About this house rental
This is a perfect vacation home for one or two families. Beautifully decorated and spacious, this two story home with lots of windows offers an abundance of natural light. It sits on a corner lot on upper Claressa with a private side patio off the dining area. There's a spacious great room with a living room area and a dining area with a large table plus bar height counter with stools facing the open kitchen. The three bedrooms with Cal King beds have their own private baths. The front upstairs master bedroom features an ocean view from the balcony. All bedroom floors were given new carpeting in January 2017. The remainder of the home's floors are tile. 1900 sq ft. This home has one full bath, three 3/4 baths, one 1/2 bath Screens installed July 2012. 357CL | This vacation home rents on a nightly basis (2 night minimum, holidays and selected dates excepted; 3 night minimum mid-June through Labor Day).

It was best friends getting away and the home was a perfect bonding experience. The setup was exactly what we needed from the giant living room with large dining table and accessible kitchen. The host left plenty of amenities for us and made it a seamless process to enjoy a vacation

Our family has stayed here numerous times over the years. We’ve always been very happy with our stay, but we did notice a few things this time that needed updating.
The dishwasher doesn’t wash very well. I guess it never had done so very well, but this time it was enough to have to wash everything even after the dishes went thru the dishwasher.
The dryer stopped tumbling when we were there.
The downstairs 1/2 bath toilet would sing a siren-squealing sound after every flush. Luckily, it was only used during the day and nobody had to wake up to that in the middle of the night.
The grill lighter did not work, so we had to find matches and ultimately bought a grill lighter to light the grill, because it was very hard to light the grill with matches.
The worst of it all was the heater! The top floor would heat up, but not the downstairs. Seeing that all the upstairs vents to the rooms were already closed, we figured we’re not the only one who had this problem. So to heat up to downstairs, we had to set the thermostat up and open the bathroom windows in the upstairs bedroom to sleep in comfort. The fireplace downstairs helped, but not enough. We still had to have family bring a portable heater to the island to use for the downstairs bedroom.
There were no kitchen towels. We had to buy paper towels to use for the duration of our stay.
The good update was that hand soaps were provided & they’ve always provided plenty of dishes! Always great for multi-generation families!

Only one small critique was that the patio was dirty. This was something I noticed from past reviewers so I think it would have been corrected.

The house was a great fit for our party of 10 adults. It was easy to locate and get to. Quick walk to Vons. We would be happy to stay again.

This property was perfect for a family get away. We love Catalina and were able to sleep 8 adults comfortably. Has big living area and built-in BBQ, which we used. Overall great spot for a larger group 8 to 10.

We stayed here with a group of 10 of parents kids and grandparents. The layout of the house was great with 3 master suite style bedrooms it made it easy for the parents and grandparents to split the rooms up and the bunk beds and twins were great for the kids. The kitchen and driving room are spacious with plenty of room for everyone.
The property is showing some wear and tear,, the gate for the patio is broken, one half of the outside gas grill as well as the outside refrigerator we’re broken etc. but overall the property was a great space for a big family vacation

The layout of the home was exceptional for our style vacation. Most of our time was spent in the main living area adjacent to the outdoor patio area, which combines well. Our only complaint would be that the patio area had not been cleaned from recent storms and the bar-b-que that we used twice was in poor condition. Part of our decision to stay at this property was the proximity of the outdoor and indoor space. We also like cooking together and found the kitchen well equipped but missing a few things that would support a large group. Overall stay was fantastic and look forward to another stay at this property.

10 of us were there and had plenty of room. We were able to sit together at the dining table and in the living room! Unfortunately they don't decorate for Christmas so we brought our own and made it look beautiful. We cooked our own breakfast each morning, dishes were good enough however the oven doesn't close all the way so I pushed the door in so it can reach the temperature needed. I think the fridge didn't close all the way either because the light was on after closing. Everything else was fine and we would go again.

The house was big, rooms and bathrooms were perfect for our large group and everyone was comfortable! Some things we weren’t happy with was the patio was very dirty and did not look like it had been cleaned in a long time, there was even old dog poop under a chair. We were told box fans had been placed in every bedroom closet which was not the case. The 2 box fans provided were filthy and had dust caked onto them and another fan provided did not work. Communication was great up until I let the management property know about the status of the fans and asked for more and or new fans….never heard back! The house is on a very busy corner so it was loud at times, we even had people run by and bang on the windows a couple of times. The extra fans in the rooms would probably have helped drowned out the noise. The kitchen was nicely stocked with any utensils and dishes we needed.

This property is cute, spacious (we had 8 ppl very comfortably), away from the craziness of the boardwalk but close enough to walk. There is quite a bit of car and walking traffic here being on the corner of two busier streets. Plenty of space for cooking, lounging, and communing for meals. Our main complaint is that the house wasn’t cleaned very well - crumbs and mildew in the kitchen and bathrooms. The house could use a deep clean.

We had a wonderful time staying at 357 Clarissa. The home was clean and check-in/check-out was very easy. The large kitchen, dining area, and living room were great for gathering with our larger group. We enjoyed walking from the house to the Botanical Gardens and the quick walk to downtown and all the other attractions of Avalon.

Enjoyed the property and would return. Carpets need to be cleaned. I was told that 3 of the 5 bedrooms were on the ground level floor. Turned out that only 1 was down and 4 was up.

The house was clean, very nice and spacious enough room for all of us to be together, and is a nice walking distance to almost everything. Can’t wait to return!

It was the perfect size for 4 couples and a kid. Walking distance to so much, and a well stocked kitchen for dining in. Carpets in the bedrooms are heavily stained, bed linen and couch covers old and dingy... If this place was remodeled, you can't tell from the interior design. The TVs took a bit to figure out but between the 9 of us we figured it out. Didn't put a damper on the weekend, however. It was just nice to be together in one space, instead of staying in different hotel rooms. Don't regret it. Just wished the owners would step it up several notches, for the money we paid.

The bones of the house were great. That’s where the niceties ended. The furniture and bed coverings were old and filthy. We called to have the slip covers washed and they came , took them and covered the couches with sheets but never brought back the covers. Would have washed the bedding but the washer was “Out of Service “
A very small investment in some pillows and comforters would go along way. Hiring a cleaning service that did more than change sheets and leave towels would be an improvement. For the price we paid we expected clean and comfortable.

Great place
Overall it was a great house and the amenities were good. There was an issue with the shower in the downstairs bathroom, and we couldn't use it. However, it was reported to the management company and hopefully gets taken care of.

Great for a large group!
This was a great option for a group of lady golfers. Very close to everything, with lots of room for all. The large dining table was perfect for games and the puzzles in the house were a great addition. The kitchen was very well equipped and never felt crowded, no matter how many people were preparing meals. We would suggest installing blinds on the west windows on the main floor, as it got pretty hot in the house in the afternoons, and no AC to cool it down. Also, only half of one of the BBQ burners would light, so we couldn't really use that. It was great all the light switches were marked; that really made using lights much easier. The road on the side of the patio was quite noisy; lots of traffic on that side, but nice there are no houses across the street, so felt more private. The management company (CIVR) stated check in time was 3:00; however, the cleaning folks were still finishing up when we arrived; they did not leave until about 3:30. Also, since we paid a cleaning fee, we should not have been required to ensure the dishwasher was done and trash was taken out before we checked out. Several hours after we checked out, although we dropped the keys off at the rental office, they called us asking when we were going to check out. They seamed a little disorganized from start to finish. We are giving an overall rating of 4; the house gets 5 stars but CIVR only gets 3. We would definitely stay in this house again.

Happy with our stay
The house was a perfect size and accommodated our group of 8 friends and 2 kids perfectly for my husband's birthday. The house was a bit warm during the day, as there was no A/C but other than that it was comfortable and as expected.
The check in/out process was also much easier than expected.

Great place to stay with a larger group
We loved staying here with our family. Lots of space to sit together and even cook on the BBQ/patio. Convenient walk to everything. And enough bathrooms for everyone!

Absolutely wonderful!
The house was perfect for our party. Clean, spacious and well appointed. Close enough to downtown to feel connected to everything while being far enough away that you could enjoy a peaceful island holiday if you so choose. The location is also super close to golf and hiking paths. We will definitely be staying here again. Loved it.

Very lovely home, spacious, clean, big dining table, the little grocery store Vons was perfect very friendly and not to far from this home, we were very pleased we will definitely want to stay in this home again hopefully in the near future.

Very nice property. Well maintained.
House was clean and well equipped and up to date. Fit our family well. Situated close to most things. A golf cart would be nice for the senior family members or a better explanation of city transportation availabilities.

Great house, great location!
The house was roomy and had everything we needed for accommodations and cooking for our group. The street has a liot of golf cart traffic. The house is an easy walk from the dock and a couple of blocks away from Vons.

Great house! Spacious, clean, updated and roomy. A bit of traffic noise at night but tolerable. Location is great as it’s walkimg distance but not too close to be bothered by front street noise. The dining table was great, really great size for a big group. Would definitely come back for another stay.
Also the puzzles were an awesome surprise.

Spacious, Bright, and Welcoming!
Our family had been anticipating this trip to Catalina since last fall and were thrilled with this home. We each had our own bedroom and appreciated that there were so many bathrooms! The kitchen was spacious and made our meal prep easy. And the long dining table! It fit all 10 of us comfortably. The side patio with grill and wet bar were a definite bonus. We would absolutely rent this home again on our next Catalina adventure! Thank you!

Great place for multi family vacation!
The house was perfect for us, we were 4 couples and 2 kids. There was plenty of room and the big table was perfect for family meals. It was a short walk to the beach and grocery stores. Plenty of kitchen supplies for cooking in and an outdoor grill. Only complaint was that the sheets in one of the rooms weren’t clean so we had to do a load of laundry when we arrived.

Easily accessible to all activities
House easily accommodated 6 adults and 4 children. Good grilling and dining space. My only complaint was that since the House was on a corner, at night there was a lot of noise from the cars and golf carts.

Such a great layout and nice location!
I invited friends and family to join us for a fun weekend at Catalina Island and it was a blast! We were lucky to check in early (right when we arrived) and the process was exceptionally easy. The walk to the house was not bad either, as it is literally down the street from the beach and shops at Avalon. The house itself was huge and slept ten people extremely comfortably. The biggest plus for my friends and family was that there were many bathrooms!
The only downer was that the kitchen/living room area floor was filthy. I walked with bare feet on it and in seconds my feet were black. Thankfully, they had a Swiffer, vacuum, and dust pan readily available for any messes beyond that.
The house was perfect for having many family and friends over, and overall an A+ choice. We are incredibly grateful to have stayed there and look forward to going back to the island!
