My daughter, myself, and my fury friend had a wonderful visit! The house was perfect for us! The host had great communication with me! I left my grandson book and they are mailing it to me. Will definitely stay again next year!

The stay at the cranberry cottage was perfect. It's a very cute home that out perfectly located close to downtown. Loved everything about this home.

we walked all over the small town of black mountain and hiked the trails too…the house was great and we LOVED the shaded yard with a fence for our dog.

Good Location for visiting Asheville and surrounding area. Place was clean and had what we needed to relax in the evening. Quiet neighborhood.

Cozy cabin and the dogs loved the fenced yard. Black Mountain was a great town and we had lots of fun exploring all around the area. We will definitely book again!

Second time I’ve stayed there, nice to have a reliable and comfortable place when in the area, appreciate the hospitality.

There were a couple of issues which have been resolved. One was during our stay(didn’t know how to work the tv/Roku). Messaged then spoke with Bill and was able to understand how to work things. I would suggest having a written step by step instruction there at the house for others in case it’s needed.
There was a another issue which was addressed and corrected after we left.
Bill was always available to help us.
We enjoyed our stay and the wine was a very nice touch.
Black Mtn is definitely our happy place.

Cute cottage close to downtown. You can walk to town, although some of the way there is no sidewalk. Several choices for food and entertainment, some had live music. The cottage is located very close to Graybeard trail and Outlook trail and not too far from other things to do. The yard is completely fenced. That was nice since we stayed with dogs. There is a front porch area and fire pit. The cottage is right on the street corner so there is some level of traffic noise, and the fenced yard helps reduce the traffic noise. The place is a little quirky. It was clean and comfortable. Everything worked as expected. Kitchen had enough plates and silverware. We enjoyed our stay.

The property was said to be walkable into Black Mountain. It was not. The yard was unkempt and unattractive. The accommodations were only adequate and not attractive. The kitchen was lacking enough drinkware. However, the owner has been responsive to me after the fact and has taken my critique in stride.

The property was on a busy, noisy street bombarded with passing car headlights. Environmental controls did little for cohesive comfort. Some rooms uncomfortably cool and others too warm at the same time. The property had no pedestrian access, the only way to walk anywhere would be to share the road with cars at a high rate of speed. There was excessive noise by neighbor's with idling loud motorcycles and noisy ceiling fans and a dehumidifier that made it hard to hear the television which didn't work for the first 24 hours or to hear another person speaking. For the cost, I would never recommend it.

I was so appreciative of Bill and Laura's communication and willingness to work with us. Our pet sitter had backed out last minute and they were willing to let us bring our small pack of puppers! The fenced-in yard was a big hit for the dogs and the simple, but elegant interior was perfect for my fiance and I for just stretching out at the end of the day. Highly recommend this property!

The entire property was enclosed with a tall, solid fence so we felt closed in with no view.
The bed is more of a cot that sank somewhat...making getting in and out somewhat of a challenge.
TV was through Roku rather than cable as advertised.
Those being the worst, it was a pleasant time for us...it was very clean, the owner was very responsive to our inquiries and it was quiet. Everything worked for us.

Easy arrival ,off street parking was great! Fenced in back yard was perfect for the pups so clean! ! The cottage was perfect clean quiet well equipped A/C work perfect and beautifully maintained! Location was perfect close to town and a short walk to a restaurant! We will be back and did I say clean!!! Also we where also luck no one was coming in and could check out later! Thank you so much!

This was a great property. Clean and just as advertised. We had everything we needed. Once you went in the fence it was very private but close to town. It was a great stay and we would stay again.

Lovely cozy cottage great for one or two people. The house is as described and you are within a mile of the main area. Bill Alexander was a kind a gracious host.

The property was extremely close to downtown Black Mountain and Lake Tomahawk. Pleasant and comfortable.

This is our 3rd time staying at cranberry cottage and we enjoyed this stay just as much as the last 2! We were greeted with a snack, bottle of wine and fresh eggs. The electric fireplace is also a nice touch in the winter. We already booked another weekend! Go to my fathers pizza and ask for Lettie! Food is delicious and her service is amazing!

We stayed for a month at the Cranberry Cottage and very much enjoyed our stay. It was really neat to stay in Black Mountain as a local in a residential neighborhood—there are seemingly few opportunities for this in black mountain. We loved walking our two doggies to Lake Tomahawk and to the farmers market. We also loved walking into downtown as well. We drove 22 hours from New Mexico so we really appreciated not having to drive once we arrived! It really felt like home and our two doggies loved being able to play chase in the yard. Bill was great with communication too. All in all, I highly recommend cranberry cottage and will remember my time there with fondness.

This place is very close to downtown, 20 minute walk to lots of restaurants. There yard is very private, with full privacy fencing around the property. The bed was a memory foam mattress, and I slept well. The bathroom was clean, as well as the functional roomy kitchen / breakfast area. This is an older house, and hasn't been fully updated. Paint is fresh, rugs and furniture are newer and clean. There's no central AC, but the unit right outside the bedroom kept it comfortable at night. There are fans in every room, as well as plug in air purifiers to keep any staleness at bay. Nice neighborhood for strolling, streets are close together. 5 minute walk to a short downtown greenway, and walking distance to all the downtown spots.

The Black Mountain cottage was exactly as described plus we were provided with a nice bottle of wine. The dogs loved the securely fenced in yard. The fire pit was also a nice bonus.

It is hard to find a good, safe place to have your pet travel with you, especially if it is a high-drive K9! This cottage with the fenced in yard was fabulous. We could throw the ball, etc. to get him some exercise. The cottage was comfortable and well-equipped.

Wonderful property and perfect for our dog to let out and roam around in the fenced in property. The inside was clean and comfortable. The location is in a perfect location. We extremely enjoyed our short stay in the Black Mountain area and this place will go on our list of great places to stay with our pet when we visit the area again.

Cute & Convenient
Everything we needed for a weekend stay with our pups. Fantastic communication with our host! Will definitely stay again.

Enjoyable accommodations but no frills
The home was cozy and ample for our needs during our stay. Temperatures were hot and it would have helped to have the ceiling fan working in the bedroom. Glad I brought a box fan to help circulate the cool of the split system a/c unit located in the hallway outside the bedroom and bathroom. Looked for an iron and ironing board but did not locate.
All in all it met our basic needs. Thanks.

Great week away
We had a wonderful week under the trees. Had our dog with us. We needed a hidaway for a week and this was it. Modest but well appointed cabin. Everything we needed. Build a fire in the firepit each evening.

Fun spot, well equipped and great for dogs. You can’t beat opening the door to let the dogs roam the fenced area. And it’s a short stroll to downtown (you’re on a neighborhood road without sidewalk part of the way but little traffic). Enjoy!

This was perfect for my husband, our dog Rosey, and me. Loved that we could walk to downtown—a beautiful walk along a babbling creek. We had a great time hanging around outside around the fire, and the fence made it so nice for our dog. We loved it. ❤️👍

Less than 2 weeks ago I was mindlessly paging through the interweb one morning when a winter storm warning for western NC popped up. At once my hands began to shake, scalding coffee splashed onto my lap and shrieking like a little girl, I bolted down the hallway to share the news with my wife. We live near the Outer Banks where heavy snows are hard to come by. To us, getting the storm report was akin to tossing a hambone to a famished dawg.
Time was of the essence, the warning was to take effect the next day. A full blown quest for suitable accommodations ensued. Sadly, search efforts mostly returned cramped motel rooms and condos attached to unconscionable fees. Like-minded people had beat us to the choicest properties, or so we thought. Surrendering to all the nerdy meticulous planners out there, we regrouped and were thisclose to pulling the trigger on a motel reservation when Cranberry Cottage came into view.
About a guy’s perspective: In the reviews you’ll find comments like Cute, Very Cute, Adorable, Sweet, Lovely, Delightful. All spot on, but those descriptors typically don’t appeal to me. I was just before moving on to the next listing when my wife said “Hey Knucklehead, get over yourself.” Well, I did, I got over myself and mere hours later was rewarded with 11-12 inches of soul-soothing, rejuvenating, magical, gently and steadily falling snow, watching it through large multiple windows in a house with a full kitchen, ample living space and a private fenced yard where our pup could pee unsupervised, just like at home.
Much more to say but this is all the writing space allotted by VRBO. At this point I’ll close with some solid advice: Read all the reviews, ignore anything even remotely negative, skip to the bottom of the page and click Book Now. In retrospect, with all sincerity, the only thing I’d change about this property would be the owners’ names on the deed, from theirs to ours. Enjoy.
