About this apartment rental
Our walk-up 3rd Floor, 4 bedroom 3 Bath apartment is located in downtown Bar Harbor, minutes walk to bakery, restaurants, shops, bike rental, grocery and natural foods store. We are one block from historic West Street featuring some of the Bar Harbors oldest and largest seaside "cottages" as well as the famous tidal sand bar, which allows tidal access to Acadia's Bar Island. Our apartment is located on the third floor of an historic turn-of-the-century building that was originally the Bar Harbor Toy Company, which manufactured wooden toys from raw lumber. The apartment is over 3000 square feet with hardwood and carpet floors, a master king suite with its own full bath and trundle bed for those with kids. There are three other smaller bedrooms (one king, one queen, and a full size futon bed) sharing two full baths, a fully appointed kitchen with stainless appliances, breakfast bar and dining room seating for 8. The apartment has window and floor model air conditioning and off-street parking. We are also adjacent to the Island Explorer bus route, a free island wide bus service operated by Acadia National Park, June 23rd through Columbus Day.

Great place to stay in town, walk to everything in Bar Harbor, short drive to Acadia. We had a hot weather week, an air conditioner in the 4th bedroom would have been nice. But would stay again.

This property checks all the boxes! Close to everything, lots of space, communicative ownership, clean, and all the amenities! Reasonably priced for all that you get!

Really enjoyed our stay. Excellent location, can walk to everything in Bar Harbor. Nice grocery store just 2 blocks away. Lovely bakery downstairs. Rental was spacious and very comfortable. Had all we need for cooking and enjoying a rainy day of football and game night. Would definitely stay here again!

This perfectly located apartment served as our home base for 4 days in Acadia. Such a quick drive to the park and loved that in the evenings we could park and leave the car as everything in Bar Harbor was within walking distance.
The place was clean and had everything we needed. And the bedding was extremely comfortable.
The bakery downstairs is adorable and served our coffee needs beautifully!

Wow, we loved being so close to everything in Bar Harbor! And having a wonderful bakery downstairs was such a plus! This was a great apartment with plenty of room for all of my friends. My only complaint is the quality of the futon mattress in the fourth bedroom. We opted to double up and not use the 4th bedroom at all. A better bed or mattress would solve that issue easily!

Park your vehicle once and leave it! Excellent location, walking distance to everything in Bar Harbor. The host/owner was very accessible, both while we were still at home making plans and upon our arrival. We arrived in a 24' camper and host helped us park it in his off-road lot, along with our 2nd vehicle. We knew we'd be on the 3rd floor, so were able to plan accordingly. Independent bakery downstairs made for nice aroma each morning. No noise from street. Accomodations were spacious and welcoming, plenty of room to spread out. TV with streaming services, and excellent WiFi. Three generatons of us (six people), and each found a good place to set up. Plenty of open space as well as private areas.
We appreciated the new washer and dryer, and owner even provided detergent. Household linens were adequate, but we found only one beach towel. Fully equipped kitchen, but with all the excellent restaurants within walking distance, maybe next time we'll look for a place with only enough of a kitchen to prepare breakfast and snacks. But if your group intends to prepare full meals, this rental on Cottage Ave is an ideal place to come and create happy memories.

The first impression of the space is that of a stunning, open span filled with natural light and loads of storage. As the group of 9 of us stayed through seven days it proved to be wonderful in many ways including the ability to spread out, recede to private and quiet rooms, a well stocked kitchen of pots, pans, knives amd utensils , children appropriate cups, adult drinkware, ample mugs and plates, good tasting water and ice from the fridge, and the most silent dishwasher we’ve ever used. This was a perfect kitchen for a family who loves to cook and drink a lot of coffee.
As a group with an 8 year old and a 4 year old (and an infant), the overflow playroom was a marvelous and creatively used space with loads of light and comfy beanbags to chill out and read books. The carpeting kept the noise down and created a cozy space for the kids to be on the ground.
The sheets in all the rooms were luxuriously soft atop comforable beds and topped with cloudlike duvets.
There was also ample provisions of towels and facecloths to accompany a seemingly limitless supply of hot water in all three bathrooms.
Well liked by the group was also the abilty to use the washer and dryer alowing us to return home with a suitcase of clean clothes.

The stay was good. The rental isn’t for anyone with mobility issues. It’s on the third floor.
It’s cooled by small windows air conditioners. It does get warm during the day but we were comfortable. But you have the constant sound of the AC’s running.
Bakery on first floor was great. Noodle shop was always busy with people. We didn’t try it.
It was a great trip and the VRBO is great for big families.

Our group of 8 had an amazing time in Bar Harbor this year! Property was very spacious and clean, plenty of space for sleeping and hanging out. Location is fantastic - easy <5min walk to get toiletries and supplies from Hannaford, breakfast from Jordan's, and dinner from LeBrun. Double-deep parking space can accommodate 2 cars - note that the road behind the lot is narrow, be careful when backing out. Host was very prompt in communication and in addressing appliance issues. Would love to stay again!

The place was spacious, clean, and in a great location in town

This was our first trip since CoVid, so I was looking for something a bit out of the ordinary, and this property fit the bill. The property was perfectly located with easy access to Acadia, shops, restaurants, and groceries. Aside from that, it was very clean, nicely decorated, and had lots of room to spread out. We didn't have young children with us, but if we did, they would have loved the puzzles and games as well as the nooks and crannies.
Tips:
-The binder the property owner left was amazing. We used many of the recommendations and never felt disappointed. If you are new to the area, read it before doing anything.
-Cell service and WiFi are very spotty in the area. I suggest taking screen shots of important information (like the apartment's door code) before arriving. Don't rely on your WiFi or cellular.
-There are a lot of towels and wash clothes in the apartment. Check out the shelves across from the washer and dryer if you need extra.
-Like others have said, you do have to walk up several steps to get to the apartment. If you are traveling with a person who has limited mobility, you should skip this property.

This house was perfect for a weekend in Bar Harbor. We could walk to shops and restaurants. We had two parking spaces always available. Great bakery downstairs.

The condo was bigger than expected. The location was perfect. We could walk to all the places in Bar Harbor we wanted. The place was clean, but you enter the building and are greeted by 2 garbage cans. Gave me a bad first impression. It has 3 bathrooms, which is great, but 1 could use some tlc. The kitchen is nice and roomy. The stairs leading up were fine, but after a day of hiking, we found them challenging.
Really was a perfect location and clean. I would stay again.

We had a very good stay - the apartment was comfortable and clean. The location in Bar Harbor is hard to beat for walk-ability and the breakfast cafe right below was very convenient.
Important tip - all the bedrooms have skylights with no coverings so the rooms get bright very early. Bring eye masks if you need dark to sleep.

Great location within easy walk of the heart of Bar Harbor and easy road access to Acadia and other nearby destinations. Convenient to groceries, but also bakeries and restaurants. Enough space for an extended family of 9 (ages 15-80) to not feel cramped. We loved our time here!

Wonderful vacation rental
We had a wonderful vacation in Bar Harbor! The property exceeded our expectations - it was spacious enough for a group of 7 adults, the location was right in town and a quick drive to Acadia, and Thomas and Jodi provided great restaurant recommendations! We highly recommend this rental.

Great lodging in convenient location
Nicely updated lodging in a super convenient location was perfect for a girls trip in mid-October. Apartment was the perfect place to relax and hang out after long busy days. It has just about everything you need including full sized washer and dryer (with laundry detergent), but be sure to bring your own shampoo and soap. Drawbacks are the unit is on the third story of the building, and definitely not handicap accessible (stairs only), beds a bit lumpy, and paint in bathrooms starting to bubble/peel. Pluses are location is great - above a coffee shop/bakery and right next door to 2 Cats, and a couple blocks from the grocery store, easily walkable to downtown Bar Harbor, and about a 15-20 minute drive to the National Park. Clean, safe, with plenty of space for everyone and good water pressure in the showers, we would definitely stay here again! Added bonus of the delicious baking smells coming up from the bakery below,. Next time, we would come a couple weeks earlier, since many of the shops and restaurants had already closed for the season,

We didn't want to leave!
We had so many highlights during our 2 week visit to Maine and staying here was one of them. It truly felt like home and we didn't want to leave!
When we arrived we were a little concerned because the building is under construction and it was a little confusing parking in back with the workers and then walking around the front with people working. Note: we heard very little construction noise during our entire stay. With that said, we understand that this is temporary and that eventually the entire building will be beautiful.
The unit is even better than the photos. It is SPACIOUS and we had more than enough room to spread out and also be together. We loved the kitchiness of the layout. The kitchen was gorgeous and the bakery downstairs was an amazing extra. Is it a negative that you could smell baking at all hours of the day and night? The beds were SUPER comfortable!
We were in and out of the unit at all hours of the day and night. Sunrise on Cadillac Mountain. Full moon watching in Acadia, 5am breakfast down the street, late night cocktails in town ... and we always felt safe. Having the grocery story 1 block away was fantastic! Being within 4 blocks to town, a few miles to Acadia and having so many hikes so close by was fantastic. We loved the little binder with all of the "stay like a local" tips. We changed our plans to take advantage and we were not disappointed. My only suggestion.... perhaps a cheat sheet on how to use the TV's. We were unfamiliar with how to get the bedroom tv to work, but it really was not a big deal and not missed. Having a washer and dryer was great. Thank you for a wonderful stay and truly making us feel at home in Bar Harbor!

Great location. Clean kid friendly.
The rental is overall amazing.
Positives: the place is big, clean, and in a great location. Parking around back is nice and under surveillance. (if several bags, try to find street parking out front when unloading). I love the sky light windows. The place just has a great feel. Great little pastry shop downstairs and popular breakfast spot a few doors down that does take out. The pizza place across the street has a great beer selection and serves growlers. Grocery store a short walk away. Really just a great all around option.
The apartment is a couple of flights of stairs. We got $100 worth of lobsters from rose eden (amazing) and brought them back. Unfortunately there weren't lobster crackers in the apartment. (There is a lobster pot).
It was unusually hot during our stay. The air-conditioning unit in master worked intermittently, and when working, the water had to be emptied every 4 hours. (The unit in the family area worked great). We would have just opened a window, but there is a friendly racoon that lives on the roof and would easily craw through the screenless window, and probably claw through the screens.
Everything in bar harbor was closing relatively early. The people downstairs would cook later at night, and it smelled amazing. Would permeate throughout the upstairs unit.
For our family, it was a ten out of ten.

Great family retreat
Our large family of 8 enjoyed our mini vacation. We packed a lot into 4 days and it was the perfect location for it. Lots of space, clean and had everything we needed. This was our first trip to bar harbor so I am sure my terminology is wrong but the water front area was a 5 minute walk, the park was a 5 minute drive, the grocery was 2 blocks away, coffee and food were literally outside the door. Got my bike fixed across the street. There was nothing left to want. Had a great time. Highly recommend. I did read that the stairs to the 3rd floor were a bit much but after hiking to the top of Cadillac mountain twice and 50 miles of biking in 4 days, the stairs were a non-issue. Arcadia is beautiful and this apartment is a great place to hang out and rest. My 15 and 12 year old boys were hugging by the end of this amazing trip. Thanks so much!

Perfect Place
I recently stayed here with my husband and four sons (ages 10-15). From the moment we walked in and smelled just how clean this place was, we loved it. My 15 year old who hates everything because he’s 15 said he wished we could live there. The place is huge, bigger than the listing depicts. My kids enjoyed hanging out in the area outside their bedrooms playing board games. There was so much attention to detail from the owners such as information about the area, providing us with everything we needed from beach towels to cleaning supplies for small spills. The beds were so comfortable. There was further renovation going on in the building while we stayed but we never heard a thing and the workers were very kind to make sure access to our parking was not blocked by their work vehicles. Each morning we enjoyed treats at the bakery downstairs and each evening was an easy walk to and from shops and restaurants in Bar Harbor. Would definitely rent here again!
