About this farm stay rental
Over the last ten years we have been delighted to serve families especially with our large space 15 acres, access to nature trails in the woods, and animals including horses, dogs, chickens, ducks and bunnies. We live on the property up on a hill and we rent a four bedroom family farmhouse overlooking Bolinas Lagoon. To describe the experience of being here our guests say it best. "Our trip was close to perfection," Louisa. "My family and I had an epic trip," Mukund. "The hosts went the extra mile," Rosha. "We were celebrating my parents 50th and had a wonderful stay at this magical house," Adrian. "We were two families with kids from 2-12 and there was something for everyone," Rebecca. " It was both energizing and relaxing to be in such nature beauty," Lori "The property itself was like having your own estate," Mike. And finally a review that made us truly proud, "You will discover kindness and a quiet retreat at this magical place. Get ready to unwind," Gabriella.
Our property is almost completely private and we love to teach the children of our guests how to feed the animals if they so desire. The property includes a cottage in the woods, pastures with horses, a chicken coop with chickens and bunnies and ducks. There is ample room to explore right on the grounds. The home is well used, comfortable and ideal for families with children. There are two bedrooms with Queen beds and a back bedroom with bunk beds, a single twin bed and a crib. There is a fourth small bedroom downstairs with a full bed. There are two bathrooms--one with shower and bath connected to the master bedroom, the other between the two upstairs bedrooms with just a shower. All first floor rooms connect to the outside. One of our most favorite reviews begins with, "This property reflects an appreciation of childhood." Indeed we create magic with the open spaces, swings, an exquisite playhouse in the woods, and of course animals . No cats but we are mostly okay with dogs but like to talk specifically with future guests as there are certain rules and expectations to follow to make a visit successful for here for your dog. Due to the special nature and privacy of the property and surrounding hills the place has also been used for retreats, and other special occasions. We no longer do weddings but we love special extended family events birthdays, anniversaries, reunions and sharing other special moments. At the same time we are concerned about water usage and hope our guests understand this reality. As with all decisions this is a discussion.
The special cottage in the woods is where children can play creatively and independently---inspired by the concept in the book The Last Child in the Woods, that documents the universal need for intimate connection to nature and for independent fantasy play for children. The cottage is surrounded by trails leading to an open meadow of five acres. There is also a suspension bridge! Young children can access the coop to collect eggs with parental supervision. Many children including our grandchildren spend hours in the chicken coop. We also show guests how to safely feed carrots to the horses.
There are views of surrounding hills and the Bolinas Lagoon and access to nearby trails in open space and parkland. One mile from the town of Bolinas which has two miles of beachfront and locally caught fish in season, abundant organic produce and organic meats. The property is also just three miles from the Audubon Canyon Ranch where one can watch seals and all kinds of bird life on Bolinas Lagoon; and 10 miles from Point Reyes Park HQ with its extensive trails, beaches and wildlife.

Guests raved about the stunning grounds and warm hospitality. The property is perfect for families, with beautiful animals and spacious accommodations. A truly magical and unique experience!

We were 6 adults and one child, and every one of us had a good time. The house inside is a well cared for home with lovely art on the walls, tons of books and comfortable furniture. We were all able to sit around the table and eat dinners together, taking it in turns to cook in the very well equipped kitchen.
The grounds are open with some beautiful views and good sitting spots. The horses sometimes appeared right up to the house which was a real treat.
Since I love gardening I was super impressed with the gourgeous flower beds around the house.
This was the first time we chose a holiday a little away from the beach, but agree that it worked really well to drive a few minutes to get to Bolinas or Stinson Beaches. If somebody didn't feel like going to the beach they could be comfortable and find plenty to do staying at the property. I highly recommend this for a family stay.

We had an amazing stay. The grounds are spectacular, the house warm and inviting. The owners were responsive and very kind. We hope to return!

Great stay at this beautiful property in Bolinas. Great way to connect with the outdoors and natural setting, and get away from all things high tech. Owners are very pleasant and helpful. Dishwasher was out of order which we had not known in advance but that was fine. Overall, beautiful property and peaceful stay.

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect location for our vacation. The property is beautiful, quiet and vast. The animals (chickens, ducks, a bunny and horses) were fun to feed and hang out with. Linda and Stockton were perfect hosts- answering our questions and spending some time visiting while still respecting our family time. They’re an intelligent, accomplished and interesting couple! The rooms were very comfortable and we had everything we needed. A very recommended stay!

My kids are typically tough to get off screens but they self selected to swing, ride, run, and play because this property is so amazing.
Linda was so nice and thoughtful about our stay. We only left to visit the beach and town of Bolinas which is ALSO JUST AMAZING.
Can’t wait to come here again!

We had a lovely stay with our family, including adult sons and their partners and dogs. Linda was the most friendly and delightful host, we felt very welcome. We marveled at the beautiful setting and views and enjoyed meals outdoors and indoors, it was quite spacious and very comfortable. And we loved meeting the chickens, ducks, golden retrievers and horses! We could not have been happier!

Wow - what a special place! Everyone loved it so much. Linda was so lovely to work with. We hope to be back very soon!

Never stayed anywhere like this. Was dream-like and magical! Every angle you looked outdoors was beautiful. Only recommendation would be to tend to the mundane - like providing coffee, olive oil in the pantry and update the towels. But would return! Just better prepared.

This is paradise. We loved every second of it and having the animals there was our children's’ dream. The hosts are wonderful and our stay could not have been better. This home is most special.

This is the most magical, amazing place we have ever stayed. Surrounded by extraordinary views, the property is spectacular. The house is breathtaking, the flowers, animals and rolling hills (and the tiny children's house hidden in the woods) are like something out of a dream or a movie. Thank you to our hosts for their hospitality and care. This stay for my Birthday felt like an opportunity in a lifetime to stay in your truly exquisite home.

Wonderful setting and close enough to Bolinas for a meal out. Lovely.

What a unique rental where one can explore such a large property, Linda's flower gardens, and be around so many beautiful animals! The swings overlooking the lagoon were amazing. Waking up to their beautiful horses grazing outside was simply magical. And fresh eggs from the chickens! A treat for both children and adults. Unlike any other place we're ever stayed. Bolinas is charming and this property was extra special.

Thoroughly enjoyed our time soaking up the natural beauty surrounding the property. Whether it was taking in the view form the couch while having a cozy fire or basking in the sun on the patio, the swings or in the fields. The house is easy and especially comfortable for family groups. The land and animals were a great source of delight and learning for our young daughter. And Linda and Sterling could not be more warm and gracious hosts. Our family can't wait to return!

Wonderful views, 10 minutes to the ocean and tidal pools. Very friendly hosts and animals. Everyone had a wonderful time, especially the kids. Lots of hands-on adventures. Thank you, Linda and Stockton!

We arrived at Linda’s farm at night after a “thrilling” drive through a mountainside area near San Francisco, so we didn’t realize how spectacular the setting was until the next morning. The next morning, we woke to a sight that’s indescribable and explored all that surrounded us-dogs, horses and the fantastic Sweet Pea Cottage, an elaborate cottage especially wonderful for kids ( our 6 year old granddaughter served us lunch while dressed up in one of the “dress up costumes” in the cottage) utilizing antique cooking supplies. Linda takes a great deal of pride in her fantastic 10 acres understandably and was a gracious host to our multigenerational family group. The house was well stocked and we appreciated having plenty of dishes and basics for all 7 of us.
Linda, the owner and her partner, Stockton, were nearby and helpful when needed; she was so gracious and enthusiastically showed our 6 year old granddaughter how to feed the 3 horses and entrusted her with feeding them. She also explained how to feed the chickens, retrieve the fresh eggs that we enjoyed every morning and demonstrated feeding and handling the 2 rabbits.
There are various swings all over the property that provided breathtaking and relaxing spots for all ages as did the views, and the gardens that were lovely even in chilly February.
This description can only give you a taste of the setting -you have to visit this extraordinary place to truly appreciate it.
Each of us-from our 6 year old to the 77 year old -is hoping to make this an annual destination!

Our family of 5 was in the area for a wknd to visit old dear friends who live in Bolinas. We had plans to be with our friends away from Linda and Stockton's wonderful (truly wonder filled) property, but in the end all of us wanted to spend more time on site with our young children exploring and playing and relaxing. The farm animals. The rolling bucolic grounds. The warm hospitality and kindness of our hosts. The lagoon and ridgeline views. The gardens, tree swings, meadows, forest, pasture... And even a fully custom furnished kids scaled cottage in the woods with a nearby suspension bridge spanning over a bog! It is a truly lovely and magical spot. The rental is comfortable and well appointed to boot. We are eager to return.

We had three generations gathering together and all had a wonderful time. The first piece that stands out is the view of Bolinas Lagoon while also looking down the meadow of the property. Then we were greeted by both Linda and Stockton, who introduced the animals and left us to wander the amazing setting.
Our group consisted of me, my husband, our son, his wife and their 16-month old granddaughter. As we were unpacking a large herd/flock/cluck of hens and a large rooster came walking though the yard. Our granddaughter was delighted. Then came the three dogs, who lavished attention on our toddler until she was belly laughing with delight.
And then we walked to the barn and fed carrots to the three horses! One brown and two white (gorgeous Arabians, as we learned). Our granddaughter's eyes bugged out as the horses nuzzled her, searching for those elusive carrots.
Other days were spent walking every inch of the farm and meadows. We discovered the children's cabin hidden in the woods (a little too old for out toddler, but it would be absolutely enchanting for kids as young as three and as old as ten or more). The cabin has hidden storage chambers full of goodies, stuffed animals, games and NO ADULTS allowed inside (sort of). It was obviously a labor of love.
The house we stayed in had three bedrooms and ample room for a family to gather for games or just to curl up and read in the evening. A good takeout restaurant was less than two miles away in "downtown" Bolinas, but our own kitchen was more than adequate to cook a dinner when the mood moved us.. And our hosts checked in to make sure everything was to our satisfaction.
We highly recommend the farm at 480 Horse Hill Road!

We absolutely loved our stay! There was so much beautiful open space to explore and relax in. Our boys are young, curious and active, and this farm was a dream to them! Linda and Stockton were kind enough to show us all around and teach us about the bunnies, chickens, ducks, horses and dogs! The house has lots of character and open space. We hope to be back before too long!

Could not have been better! This place is magical and we are already looking at dates foe a return visit. The hosts are amazing, gracious and thoughtful. The property is truly stunning. I can’t say enough good about this one-of-a-kind property.

Photos do not do justice to be beauty of the house and surroundings. We suspected our 2 1/2 year old would love the animals, but everyone else was thrilled with everything.

Our family had a wonderful long weekend at Linda's Bolinas "ranch". Our kids (2 & 5) couldn't get enough of the hillside swing, chicken coop, and play cottage. The lagoon and meadow views from the patio are out of a magazine, and location was ideal - rural yet quick drive to town. We're looking forward to coming back!

We spent the most amazing four days at Linda's farmhouse. We were looking for a getaway to celebrate our family finally able to see each other for the first time in a year and we thought this would be a great location for our son to explore and the grandparents to relax. It did not disappoint.
It was the perfect place for kids both big and small to enjoy. There are swings set up all over the property, which we all loved, and the views, especially from the patio, are absolutely stunning. There are so many thoughtful touches throughout the house. There were plenty of kitchen utensils and serving ware so we could cook meals. There were books to curl up on the couch with and enjoy, CDs to pop in for ambiance, and the two tricycles waiting for my son to play with on the patio really made his day. We felt completely at home.
Even though Linda wasn't there during our stay, she was available via text to answer questions, and Lori was there to help teach our son how to feed the animals, and check for eggs. He was skittish at first, but by the second day, he really warmed up to the animals, wanting to check on them daily. Finding fresh eggs for breakfast each morning was an absolute thrill. In addition to the chickens, bunnies, and horses, we also had fun spotting herons, ravens, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, and even deer on the property.
And then there was the little Sweet Pea Cottage, tucked back at the bottom of the property. The craftsmanship in the house was truly impressive. Our son spent hours every day exploring all toys and secret compartments the cottage had to offer. He was able to just let his imagination run wild, and it was such a joy to watch him play.
It was a great location for easy trips to Stinson Beach, Point Reyes, and Muir woods, but honestly, we just enjoyed spending our time relaxing on the property. Thank you for sharing your home with us, and giving us a much-needed, relaxing place to escape to!

Linda and Stockton's home was pure magic. The house itself was cozy and bright, with everything we needed for our stay. And the setting of their lovely farm made it a joy to be outdoors as much as we wanted. All the animals (of which there are many!) were so friendly and so much fun for our children to get to know. Linda was kind enough to teach our young children how to feed the chickens, ducks, rabbits, and horses, and gave them plenty of autonomy so they felt like they were a part of the farm. Not to mention the magical Sweet Pea cottage and many special trees and swings to explore. Our time here was so special—what a treat it was to be able to stay in such a wonderful place!

I stayed for several days with my parents and two daughters (ages 8 and 12), and all of us had a wonderful stay! My girls loved the tree swings scattered throughout the property, the cottage, the various stuffed animals and toys, and, of course, the animals! Both girls delighted in the chickens, bunnies, ducks, horses, and Golden Retrievers. It's rare to find a vacation destination that truly embraces children, and we felt so fortunate to have found this gem. My parents and I enjoyed the stunning location -- the array of flowers, trees, expansive lawn, the view of the lagoon, and the sounds of nature. (And, in addition to all of the above...the mattress I slept on was so comfortable! I'm normally a bit disappointed with mattresses when I travel, but I enjoyed this one better than my own!) Linda and Stockton were so welcoming and kind, and showed my girls how to check for eggs, feed the horses, and even how to pick up a chicken -- which my 8-year-old is still talking about with great delight. We hope to return to this beautiful retreat.

This property is truly one of kind and Linda and Stockton go out of their way to make you feel welcome on their stunning land. We enjoyed a stay we won’t soon forget.

The green space is glorious, providing swings, running space, trails and the squeals of the kids finding the cottage was precious. We relaxed as a family and loved the animals. The owners are thoughtful and provide as much opportunity as you want to engage with the animals. Our daughters had hours of unrestricted play, and we slowed down to enjoy playing chess and reading. The fire places were amazing and it’s location is perfect. We did see the tide pools, but really you don’t need to go anywhere else. It’s enough. We can’t wait to go back in the spring if we can find the dates that align. Our six year old cried when we had to leave. She’s so timid of dogs, but at the end she cried to miss all the animals. For Christmas she asked for a golden retriever dog toy so she can remember. It’s a special place that reminds us why we love being a family.

This peaceful and charming home was the perfect getaway for our family. We adored interacting with the animals - chickens, ducks, rabbits, horses and especially the dogs - on the property. The house is private and open. Linda and Stockton where gracious hosts. We had all we needed for our visit. We are looking forward to returning soon.

Linda's flourishing family estate is a dream come true! I was so excited when our booking was accepted because my partner and I want build a family compound of our own, and we received so much inspiration from our weekend stay at Linda and Stockton's home where we did a personal writing and meditation retreat. The property is even more beautiful in person than in the photos, as the main house is surrounded by vibrant gardens which attract constant hummingbirds, and the sweet pea cottage for children is across an expansive open field and hidden amongst the trails of the forest. Linda brought over fresh eggs from the chickens every morning and we loved learning about the animals and watching them roam freely across the property. We'd love to come back soon when we organize another retreat or have children who can enjoy the expansive serenity of the space.

This place is really special. With the grand old oak tree framing a view of the Bolinas lagoon, this is a gorgeous mini-farm setting. The house is comfortable and well appointed. Wonderful for our family of 4, plus a friend or two. Hot tub is a fun addition. Swings all over the property, hidden treasures to find in the woods, plus ANIMALS! Horses, chickens, ducks, and friendly pups. Minutes in car to Bolinas and Stinson Beach. The hosts are absolutely lovely. We had a fantastic stay.

A wonderful home and property! We've used this home several times to house participants attending programs at a local non-profit. Without exception, every year our participants were treated like guests. Linda personally welcomed them to the house and property. Everyone loved their three night stay. Highly recommended every year!

Our family - three adult couples and a toddler - had an absolutely wonderful stay at this property over the Christmas holidays. With much of the group coming from abroad, we were looking to rent a house in California that would facilitate spending quality time together over the holidays.
This house exceeded our expectations. The highlight is the setting -- it's on a hilltop with a beautiful view of a lagoon and surrounded by rolling fields, a few minutes drive from a charming small town and beach. Our toddler LOVED the chicken coop at the bottom of the yard, feeding the horses, and exploring the small children's cottage in the woods as well as the paths and bridge to get there. Right outside the kitchen doors is a patio and, coming from the city, our son was really thrilled to be able to go outside by himself anytime he wanted to play with the Batman big wheel that lives there. (And our dog was thrilled to hang out with the two very friendly resident golden retrievers). The adults loved all this plus the various swings hanging off tree branches scattered around the field.
The set-up of the house worked really well for three adult couples and a child, giving the adults some separation of space from each other but with one bedroom nicely adjacent to a bedroom wonderfully set-up for children. With a crib, bunk beds, toy buckets and stuffed animals, it was that rare surprise - to find ourselves in a house even better setup for children than our own. And the kitchen was very well equipped for cooking serious meals.
The owners were warm, welcoming, helpful and thoughtful - a real pleasure to interact with. We were absolutely touched at the gift they handmade for our son (a play on his name), as well as the stocking stuffers they gave us for the stockings hanging off the fireplace in the children's cottage. And the gorgeous, tall Christmas tree they volunteered to set-up.
We are all hoping to find a future occasion to return and meanwhile, strongly recommend this property to others!

This property is truly magical. From the swings hanging from seemingly every tree, to the lovely chickens+ducks+bunnies (+horses!) living together in sweet harmony, it is a serene, lovely escape. The house is comfortable, lived in + well loved. Oh, and then there is the unreal view of the Bolinas lagoon ! Framed by the most beautiful oak tree imaginable...
We can't wait to return.

We all had a wonderful and spirit rejuvenating experience on this ranch. Our 5-year-old son was able to feed the horses and chickens, swing on the huge swing that viewed the mountains and the lagoon, we all enjoyed the beach via the cool little town of Bolinas, and overall our family and friends simply enjoyed the 14 or so acres of space to breath. We will be coming back.
PS Lastly, we had fun discovering "Sweet Pea Cottage" at a remote end of the property.

We had an exceptional experience staying on this gorgeous piece of property in a very well equipped and comfortable house. The hosts were gracious and attentive. The chickens provided us some eggs, the trees some plums, and the horses a beautiful visual as they ran freely around the pasture once a day. We will definitely make our way back here for another family gathering.

This beautiful, bright, clean, spacious home is set on several acres of stunning open land, overlooking the Bolinas Lagoon. Linda's gracious hospitality and amazing warmth was an unexpected treat. I hated to leave and cannot wait to return.

You will love your stay here. The property is just amazing and the views stunning. This place is great for families with children since there is a play house, swings, soccer field, horses, chicken coop, and lots of ample space for family gatherings. We had a wedding weekend and everyone that stopped to look was amazed with the property. The owners could not have been nicer. This place will be forever in our hearts as it made our experience for the weekend even more memorable.

My boyfriend and I, along with another couple, spent the weekend at this fabulous place. It was magical. First you are greeted by four well-behaved but enthusiastic dogs as you pull up. (This was nice as our 17 year old dog died two weeks ago.) As you walk to the front door on the other side of the house you see the beautiful, well kept garden and patio area. Then the horses and meadow. But it was the swing on the large oak tree, the chicken coop, and the Sweet Pea Cottage that stole my heart. Fresh eggs in the morning, feeding carrots to the chickens (who knew they ate those?), swinging on the oak tree beyond the cliff overlooking the bay, and exploring the ornate children's cottage and trails behind the secret tree. I told my boyfriend that this would be a great place to take our kids, if we had any. But then I realized...it allowed us to be kids! Even better. We loved the patio set up - the ability to build a fire and have dinner and cocktails outside. And the house was fabulous - surprises everywhere with all the comforts and charms of home! Linda and Stockton, our hosts, took great care of us. This is a fabulous estate and we intend to return.
