My family had a blast staying in the Captain’s Quarters treehouse, wishing we were staying longer! My boys absolutely loved exploring and hanging out. We would definitely stay again!

What an awesome place they’ve built! We would stay here regularly if we lived closer. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The host is excellent. Our kids loved the place. The only downside was the previous guests smoked inside the treehouse, despite there being strict no smoking rules. But we would definitely stay there again.

My wife had our forst weekend getaway since our kid was born. It was exactly the vive we were looking for. Rustic experience with modern amenities. Compost toilet wasnt a big deal and the outdoor shower made for a fun experience. We plan in going back oneday and taking our son with us!

Tiny house, comfortable bed, wonderful shower (tin bucket but with hot water), a composting toilet (which actually does not smell much to my surprise) and the loudest noise I heard for three days was the sound of Paris' tail banging against the side of the cabin when she came to visit. This is not a fancy place at all, but it is comfortable; not glamping, but rather fits in well with nature. Livie (my wife) and I plan to return again, possibly to the log cabin in the winter, to play pioneers, but we would recommend our cabin or any of the others to anyone who would like to slow down and listen to nature. I gave it 5 stars and meant every one of them

Such a fun adventure! Quiet woods, lots of privacy, which was important given the open air shower. Bob was a fantastic and responsive host. Really enjoyed our stay.

The location was situated in the trees in a beautiful location. The shower was actually really fun to use and we even had warm water. It was an experience to shower outside and we had no complaints about it from our group. We wished we had been provided more bedding and the cigarette smell was overwhelming. It is a non smoking establishment but it was obvious someone didn’t adhere to this rule. We enjoyed our stay.

My partner, and I decided last minute to plan a quick weekend getaway and found this gem! It was the perfect way to unwind and relax! Don’t forget to stargaze! The skies are beautiful on a clear night!
Additionally, our host was very communicative and friendly.

Staying at the Captain's Quarters was an extremely fun and unique experience, offering a home above the ground in the tree line. While it was a slight adventure with the bathroom and shower accessible from the outdoors, but off the attached deck, the quaint little home was beautiful and easily slept five of us. A fully stocked outdoor fire pit was fantastic to enjoy a campfire, s'mores, and fun storytelling. It's easily accessible and halfway between Nauvoo and Keokuk. The property owner takes great pride and managing the home and making it available for use. Only item to consider is there isn't enough stove to cook a full meal for a family of five., but he provided great recommendations for local restaurants that we enjoyed.

Our stay was amazing! We stayed two nights and had bonfires both nights. We hiked the trails and Paris served as our guide. The outhouse and outdoor shower was a different experience but absolutely unique! We loved all the unique features of the cabin and the location! We came in October and the temperature was perfect. We will be back for sure!

The highlight was the outdoor shower. With the dog escort through the trees to the house as close second. As described, a lovely rustic treehouse!

My fiancee & I were looking for a quiet, nature-filled, cabin-like place to stay for a couple days and definitely found it. Even though there are other treehouses within eyesight of ours, you would never know that you had "neighbors". We loved the rustic look to it and then some. We'll definitely be back!

We went for our annual girls trip. 4-39ish year old gals. We were at max capacity but so enjoyed the beauty and serenity. The hike up with luggage was a bit more than we placed, but we all felt accomplished after we made the trip in the rain! The outside shower is a really neat experience, the water temperature was a pleasant warm. The toilet can be an experience if you aren't accustomed to outdoor living. We enjoyed our trip into town to explore the local history and eat at the magnificent buffet. One evening we enjoyed live music at a local winery. Beware there is minimal to no cell service. Truly a great place to unwind and unplug. I would love to go back and explore the network of trails.

The place was dirty with looked like mouse droppings in a filthy window sill. The decor was nice but looked old and dusty. The floors in upper loft were dirty. The floor of the outdoor compost toilet had leaves all around. It did have warm running water. The treehouse looked cute and enchanting until you got a closer look

This was our 4th annual girls weekend at the captains quarters!! Bob the host is always friendly and helpful. We always have so much fun sitting around the fire, listening to music and playing music. We always go to Baxter winery and Press house winery for great wine tasting and goodies and company.
The Captains Quarters sleeps 5 good. We bring a twin air mattress for one of us place it upstairs.
Get away from the city and enjoy the outdoors, this is the place to go!!

My wife Linda and I needed to get away and have time to really be able to relax. Ten acre Treehouses was exactly what we needed. The setting was more heavily wooded then expected and very private. Our cottage was cozy and quaint with all the amenities we needed. We loved the wrap around porch and enjoyed morning coffee and evening night caps in complete and perfect silence. Just sounds of the woods and woodland creature’s. We didn’t want to come home and that’s what makes for a great vacation/getaway. Our host was very pleasant and ready to serve our needs. Thank you Bob.

A great getaway
It was a perfect getaway with our boys, 7 and 9! We wanted to unplug them for the weekend and celebrate my husband’s birthday..it was just that! The boys played and enjoyed just relaxing. My husband and I loved walking around and reading. Coffee on the back deck was perfect, grill was great for dinners and we enjoyed exploring the local towns as well! Great stay!

Spring break getaway
Our family has a great time on our surprise spring break getaway. Our 3 boys (8, 6, 4) loved the trail hikes, playing near the creek, staying warm by the fire pit, and playing with the dogs and goats. It was nice to relax and unwind away from the hectic schedules at home. The Captain’s Quarters was such a fun place to stay; unique in so many ways and we even found a secret hidden treasure within the house. Bob is friendly and present on the property to ask questions. Overall a really great time for our entire family and highly recommended for folks who like a little adventure or a unique experience.
