About this house rental
Perched atop a ridge on 32 juniper filled acres, Hilltop offers one of Santa Fe’s finest views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to the east and splendid sunsets over the Jemez Mountains to the west. In summer, enjoy the large saltwater swimming pool while taking in views of the desert and the mountains. In winter, lounge in the hot tub, admiring the snowcapped vistas. Year round, use any of the home’s five patios to take in New Mexico’s brilliant sunlight during the day and the stars at night.
The owners, a photographer and writer from New York, use Hilltop to display art from their collection that is appropriate for New Mexico’s culture and history. The works include paintings by 16th Century Roman and Florentine Renaissance Old Masters, plus 19th Century portraits of distinguished Spanish women. There are also works from the Cuzco School of the Spanish Colonial period. Among the contemporary items are works by noted Santa Fe artists. In honor of the Santa Fe Opera, Hilltop displays objects from the estate of Beverly Sills, the late coloratura soprano of the Metropolitan Opera and New York City Opera. The Persian rugs are about 100 years old.
Sleeping eight, the interior of this elegant three bedroom home and its rustic one bedroom casita was created by a prominent designer from Austin. Centrally air conditioned and heated, the 2600 sq. ft. house and detached 560 sq. ft. casita abound in Spanish colonial furniture, along with antiques from around the world. The home is partially adobe, with plaster walls, wood and travertine floors in the main living areas, and new luxurious carpet in the bedroom suites. The two foot thick walls were designed to use energy sparingly, summer and winter.
The formal living room with vaulted ceilings, oak floors and fireplace captures the glorious Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Also overlooking the Sangres and perched above the living space, the dining room has beams and access to a delightful dining deck with majestic mountain vistas.
The fully equipped kitchen with center island has a breakfast area with seated banco, and coved ceilings. Adjoining the kitchen you have an intimate sitting area to watch TV.
The bedrooms are separate from one another, affording everyone maximum privacy. The master bedroom suite sports a king bed, TV, sitting area and large bathroom with walk-in shower, separate bath, and walk-in closet with built-in dresser. The second bedroom, near the pool, also has a king bed, TV, and bath. The whimsically furnished third bedroom has a queen bed and nearby bath with shower that doubles as a powder room. To assure maximum comfort, all bedrooms are equipped with the same mattresses, pillows, and linens as the Four Seasons Resorts.
The multiple outdoor spaces with saltwater pool, hot tub and decks are unparalleled in Santa Fe. The pool area includes a large covered portal, gas grill, outdoor dining and chaises to relax or entertain in peaceful tranquility. Plenty of pool towels and pool accessories are provided. (The pool is open from sometime in May-September, weather permitting.) It is truly a secluded oasis combining water, desert, hills, and vistas.
From the kitchen, a path takes you to the casita, providing privacy from the main home and the perfect spot for friends or staff. The Texas-themed casita has an open floor plan with vigas, Saltillo tiled floors, and powerful mountain views from both the living and sleeping areas. The deck off the casita also has majestic views, just like the main house. The casita has its own kitchen and bath.
Although the location is remote, private and serene, the home is only 16 minutes from the historic Santa Fe Plaza. Unlike similar homes in Santa Fe, there is a paved road right up to the driveway, assuring easy access any time of year.
Two car garage available for parking. The home has central air conditioning and heating, and Wi-Fi. Please, no pets or smokers.

Gorgeous house with even better views. Perfect location to meet family and enjoy all that Santa Fe has to offer. Pool, hot tub, sunrises and sunsets. Kitchen equipped with everything. Never have we been to any place so quiet. Highly recommend!

This property couldn’t have been more perfect for 8 high school besties to celebrate turning 50! So many beautiful and comfortable places to gather in smaller groups or as one big group. We loved our time - everything from afternoons at the pool soaking up sun to sitting on the kitchen porch with blankets and coffee in the chilly mornings. Thank you for creating the perfect environment for us to enjoy our friendships. Only bummer was the hot tub quit heating after our 2nd day but the owner was very responsive in trying to get it fixed.

Beautiful property with impeccable views. I stayed there with four girlfriends to celebrate turning 40 and I have more memories than I can count. I’m so grateful to the house for making everything seamless and for communicating consistently on all levels. We will be back. We may even make this an annual thing!

Hilltop is even more lovely than the photographs and is an easy drive into town.
You will not feel that you are in a rental, this is like staying at a dear friends beautiful home.
The home is beautifully appointed with your every need anticipated. The beds were wonderful, the artwork, magnificent, museum quality pieces, and the kitchen was very well equipped, and the pantry was fully stocked.
We enjoyed the saltwater pool with amazing artwork and covered patio after a day in town. Evenings on the lower deck with the hot tub found us gazing at the stars in the most comfortable chair as you can imagine.
In anticipation of being away from town, we asked for a referral for a caterer to bring dinners, and we could not have been more pleased with Laura. While we were eight in our group, she brought enough food for 12 every night with double appetizers, and the most exquisite things you could imagine. It was easy to reheat, and we were very satisfied.
If you go, you need to make time to sit on the west side of the home one night on the beautiful stone benches that are there so that you have a panoramic view of the glorious sunset.
We hated to leave but I have a feeling we will be back and will stay for more than three nights.

From the moment we walked in to the house, we knew our stay would be one of the best vacations ever! The views from every door and window are unlike anything we have ever experienced and the house is beautiful and very comfortable. Our family of five celebrated our son’s 30th birthday and it was absolutely perfect. We cooked dinner every night and the kitchen had every utensil one could need. My daughter and I had planned to bake a birthday cake but in talking to a lady while at Ten Thousand Waves, she told me that baking at that altitude would likely be difficult for us. This kind lady recommended we buy a cake at Chocolate Maven. We took her advice and bought a German chocolate cake. It was delicious!
The pages of notes and recommendations the property manager provided helped to make our stay so special and were greatly appreciated.
Our family truly enjoyed our stay at Hilltop and will definitely come back again!

Remarkable property in Santa Fe
"Hilltop" is truly a one of a kind property. My family of 8 spent a wonderful week at this glorious property just 15 min from the plaza in Santa Fe. On about 32 acres just west of town in the hills, you feel secluded but completely safe surrounded by beautiful views and high desert. The home was originally the residence of the architect and every detail was carefully considered. The sculptures and the artwork in the home are museum quality but you will immediately feel at home as the owners have provided for every need. We have used VRBO for about 20 years and never experienced a rental like this--you will not be disappointed! KT is an attentive host and gave great advice for activities in the area. I hope our travel schedules will allow for a return vist. Hilltop is a special place managed by special people.

You feel like you have arrived to a dream destination.
The house is gorgeous. It’s an art form in itself.
The property has character. The owners have immaculate taste and the management is first class. We loved this experience. It will be a forever “happy” memory during this pandemic.

Hilltop Heaven
Our family of eight decided to spend Christmas week far away from the bayou’s and oak trees of south Louisiana and happy we are to have chosen Hilltop for our respite. The location was a perfect escape being far away from home in the desert but at the same time no outside amenities were more than 15-20 min away. COVID regulations were no real empediment to our fun. The home is impeccably designed, furnished and decorated to please the taste of the most discerning art devote. The views of the mountains from the home are spectacular. Every minor detail in this home received the attention of Karim, the property manager even to the point of labeling which utensils were in each drawer in the kitchen. She was always available before and during our stay for any question I had or concierge advice. This same attention to detail is evident throughout the home. The beds in the home and separate casita were extremely comfortable and kept us warm with down comforters and fireplaces also. We easily burned a whole chord of wood during our stay. The hot tub was a treat even on a morning when it was 10 degrees F outside.
I could really go on and on about how fabulous this property and its management wowed us but it would be too long to hold your attention. I would definitely revisit this home again when the pool could be utilized.
Absolutely a high end executive property....don’t hesitate to book here. Your stay will be memorable.

Amazing Views with BEAUTIFUL home.
This home was everything anyone wanting to relax with not a sound of the outside world. So many places in this home and outside this home to unwind. The artwork in this is hands down some of the most beautiful pieces I have ever seen giving the house such a cozy and tranquil vibe. Everything you need is in this home and the owners/property manager left no stone unturned in getting you all the information you need to ensure a stress free stay. We will be adding this home to our list of MUST STAY for future Santa Fe adventures!

Great house for 4 couples
Our group of four couples had a fabulous week at hilltop. You do have to drive to go anywhere from there, but it’s not a long drive into town and elsewhere. The kitchen is incredibly well equipped, The pool was lovely to come back to in the afternoons. It was great watching the sunset and the sunrise. Exceptional
Outstanding! This beautiful property, and the pre-visit guidance and communication with of the property owners, were as described in other reviews. Wonderful experience, views, outdoor vistas, and accommodations. This is a premier property in Santa Fe. Our family of six adults, plus one grandchild had a fantastic time, and very much enjoyed the pool area, hot tub, kitchen, and the many outdoor sitting areas. We hired a florist, caterer, and photographer to enhance our overall experience, and had an absolutely wonderful Santa Fe family vacation at Hilltops. We had a few very minor issues (questions) when we arrived, and the local property manager was all over it immediately. Make sure you include dinner at Geronimo's, lunch at The Shed, and hikes at both Tent Rocks and Nambe Falls! Enjoy...and book this property immediately!

Santa Fe Holiday
We had a wonderful time at the Hilltop! It is a beautiful and unique property with lovely furniture and artwork. The property really has thought of everything you could possibly need for your stay. It is in a secluded area with the closest store 20 minutes away so plan accordingly! With that said, getting to and from town is a breeze once you drive it a couple of times. The views from the house make it all worth it!! We enjoyed hanging out with family in the house, watching the sunsets and swimming in the pool. It was the perfect setting for our family getaway!

So much more than even the pictures showed!
Hilltop literally took our breath away when we first opened the door. The whole home has been decorated professionally and beautifully with gorgeous art works. All of the rooms (including the master bath!) are spacious and airy with spectacular views from every window. Terraces everywhere to sit and enjoy the spectacular view of the mountains. You really feel like you are in your own world as all the neighboring houses are few and in the distance, so it's a great place for de-stressing. Karim is the ideal "hostess" as she not only leaves detailed instructions about anything you'd need to know, but also has lists of GREAT recommendations for dining out, sightseeing, etc. We took her advice and dined at Arroyo Vino which is only about 7 minutes from the house: SPECTACULAR food, service and atmosphere.... one of our all time favorites! WE swam in the beautiful pool every morning (a perfect temperature), and watched the sunset from the hot tub every night; the perfect beginning and end of each day sightseeing. Hilltop is a very special place and I couldn't think of a more ideal way to discover Santa Fe! Thank you, Karim!!!

Glorious week on top of the world!
Hilltop is a magnificent home for a few days away. The owners have beautifully created this splendid retreat in the midst of spectacular scenery and only 20 minutes from Santa Fe. They have also furnished and equipped Hilltop with everything you could wish for.
This is one of the most lovely holiday homes we have ever rented and would recommend it most highly.

My family and I had a beautiful experience at Hilltop. The house is gorgeous and fully equipped with everything you need. We like to cook and the kitchen was perfect for our meal prep. Serene Relaxation Perfecto!
I don't believe I could have picked a better place to stay ~ Beyond diamond level hotel. With 24 hour security throughout the area and less than 20m from downtown Santa Fe, the home gives you ultimate seclusion with gorgeous views of the mountains and sky every day. You can get private time in every space and yet still not be isolated from your group. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need for personal meal preparation to meeting the needs of a professional chef service and an intimate private party. The photos certainly set the stage ultimate relaxation because very room is unique and tastefully decorated with bedding that rivals the most luxurious of hotels. There is natural lighting throughout the home which holds a comfortable temperature everywhere. The only thing that could have possibly made coming back to the home in the evenings better would have been some soft lighting along the driveway as you ascend up the hilltop to the home. Our sunrise, sunsets, breakfasts, dinners, and all time spent here was perfect.

Gorgeous Property - Great Experience
Hilltop was a perfect stay. We stayed here with a fun, and discerning group of 8 women. The house is well appointed with beautiful art work and elegant but comfortable gathering spaces. We enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi and lots of laughs around the dining table. Beds and baths were very comforable. Great linens and comforters. The property management was very helpful and professional. Views are beautiful and the property is private (no neighbors near by). The only thing to consider is it’s a 25 minute drive to town. All in all, we had an amazing time, without a single complaint and loved the house and it’s location.

Amazing home and spectacular views!
This home has it all! The owner was very accommodating and helped us find a chef for a birthday party staged poolside. The hot tub was a hit after hiking Abiquiu and other areas suggested by home owner.
The welcome beverages and snacks were much appreciated after a long drive into New Mexico.
The linens and towels are first class, the beds were so comfy!
We had 4 couples and there is so much space we had our privacy and never felt like we were in each other’s way.
We had an afternoon of just chilling poolside.
It is only 15-20 minutes to the plaza. We learned the backroad for a shortcut Just stay on the road leading to the highway and keep going- it takes you right into town.
The casita is charming, with a small kitchen, seating area with fireplace.
I highly recommend this house!

A jewel of a home in a pristine, peaceful landscape
Four couples, college roommates from long ago, get together once a year. This home was large enough to accommodate each couple in comfort and privacy. The interiors were beautifully appointed. There were a number of gathering spaces for extended conversations and gazing at the night sky. The kitchen was fully equipped for those dinners that we had in.
The home is isolated enough for privacy yet an easy 15 minute drive to downtown Santa Fe.
The landscape was unchanging yet dramatic and compelling. The view to the mountains was fabulous, particularly at sunset. The weather was perfect; cool nights, warm days.
Santa Fe was a lovely town to walk about. The very many art galleries made for interesting viewing especially to those in the party that are artists. The distinctive Native American heritage was educational and quite remarkable, especially the pottery. There were a number of excellent restaurants. It was a pleasure to sample true Mexican food.
All in all, a perfect reunion.

Amazing beauty and luxurious comfort
We arrived for a weekend with friends at the beautiful home in the secluded hills outside of Santa Fe. Everything we needed or could ever think of was there for us. The kitchen and adjoining sitting room were great for conversation(s) and nibbling on yummies. The views were indescribable, and the pool and hot tub were well situated to appreciate the 360-degree view.
BUT, OMG, the BEDS! You've never slept on better beds with sheets, pillows, and blankets that feel like you're the Queen of England! And all of the bathrooms are stocked with luxurious towels and amenities.
It's at least 30 minutes outside of downtown, but it's well worth the drive. We visited the Meow Wolf attraction and enjoyed it. Bring a chair with you if you're going to a concert. They don't have seating for attendees.
I would recommend this property to anyone who wants a luxurious stay in a beautiful place near an amazing city.

Fantastic Santa Fe Family Christmas Getaway!
Hilltop was a perfect place for my family to enjoy Christmas 2017! The accommodations were superb and much more than we expected. The kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms were equipped with everything you need to spend a day, week or even longer. We were particularly impressed with all of the furnishings, art and bed/ bath linens,.There were multiple fireplaces and plenty of firewood for our stay with detailed instructions for taking care of everything in the house. Hilltop's views are breathtaking with more windows than one can count. There is a hot tub and swimming pool overlooking the mountains and both are well maintained. Hilltop includes a two car garage with a large storage area and a wonderful separate cottage with a bathroom, kitchenette and fireplace. The wifi worked extremely well throughout the house and there are multiple TVs with access to DirecTV by satellite. The owner and concierge were easily accessible by cell phone or email and will answer any questions you may have very quickly. We were totally blown away by the owner's gracious gifts of wine, champagne and delicious appetizers. I really can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was at Hilltop! Many thanks to the owners of Hilltop, they thought of everything to make our stay special!

Wonderful Property
We spent Thanksgiving in this wonderful house. It has views from every side. We enjoyed sitting around the fire pit and looking at the stars. You are far enough out of town that you can see all the stars in the sky. There are different seating arrangements outside every door. The kitchen is fully stocked with every pot or pan or utensil that you would ever need. The linens were incredible. As a matter of fact we saw the brand and ordered ourselves sets before we left. Perfect family house.
