About this apartment rental
Cleaner is Covid 19 safety trained. Celebrate the best in indoor/outdoor living in this spacious and well-kept ground floor unit in Keauhou Akahi! Conveniently situated on south Ali’i drive, the condo is 1/3 mile from Keauhou bay and less than one mile from the Keauhou Shopping center. Unlike northern Kona, Keauhou is very lush and green - it is where the Hawaiian Royalty, the Ali’i, once spent their leisure time! This sought-after location is perfect for golfers, cyclists, fishermen, water sports-enthusiasts and adventure seekers, as well as those desiring some well-deserved R&R. The Kona coast is the drier part of the island - less rain = more fun for you!
Being a ground level unit, the natural breeze keeps the condo cool and comfortable year round. A fully equipped kitchen will allow you to take advantage of the island’s fresh produce and fish while viewing the sunset. Extra linens and beach towels are available at your convenience.
The covered lanai has a gas BBQ, ample outdoor seating, and a retractable sun shade, with splendid ocean views. One advantage of this unit is the private garden - where you will find beautiful flowers and herbs growing, birds enjoying the birdbath and geckoes climbing the drainpipes. The grounds are very well kept with mature landscaping, reminiscent of a botanical garden. Across the driveway, the saline pool is picturesquely situated on the Kona Country Club. Watch golfers tee off at the 9th hole you soak up the sun poolside. Rinse off from the ocean or beach in the open-air hot/cold shower adjacent to the pool.
In this location, a car isn’t a necessity; but if you do, there is secure and shady parking nearby the unit. Both the Hele-On bus and the Keahou Resort open-air trolley stop close by on Ali’i Drive. Many local beaches and attractions are accessible via public transit. The Keahou shopping center has everything you will need - grocery and drug stores, farmer’s market, cinema, post office and restaurants.
Indulge your senses in local finds from the twice weekly farmer’s markets, each in walking distance. Go taste freshly roasted Kona coffee at a local plantation. Snorkel in crystal-clear Kahalu'u bay. Watch dolphins from an outrigger canoe. Visit the historical City of Refuge. Cycle on the same roads as the Ironman. Explore the ocean on a stand up paddle board. Fish for tuna. Visit the vivacious live volcano. Swim with manta rays. Be awakened by soft bird song. Experience the magnificent Hawaiian sunset. This is YOUR paradise!

This was an excellent home base for a snorkeling vacation. The two queen beds (one of them a comfortable Murphy bed) make it best for two couples.
Diane, the owner is responsive and helpful. She gave us good information about the area along with complete details for the condo. A lock box system with another keys available made access efficient.
The listing describes two distinct bedrooms. The pictures confused us on the sleeping arrangements. The “living area” is the second bedroom. (Louvered sliders and blinds block light but not sound. This accessory room isn’t a regular bedroom. It was comfortable for the person staying there. The fourth person slept on the sofa which was comfortable as well. She didn’t open it as a sofa bed.)
The condo cools beautifully. Ceiling fans, good window screens, and screen doors provide efficient cross ventilating air flow. Wonderful.
Especially good for snorklers, divers, and swimmers. Lots of hangers, a hook system on the patio, and a drying rack made it easy to dry swim suits, etc. The patio closet held very useful snorkeling gear. We borrowed fins and a mask that fit; we didn’t have to rent extra gear.
The kitchen was also well equipped. Bountiful towels, linens, toilet paper, paper towels and more — the condo was very well stocked.
The lush garden obscures the view of the ocean but we knew it was there. A lovely lime tree provided fresh juice for the papayas from the market.
We had a fabulous vacation.

This place is about 5-10 mins from downtown Kona. It is very convenient to get grocery, etc. from Costco, Walmart, supermarket, etc. Few cruises near by, 5 mins waking. My kids went to Outrigger to watch Manta Ray in the evening. Floor was little sticky when we arrived. We had Tiny bugs (fruit flies?). We were not sure where they came from. Electric kettle was rusted on the bottom and need to be replaced.
Otherwise, this is a wonderful place to stay in Kona.

This was our 5th visit to the Big Island and for the last 3 times we've stayed at this wonderful, ideally located, well stocked & verrry clean condo. You can feel the owners' TLC and their wanting to make visitors as comfortable as possible. Even on the rare gray days, the sunsets are merely fantastic. We're anxious to return again and again.

This condo is great if you are a slightly mobility impaired. There are no stairs, but you do have to walk around the building. The showers are easy to get into. There was a very comfortable queen size bed at a good height. Our friend slept on the Murphy bed and she said it was very comfortable also. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you will need to cook. There are a few extra spices which is great. I have rented in the complex five or six times over the years, different units and I will definitely come back to this condo again. Easy to communicate with the owners.

This was our first experience with vrbo and it was perfect for us. Diane, the Host was very helpful with directions, and instructions about the condo so it was very easy to locate the condo and get inside. It was exactly as described on the website. Everything was clean and ready to move in, all we had to do was unpack and go to the store for food. It is a very quiet place and friendly neighbors. Even though there was no AC there was usually a nice breeze and the ceiling fans kept it cool. The pool is near the unit, clean and very inviting. If we ever make it back to Kona we would for sure stay here again. Thanks again Diane for sharing your condo with our family and making our trip that much more special. Aloha, Willi and family

Nice place. Kinda odd layout with 2nd bedroom more of a dining room with blinds and sliding doors. Was very clean. Nice to have the 2 bathrooms. Kitchen well stocked. The beach chairs and snorkel stuff was pretty dated so we rented from Boss Frogs.

Diane was a great host, and was available for any questions. The condo was clean and very well equipped, all the beach toys and towels we could have needed. The master bedroom/bath was large and comfortable. The only thing I wish I had realized when booking was that the 2nd bedroom, is only separated from the kitchen by a vertical blind. And the livingroom by sliding doors. My teenagers would have liked a little more privacy.....I would highly recommend the condo and would definitely Italy rent it again.

This attractively-decorated ground-floor condo had plenty of space for us two Senior couples, a fully-equipped and well-stocked kitchen, plus a pleasant lanai. The location near Ali'i Drive is convenient for driving to stores, beaches, and attractions but also makes night traffic noise inevitable. Unusually hot & humid weather during our stay made us wish for air conditioning, not just the ample ceiling fans, until we figured out the improvement made by closing windows and lowering lanai blinds during the day. We also appreciated the owner's recommendations on activities and shopping.

Diane, your condo and its location is everything that you say it is. This was our 2nd time renting your place as it is so comfortable and located in an area that we also love, Keauhou Bay. Here we can be active as we want whether it be on the water or in it, running, walking or just plain observing the wildlife, flowers and sunsets. Thank you for sharing your happy place.

Relaxing stay
We enjoyed the apartment. It’s in a central location for seeing the Kailua-Kona coast. It was very clean. The host was prompt and helpful with questions and recommendations. Our kids enjoyed the pool. There is some traffic noise, but quieted down in the evenings.

Beautiful Place!
Diane was a breeze to communicate with. Any needs that arose she got them taken care of immediately.
The home is well stocked, the fridge, spices, and paper products.
The cleaning could have been kicked up a notch. All the surfaces you touched had been cleaned. Under the beds and couches was quite a bit of dust and particles. In between dresser drawers and bathroom drawers there was a build up of dust.
The road noise from the master bedroom is loud and carries right inside the windows. Also the trash and yard service ran twice in one week which was a lot of noise early as well.
This was a great spot that took care of us for the week.

Weekend Stay in Kona
Very relaxing and pleasant. We drove to the Volcano which was long and tedious but worth the time. Many changes since I was there about in 1972. At that time you walked a long way very close to the edge while this time you were quite a way from the actual boiling lava. The 2018 eruption changed the area drastically. I warn people to bring a flashlight and raincoat with them if planning on walking down the trail at point 5. The only hitch was I locked the door the first night and then could not open it. I called the site manager about my situation and we were able to get it unlocked I called him to let him know not to come but actually left the message and talked to a person from Portland. Weird because my phone showed the caretakers nam on it.very pleased .

Great place!
We enjoyed our stay in Diane's condo. The cond is perfect, with a very comfy bed. Diane responded quickly to any questions we had, the condo was very clean when we arrived, which we appreciated. The kitchen is one of the best kitchens of the numerous VRBO'S we have stayed in, can't think of anything we needed that wasn't there. The beach chairs and umbrella came in handy for the day we spent on the beach. The condo was in a good location for all the exploring and hiking we did.
We would stay again if we find ourselves back in this area of the Big Island.

A nice house as advertised
The house is neat and clean in a nice environment. Our stay was pleasant here. We had only one issue in locating the house initially as our google maps couldn't locate the address. But the landmark provided by the owner was very helpful. The owner was very responsive and helpful.

Very accommodating!
Lots of space for a family vacation! I highly recommend staying here. We felt right at home, there were two bathrooms that saved us time to get ready. Two beds and a sofa pull out bed that allowed us to feel comfortable. We also had an amazing kitchen so we were able prep food when we were on the go and we enjoyed our breakfast outside. We also had an amazing communication with the management. Mahalo for everything.

A lovely home base for parents and teenagers
We had such a lovely stay in Kona. This listing was a perfect home base for our adventures: snorkeling at Two Step, kayaking to Captain Cook, and general beach-relaxing. Our two teenagers had plenty of space (yay!) and enjoyed pool time at the beautiful saline pool in the evening. Usually, the pictures are better than the place, but not in this case! The pictures just do not do justice to how clean and comfortable the space is- comfortable mattress, a lanai perfect for drinking morning coffee, a fresh, clean kitchen. We also loved the ceiling fans, geckos, and wake-up calls from the neighborhood rooster who struts about with his special lady friend. Oh! It would be wonderful to spend more time in Hawaii.

10/10 would stay again!
Such an amazing stay! I would highly recommended! She had everything you’d need on this property (a full kitchen, 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms, and snorkel/boogie board equipment). We used the snorkel equipment and saw dozens of dolphins at the bay less than a mile way (walking distance)! Also Diane was super quick to respond to a message in the app! I would definitely stay here again!

Fabulous location, very clean and cozy
This condo was everything we expected....and more. Sunsets, quiet, handy to everything and, did I say sunsets? We are solid seniors who spend most of our time outside hiking, swimming, walking & running. For us this location is perfect.

Great Place
We enjoyed our stay at Diane's place. The location in relation to Kona, beaches, snorkeling, farmers market and grocery stores was excellent. We appreciated the ground floor access and all the extra items such as snorkel gear, boards, chairs and lots of towels. The beds were super comfy and the pool was peaceful on down days. Great for couples and families alike.

Great value and location
We've had a great stay here. It was wonderful to have 2 bathrooms and 2 bedrooms. The 2nd bedroom isn't really a full bedroom, just a sliders and blinds to block the opening to the kitchen, but it was great for our son. He didn't have to sleep on a sofabed and we didn't have to convert a sofabed in the living room back and forth daily. We liked being in this part of town.
Be warned that there is no air conditioning in case you missed that in the description. I didn't notice that until after I booked it. But it honestly has not been a big issue. We've been comfortable with out it.
Diane has been very easy to communicate with.

Weekend Getaway
Beautiful getaway in Keahou. Diane is very nice, communicative, and made the check in process simple with all the necessary information.
Everything was as expected. Clean, comfortable, and the use of a grill, beach gear, and a cooler made things convenient.
Thank you!

South Keauhou
Location is great for around the island travel just outside the hustle of tourist attractions and traffic. Pool just steps away, very quiet community. Breakfast on the lanai with partial overviews is nice. Beds are comfortable and plenty of seating. The provided boogie boards and snorkeling equipment is a nice touch. Great swimming beach just a few miles away and snorkeling to the south. Just as a note, if you prefer AC this is not the place for you but Hawaii has the weather we come for so dive in and experience it as a local ad many of them do not hear or cool their homes..experience it as it is. With a W/D set up easy to keep clothing fresh along with linens. An excellent value for the island so give it a try.

Great location for fun in Kona
This property is the perfect location for a trip to Kona. It is close to shopping, restaurants and the bypass road if you want to head south to Captain Cook Bay or Volcanoes National Park. The pool is wonderful!
Be aware though that the 2nd bedroom is actually a Murphy bed that is separated from the kitchen by a set of blinds and from the living area by folding doors. It might not be private enough for two couples but fine for family.
The front lanai is spacious and if you are lucky you will be visited by a variety of birds including a Kalij pheasant.
It is a great value for the area and I would rent it again.
