The property is amazing yet reasonably close to nearby attractions. The outdoor area is fantastic, Eagle, Osprey & Loon watching. Kayaks & SUP’s available for use. It made for a PERFECT 1st trip to Maine!

This lakeside rental was one of our highlights on an amazing two-week New England road trip. Based on advice from friends, we booked this home because it was outside busy Bar Harbor and that ended up being perfect for us. After busy morning/early afternoons in Acadia National Park we all looked forward to going back to "the lake house" in Franklin and leaving the chaos behind. George's Pond is clear and beautiful. We watched loons and eagles and many fireside sunsets. Fished and swam off the dock (my son caught a huge bass right off the dock) and kayaked (with the supplied kayaks) all over the lake. The home is spacious, super clean and well stocked. We were able to get to Acadia NP within 40 min and larger grocery stores were about 15 min away from the house. Although there were smaller convenience stores just a few minutes from the house. The owner was responsive (although we didn't need him other than a quick "hello, we've arrived" and there were no fussy departure instructions - just the normal stuff you'd expect. It was an amazing stay in an amazing home and if we are ever in this area again we would not hesitate to stay here again!

This was a wonderful getaway. The house was clean, comfy, and had everything we needed. Comfy beds, nice bathrooms, and great outdoor spaces. The location is perfect - close enough to town and Acadia, but far enough away so we didn't feel like tourists. :) Georges Pond is lovely - friendly neighborhood, pristine water, amazing views. We made good use of the kayaks and paddle boards and swam in the pond every day. The sunsets were spectacular, and I especially loved the quiet solitude of early morning coffee by the water. We soo enjoyed this house and our week on Georges Pond!

A fantastic location, and a top notch house and amenities.
Great spot for swimming, kayaking and fishing off of the dock. My family and I loved the place.
Thanks to the ownership for having such a nice place ready for travelers!

We had a very relaxing and comfortable stay at George’s pond. The house was great communication with the owner was fantastic. The sunsets and sunrises were so beautiful and peaceful. The bald eagles nesting around the pond and we saw them every day. We’re close enough to Bar Harbor and Acadia to enjoy trips down theKayaks and paddle boards were easy to access and lots of fun to use

Property is as advertised. Everything was beautiful including the lake. Kayaks were fun as was the fishing. Owner had everything you could think of in the house. They also quickly responded to all requests. Area was quiet and relaxing. Would highly recommend it. The only thing to note is there is not a lot of restaurant options close by and the drive to bar harbor was about 45 min. We didn’t mind the drive and preferred to get away but it just means you need to plan ahead for different things. The bar harbor area was beautiful as we went hiking, rock climbing, whale watching and watched the sun rise.

This was a very relaxing and cleverly decorated and furnished house on a quiet lake. This was very comfortable for 4 people. The host responded to any message immediately. Really enjoyed ourselves.

The property exceeded our expectations! The listing did its best to describe this place, however, the property and location were too amazing to capture in words. The pond was calm and beautiful and the house itself was incredible. I could’ve spent my all day and night out on the dock or hanging in a kayak! Paul is an awesome host and I would 100% recommend his place!

The home was clean, comfortable, well stocked with the basic necessities and nearby to Bar Harbor, Acacia National Park and other points of interest. It was everything we expected and more! The owner was extremely accommodating and quick to reply with any question or concern! We would highly recommend this home to anyone interested in the area!

The house was the perfect comfort to return to after a long day spent at Acadia. For those seeking a quiet retreat away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor, this is the place!

The view is fantastic. I could have just sat and looked at the lake all week. It was pretty quiet except for some work being done nearby one day. Sitting around the firepit at night was sublime. The weather was great even without the sun at the end of the week.
The only bad thing was the drive to Mt. Desert which was a little long and way too crowded for my taste.

We enjoyed our stay so much! The owner Paul is extremely helpful mapping out things to do in the area, hikes and restaurants! He is very responsive and the home was equipped with everything you need and not to mention a cute and ‘homey ‘ feel. Will be back!

We were beyond pleased with our stay at George’s Pond. The house was perfect with many amenities, especially in the kitchen with spices, foil, baggies already there. Paul was the best host, the house was lit up and windows open when we arrived and he checked on us during Hurricane Lee to be sure we were good. Luckily we only had one bad weather day. The lake was beautiful and great for kayaking. I would recommend this house if you are coming to Bar Harbor, Acadia, or anywhere in Downeast Maine! Thanks Paul!

We keep returning to the George’s Pond House since it provides us with the beauty, tranquility, fun stuff and all the things you need away from home. Paul is a great host who keeps the property in good working order and clean. He is very responsive and accommodating.

We really enjoyed the lovely waterfront property in quiet Franklin ME. It was peaceful, fun to kayak and use the stand up paddle board as well as swim. My husband loved fishing almost daily. The view of George’s Pond was really nice. It was a bit secluded, so even to shop at a large grocery store was a minimum of 20 min away. Acadia National park was great and Bar Harbor-approximately 35-40 min drive. Our rental was lovely, clean and had everything one would need for a week’s stay. I highly recommend Paul’s rental. Thx again Paul for a great vacation. It was truly a home away from home.🙂🙌

I can’t say enough about this place - of course the setting is fantastic, from the lake sunsets to loons to fishing and swimming, but the house and hosts are wonderful to boot, with attention to detail and a welcoming hospitality, our young family of four were right at home and didn’t want to leave!

Although we needed to cut our visit short due to a pet emergency at home, we thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful home with such a spectacular setting! - This home is clean and tastefully decorated. We truly appreciated the stocked kitchen and little provided necessities. The owner is very attentive. We look forward to visiting again!

We loved the house!! Very clean!!
Perfect for our family. Plenty of room. Well stocked kitchen. Gorgeous view of the lake with beautiful sunsets and great fishing!!
Our favorite restaurant was Union River Lobster Pot!!
Excellent hot lobster roll!! It was only a 20 minute drive from the house.
It’s about a 45 minute to a hour drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.
Had a great vacation!!

Our family have stayed in numerous VRBO over the years and this one was best we have ever stayed in. Great communication by the owner with a phone call greeting as well as emails through VRBO. We spent days hiking Acadia and the evenings exploring the lake. Very peaceful and relaxing location. If we could give it a 10/10, we would.

Despite the week of rain and cold (upper 50's) and unable to access the lake as much as anticipated, this home on the water was far enough away from the tourist areas to feel like home and close enough to the quieter side of Arcadia to enjoy our week w our adult children. Only regret was not visiting more of the quaint, smaller towns along Rt 1 close to our rental. Owner great to work with and even provided a brand new fishing pole for my enjoyment. Sunset was stunning and house just the right size to play cards, snack, and hang out.

10/10. Loved our time here. Excellent property with great amenities, great view over the lake, and plenty of fun activities to do on the water with kayaks and paddle boards included.
Convenient to Acadia national park and the nearby town of Ellesmere for shopping and food but far enough away to get a really quiet and private experience.
Would definitely stay again.

We rent VRBOs for spring and fall break every year, and this house was the nicest we have ever rented. We visited for a week for Fall Break 2022. The location was stunning and so peaceful. My teenage boys loved fishing off the kayaks. We loved the Solo Stove in the evenings. The house was clean and comfy. It was SO NICE to find staples in the cabinets... we saved so much money not buying spices, baggies, foil, dishwashing soap, laundry soap, etc. The owner was EXTREMELY responsive and friendly via texts. We appreciated his helpful answers to any questions we had. The house was a 35-minute beautiful drive to Acadia and only about 20 mins from several nice grocery stores. We absolutely loved this location and I took some of the most stunning vacation photos ever at this home - it was like living in an LL Bean catalog!

Paul and Ashlee-- thank you for making our stay in Maine safe, clean and enjoyable. This was our first time in Maine to see the fall foliage. In addition to the spectacular scenery your place was everything we expected. We loved our short side trips to Acadia, Bar Harbor and Castine! But we always enjoyed coming back to see a beautiful sunset on the lake each day. And we fell in love with the area. Thank you!

We stayed 8 nights at the end of September. The home was beautiful and clean. We had everything we needed for our stay. The lake/pond setting was gorgeous and we enjoyed the loons. Easy to find but felt quiet and peaceful. We would do it again!

This is the most charming and cozy place you can be! The loons will lull you to sleep at night, and the crisp Maine air will greet you refreshed in the morning. I miss it already.

We sooo enjoyed our time at this lovely home on Georges Pond. We just got relax and spend time together after a stressful year.
We loved everything about it and really had a blast kayaking and spending time around the fireplace in the evening. We wished we had been able to rent it longer. It was very clean, comfortable and cozy, and we had everything we needed there. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

We had the best week ever by the lake, swimming and canoeing or paddling everyday. The water is really clear and it was great fun to go around the island with the kayaks on the property. The house was spotless and comfortable. It is really suited for four adults max. We hope to come back.

Great place
We enjoyed this home enormously! The lakefront view is beautiful and peaceful. The sunsets are gorgeous. The kayaks are great, and we liked the American flag at the end of the dock - both patriotic and functional to locate the home from the water. The kitchen is well equipped, and we enjoyed using the grill and fire pit as well. We’d love to return in the future!

What a wonderful place. The cabin has everything you need. Very tastefully decorated and you can tell the owners have put a lot of work into making this cabin exceptional. The owners thought of everything, comfortable seating in kitchen, upper deck and plenty of seating down below. Appliances were great, ice maker was a plus, gas stove was nice. Water filtration system was a nice added bonus.
We enjoyed sitting on the dock, a little cold for swimming, but enjoyed the peace and tranquility. Listening to the loons at night, watching the bald eagle and osprey, little ducks and ducklings just made this place perfect for us. There are neighbors on either side, but did not notice or hear them at all. Acadia was about a 45 minute drive, Bar Harbor is a quaint little town, little touristy, but that's okay. We found Schoodic Point, part of Acadia which was much closer to the cabin and we felt it was much more enjoyable. Easy to walk the rocks to the eaters edge. And it was ALOT less crowded. We have rented many places on VRBO, and this property is hands down, the nicest, cleanest place we have ever stayed. Paul was easy to communicate with and was a call away if we would have needed him. Definitely recommend this place, 5 stars!!!!

The house is very cozy with 3 levels just as described which was perfect for our family of 3. We really enjoyed our stay and took advantage of the beautiful, nightly sunsets as well as the kayaks.
