About this apartment rental
We must have strolled past it a thousand times but little did we appreciate what lay behind its doors…
Nestling in secret behind the garden wall of the 15th century Gothic Palazzo Trevisan Degli Ulivi directly on the ‘passeggiata’-popular Zattere canal-side promenade in Dorsoduro, we’re delighted to welcome pretty Ca’ Dell’ Ulivo.
Named in keeping with the Palazzo and enjoying a much sought -after south-facing courtyard garden all of its own, the apartment is on the ground floor and allows four guests to luxuriate in air-conditioned** luxury within what we think is a true jewel box of a property.
Surprisingly secluded yet prominently located near the Church of ‘I Gesuati’ in one of Venice’s most coveted and upmarket residential neighbourhoods, Ca’ Dell’ Ulivo is entered by way of an anonymous arched double doorway leading directly from the Zattere into its dainty secret garden - a paved and furnished haven set away from the madding crowd, where an ancient stone ‘vera da pozzo’ well-head rests in retirement amongst raised borders of newly-planted flowers and established small trees… heavenly.
Recently refurbished not as a simple rental apartment but first and foremost for the personal pleasure and occasional enjoyment of its charming owner, the accommodation is adorable and comprises an open plan main living area with two sets of glazed French doors opening onto the garden and bringing ‘the outside in’ during the summer and fine weather.
Elegant, cosy and cosseting at the same time and framed by a ceiling of white painted beams, polished ‘marmorino’ walls and the most gorgeous Tuscan floor tiling we’ve seen for quite some time, the room features a sprinkling of fine period pieces, original paintings, an immaculate all-white and well-equipped kitchen with an integrated dining table for four, and a luxuriously appointed sitting area with beautifully upholstered club chairs and sofa.
Wi-Fi and a utility room are there for you too, while sitting peacefully to the rear is an attractive double bedroom with perfectly co-ordinated furnishings and a double bed which can be made into twins - please let us know your preference when booking.
Separated from the living area by a multi-paned window which can be curtained off for added privacy, the bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with shower, Egyptian stone fittings and velvety sage green polished plaster walls, while just to the side of the living area sits the super-sweet master bedroom with built-in double bed, twin upholstered chairs, a splendid en-suite bathroom with bathtub and shower over, and wall-sized glazed French doors opening onto the garden and mirroring Ca’ Dell’ Ulivo’s main entrance* beyond.
* Ca’ Dell’ Ulivo’s main entrance (the grey arched double doorway) leading from its courtyard garden onto the Zattere promenade and Giudecca Canal is pictured open in the photographs to give an idea of the position, aspect and view outside the apartment but please note that this doorway is normally kept locked by guests for security.

OUR COMMENT
Bed down in the beauty of dreamy Dorsoduro… an exquisite and enchanting slice of Venice to yourself.
One step away from stunning canal views across to the island of Giudecca, and within minutes of the Accademia Bridge/Accademia Galleries and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection on Venice’s Grand Canal.
A short stroll to the Church of the Salute and to the Punta Della Dogana Museum of Contemporary Art at Dorsoduro’s Eastern tip, and close to a great choice of eating places and bars along, and close to, the Zattere, including the well-known gelataria ‘Da Nico’; ‘Osteria Al Squero’ and ‘Cantinone Gia Schiavi - Al Bottegon’ (perfect venues for a spritz and ‘cicheti’); ‘Lineadombra’ and ‘Ristorante Riviera’ for an evening of fine dining, or for something simpler, ‘Ae Oke’ with its mind-boggling array of eat-in or takeaway pizza (perhaps stopping at ‘El Chioschetto’ on the way!).
An easy walk to the Conad supermarket at the western end of the Zattere and, for Venice-lovers, within moments (via a short covered alleyway or ‘sottoportego’) of the sleepy calle near Campo Sant’ Agnese where, in a scene from the classic 1955 David Lean film ‘Summertime’, Katharine Hepburn and her street urchin companion laughingly cool themselves down in the waters of the neighbourhood fountain.
Very close (and with no bridges to cross) to two vaporetto (water bus) stops for travel around the city - ‘Zattere’ just beyond the apartment entrance and ‘Accademia’ to the north - and to the Alilaguna boat stop connecting the Zattere to Venice's Marco Polo Airport.

The apartment is beautifully appointed for our family of four. It has everything we needed to make the most out of our stay in Venice. The location on the Dorsoduro is ideal, far enough from San Marco to escape the crowds but well-connected to great neighborhoods and transportation. It is the perfect apartment for us and we look forward to returning!

The position is fantastic, very close to the bus boat and walkable distance to a lot of interesting spots

We stayed with friends at Ca’ Dell’Ulivo in October 2023, and rejoiced in the bonus of the garden setting for breakfast and other meals, along with the brilliant location, on Zattere.
The Vaporetto stop was so convenient. No steps or bridges to make luggage difficult to manoeuvre. Two supermarkets in easy reach for provisioning. An excellent package.
A couple of quirky features, adding character to the apartment but all clearly shown in the description or photos.
Views on Venice organisation was again reliable and efficient, as it has been on multiple visits in past years.

A super 10 days. I’m loath to leave a good review as then it will get booked up. I’ve stayed in Dorsoduro before and wonderful to be back again. This location was excellent. The house incredibly quiet and peaceful. More importantly everything worked, it was very clean and miles better than a hotel for the equivalent price. Also very close to two excellent Conad supermarkets.

We couldn't have been more pleased with this beautiful apartment right on the Zattere. It was perfect for our family! As always, Views on Venice was so helpful in making arrangements for water taxis, answering questions, etc. Thank you for helping us to make such wonderful memories!

The check in process was excellent and provided complete information. Our bed was comfortable and the bathroom was fine. We cooked in one night and spent time in the courtyard which was a super place. We moved the table in front of the gate and opened it wide to watch the activity on the canal and the passersby. They all looked in with envy and one woman smacked her husband and said “why aren’t we staying in a place like this?” There were a couple small issues but they were resolved very quickly and efficiently. Venice was awesome and this place made it perfect. I’d highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Venice.

Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The apartment was just as described & pictured, and was well equipped with everything you may need. The location worked well for us - being close to restaurants & sights, while not being in an over-crowded area. We also received friendly and prompt response on any questions we had leading up to and during our stay. Highly recommend.

Our group of four - a couple and two friends— loved being here for three days/nights in this beautiful apartment right on the Zattere. The location was perfect for us, a short walk to the Accademia bridge and St Marks as well as being right in Dorsoduro. Everything is just as pictured both inside and out. The Views on Venice team couldn’t be nicer - very responsive and helpful, including helping to arrange a fantastic personal boat tour, a restaurant reservation and airport transport. We’d love to stay here again!

perfect apartment in Venice
This is an ideal apartment for our family of four. The location is great, within a close walk of all the major sites but in a beautiful neighborhood that is not overrun by tourists. There is easy access to great local bakeries and restaurants. The kitchen is well-equipped, the bathrooms and bedrooms are appointed with nice linens, and the whole apartment was exceptionally clean. And, after long days wandering in the hot and humid city, it is so nice to come home to an apartment with excellent air conditioning. We highly recommend and would be happy to stay there again!

Most convenient ground floor apartment with small garden overlooking the Giudecca canal
We love the location, this was our second visit to this apartment. The Zattere vaporetto stop is within 100 metres. The Grand Canal is only a few minutes walk We enjoyed sitting on the loungers in the front garden with one of the entrance gates open, and watching the Giudecca canal and the people passing. Views on Venice are always excellent, and they meet you and show you to the apartment, unlike another letting agency.
Apartment improved since our last visit 3 years ago. More power sockets, water resistant front door, I think new air con controls. I would have liked a microwave oven to heat breakfast food. The curtains in the main bedroom don’t open and shut properly (a problem with the tracks, same problem 3 years ago). My wife didn’t like a reddish stain on the stone floor between the main bedroom and the bathroom, she said it looked like blood, but it didn’t bother me.

Perfectly Charming
Great stay and location. It was perfect for our family of four. Super clean, beautiful artwork throughout and the private courtyard was a lovely place for morning coffee or dinner in.

A little gem of a place
For us the location was just perfect: Very quiet, but always some people around, so the perfect balance for us. Also perfect for restaurants, and the Conrad stores when we wanted to eat in. We will use this apartment again!

Gateway to Zattere ....
We enjoyed our three-week stay at Ca' Dell' Ulivo! The apartment is beautiful and comfortable. The courtyard is private and lovely where we spent time relaxing, having a spritz or meals. The location is perfect with a great view of Giudecca. Close to our favorite restaurants, market, museums, and vaporetto stops. The staff was very helpful - thank you Cristina, Daniella, and Marta. We hope to return soon!
The cushions on the couch compressed into the frame, making it uncomfortable. The living area chairs are small and low, so not very functional.

On a prolongé notre séjour.... Dur de quitter Venise....encore plus dans de telles conditions!

Superb accommodation
A very well appointed apartment, beautifully furnished, in an excellent location. One of our party was a wheelchair user, and she had no difficulties either in the apartment,in getting from the apartment to any part of Venice. I would particularly like to thank the staff of Views on Venice for being so helpful and approachable both in the run up to our visit and during our stay.
The only negative issue was that the shower curtain in the bathroom of the twin bedded room did not fit terribly well, and tended to allow water onto the bathroom floor.

Right at Zattere
Two bedroom and bathroom ground floor apartment right at Zattere. Large living room and open kitchen with a small, lovely garden. Everything is there and it was just right for our short stay in Venice.
Nothing, it is what it is and just fine

Perfect in every way!
Great location, well appointed home, wonderful private garden. Close to everything yet felt very secluded and private. Great beds and showers too. I highly recommend this home.
