to put in words.
Gus was more than accommodating and helpful. He even taped pickle ball lines on the tennis court for us.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Beach Boys Estate! The home is beautifully decorated and spacious.
The pool and sprawling property kept the kids occupied for hours looking for ripening fruit and running down the hill to the tennis court. Guy, the owner was responsive and helpful before, during and after our stay. We would highly recommend staying in this lovely home!

Great place to house my multigenerational family from 10 to 80. Enjoyed the communal areas coupled with everyone able to have their own private areas too. Kitchen nicely stocked. Pool fantastic. Guy was extremely responsive and helpful. Pebble Beach nearby was wonderful and calm/safe when we went and parking (in summer primetime) was not a problem at all. Rating 4/5 for location related to distance to town but that’s a bit unfair as we knew going in the place is somewhat remote- but really only 20 minutes or so to the large grocery store; also a plug for Shaka Tacos- yum! Still on location, great ocean view and the kids (and adults too) loved exploring the expansive property. Tennis court was a nice bonus we used a couple times (hint: drive).,Overall would certainly recommend, and hope to go back!

I had been looking for a special vacation ever since I was diagnosed with a terminal lung disease and given 2-5 years to live. I wanted a special place for my family to gather. Growing up in the 1960's, the Beach Boys House connected with me. I am so glad that we picked this place of peace and serenity.
My wife and I invited our children and their families. We also invited some very close friends. When we first arrived at the house, all of us were so excited to be spending ten days at this paradise. It became the hub to all of our activities on the Big Island. It was a 25-minute ride into Captain Cook and 45-minute ride into Kona for many of our day trips. To some this may seem too much, but let me tell you, when your return to the house, it really felt like home. Because of its location, it was much cooler than being down in Kona all the time. The estate came with a magnificent pool and hot tub, which were the center of activity while at the house.
Another unique feature was the property. There were fruit trees full of coconuts, mangos, avocados, bananas, lemons, limes, oranges, cacao pods and much more. The property also had turkeys, Hawaiian pheasants, mongoose, a few pigs, chickens and a wide variety of birds. Everyone enjoyed walking the grounds and finding new discoveries every day,
We also had a wonderful dinner catered at the house by Jasmine's "Heartbeet."
As my daughter said: This place was what one envisions the real Hawaii experience to be.

Family vacay. Every time we went into Kailua-Kona, we realized why we stayed south of Captain Cook. Grocery stores are close enough and the view and solitude are unparalleled, as are the amenities. Guy took care of us like we were ohana.

Beautiful views, excellent property, owner easy to work with and easy to access. We enjoyed our stay with family, had plenty of room. Pool area was great, covered balconies, sun porch and breeze way. We absolutely loved everything about our stay, hated to leave to head back home. Thank you for everything!

Loved everything about our stay. All of the amenities we wanted and more. Kitchen was very well equipped. Spent a lot of time poolside, rain or shine. The property is beautifully decorated. Guy was very responsive and kind. Hope we have the opportunity to return.

Are you looking to get away from most of the crowds and enjoy Kona in a way that will make you seriously think about not leaving? Than stop looking and book this rental.
This house doesn’t disappoint. The two separate houses worked great for the adults to have their space and the kids to have theirs, but the pool and the kitchen is where everyone hung out.
The views, the grounds, and just being away from the noise was great. It’s a 45 long minutes from the airport but it is worth every minute and the drive gets shorter the more you do it.

The house and property are special. The views are incredible and the area is gorgeous. We had fun cooking together in the kitchen and sitting on the many lanais. Swimming, relaxing in the hot tub, tennis, hiking down along the coast...all were great. Loved it all. The host was very responsive, helpful and enthusiastic. Thank you!

Everything about the listing was 100% accurate - the Beach Boys House is every bit as beautiful in person as it was in the photos! Our group of three families enjoyed the multitude of fresh fruit offerings on the property and we were surprised just how much use we got out of the tennis court. The pool area is terrific and made for countless hours of entertainment and relaxation. Guy was a very welcoming, accommodating host and answered all of our questions and inquiries in a very timely fashion, on top of giving great advice on potential activities for our group as we had never been to the Big Island before. The history of the place is very unique and part of the appeal, but so too is the location and host. We loved the proximity to Ho'okena Beach, where we spent several days. Pebble Beach and Two Step were also close by and were highlights of the trip. Thanks again Guy for being such a great host!

Guy is wonderful!! He was acceptable and helped us with any questions and recommendations very quickly. The house is incredible. We are still speechless. We absolutely loved the avocado tree, the lime tree, the orange tree. We enjoyed fresh squeezed orange juice every morning.!! The best for incredible. The sunsets stunning. We used the workout gym every morning. Everything was fabulous. Highly recommend this house and extra guest Ohana up the hill.

This is a true gem of a property. The listing is highly accurate and correctly depicts the many incredible aspects of the houses and grounds. We had regular communication with the owner. When minor issues occurred, they were addressed immediately and with minimal disturbance to us and our guests. I couldn’t recommend this property more for a relaxing getaway from busy life!

A group of 8 adults enjoyed two weeks at this well appointed and peaceful estate to celebrate 40th birthday milestones. Guy, our host, met us at the house on day one to give us a tour of the property and an orientation to its many amenities. He also made himself available by phone/text for any questions and he provided some excellent recommendations for day trips and restaurants. The property is quite true to the photos but even the photos are insufficient to capture all of its special elements. We spent much time at the house, especially enjoying the pool and hot tub set off from the main house such that every direction had its own beautiful view. We also cooked quite a bit, availing ourselves of the fantastic gas grill (there are two grills on site), the rice cooker, roasting pans, and double ovens. The kitchen is incredibly well supplied. Guy even purchased an additional piece of equipment when I mentioned our cooking plans ahead of our arrival. We marched down the hill to near the entrance to the driveway for several days of tennis on the private court and a couple visits to the gym room alongside the court. The main house is spacious, allowing relaxed gatherings in the breezeway, in the living room, in the kitchen, and in the screened-in porch area, which often served as our headquarters for taking in the sunset over a glass of wine.
To get this spacious and luxurious experience, you'll be a 40-minute drive from the bustle of Kona and it's well worth it. Stop to grab Shaka Tacos or Honauanu poke along the way. The estate's location also gives you a head start on your journey to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Go pre-dawn for lava viewing at Kilauea without any crowds. Take a night snorkel with the Manta Rays (for the daring, a smaller boat tour is worth it - we were on a 15-ft vessel that accommodated 6 guests). For quick trips to beach, the house is a short drive to Two-Step for excellent snorkeling and to Ho'okena Beach Park for easy parking, gray sands, and swimming in variable surf.
Bedrooms and bathrooms are well stocked with bedding and towels, extra toiletries, and more. We never shut a single window and enjoyed the consistently comfortable temperatures at night. With many ceiling fans in practically every room, you have consistent air flow during the day. In September, we had sunny mornings, a brief sprinkle in the afternoon, perfect sunsets with 180-degree views, and comfy nights. An unforgettable trip!

Came here to celebrate my 40th birthday with friends and family. The pictures on VRBO are beautiful but still don’t compare to how beautiful this property is in person. It’s just far enough away from the bigger cities to allow for some quiet and lack of any traffic but close enough to get to excursions. The acres covered in beautiful plants and fruit trees that you’re able to pick yourself make it a truly unique experience.
The Ohana suite is a little further away from the rest of the house than we realized but can be nice if you have a portion of your party that appreciates some privacy. And it even has its own kitchen.

A gathering of 12 ranging from 78 yrs. to 8 months enjoyed a week at Opihihale for a 50th anniversary celebration. The house worked well for us, seeing that it had 2 Pack and Plays and high chairs, a gated pool, swim vests and tubes( which were nice to have since there was little shallow water area), board games for the older kids along with tennis equipment. The kids loved watching the geckos, pigs and chickens but not the bees. The property, with its hills and humidity, provided great opportunities to build up endurance for the walkers and runners. The kitchen had numerous pots and pans, cooking utensils, vinegars and oils along with 25 plus different spices. A great delight for the chefs in our family as they prepared dinner every night which was eaten watching the amazing sunsets. We enjoyed discovering, identifying and trying the various fruits, especially the breadfruit.
Dinner clean-up was a little more challenging due to the low water pressure and limited hot water.
I must say I never knew that frogs could sound like people. At first we thought the singing was recorded sounds of nature, but then realized that the frogs wake up at dusk and go to sleep at dawn. Mahalo!

This is one unique property! The main house is charmingly Hawaiian with koa wood floors and interesting architectural details. The house was very spacious and comfortable for our multigenerational family of thirteen. We appreciated the fact that the kitchen and the house in general was well stocked with supplies.. A huge bonus was having three large refrigerators; one in the kitchen, one just off of the kitchen, and one down by the pool. Newer beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, ice chests, and other beach equipment were provided. The grounds are very lush with many fruit trees. Even a juicer was provided to make fresh squeezed orange juice. There was plenty of comfortable outdoor furniture both down at the pool and up at the house. Everyone enjoyed the pool and hot tub! Sunset views were magnificent. Something that stands out as completely unique and so enjoyable were the nighttime insect and frog chorus. The Beach Boy house is truly a special place because it is away from the tourist hordes. It was peaceful and quiet without a lot of outside distractions. It was the perfect family vacation! Additionally, Guy is responsive and very easy to work with. He made sure everything was in top condition before we arrived. We highly recommend the Beach Boy House!

Amazing property, everything we needed and more for a family of 7. Beautiful house, laid back yet elegant style. Pool/hot tub were great, view was incredible even on the days it rained. Fresh limes right outside the kitchen were perfect. We will be back next time we find ourselves on Big Island. Mahalo!
