About this house rental
Island Time is a luxurious 3,600 sq. ft. oceanfront home, located on a picturesque island, accessed by causeway, in the Spruce Head area of St. George, Maine. The property faces South East and overlooks Seal Harbor, numerous islands, twinkling lighthouses, Mussel Ridge Chanel, and the Atlantic Ocean. There are 4 bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, a gourmet kitchen, a wood-burning fireplace and woodstove, and an endless swimming pool.
The master bedroom with a King and en-suite bath is located on the ground floor, and opens up immediately onto the outdoor deck. Just steps more, and you are on the shore.
Upstairs are 3 additional bedrooms including a Queen with en- suite bath, and a 2-room family suite comprising 1 King and 2 Queens respectively with a shared bath. Please note that access to the King is via the double Queen bedroom.
The property enjoys deep water frontage with a private pier and dock, and a small sandy beach with inviting rock pools, smooth granite ledge, all changing with the tide hour by hour. Keen swimmers will love the brisk water temps and mostly gentle waters as will boaters and kayakers.
150 feet from the property is a private beach for island residents only, which makes for an additional excellent play area for small children and a very easy launching area for kayaking. There is endless opportunity for exploration amongst the bountiful islands, many of which are uninhabited with beautiful sandy beaches.
Island Avenue is a 2 -mile loop around the island, which makes for excellent walking, biking or jogging.
Island Time is supremely well located on the St. George Peninsula, one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in Maine. It is a mecca for the artist community with its island air, light and landscape. It is also home to an authentic Maine fishing community with lobster boats and lobsters everywhere at only a fraction of the cost elsewhere. All this and less than 15 minutes drive from Owls Head regional airport which has direct flights from Boston and a good rental car fleet. Portland Jetport is under 2 hours.

Island Time is like a movie set: high ceilings, full sized windows looking out on the islands and ocean, gourmet kitchen. Rackliff Island is stunningly beautiful and quiet, even though it’s only 15 minutes to Rockland and 25 minutes to Camden. We would never choose to stay a anywhere else in Mid-Coast Maine.
