They were closed when I arrived and didn’t send me an email telling me that they would be closed when I arrived.

The place is clean and beds are comfortable. It's also really quite at night which allows for a good night sleep and some rest.
Well, there a few things that need to be improved. The kitchen is very very Basic, not much equipment and it does not have a fridge - you can use the owners fridge to leave your things but we noticed that it was occasionally turned off which is not ideal. Water would stop working several Times across the day, specially in the morning. It's a bit far away from the main road so you have to walk 20 minutes or more to reach it, so maybe it would be a good idea if they had a sort of deal or transport for who asks for it. Room was comfortable but would improve with a mosquito net considering we are surrounded by vegetation. They have a contact for motorbikes that we felt was overchanging compared to prices practised in Moyogalpa. Finally we didn't the price we paid was worth for what we got.

The location is remote in a banana plantation, but this is what adds to the charm. The family who own the hostel were lovely and rented us their bikes for the day. The accommodation is basic and this is reflected in the price. There is a nice outdoor area with rocking chairs and a good internet connection, which is perfect for remote workers.
Nothing - I would stay here again if I came back to Ometepe.

Location is amazing, in the middle of a banana plantation. Efrain and his family are super sweet and helpful, and you'll have a great and quiet stay. I had the best sleeping nights here as everything is completely silent from 8-9 pm onwards. They also offer tours and you can rent a scooter directly with them. Big rooms and comfortable beds, very very good price-value ratio!
The only improvement point is to be more critical about the volcano hikes with the guides they provide themselves. I did it with my sneakers and they said it should be fine but the way down (specially) is super slippery and it was an absolute nightmare to go back. Also I stayed at the room next to the kitchen and their house and the walls are paper-thin, better to stay in the rooms in the newer area made of bricks.

As a family we very much appreciated the price, the food offered, and the kitchen with filtered water. Nice seating areas outside too.
It was a long walk with our packs to the hostal. we were bitten quite a bit in the room even if we kept the door closed.

Quiet location. Nice to have a private room for the price I've been paying for a dorm. I arrived after dark, and left at sunrise, so I didn't really have time to take advantage of the hospitality. Enjoyed the gift of bananas.
Difficult to find, down a dark and bumpy road.

Amazingly kind family who went out of their way to help us. Beds were made and room cleaned after first night. Food was great. Really good value for such a cheap price.

Beautiful property in the middle of a banana plantation, Efraim was an incredible host always going above and beyond to help us out and took us on an incredible volcano hike. We loved every minute of our stay here

Staff/owners were extremely helpful, they went out of their way to make us comfortable, especially when offering to drop us to the bus stop on our last day. They also offered home cooked food which was tasty and good value! Room was lovely and clean and we were given free bananas on the mornings from the plantation.
Location wise it is not in a town, although we knew this is was further from any shops than we expect. No shops to buy water etc for 20 minutes walk down a muddy lane. It is budget accommodation so the toilet and shower was separated by a curtain only, and the window by the toilet had no blind so meant the room was very bright as soon as the sun came up.

Great place. Efraim will guide you up the volcano for half the price in moyogalpa.

Efrain and Guadalupe instantly made me feel welcome. He was on a tour that happened to go to the same bar I was at in town and immediately offered to find me free transport to the property (I declined to walk and see the area).
Guadalupe's food was excellent and extremely good value! The room was clean and they provided a towel to use.
They had unlimited time for their guests, organising someone to take us on a tour up the volcano then waking up at 5 to ensure we had breakfast before we went! Also provided me with a scooter for the lowest price on the island.
Would highly reccomend.
Only the shower but there is a beautiful beach nearby so you can jump in there and just rinse off after! Also I think it was only bad because another guest showered at the same time!
