About this house rental
Relax with a cup of coffee on the enclosed sun porch and take in the views. From the expansive deck, look for eagles and osprey in the woods past the field; see herons in the farm pond; watch the boats beyond the cove; and relax as the tides come in and out. In the evening, enjoy wine and s'mores from comfortable Adirondack chairs around the fire pit. Look for fireflies in the field and shooting stars in the big skies overhead. Pleasant Beach is a short 5 minute walk down a small country lane. The beach is excellent for fishing, tide-pooling and looking for Indian beads. The cove is perfect launch for kayaking and exploring the coast. The kids can enjoy a small local park with play structures. Both Waterman Beach Rd and Pleasant Beach Rd are excellent for biking or taking a stroll. House comes equipped with a dishwasher, full oven range and refrigerator. There is a first floor bathroom with a stand-up shower stall, and a second floor bathroom with a tub. There are four bedrooms upstairs; 1 with a Queen size bed and 50” TV, 2 with double beds and 32” TVs, and one with twin bunk beds (kid appropriate).

We stayed here for almost two weeks in late June/early July. The location was great for our purposes (we come to the area each summer to see family who live just minutes away), and we enjoyed walks with our preschooler down to the little beach to hunt for sea glass. We also liked the large yard and beautiful newer deck for added enjoyment outside - the view is lovely. The house is an older farmhouse with some updates; we expected and enjoyed the more vintage touches. The upstairs can get hot, but the outside air did cool down at night and a box fan in the window at night made a huge difference. There were plenty of bath towels and beach towels for guest use, and we appreciated having access to the washer and dryer. The kitchen was well-equipped with plenty of counter space. Everything was clean enough that we felt comfortable staying there, but we did feel the house could use a good deep clean (some cobwebs, dusty baseboards, entry rug had sand all over it, etc.). The showerhead broke on our fourth day there, and the owner had someone replace the showerhead within hours of her receiving our messages. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Six family members needed a place for a long weekend while attending a memorial service in Rockland and visiting Tenants Harbor. This house was perfect with 4 bedrooms and lots of space on the first floor. Although bedrooms are quite small, the beds were very comfortable and linens and towels all great quality. The upstairs bathroom, with the bedrooms, has a tub but not a shower, so just one shower on the first floor means good planning with 6 people!! Kitchen is large and well stocked and we had a great time making our meals. Tight fit at the table since the only table is on the small porch and, unfortunately, we had a rainy weekend and could not enjoy the fabulous deck and outdoor dining space. Really beautiful property! Would stay again!

You will need an open mind and a willingness to be fair... This house has a lot of history and potential. I do think the owners have big plans for this property and are actively working on improvements. (A fabulous deck was added before we arrived.) That being said, to rent this property you must go in knowing it is a work in progress. We rented this based on the plan to be outside 98% of our time. (We were in town for the Lobster Festival.) We brought hammocks and quite enjoyed the view while relaxing at the house or walked down to the beach to explore or just sit and take in the scenery. The deck was used mostly in the second half of the day as the first half is full sun (perfect for sun lovers). The house is old as are the beds. I would assume those are high on the list of improvements? Do not plan on using the bunk bed- I will go so far as to call it unsafe. The bottom is a foam mattress with a visible dip in the middle and the top is a really old spring frame held in place by notches cut in the bunk bed frame. We purchased an air mattress upon seeing it. As I said, this house is old- there is a potent mildew scent that is unbearable in the basement where the washer & dryer are. This proved to be an issue for the 2 members of our family with asthma.
The house (and prior reviews claiming it was clean) were disappointing because honestly, potential is for investors not vacationers. A DEEP clean (our toddler was filthy after crawling across the kitchen upon our arrival) and new beds with fresh new linens will make a tremendous difference. The rooms are so small that minimal would be best with furnishings.
Definitely watch this property for updates as the scenery is wonderful.

The house overlooks a large field where we saw deer, turkeys, heron and free range chickens. Very comfortable bedrooms and a large, fully equipped kitchen. With lots of outside seating on the deck , under the trees and firepit our house became the gathering place for friends and family in the area. There is a short, 10 minute walk to the beach and it is gorgeous! Swimming, tide pools, kayaking, paddle boarding, we did it all! I

Family Retreat
Great location and setting. Modest accommodations, but OK. Good base camp for exploring Owl's Head, with proximity to Rockland. We appreciated the outdoor grill and firepit.

THE GOOD THE BAD & THE UGLY
Though the siting of this place bordered on the spectacular, with great expanse of green fields & trees, and views to a coastal inlet, the rather dated 50-ish interior with a well-worn floor and cabinets, and conveyed a "grungy" appearance, rather than a well-maintained place. We suffered through a an excessive and constant number of flies in the "dining" room and the kitchen, and some also in the bedrooms for the first 4-5 days; which was only solved by (either a relation or a contractor) having flycatcher-devices hanging in a half-dozen windows. The basement was awful, in disrepair and moldy smelling; but sporting brand new heavy-duty appliances. Nowhere was there an iron or ironing board for basic use. The bedrooms seemed to be freshly painted, but they all had older, worn bureaus, and with newer tv's in all of them. They were also hot at night, and needed large fans in every room for cooler air, making it fairly noisy for getting to sleep. The1st floor bathroom/shower off the kitchen seemed to have been a dining room, and was overly large, and not planned out well. The living room was spacious but not "cozy" because of its long shape. Another "sun room" was closed off and much in need of some finishing. The "dining" room was basically an entry porch, with an old oak table squeezed into one side, and barely enough room to seat only four people; making any family dining together impossible. The older electric stove had a problem with sparking on the oven coil, and it took a couple of days with no cooking for a new elec. stove to be delivered and installed; while the old one sat for two more days inside to be removed. The Power got lost one day for about 4 hours, from a nearby accident. The place was somewhat close to nearby restaurants (McCloons being a 5-star place). Basic needs required some travel to Rte1. Neighbors & relations were friendly and offered us to pick their raspberries. Nearby beach & coastline was very pleasant. The house handled seven guests, but it was a stretch; offset though by the downstairs family spaces. More updating should have been done before listing this house.

Autumn in Maine
I feel like the property was as described, which will be important for some people. It IS an older house which could be a turn-off for those looking for a chic, modern experience. However, it was perfect for what we wanted. It's relatively remote, has a beautiful view of the inlet which made staying in a pleasurable experience. We saw at least 3 bald eagles from the patio while we were there. The one caveat I would make is that the beds are only full size - my wife and I ended up taking separate bedrooms as we've grown accustomed to a king at home. The view and the fresh air alone made it worth it for us.

Beautiful view!
This was a great property. A little out of the way from town (which was fine with us) but the property and view of the sunrise over the cove in the morning was amazing. The house is old and the beds/linens could use some updating, bathrooms are laid out a bit odd but wasn’t a big deal. Fire pit was great and you can get firewood from several places. Lucia Beach was a magnificent spot in Birch Point State Park, Owls Head lighthouse was also a great spot.

Perfect Get Away
This property was just as expected and great for our family vacation and first trip to Maine! I can’t say enough about the view!!! You can tell they are continually upgrading things at the house. Beds were comfortable, house layout is great. Perfect little cottage. Much to do in the area! Would HIGHLY recommend!

Suited our needs well
This house was just what we needed to house 6 adults and two kids. The views are fantastic, the location is wonderful - close to beaches and a little playground - and the house was clean. While the interior of the house didn't initially "wow" us upon arrival, we quickly realized that the house was well-equipped with quality necessities and comforts. It was very clear that the owners have been working hard to renovate and improve this old cottage, starting with really important fixes and upgrades (like good hot water heater, new windows, newer appliances, fresh paint, and nice linens). While the home still boasts a few quirks that seem to be standard-issue for Maine cottages and camps, it is certainly livable and enjoyable. I'm glad the house has been made available for rent, even while it is still a work in progress!

Peaceful Maine Getaway
Our family had an absolutely wonderful time staying at the peaceful and quaint house in Maine. The location was perfect ...driving distance to the town of Rockland and walking distance to beautiful beaches. We would definitely rent this house again! Perfect amount of space, super clean, and a wonderful history.
