FishHook is a timeless and unique “Hemingway style” cottage, offering an unforgettable Lake Lanier experience. A “stone’s throw” from the shoreline, this home sits less than 100 feet from the water’s edge at the mouth of a wide cove with deep water and main channel access. A private, two-story double slip dock is just steps away down a gently-sloping, grassed lot and is well-equipped for your stay on the water with plenty of options for lovers of sun and shade. There are both dining and bistro tables, swivel rockers, lounge chairs, and umbrellas, and at the end of the day, make sure you take a leisurely stroll through the 2 acres of Corp-owned property adjacent to our lot and celebrate the sunset!
Within minutes of your arrival, you'll realize that FishHook is truly a special place, full of character and nostalgic charm – a one of a kind lake cottage. Extensive stonework highlights the home’s exterior -- accenting a patio, fire pit and summer kitchen -- while the home’s tongue and groove wood interior plays up to an artful blend of vintage and new. Rustic lighting, rich wood and fabric accents, natural fiber rugs, and bamboo occasional pieces have been tastefully blended with new inspiration to create the signature "Hemingway" style. Original brick floors ... vaulted, suspended beam ceiling ... brick fireplace and louvered windows maintain the charm of this quintessential lakeside cottage while granite counter tops, stainless kitchen appliances and new hardwood floors in the bedrooms add a modern flair.
You’ll fall in love with the open floor plan and simple living of this single-story cottage. It's a layout that allows you to really enjoy the company of those you call "family". The kitchen, family room and dining room all open onto a spacious 10’ x 30’ screen porch complete with dining table and additional casual seating. The kitchen is fully-equipped, even for the most discerning of chefs, and meals can be served informally at the eat-in island with seating for 5, at the dining table with seating for 6, or alfresco on the porch. There are two beautifully appointed bedrooms – a king master with half bath and flat screen Smart TV and a second bedroom sleeping four in a twin over full bunk and separate twin bed. We absolutely loved this lake house and didn't want to leave! We pretty much lived on the screened in porch for the view to the lake. The kids loved going down to the dock and the view from the porch was perfect to keep an eye on them. We swam and fished off the dock and had a great time. The house was immaculately clean, very impressive. Debbie was very communicative, which was great. We will be back next summer!

Our family loved relaxing at FishHook! Our kids enjoyed fishing and swimming off the dock, and the adults loved relaxing by the water. Debbie is a wonderful host - excellent communication and very thoughtful. We hope to be back soon!

Place was wonderful. Amal Ln is literally only one lane wide, no shoulders, and we had to back out onto the street when we arrived because of a car coming the other way.
Otherwise it was as advertised.

Fish Hook is a fantastic getaway with access to the lake and boating/fishing. Everything you need is there for you and very clean and organized. The owner, Debbie is a pleasure to work with and responds very quickly to any of your questions (which can be hugely important)

So serene. Like "On Golden Pond"! House had great wooden beams in the huge living/dining area. Large kitchen with everything you'd need. Beds were comfortable. Loved the flagstone patio and fire pit. The water temp was just perfect and the doc was amazing. The grocery, bait store, and boat launch were close by. Debbie the owner, was very accommodating and thoughtful. We all loved it! 💕

Had a great time on a quick getaway on Lake Lanier. Property was more than we expected. Very private cove off the main channel so it was like we had the whole area of the lake to ourselves. I will definitely return to this VRBO in the future.

First off I would like to thank Debbie for being an excellent host. She was very responsive and the most thoughtful host we have ever had. The treats for us and our pup were a very welcoming touch.
Thank you so much for sharing your charming lake home with us. It is a little slice of heaven on the lake. The daybed on the screened porch overlooking the lake was my favorite place to relax. It was a short easy walk to the lake. We enjoyed the new dock. It made bringing our boat a breeze. We used Thompson Bridge Park to put in which was less than 10 minutes from the house. We had to use this boat ramp due to the length of our truck and trailer. There was also an area at the house to park our boat trailer which was very convenient. We will definitely be back!!

My husband and I are thinking about relocating to Georgia. We also wanted a few days to relax while we explored around Georgia. Fishhook was the perfect getaway!
The atmosphere in and around the home is very relaxing. We would sit out on the enclosed patio after dinner at sundown each evening to enjoy the view of the lake.
The home if very comfortable and has everything that you need, including great reception from the Wi-Fi!
Debbie was the perfect host and answered all of our questions. The house was very clean and welcoming.
I am hooked on FishHook. Our next trip to Georgia, we will be staying at FishHook!!!

First of all I would like to say the owner Debbie goes out of her way to mKe your stay the best possible. She is kind thoughtful and easy to communicate with.
The lake house was great, it’s very spacious, lots of seating for big families. The beds are comfortable. Screen porch has more seating. The views are great.
The cabin itself is stocked with everything you need. The wood burning fireplace was our highlight. It was so cozy. We will def go back when the weather warms up . Overall it was a wonderful stay. Can’t wait to return.

Beautiful place and location! The greeting upon arrival made it seem more personal even for our pup, nice touch. Comfortable and relaxing, so much that we extended our stay. So glad it was available and was just perfect for an awesome new years celebration, fireworks all around the lake for our viewing pleasure by the fire pit. We highly recommend Fish Hook and plan to return in the future. Thank you Debbie!

We were only able to stay two nights, but loved the house, and wish we had time to stay longer. It was very clean and well stocked with everything you would need. Our dog loved laying out on the screen porch.
We also took full advantage of the great firepit both nights. I highly recommend this place and would definitely book again if staying in the area.

The host welcomed us with a snack and waters in the fridge. The house was very clean and the furniture was nice. The house was well stocked with towels, blankets, cooking and cleaning supplies. There are forks for toasting marshmallows, coolers for drinks and other "party" supplies. We enjoyed our time there, especially mornings on the screened porch.
You will need to bring personal soaps and shampoos.
The walk to the dock is very steep. Definitely bring hiking poles if you have any knee issues. The drive in is one lane so try to get there before dark but we didn't run into anyone else on the road/drive.

My family loved the FishHook cottage on Lake Lanier. It is such a peaceful setting for a vacation. The view of the lake is beautiful.
The cottage is charming and equipped with everything you need for your stay. The fire pit is a nice feature.
The cottage is conveniently located and within an easy drive to restaurants and grocery stores.
Thanks for making our stay in Georgia so special. We hope to return for a longer visit next year.

The location, access, size, amenities were all perfect. We had a fire pit, outdoor swing bench, paddle board, kayak, fishing and swimming access all for our use. The cabin itself can accommodate many for social time with plenty of seating areas. There is a double deck floating dock that hAs even more social seating up top.
Sleeps many, but all share one small shower.
The owners were very welcoming even down to welcoming our little dog with treats. Very thoughtful.

You would never know that pets were allowed at the cottage, everything was super clean. Loved the screened porch & our dog spent lots of time looking out at the lake. It's also very convenient to the Botanical Garden and also restaurants that allow pets. We ate at Skogie's and 2 Dogs - the staff really catered to our dog and we enjoyed the food.

Can’t thank Debbie enough for the amazing trip! Everything about the house was perfect for our group of 6. House very clean and welcoming, beds comfortable, even though my husband preferred to sleep on the porch on the day bed with the cool crisp mountain air at night. House conveniently located to town/grocery stores. We used little river park boat ramp to launch our boat, which was super close to house. Plenty of room in driveway for our 24’ trailer. Kids had a lot of fun on the paddle board , and loved feeding the fish! Can’t wait to come back next year! Thanks for having us!

We stayed at Fishhook cabin for the last two weeks and what a blast! We had our four grandchildren with us and there wasn't a dull moment! They woke early and headed down to the sick to fish and jump off the dock. They swam, went kayaking, and paddle boarded until lunchtime them back out in the evening for more fishing. We rented a boat from Ducky's (Don's a great guy, meets you at a local park for pick up/ drop off, and is much more reasonable then gainsville marina)
And were able to find a spot in the lake close enough to go tubing without getting lost or having to go too far. The grocery store is just a few minutes away for those necessary ice cream runs and Helen is a nice place to visit to take a break from the sun.
Ms. Hemphill was easy to communicate with and replaced a broken table within a day

Fishhook is an amazing place I highly recommend for anyone looking for peace and honestly, transformation. You can find water sports nearby and hiking and waterfalls, but you can also simply connect with your family without ever leaving the property. This is a quiet place with a deep lake and a phenomenal cabin. Swimming, jumping, diving also in this deep lake, snorkeling, fishing, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding all without leaving the property! Amazing! My 12 and 13 year old and I had what we all agree was the BEST vacation ever! Our second best was Fishhook two years ago!
The Hemphill's are awesome! Debbie is responsive and thoughtful! My12 year daughter Eli and I bought more of the chicken salad from Ingles and she is now bound and determined to make it herself! ❤️
I honestly cannot recommend any other place higher after 15 summers of lake cabins from Wisconsin to Missouri to Tennessee. My kiddos and I are already discussing Fishhook as an every other year escape! We would be there constantly if not for the two day drive!

Everything in description was spot on. We stayed with our son and two granddaughters and some day visitors. The house is an absolute gem and so very quaint and cozy. The owners were so very easy to communicate with and welcomed us with special treats and note. Checkout was easy. The dock was amazing. We would 100% recommend this house. What a great lake cabin, we loved everything about it! The house was so well kept, very clean, comfy beds and linens, easy access to the lake and dock, with plenty of space for relaxing! This was a wonderful place for my family. The location is great. Close to amenities. Debbie was amazing in making sure we were taken care of! My kids said it was the best vacation ever. It’s fairly private, close to the water, and absolutely charming. By far one of the best places we have stayed. It was the complete package.

We had an amazing stay at Fish Hook. The cabin is super cute, comfortable, and clean. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. We loved the screened in porch and fire pit for great conversation, The dock was awesome for fishing, swimming and just hanging out. I loved that there was plenty of comfortable seating both inside and outside. The cabin is also in a quiet beautiful cove which was super relaxing!

Beautiful Lake House on Lake Lanier. We fished, swam, explored the woods and just relaxed. Our dog had so much fun running into the water and cooling off.
The house had everything we needed and we cooked all of our dinners each night.
