Property is fully fenced in for the safety of children and furry family. A bird watcher's dream, hummingbirds, and many varieties of birds come to our feeders.
Bring the kids and SWIM AND TUBE on the New River, hike trails and bike our railroad grade roads alongside the New River. The cabin is striking with vaulted pine LOG WALLS and exposed-beam CATHEDRAL CEILINGS. Comfy seating and gorgeous mountain views through the huge windows and doors. Enjoy the WOOD-BURNING FIREPLACE or play Foosball, giant JENGA, ping pong or darts. We have a cabinet full of kid's and adult board games, jigsaw puzzles and more for indoor enjoyment.
The fully-equipped kitchen has a large breakfast bar and dining area. All the conveniences of your home kitchen! 2 WRAPAROUND DECKS for dining & grilling, Adirondack chairs and gliders with plenty of seating to enjoy the sounds of the river and drink in the mountain views. 2 picnic areas for outdoor dining. Accessible outside areas are fully fenced. Bird-watching is a favorite activity from the decks. Two brand-new memory foam sleeper sofas provide comfort and convenience. All 4 bedrooms are charmingly decorated and spacious.

A PRIVATE step down HOT TUB is located on the lower deck for you to enjoy after a day of hiking, skiing and mountain activities. Have a real outdoor campfire or cookout in the FIREPIT, or cook on our gas grill.
Very private community, but close to all activities. 5 miles to App State
River Community: Bearfoot Hideaway is in a private family oriented river community along The New River. Fish from the banks or bridge, stroll along the banks, enjoy the wildlife.
Nature at its best: Relax and enjoy the gorgeous views or watch the birds and woodland animals from one of our huge wrap around decks, or while soaking in our sunken hot tub. Then dry off and warm yourself by our outdoor firepit, or our stone fireplace.
If you are so inclined, please feed the birds and hummingbirds with the food we have in the cabin.
We also provide WIFI and free long distance calling and trash pickup which is something you will NOT find in most cabins in the mountains.
We have instituted enhanced cleaning protocols to disinfect the cabin between guests. Check in and check out times have been changed to accommodate longer cleaning times.
Underground Power lines: Bearfoot Hideaway is located in a community with underground power lines! The benefit if which is that the cabin does not have power outages when the weather is inclement, as other homes in the area experience frequently. During the blizzard of '09 when 88% of Watauga county was powerless, (some for more than 4 days), Bearfoot Hideaway did not experience even one split second of power loss.
Security: We are in a private gated community. Our property access is protected outside via motion sensor lights that will light the stairs for your arrival, smart doorbell and security monitoring for your safety.

Family vacation, despite the rare 4 days of rain, we had an incredible stay. Vistas. Family time. Quiet. Deer. Hot tub. Grill (used only once as we cooked great meals. Trish responsive for a minor hot tub issue even on vacation! Nina and three year old had a great time with games, some we brought. Sun returned last two days for river activities. Close to Boone but NO traffic. Would like to go back again.

Great place for a weekend getaway.

Property is just as listed
Downstairs gets very cold and since this was our 2nd visit we expected space heaters but could not locate any, so we just used extra blankets.
Wood fire place is one of our favorite things

We really enjoy the mountains and this cabin was a great spot to enjoy the views, get away, and relax. Owners were very accommodating and made the stay memorable.

Great time with our family!

We rented the cabin for a weekend visit to App State. The location was ideal. It’s secluded and peaceful but still very convenient to Boone. The boys enjoyed having the downstairs living room and game area. The decks were really nice and we loved the fenced areas of the yard. The owners were very responsive and helpful. It was a great mountain getaway!

Great location for a girls trip. Had a great time and everything we needed was supplied. Would definitely recommend for a group.

This cabin very comfortably fit our family. We like to cook all our meals and the kitchen was well stocked. We had plenty of blankets and towels and loved all the games provided. Hard to beat the view as well. Our host was great and communication was seamless.

Nice place with easy access to Boone area

This property exceeded my expectations. There is plenty of space to isolate if you have a large group. The views are amazing and the community is very quiet. A little trot down the road is the access to the river for fishing or wading. All in all a great choice!

Comfortable and charming
Property is well maintained and clean. Neighborhood roads though narrow are newly paved, okay for walking dog or taking short walk to bridge area. Modern log cabin feel with lots of charming decorations. Plenty of room for the 4 of us to spread out, spaces were cozy. Decent view out the back, nice decking and patio/firepit space. Enjoyed the ping pong and foosball, plenty of games for all ages. Owner was very quick to respond and helpful. We would come back here.

Exactly what we were looking for and affordable
This cabin had everything we were looking for without being outrageously priced. The property was actually better than the pictures, everything worked, and the property manager was great with communication.

View + wood burning fireplace + hot tub
We had a great stay at Bearfoot Hideaway! We were looking for three things: a view (for my husband), a wood burning fireplace (for me), and a hot tub (for the kids). This house has all that and more. The house has clearly been carefully thought out and is stocked with everything you’d need. We stayed with our two kids (6 & 7) and our sweet pup. We took quick day trips for snow tubing at Hawksnest and hiking on Mt Jefferson. The hot tub was a wonderful to come back to. Trish made sure there was plenty of wood to keep a fire lit all weekend. Thank you for sharing your home!

Lots of Space and Nice Views
Overall everything was just as we expected… the parking was a little tight for 3 vehicles but it worked. Trish was great and accommodating regarding snow storm conditions
We had 5 adults 1 dog and 2 kids with plenty of space - we did Hawksnest snow tubing and we’re close to lots of other fun stuff- would definitely book again

Beautiful home, well equipped with everything you could need. The gated porches are especially great for dogs. My family had lots of fun in the spacious game room. Hot tub, fireplace, and firepit were also great features!

Our group had 4 adults, one 10-month-old baby, and a bernedoodle. The house was a perfect fit for our needs! Directions were very clear for "how things worked" and the owners communicated well with us about check-in./check-out procedures. The house was well stocked with dishware for cooking and great games for rainy evenings. Nice neighborhood for walking and 20 minutes to Boone!

Great place for 3 generations to vacation together - I am 73 & didn’t see in description that there is a full flight of outdoor stairs from street down to house - especially difficult when wet - being from flat land we couldn’t drive roads from Boone to house in snow & ice - location & view are beautiful - inside walls are not insulated so you hear everything that goes on in house especially snoring - well equipped kitchen but as stated bring extra soap, paper towels, toilet paper, laundry soap & dryer sheets - IF you want coffee your first morning you have to bring it - there was salt, pepper, pam spray & a few seasoning - we drove an extra long full size SUV & there was only room to park one other additional car (not another SUV) - house is basically clean but it could use a deep cleaning

We had an amazing stay! The pictures don't do justice to the view from the balcony. We spent every morning watching the sunrise over the mountain. The firepit was wonderful and we had smores multiple times. The game room was great and on the same floor as the room with two beds. The kids loved having their own space. The layout of the house is wonderful and allows for privacy. We had grandparents with us too and everyone felt like the had their own space but plenty of room to eat together and watch family movies and be together. It was enjoyed by everyone. Trish is an awesome host and answered all of our questions. This cabin was great, and felt like you had complete privacy but bonus, the roads were easy to navigate and stores/ the town was close. I highly recommend staying at this cabin.

The house was much bigger than we anticipated. Very nice beds in every room and most comfy sheets and blankets! The house is stocked with everything you need. Owners responded immediately to any concerns , which were tiny like coffee pot😂 the house is far from downtown in that you are in the mountains. I would recommend this home but not with small children if they need a yard to play in. We had a very nice week and so much to do. Don’t miss Lowe’s grocery store that has a bar in the store and cup holders to hold your drink while you shop!

Our family of 4 had just the get away we were all hoping for. The house is designed perfectly for families to enjoy time together playing pong pong or relaxing in the jacuzzi and also to have get away space to read, enjoy listening to the birds on the decks, and enjoy all the entertainment in the game room. This house stands out as especially comfortable and the owners have thought of everything to simplify a stay. The kitchen is very well stocked and everything is organized so intuitively throughout the house. The owner was a prompt, helpful, and welcoming communicator. We really enjoyed the location of the house as well and it’s a quarter mile walk to a bridge with picturesque views of the river. We hope to be back as it hit all the marks we look for in a mountain getaway.

Good spot
Nice cabin in the woods. Not a ton of privacy because other cabins are very close by. Walls were a little thinner than we expected so you can hear all movements in the house. That said, Trish is very responsive. It’s a very guest-oriented vrbo house. Lots of information about the area and things to do. Outdoor fire pit was our favorite place to be. Hot tub was great, big enough for the 4 of us who were there. Overall was a good place to stay.

GREAT getaway location
Large but cozy property with all the amenities required to both work and play. Trish was great to work with. Would definitely pick this cabin again.

Great week in the mountains!
We had a lovely week at this comfortable cabin. It provided a great balance of a mountain retreat with all of the conveniences like good internet, reliable power, comfortable spaces, well appointed kitchen, and beautiful views from the decks around the cabin. It was easy to get out to great hikes in the region.

4 generations for Thanksgiving and hiking.
Scrabble at night by the fire pit. Making smores. Hiking and then watching survivor while we rest. Oh yes, can't forget relaxing in the hot tub. Even my 17 (18 in a few days)year old grandson had a great time. We ranged from great granddaughter (age 2 1/2 , ) (her idea of hiking was picking up every rock she could stuff in her pants)(3)grandchildren, (ages 17 to 27) and friend, and my daughter ( their mother.) We may have started a new Thanksgiving tradition . It was a wonderful trip.

Cute house with lots of fun things to do, but ...
All in all we had fun in this cabin. It offered a lot of games and entertainment for all! There were a lot of little extra things the owner had done to make it fun so A+ on fun! However, unfortunately, they totally failed on having a clean and comfortable home. There was a large cobweb with lots of dust piled on top of the cobweb in the corner of my room. There were also cobwebs other places in the house and lots of dust on all the little decor items on the walls and ceiling. The carpet was so dirty and stained! The kids ran around in their socks for 10 minutes and had black socks from the dirt. Capet steam cleaners are very inexpensive, however our rental fees were not inexpensive. From that point on we had a shoes must be on in the house rule for the kids. We used the futon bed in the loft and the pillow cases for it were either dirty or had dark stains as if someone had slid them around on the dirty carpet with their feet. Luckily there were some extra pillow cases in the closets. We were very cold in the evening especially downstairs in the game room because they had a lock on the thermostat at 67 degrees. We are use to 70 degrees like we keep it in our house. It was very disappointing and very uncomfortable to be cold and live in a dirty/dusty house for 4 days after paying so much money for what I expected to be a clean and warm cabin. The cleaning crew certainly should of gotten the cobweb that was in the corner and reachable, only about 5’ off the ground. And the owners should be having carpets steam cleaned at least 1x if not 2x a year for the rental price that is charged. And having the thermostat locked at such a cold temp is ridiculous! I’m certain we paid enough rental fees to keep the house at 70 degrees for our stay.
