About this house rental
Historic Country Estate in Asheville
The Carolina Jewel is the most unique vacation rental in the Asheville area. The main house has history and character and maintains a casual luxury that other homes cannot duplicate. The two houses sit about 100 yards apart and are joined by a footbridge over the creek with water cascading over the moss covered rocks. The porches, decks, benches, and a firepit all provide the setting for creating precious memories.
The Carolina Jewel has 5 bedrooms in the historic 1845 Victorian Farmhouse and an additional 2 bedrooms in the spacious Creekside Crystal Cottage on the property across the creek underneath a canopy of trees. Each of the suites in the Historic house, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, has its’ own unique charm. All bedrooms have private baths and fireplaces equipped with gas logs.
The oldest portion of the home, the Great Room that was built in 1845, has rustic rough-hewn logs and its fireplace is made of rocks pulled from the fields outside. Adjacent to the great room is the fully stocked modern kitchen and laundry room for your use. In 1880 an addition, of the Victorian style, was added to the log cabin to accommodate the growing family. A major interior renovation in 1999, added luxury bathrooms without disturbing the charm of the by gone era.
The Carolina Jewel is situated on 4 acres with a stream running through the property, a great firepit, swing, hammocks, decks, porches, and a large level area for the kids to run and play.
The Carolina Jewel locations is ideal with the heart of downtown Asheville only 15 minutes away. Uber and Lyft will pick up and deliver to the Carolina Jewel. The charming town of Weaverville is only 8 miles away and the Blue Ridge Parkway entrance is a mere 5 miles. Many of the top outdoor activities are located within a 20 minute drive; everything from river rafting to zip lines and gem mining! There is even an apple orchard in the neighborhood. You will also find some of the best restaurants as well as some of the best kept secrets that your host will share with you. But, then again, many of our guest book the Carolina Jewel because they want to visit Asheville yet when they arrive and unwind they don’t even want to leave the property!
Guest have access to all parts of both houses.
Michael & Eva like to greet all guest to show the quirks of the old house. We are always available for our guest.
The Carolina Jewel is located at the entrance to the Hawks Landing community which is an upscale community in the valley. It is a good neighborhood for a walk with great neighbors.
Quite time after 10 PM.
Please inquire about pets, we love our fur babies of the canine variety but do limit the number and size of dogs. There is a pet fee of 75 per pet.

We had the most wonderful time staying at the Carolina Jewel Farmhouse and Creekside Cottage with our friends and family. Each space had all the amenities you could possibly need. Every single one of the bedrooms was large and luxurious (larger than some of the pictures made it seem even which is hardly ever the case!)
We got married next to the magical babbling creek and had a reception under a tent with our 50 guests right on the property. Planning even a small wedding is never an easy feat, but Eva was so helpful and easy to work with throughout the whole process. Our guests kept remarking on how cool the farm house is and how the whole property was so well maintained. The Carolina Jewel will be cherished by our family for years to come, we can’t wait to come back and stay for another visit.

Our family of 14 stayed at the Carolina Jewel and I cannot say enough grerat things about this property!
We were in the area to celebrate our son's marriage from the year before and the property exceeded our expectations. Not only was it perfectly charming, especially if you love beautiful old historic properties, but it had so much room that even with our large number we never felt crowded. The bedrooms were spacious and with all of the ammenities right down to the little touches like shampoo/conditioner.
And while it is steeped in history, it has also been updated and had all of the modern conveniences you could want like jacuzzi tubs in almost every bathroom and a very well stocked kitchen inlcuding Keurig coffee maker, We loved it so much as a family that we are talking about maybe coming together there in the future.
Eva was a fabulous and very reponsive host. She came out to help us get settled and was very quick to answer any question we had. If you want a beautiful location for a large crowd - try the Carolina Jewel - you won't be sorry!!

This property was well laid out for our large gathering. The Creekside Cottage was a nice addition to accommodate everyone comfortably. The grounds were very nice.

My nephew was getting married at a nearby venue and my mom wanted all of us(13+) to stay together. I rented the carolina jewel, the cabin and the treehouse and it was perfect. It is always nerve wracking to book a spot for that many people but everyone loved it. My 2 married nephews and their young children stayed in the cabin. The bridge over the creek was a favorite of the 3 yos as was the swing. The firepit was utilized both on thursday night for just the family and Friday night for family and groomsmen.
Each bedroom had a cool bathroom attached. My 84 yo mom stayed in the 1 downstairs room with a walkin shower.
I liked the fact the tv was only in 1 room so people were more inclined to spend time together.
I cannot say enough good thjngs about the carolina jewel. We would definitely stay there again

We took our kids and grand kids for a Christmas/ New Year family trip. Everyone had a blast, especially the grands. The grand kids played in and around the creek every day. Great place for a great trip.

We absolutely loved the house and the cottage!! We held our family reunion/vacation at the Carolina Gem. There were 16 of us and we ranged in age from 29 to 76. The property was perfect. Very comfortable and clean. Beautiful landscaping. The furnishings. The history of the house. The great room with the log walls. The stream. The porches. The owner was very helpful and friendly. We hope to return again!

Perfect family location with lovely stream on property that kept kids busy for hours! Eva and Michael are the best! Every detail has been thought of, including well stocked kitchens, and a great grocery store is nearby allowing us to eat in and enjoy the fire pit and endless stars! We rented the house and cabin, and everyone enjoyed their own personal bathroom. Gorgeous mountain setting, historic and sparkling clean, you can’t find better anywhere!

The house and cottage are lovely. Every attention to detail was there, including a welcome basket of s’mores and coffee.
Check in was easy. Only downsides are the historical property is next to the highway and you can hear road noise. And when I contacted the owner 3 times to see if we could check out an hour late, I never got a reply.
Overall, it was lovely enough we’d stay there again.

My husband and I recently spent a beautiful weekend at the Carolina Jewel for our wedding weekend! When choosing a location, it was important to us that we have room for our immediate family to stay with us, outdoor space for the little cousins to run around in, plenty of common areas in the home, and overall a beautiful place for the pictures of our special day that we'll treasure in the years to come. The Carolina Jewel hit every mark and exceeded our expectations. The Carolina Jewel is truly one of a kind. It's a breathtaking property with the sweetest touches in every room. It really felt like a home away from home for us and our family. Eva was also so helpful and responsive, doing everything from meeting with our wedding planner months in advance, to giving us a tour of the property when we arrived, to being totally available during our stay as any questions arose. I can't say enough positive things about the Jewel - we'll definitely be back for anniversaries and family reunions in the years to come!

We loved our time at the Carolina Jewel. We held our September wedding on the grounds and it was the perfect place for our gathering. Our wedding ceremony was in the field next to the house along a stream and surrounded by foliage. We really appreciated that we could have everything in one place- the ceremony and the reception. Our out-of-town friends were able to stay at the farmhouse and cottage while we stayed in the Treehouse. Eva and Michael were excellent hosts. Eva answered many questions and helped us plan since we live out of state. They were communicative, friendly and helpful and the homes were very clean and cozy. The Treehouse was an incredible place to stay- so quiet and surrounded by the woods. We hope to return someday!

We loved our stay at the Carolina Jewel! We had a family reunion and wedding reception there and everyone had an amazing time; the venue was absolutely perfect. We are in love with the house and grounds and are planning another reunion there, possibly next summer. The Greene's have done a beautiful job in creating the perfect North Carolina getaway. The attention to detail makes it feel luxurious and intimate and the perfect backdrop for a very special day. Each room is perfectly decorated down to the final detail. The house is both true to its history and yet modernized in all the ways that matter. The beds and linens are amazingly comfortable, and the kitchen accommodated our catering staff with no problem. Each room has its own bathroom, which allows for plenty of privacy. The house is immaculate and comes equipped with many small amenities that really make the stay feel special. The rustic scenery makes for some amazing photos as well. The Greene's are fantastic to work with and helpful in every way possible. Their care and attention to both the property and their guests makes this a fantastic choice for any event!

This was a perfect place for our family Christmas! In spite of lots of rain, we found plenty to do. The best was enjoying this beautiful home and property. The owners have thought of every detail to make their guests feel at home. Bedrooms are extremely comfortable and beautifully furnished. Kitchen was well stocked with plenty of dishes and utensils for a crowd.
Luckily we were able to enjoy the fire pit and even found special forks for roasting marshmallows! Such a peaceful location!
We look forward to returning in the future.

I could not have been happier with our stay this past October at The Carolina Jewel! Eva and Michael are such gracious and welcoming hosts, it feels like you're staying at the home of old friends. They have a wealth of information about the area for travelers who are not from North Carolina, and we took advantage of their suggestions and had great fun exploring Asheville, the Biltmore Estate, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. The house itself has been painstakingly updated for the modern traveler (every room with a full bath- yay!), but still maintains the warm, cozy feel and charm of the original 1840s Victorian farmhouse. While I loved the historical feel of the house, I was also very appreciative of all the little touches and effort that went into making every aspect of our visit a joy! The adjoining cottage is perfect to help accommodate larger groups and has its own kitchen and facilities, but it is close enough to keep the group feeling like one big family. We had a nice campfire out back after sunset -- just a lovely setting for reconnecting, storytelling and relaxing after busy days sightseeing. I would highly recommend the Carolina Jewel without hesitation!

Our family love staying in this house! The house is beautifully furnished and the kitchen
Is extremely well equipped. The owners are friendly and very helpful in showing you the house and suggesting ideas for activities in the area. We were all so pleased we rented this house for our 4 night stay. We would highly recommend this vacation home to our friends and family and anyone looking for a "feel right-at-home" place to stay.
Thank you.

This home was the perfect backdrop for the fun and companionship of our family get together. The main house and the cabin are charming, well stocked and convenient to grocery stores and restaurants. We felt truly pampered with such comfortable bedrooms and baths and amenities. There were even the makings of s'mores waiting for us when we arrived!! Bonfires every night while we were there were the PERFECT end to each day, keeping everyone off of their electronic devices and talking late into the night. I highly recommend the Carolina Jewel as a wonderful venue for large groups to feel cozy but not the least bit crowded. We will be back! Thank you Eva and Michael!

12 runners and 14 supporters traveled to Asheville, NC to participate in this 209.2 mile relay (not all 26 stayed in the house :-)). House was 'headquarters' for the weekend. Group ages ranged from 1.7 yrs. to 76 yrs. A perfect weekend, weather, for runners, not too hot, all runners finished their 3 legs of the relay (36 in total), great home cooked meals, from the very well stock kitchen. Celebratory, Saturday dinner (24 ppl), well accommodated in dining / family room. S'mores, by the bonfire, capped the evening. 4 children (& parents) commandeered 2 bed room, cottage for their own and were able to escape all the adults (& get to bed early).
Would we recommend this place, definitely. If we participate in the BRR, in '16, this will be the first place we'll register for, after getting into the race. Eva, the host, was quick to respond to emails, provide add'l information and check-in & out was flawless.

We loved this house! It is old in style and history but modern in comfort and convenience. Lots of room for a large family gathering and a yard with room to play many games or just sit by the fire. Beds were awesome too which was much appreciated! We have slept on many a hard mattress but the master bed in the cottage was perfect. I highly recommend this property for a fun mountain weekend. Close to grocery store, historic sites and hiking. We took the rattlesnake lodge hike-very cool.
