About this cabin rental

Ten seconds after coming through the front door of the cabin and looking through the cathedral ceiling- to- floor window, you will know why we call it Purple Haze. We love Jimi, but it's not about him. It's the amazing view out across the Appalachian Mountains, well into Virginia, evoking 'purple mountains majesty.' This spacious luxury log cabin home has 3 BR, 2.5 baths, plus loft. Located between Boone and Blowing Rock just 1.7 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. The main living area is showcased by a wall of windows and exposed beams accented by a corner stone fireplace with gas logs. Flat screen TV, hardwood floors, comfortable furnishings with plenty of seating. Amenities include AC, cable, broadband internet, smart TV, fully equipped galley kitchen with a coffee maker and a Keurig, and a dining room table that seats 8. Easy access to large deck with additional dining furniture, gas grill and hot tub. Master suite is located on the main level with TV, private bath and deck access. The loft has 2 twin beds, a leather sofa, reading nook and great views. Downstairs has a den with a queen size sleeping sofa, TV with video, 2 bedrooms with queen beds, a shared bathroom, laundry room, a covered deck with spectacular views.
(Winter visitors: 4 wheel drive or chains are highly recommended)
The convenient location offers something for everyone. Some of the best day hiking in the Blue Ridge mountains are within 15 minutes. Hike to great views or waterfalls with swimming holes. For endurance hikers, the cabin is 1/2 mile off the Mountain to Sea Trail. For cyclists, the Blue Ridge Parkway is 1.7 miles away, but there are also many mountain bike trails. White water rafting is available nearby.
The house is located on a rural, dead end, paved street that has very little traffic and is a great, safe environment for kids and pets. You are in the rural mountains, yet it is just a beautiful 15 minute drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway to the charming village of Blowing Rock. There you will find fine dining and great shopping. Or you may prefer the lively college town of Boone only 15 minutes away. Here you will find night-life and interesting, unique restaurants and shops.

Everything we needed for our weekend stay was provided. The location is very convenient to Tweetsie, Boone, an Blowing Rock. There was adequate parking ang plenty of space for our party of 7. Absolutely no complaints about anything.

My wife and I along with a few friends wanted to enjoy a long, quiet, peaceful weekend in the mountains... and we did! The setup of the house was perfect for our needs for sleeping, eating, and relaxing. The view from the back deck was very beautiful and peaceful. I would definitely go back.

We rented this cabin for Easter getaway with my 80 yr old father, husband and Aunt after loss of my mother and uncle. We needed a place that gave each of us our own space but also communal space. We wanted high quality atmosphere, quiet, solitude and close drive to nearby towns and trailheads. This was the perfect spot. We also don’t go anywhere without our dogs and the hosts were very gracious and accommodating. This was the perfect spot for some rest and relaxation. We had some fun adventures in Boone and Blowing Rock as well as, local hike down the road along Goshen creek and wonderful drives along Blueridge Parkway. Highly recommend.

This cabin is fantastic! Incredibly accommodating with all the favorite amenities plus even more thoughtful items like baby gates for all stair unit access. Magnificent views of the mountains from both decks. Will definitely try to stay here again in the future when visiting the area.

Everything was as described. Nice (unexpected) touch having Christmas decorations up. You have everything you need, especially if you are flying in and can't bring amenities. Communication was great.

We were a group of three friends coming from three different areas to enjoy the fall foliage and time together! The cabin was perfect. Great location to the parkway. We enjoyed time in the hot tub, grilling out and star gazing while sitting in the Adirondack chairs on the deck. Lounged around in the spacious living room and enjoyed coffee and conversation and the fireplace. Well stocked kitchen for making meals and nicely appointed bedrooms and bathrooms (except needs new pillows we all said they were too flat). Loved all the little touches and details throughout the cabin and of course the VIEW! :) Would absolutely stay here again!

As you walk in the door you can’t help but stare at the Mountain Views right off the deck. The cabin is setup for families to be able to spread out. It was easy to be together but also have places to find some quiet time to yourself. Location is close to Boone and Blowing Rock. It was easy to get to local hiking and other attractions. The roads would be quite difficult to navigate in winter weather so keep that in mind. We were fortunate to be there during peak color and it was gorgeous.

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at Purple Haze. The views are spectacular and the home was very clean and homey. Countless hiking trails are just a short drive away. Best of all, we could enjoy our weekend with our 4 legged kids. We will be back.

Purple Haze had everything mentioned in the description and more. Very, very nice house and perfect for our group. Both decks were fully enclosed so they were great for our little dog. There were 4 rocking chairs on the top deck, only 2 were shown in pictures. And there were 4 chairs on the bottom deck. The inside furniture was very comfortable with great views of the mountains.

We were very happy with our stay at the house. It was centrally located between Boone and Blowing Rock. The neighborhood was very quiet and the Mountain View was spectacular! Bottom floor stays very cold if air conditioning is on. We found we could turn it off when we went to bed and all levels could be comfortable. FYI. Coffee pot requires cone shaped filters not the round type. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at Purple Haze! The cabin is charming and we loved looking out at the amazing views while we rested, worked on puzzles and played games. The kids loved watching for the hummingbirds that visited the feeder and my father in law even saw deer one morning. There was more than enough room for four adults and two kids and everywhere we went was an easy distance from the cabin. Thank you so much for sharing your place with us!

Purple Haze had everything we could have asked for out of a mountain getaway. 2 decks with amazing views, a wonderful hot tub, quiet location, and nice, rustic feel. Close enough to town that its easy to get there but far enough away to give a secluded feel. Boone itself is great too, with a number of breweries. Linda was great to communicate with as well. We hope to be back soon!

Really want to thank the owner for allowing us to stay in their beautiful home. The area was so nice and quite and the views from the home facing the valley below are wonderful. There were deer in the back yard every morning and late afternoon, including a new fawn. The house was spotless and had everything needed to enjoy a nice relaxing week. Spent most of our time exploring the area and visiting all the points of interest. We would love to rent it again next year.

Overall this is a great pick. It is very clean, well stocked, and roomy, with a nice spot downstairs for the kids to have their own hangout spot. It has beautiful views and we got some amazing shots of storm clouds rolling over the lower elevations. Linda was also very responsive and accommodating. Overall A+
