Our room, palmeras, was next to a mango tree that usually had Howler monkeys in. It was lovely to sit on the balcony and watch them eat all the mangos.
Lovely staff
1.5
beautiful views of the volcano and the lake from our room
polyester sheets (not very eco!), cold showers, room just too small to get around, uncomfortable chairs outside on the balcony (with a great view), indifferent staff, zero service, extra charges for a second cup of coffee with breakfast. the overall impression was quite mean, by which I mean stingy or ungenerous. very bumpy track to get there.
3.5
It is a very unique location which has been thoughtfully designed

Cute eco bamboo little house, quiet with beautiful view of Volcano Conception, very relaxing place.
A bit far from Balgue/up hill from the main road. Breakfast very simple. Overall, I found it a little too expensive for what this place offers.

Our cabin was absolutely amazing. The view and the entire cabin interior is beautiful. The bed was super comfy too. There is even a little speaker and yoga mats.
The breakfast was included, but we waited for more than 1 hour in the kitchen for a bowl of fruits with a little yoghurt which confused us. The food was good though.

Nice trees with pretty birds around
Inconvenient location, even with a scooter. The road leading up to the property is long and full of rocks, making it unsuitable for a scooter. Even going to the “small parking” was an ordeal. Then to get to the reception area is a lot longer than a “2 minute” hike over uneven rocks which were a tripping hazard. Blanket had a weird smell, but maybe appropriate as my cabin was called “Farmhouse”. For me, this stay was the opposite of luxury.

this place is absolutely awesome!!! breakfast is really good with local/homegrown ingredients, communal kitchen available, cute dogs on the property, you can watch wildlife from your terrace, staff is really nice

The experience is very unique and the view from the room is stunning. Despite the negative comments in the next section, we still appreciated our stay and recommend this property.
The property itself is gorgeous but we had a couple of situations that were slightly disappointing.
A misunderstanding/miscommunication between the property manager and myself led to me having to pay 50% of taxi transport fee from the port to the property, a transport that I never really confirmed wanting nor used because I ended up renting an ATV upon my arrival to the island. It’s truly not the best way to start your stay. In my opinion, the property manager must have waited for my confirmation prior to scheduling or confirming the taxi. I was told the taxi driver was waiting for me for about 2 hours when I never really confirmed my time of arrival in the first place. I had only given an ETA a few days before and said clearly that I’ll confirm the time at a later date. Although I did not think it was my fault, I proposed to pay 50% of the fee just to compensate the driver’s waiting time. I hope the money made it to him.
The towels that were given to us had multiple stains on them. One could disregard this detail when spending time in an ecological hotel on a tropical island but the for the price that we paid we expected to have stainless towels.
We ordered a “bananarama” smoothie from the kitchen during breakfast. It was 4 USD and it was not even cold. We were frustrated and thought it was overpriced for what it was especially considering that the banana is offered to the clients for free by the kitchen.
For one of the mornings, we literally had to wait 2 hours (no exaggeration) from the moment we confirmed our breakfast choice to the moment we received it. The kitchen staff was super kind but was simply overwhelmed with the number of guests waiting to be serviced and couldn’t operate as per usual.

This is a once in a lifetime experience to be sleeping in a tree house, overlooking a volcano. The houses are cute, super clean and nice, equipped with everything needed - stable wifi, water, electricity, etc
The team on site was super helpful with recommendations and making us feel very welcome. If you are in Ometepe, don't miss this place! Truly special.
While it's impossible to control the bugs in the nature, would be helpful to have a bit firmer net on the bed as we struggled a bit.
Breakfast was nice but didn't exceed our expectations
2.0
The View was nice and the general setting of the place with the vegetation was enjoyable.
The taxi with the 4x4 from Balgüe to the accomodation was 20USD for 1km, the most expensive ride in our trip.
The staff wasn't really welcoming. The breakfast wasn't Well organized, Coffee was Out quite soon, breakfast took about an hour until we got it. The kitchen seemed too small for the amount of guests of selvista/bambouseraie. The free fruit basket was disappointing, the selection was small. There was an additional extra 10% Fee for credit card payments which wasn't visible on booking.com. in the booklet of the room there was only a 6% fee described. There were bird excrements in our room and on our bags though the doors were always closed. A question about the extra fees hasn't been answered for 5-6 hours via WhatsApp during daytime. We didn't feel at home. The way to the Hut was difficult and muddy due to Rain, the distance to the breakfast is quite far. The service was just standard, the prices were inadequately high.

Absolutely fantastic, staff were lovely and very friendly, breakfast was great and had a different special every morning. The cabanas were very secluded and you really felt you were in the middle of jungle. We extended our stay and wished we could have stayed longer.
Nothing.
4.5
True jungle feeling with all the comfort. Staff really accommodating.
Breakfast almost had no fruit to offer in a country where fruit is abundant!
4.5
amazing facilities, very quiet lcation in tastefully designed and lovingly maintained cabañas. extremely nice and helpful staff
bit of a walk to get to, but definitely worth it
3.5
The room itself was great, we really enjoyed the
view, the kitchen, the breakfast and the facilities.
The staff is really nice 😊
also you have available fruits and coconuts in
all time :)
First, arriving to the hostel is a bit complicated,
we took a taxi which cost us 20$, from people
who stayed with us at the same time we
heard the hostel charged them 50$.
Also, in order to get out of the hostel you need
some kind of transportation, we rented a
motor bike for 20$ for a day, in the hostel they
charge you much much more.
two more things to take into consideration..
first - the lady who is the owner of the place is
really not nice (opposite from her staff)
she’s rude and treats you like she deserves
everything, which really ruins your experience.
and the last thing which might be the most
important one - my boyfriend got bitten from
bed bugs all over his body… 🕷🦟🐜
so make sure to check your bed before…

Beautiful permaculture farm, it was so nice to pick a variety of fruits and vegetables from the garden to eat!
Many bugs, but this comes with life in the jungle. bug nets or beds were helpful for this

If you want to get close to nature this place is heaven! The lodges are lovely, comfortable and clean. The owners and staff are so helpful and friendly. The breakfasts are really nutritious and you can have fresh fruit from the orchards! You get to hear the symphony of the howler monkeys, frogs and insects through the night which is magical.
You can also hike Maderas volcano from here (the guide can collect you right from the kitchen to start the hike!). We extended our stay because we didn't want to leave this lovely place (and lots of guests do the same!)

We loved this place. everything was perfect. staff was helpful and very nice. Beds were comfortable. Fruit basket was delicious. And you have the feeling that you are in a jungle between birds and monkeys. Congrats to Meg and Nemer who manage Selvatica!!
one only little tip: we would have loved to have a hamac not only underneath the house but on the balcony!

Rooms are very well made with a beatiful surrounding of trees, animals and view of the volcano. Perfect for a chill holiday.
10% fee charged on card payments. We didn't have this information written on our booking confirmation and there are no ATMs anywhere near the place. The information booklet in our room stated 6% fee, however on check out the staff insisted that it is 10% and charged as such. It got us confused and left us with a sour taste.

everything - the rooms were so cool felt like you were fully in the jungle. The communal space was lovely, the other guests were all so friendly, the breakfast was amazing!
We had no hot water in our house but it’s so hot you didn’t mind so much!

This is an amazing forest eco lodge that we couldn't but extend out stay few more nights, It is one of the best eco lodges we stayed in during our travels. The breakfast is amazing and the all day free fruit basket and coconuts are just an added bonus. It is clean, quite and peaceful. Loved that eco lodge as it is in the nicest part of the island, Balgue. The lady that runs the lodge also spend her days running and volunteering teaching locals English at the school on the property, Highly recommend this place, do not hesitate.

Beautiful environment
Cabins provided everything required in terms of comfort, cleanliness
Very friendly staff and great choice of breakfast
Unmade track to reach property but would not affect my choice to return

The hosts are lovely people, passionate about nature and their projects at la bambouseraie. The breakfasts were made on the spot and deliciously fresh, and the house we stayed in had the most beautiful view to enjoy in hammocks. Attention to details, fresh water, cleaning of the room every day... Nothing to say!

What an amazing oasis. This is definitely the place to stay in Ometepe. The community of Balgue is the best area where you find good food, good coffee/deserts, scooter rentals and close to everywhere in the island. The property is very well kept and located in a forest setting. Very quiet and peaceful. Great breakfast and a basket of fruits that you can help yourself to all day and Free. Highly recommend it.

The nature surrounding our room was excellent! We liked waking up in the middle of the jungle hearing all animals, wind blowing through our chalet.
Fruit and coconuts for free in the commune kitchen was nice surprise, even we had to ask how much it is, then we knew that it is for free.
Drinking water in a barrel is also great! Nice view of a volcano from our room :) The property is huge and quiet.
Nice options for a breakfast, delicious pancakes and omelette, just the juice was sweetend with too much sugar for no reason.
The floor in the chalet was still dirty and little bit sticky so we went to the bed always with the feeling of dirty feet.
There is no place where you can put your things, so when you come with a backpack, the only option for you is to put all your things on the not so clean floor.
The owner tries to earn money by adding always some sum on top of the price of something, which is not pleasant - we ask if she could help us to rent a motorbike, she said that she will ask for a price, that it would be 30usd per day but maybe less when we want it for more days and then she sent us a message, that the scooter is ready and for 90usd per day without our approoval of the price. We found a scooter by ourselves even for 15usd per day, so that was not nice, we would appreciate help not hard tourist business. Then you can have an overpriced bottle of wine, that we would normally buy for a price that would be similar as in the restaurant (330 cordobas) but here was one for 550 cordobas.
Tours offered are overpriced, you can do it by yourself much cheaper just for an entrance fee.
If you are trying to book a taxi to this place, try to talk to some people in the dock. Normal price from the dock to the hotel is approx. 25usd not 40usd :)
And finally, the staff during the breakfast was ignoring us, when we came to the breakfast girl (who looked bothered with making breakfasts), ready to order, she was still texting her phone for a while, not looking at us... after she finished texting, we were next in the line :D

The location, right in nature. The bed was great, the view was great. i liked it all!
it wasn’t very clear where to find the property and that it’s linked to Selvista. Also didn’t know the breakfast was included. So those kind of things can be improved.
4.0
it is in the middle of the jungle - stunning raw nature and the volcano view is amazing
well it is in the middle of raw nature so expect bugs and insects if all sorts
4.5
The free fresh food from the grounds. Being amongst the jungle
We thought the room was a little bigger from the images. And it’s a bit of a trek to get places

Breakfast was great, location perfect. Setting amazing.
4.5
The view!! It’s in the middle of nowhere but plenty of luxury. It was a very relaxing stay, and little things were well thought through like delivery menus and the link with the kitchen up the path. The dogs were also great fun, especially nice to receive a visit from Loki the g.shep!
It was a bit weird not being greeted at the beginning of the trip. We weren’t sure what to do once we arrived (and having walked 10mins up a hill with backpacks, it would have been nice for this to be smoother). Did finally get to meet the host, but not until the end of the trip which was a shame.

Super nice cabinas and good breakfast.
Be aware that it's in the middle of raw natur.

Very clean, very quite and really tranquile, really beautiful attitude.
