Relaxing stay while we toured Bar Harbor and Acadia. We're planning to return and spend more time in the future so we can explore the amazing lake right out the back door!

We had a wonderful time. The house was a nice retreat after sightseeing all day. A big kitchen for cooking and a big living room to seat us all while we talked, laughed and reminisced. The outside of the house is just as inviting with the gazebo, campfire ring and lake. And the loons!

Gorgeous views. Kayaking. Beautiful walks. Checking off bucket list for me and my late husband: Eating lobster in Maine in September (yummy). Groundhogs, turkey, ducks, chipmunk, deer and the magnificent loons. Thank you so much. It was exactly the retreat I needed.

This house is great for anyone looking to get away but still be close enough to a town. It is super quiet, no neighbor noise with only the sounds of the loons. Has a great layout for multi aged families. The WiFi is DSL and a bit slow if you are a remote worker but the McDonalds down the street has great WiFi. The house is clean and orderly with lots of outdoor space to play. This property has more of a cabin/camp feel, rustic and simple.

The lake view from this house is amazing. Got beautiful fall pictures and enjoyed an evening with a campfire with my son! Great location for exactly what we needed to be close to his school and visit local places. House is comfortable and well stocked.

Great property with great view of the lake! Abundant wildlife in the yard!

Being from the south, we were somewhat concerned we arrived and there was no AC unit in the residence. We soon found out that fans were all we needed to stay plenty cool. Furnishings are comfortable as are the beds. The fire pit and kayaks/canoe were an added bonus. Very convenient for touring Acadia and Bangor.
We had a blast and can't say enough nice things.

A very quiet lake with a nice yard to relax in.

This roomy home is situated on the lake, with a gently sloping access to the water. The lake itself is so clean and clear, perfect for swimming and kayaking. We saw deer, ducks, a baby snapping turtle, and a pair of loons. My grandson enjoyed imitating the loons’s call, and he received a few responses back! We also caught sight of a bald eagle roosting on an island on the lake. This lake has many small islands, some with homes on them, and quiet, pebbly coves to explore. Acadia was within an hours drive, and we hiked and explored Bar Harbor. I feel we only scratched the surface of what there is to explore! We had a wonderful week, and hope to return soon.

Better than we anticipated from the on-line listing. Well kept and well supplied.

We were very happy with this property. It was conveniently located and the owners were very accommodating. We enjoyed kayaking on the lake and watching the eagles and loons nearby. We would certainly rent again in the future!

We had a wonderful time and loved the location of the property on the lake. Everything you need is supplied and the use of the BBQ grill, kayaks & canoe added that extra bonus. We cooked on the grill and fished from the canoe multiple times during our short stay. There may have been closer properties to Acadia but not many that compare. We will rent again when we are back in Maine.

A nice quite place with kayaks for enjoying the beautiful lake and plenty of space for everyone to relax.

Fantastic location on the water. The apple tree provided a daily feeding area for the deer. House is well equipped with plenty of space.

Nice spot for multi age family gathering. About 1 hour from Acadia. Low key. Quiet. Residential.

My family and my SIL's family enjoyed a peaceful week on Alamoosook Lake. The owners are so friendly and helpful. The property was clean and very comfortable. Tip - bring your Roku or Fire stick for streaming. The lake is great for canoeing, paddle boarding, and swimming. We could hear loons calling, which is always lovely. Nearby Bucksport has a cute bookstore, yummy ice cream, and the Penobscot Narrows bridge observatory and Fort Knox which are both very cool to check out. I would definitely recommend for a quiet getaway.

Beautiful property on a beautiful lake. All 7 of us had a great time on the lake and just relaxing. Not far from Acadia National park where we explored a couple of days.

Beautiful location on an incredible lake. Lots of wildlife. Quiet. Restful. The photos here do not capture the beauty of the home and the lake. A great headquarters for exploring Acadia NP and Downeast Maine. Pam was also extremely helpful and responsive to us. Will come back again!

Pam was super helpful and nice to us! We stayed for two nights and had an awesome time. The boats were a great way to get to the middle of the lake so we could go swimming and overall great time. If we’re in the area looking for a place we would definitely come back.

It's all about the location. Well stocked and large house. No cable or AC, but WiFi (recommend bring your Roku). The owners are very nice and friendly and responsive (they gave me some of their homemade maple syrup, yum!) other amenities include canoes and kayaks, firepit and grill. Overall a great place with one caveat: water is from the lake, and is filtered, but can be often cloudy...so squeamish may consider bottled to drink.

It was very close to the venue of our son's wedding.
The home was clean and we'll maintained. The home owner was very accommodating to our slightly early check-in. The foliage view from this lake front home we're spectacular.

My family had a great time staying at this lake house. It was large, comfortable and well appointed. The hosts were friendly and helpful. (They even sent us the clothing that my Nephew left behind). We all highly recommend it,

I live in the area and was looking for a camp to rent for a family and friends get together. Speaking as a local I can say that the rates are great for the location and camp/house. The owners were so nice. The camp/house is on a beautiful piece of property and is set up in a way that our get together was a hit with young and old. There is plenty of room inside and out. Thank you for a great stay!

This beautiful home is perfectly located for anyone who is looking for the best of what Maine has to offer. Not only is it well maintained, spotless and complete with "all the comforts of home", it is situated on one of Maine's most beautiful lakes. If you like swimming, hiking, paddling (canoe or kayak), or just sitting with a cup of coffee listening to the birds, you could not choose better accomodations.
Wildlife abounds in this pristine setting. Not only were we lucky enough to have a visit from a bald eagle, we were serenaded each evening by several loons.
Our favorite place to visit in Maine is Acadia National Park. There is so much to do on Mount Desert Island, and it's just 40 minutes away from this wonderful home...well, it's 40 minutes if you don't stop at some of the antique shops along the way.
Of course, no visit to Maine would be complete with out fresh lobster. For that we made a visit to Carrier's Lobster Pound. (Yum!) Not only were the lobsters delicious, the owner and his family were awesome!
If you're like us and you can't take the Maine winter, enjoy a Maine summer!
Thanks, Pam and Brian, for sharing your beautiful home with our family!

I grew up in Maine and I have now lived in Colorado for 20 years. My family and I rented this cabin in July 2009 and had the best Maine vacation we could have imagined. The location on Alamoosook Lake (the lake I grew up on) is a picture perfect setting with great swimming, great views, and lots of enjoyment fireside each evening. The accomodations are excellent, plenty of comfortable beds, a nice deck overlooking the lake, fun times on the kayaks and the canoe, and a large area to visit around the campfire. The full kitchen and multiple bathrooms are also excellent. The proximity to Bucksport, Bar Harbor (Acadia National Park), and other "down-east" fun is unparalleled, and the camp is not very far off the main road of Route 1. This is THE PLACE to rent if you are considering touring the area, while at the same time looking for some excellent "down time" for relaxation and quiet. The loon calls in the evening are as soothing as the tiny ripples of water lapping up against the waterfront each night. The owners keep this place in great condition and are easy to work with. Take it from a native Mainah' - you will enjoy this property for a great Maine getaway!
