About this house rental
Maine is called 'Vacationland'--Mt. Desert Island, home of Bar Harbor & Acadia National Park, is an incredibly beautiful place where people come to relax, to play and to appreciate all that nature has to offer. 'Spruce Lodge at Hadley Point' has been designed so that you and your family can stay in a wonderful and comfortable environment while you explore and experience all the beauty that surrounds you! Our charming 3-level home has a bright, open floor plan where the living room, dining area & kitchen share one big space on the main level. Just down the hall is a lovely bedroom, full bath and laundry room. Upstairs is a private loft with a balcony and large separate bedroom. Downstairs there is the family room with game table, beverage refrigerator and a really CUTE bedroom that we call 'The Rose Room' and another spacious full bath. Spruce green (of course) is our theme color & it accents 'miles' of natural pine, fun wallpapers & clean painted walls! The furniture, dishes, art & collectibles were chosen with the Maine Woods in mind!
Activities:: The beach at Hadley Point which is only a block away is a public area where you can launch a boat, have picnics, sunbathe, skip rocks and watch for seals and other wildlife. This is a favorite spot for the kayak rental companies to start and end their day trips-it's fun to watch them come and go- you might want to join them! You can swim, boat, hike and ride bikes on your own or go out on a whale-watching tour or sunset cruise on Frenchman's Bay. There are fantastic restaurants, great shopping and even mini golf courses nearby. There is an awesome 'Art Deco' movie theater called 'The Criterion' located in downtown Bar Harbor and two evenings a week there are band concerts on the Village Green. Several art shows are held during the summer and cruise ships come into the harbor weekly! Mt. Desert Island is truly an Unforgettable Place with something for Everyone!

Excellent, peaceful and quiet woodsy location very near to Hadley Point beach for sunsets, Bar Harbor, and Acadia National Park. The home was very well appointed and the Hosts thought of everything. You could see a bit of the water from the home. We enjoyed our stay.

The location and setting of Spruce Lodge are ideal, outside of but close to Bar Harbor and nestled in the woods just up the street from Hadley Point Beach. Our group consisted of 3 couples and the house was well equipped for this. We had to get creative with additional fans to cool off at night when it was hot and humid, but it worked out (there is one AC unit in the great room, not central air). The kitchen was well appointed and we made use of the outdoor gas grill as well. Of course, when there's so many great lobster places and we were out most of the day, we didn't use it to its potential. Some bath towels could use a deep clean or replacement due to mustiness, I understand that thorough drying is tough here at times. We also loved the huge deck area with a nice table for 6 with an umbrella, and Maine mosquitos are not nearly as bad as Minnesota biters in the evenings. I will put in a plug for Acadia Sea Kayaking Adventures which takes off from Hadley Point Beach, an easy walk down the street, so convenient and with a great guide. We did the sunset tour which was fabulous. Thanks to VRBO owner Lorie who was a great communicator and made us feel welcomed to Maine and Acadia. The extra info about the park and surroundings was helpful. Another plus for the house location is the Island Exporer shuttle (for Acadia National Park) has a pick up 0.2 miles from the house, so you don't have to take a car to ANP (but still allow lots of time for the shuttle service on busy days).

We just stayed at Spruce Lodge at Hadley Point. This home is awesome! Lorie is so easy to work with from beginning to end. The home is fully stocked with everything we could possibly need. We have rented a number of vacation homes over the years and this home was the cleanest by far. It's location allowed easy to all areas of the island and some of our favorites off the island. access

Spruce Lodge is definitely a home away from home. This was the cleanest, well stocked place we have ever stayed. Lorie, our host, was super nice and accommodating. This was our first trip to Maine. Lorie gave us tips, places to eat, and things to do before we left home for our trip. Bar Harbor is a beautiful place and Spruce Lodge did not disappoint!!! Highly recommend!! We would definitely stay there again. Thanks Lorie!!!!

Spruce Lodge was the perfect comfortable cottage to serve as a jumping off point for our many adventures across Mount Desert Island, Acadia, and Schoodic Peninsula for a week. My 13 yo and 10 yo loved having their own bedrooms. My husband and I liked having a kitchen to prepare breakfasts, some dinners, and picnic lunches for our hikes. The owner has provided so many thoughtful supplies, extra bath towels and beach towels, and many kitchen accessories, dishes, storage containers, and a grill. The property was very clean and comfortable for our stay. We enjoyed never having very far to drive to any destination, and also enjoyed not being in the thick of downtown Bar Harbor, but close enough when we wanted to go there.

Spruce Lodge is so well equipped, we lacked for nothing. We had easy access to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, shops and restaurants. Our host was very attentive and provided abundant information about the area. The house was immaculate and stocked with spices, staples, paper goods, and plasticware in addition to pots, pans and dishware. We loved staying here! Kayaks, e-bikes on carriage trails, windjammer cruises, and swimming are all close by.

Spruce lodge was in the perfect location for all things Bar Harbor and Acadia. Easy drives to park entrances. Short trip to Bar Harbor. Easy to get back to Trenton area as well.
House was spotless and hosts was easy to contact and quick to respond/assist. House was fully stocked with any and everything we needed.
We enjoyed meals on the deck and the kids were obsessed with Hadley point and all the mussels.
5 stars. 10/10!

Spruce Lodge made for a great stay for our family of four! The home was very comfortable and had several common areas to enjoy. Lorie provided everything you could need, including items like coolers, beach towels, extra pillows and blankets, and a well equipped kitchen. She also provided clear instructions and was easy to contact and gave thorough information. Thank you!

My BFF & I thoroughly enjoyed our stay near Acadia Nat’l Park. Lorie is a conscientious & helpful host. Her home is inviting, comfortable & very clean! Thanks for everything!

It’s a home away from home! Owner’s attention to detail is exquisite. Totally filled with amenities including white out for postcard mistakes. All beds are comfy as well as pillows and the quilts are just beautiful. The downstairs level is as comfortable a family room as I’ve seen along with bathroom and bedroom. Middle level boasts a wrap around porch with nice view of Hadley point. The loft bedroom is amazing. The only drawback to Acadia retreat is we wanted to just stay home and enjoy the comfy, cozy of this 5 star vacation home. We WILL be back.

Great house in the woods. Very clean and comfortable. Plenty of hot water. Location was good. Everything we needed was supplied, coffee filters, napkins, soap in bathrooms, etc we enjoyed it a lot.

Very serene. Sitting on the deck early in the morning drinking coffee, listening to the sounds of nature, birds chirping, acorns falling to the ground. Walking to the end of the drive at night looking up at all the stars. What PEACE! Location was just about perfect for the places we visited, we even drove to Roosevelt's Campobello in Canada. Cabin was clean, well furnished and Lorie furnished much good info on things to do or places to see.

The Spruce lodge on Abbey Lane feels like home. The Wiebrecht"s are very good hosts and have a beautiful property at a great location. We've made many trips to Mt. Desert Island, but the stay at Spruce lodge this time added an especially homey feel to our visit.

Didn’t see any whales. This was our 1 disappointment. House was great, location was great, plenty of places to eat the area’s seafood.

The only reason I have not given this home all 5’s is that we had some minor confusion on the day of check in. Other than this issue everything was perfect. We had 6 adults in our party and every couple had their own spaces to retreat to at the end of the day. Kitchen was fully stocked with all the little extras one needs to cook a meal. Bathroom were fully stocked. If I could give more than 5 stars for cleanliness I would. Location was close to both Acadia and Bar Harbor.

The owner was great to work with and very professional. The house was exactly as stated and immaculate. Having separate floors with bedrooms and sitting areas was great. Surrounding area was peaceful and very easy to get to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park from this location.

Great property. Well kept. Cozy. Good location for access to everything you would want to do around Acadia National park, Bar Harbor, etc. Everything was within driving distance to maximize sightseeing opportunities. Lorie was great to work with and answered our questions quickly. The house and property were as described and as expected. Couldn't have asked for a better time.

We highly recommend this rental property if going to Acadia/Bar Harbor! It is cozy, clean, quiet, and conveniently located to Acadia (about 7 minutes) Park Loop Road and Bar Harbor (about 13 minutes). If cooking is important as it was to us, the kitchen is well equipped to meet your needs. Lorie was wonderful and very quick to respond and communication was thorough and easy. She was very attentive to our needs both before and during our stay.

We had a wonderful week exploring Acadia, Bar Harbor, and Southwest Harbor. This property was close to everything, but not right in the middle of the busyness (which we appreciated it). EVERYTHING that we needed was provided, we were pleasantly surprised to find so many amenities. Lorie was wonderful to work with, and provided us with so much information about the area. Thank you Lorie!

We loved Spruce Lodge! Really comfy, very cozy and clean, nicely furnished and decorated, plenty of room for our family of 5 (mom, dad and three grown kids). Loved breakfasts and dinners on the deck in the woods; playing games in the open concept living area; cooking together in the small-but-efficient kitchen. Having the lower level rec room was great for those who wanted to watch some tv while others read upstairs. And the location was terrific! Just a 5 minute walk from the Island Explorer bus stop, which allowed us to explore Acadia with someone else driving and no hassles about parking! Short walk in a different direction down to Hadley Point, a great spot for watching the sunset (but bring bug spray!), or just climbing rocks along the shore. Spruce Lodge was the perfect home base for us as we explored MDI and Acadia!

We had a great time. The house was exactly as described on the site and very clean/comfortable. The host was very helpful and responsive. The location was great: central location to everything we wanted to do on the island and secluded in the woods just a short walk to a great beach for sunset. We’d highly recommend it.

Perfect Setting for our Maine Family Vacation
Spruce Lodge was the perfect home base for our family (myself, my husband, and two teenagers) to explore Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, and surrounding area. We loved the quiet, woodsy setting and the convenience of being just a short drive from everything we wanted to do and near an Island Explorer bus stop. The property clean, homey, comfortable, and with lots of amenities (beach towels, kitchen items, etc.) that made our stay easier. Plenty of room for teenagers to have their own space and my husband and I loved sitting out on the deck drinking coffee in the mornings. Lorie is a great host - she offered great info about things do do in the area and responded to any questions we had promptly. We loved Spruce Lodge and would definitely stay there again!!

Great stay at Spruce Lodge
Great house in a great location! Close to Acadia and Bar Harbor, yet far enough away to get away from it all. Watching the sunset on Hadley Point beach is a great way to end the day. The house is very clean and well equipped. The owner was attentive and a pleasure work with.
