We had such a lovely stay at Dolmen Cottage. Margaret and Jimmy were wonderful hosts. The cottage is beautifully presented with lots of personal touches. Margaret had freshly baked bread, cookies and homemade soup for us on arrival. Really great base for exploring Donegal. Would definitely recommend.
The phone signal is very patchy in this part of Donegal and the cottage does not have wifi. Not a negative, just something to bare in mind when you are planning your trip.

Lovely. It helps if you have a car. We were lucky to have family who drove us around. Margaret was also kind enough to drop us at the Folk Village.
The property was beautiful. There was a place to sit outside, you could hang your laundry, and take walks.

The little touches like the Guinness bread , milk and butter in fridge, biscuits. The information pack , the nice welcome, there was nothing not to like.
It’s at a very high level, not much that wasn’t up to scratch or to our standards

Margaret was a fantastic host and always available if anything was required. Loved the homemade shortbread biscuits and brown bread, also milk, butter and eggs in the fridge on arrival. House was extremely comfortable and spotless. Great attention to detail throughout and very well equipped kitchen. Small wood burning fire which we lit every night with the logs provided. Wifi and Netflix.

We felt home from the moment we arrived.

The accommodation is a well maintained and tastefully decorated house in an excellent location close to 'must visit' places in Donegal. It has all you need to feel at home. Everything is in a great condition. The welcome basket is above expectations: a homemade bread, milk, eggs, butter, tea, coffee, sugar, cereals and oat porridge. Margaret is a friendly and caring host who is always happy to give a hand. Can't recommend enough!

Excellent location with a fantastic host, the house was absolutely spotless and so comfortable
The only downside was having no WiFi or phone signal

One of the nicest places I’ve ever stayed. Its rural location is perfect for escaping the daily grind. Yet it is only a quick drive from Silver Strand beach and Glencolumbkille.
I loved the seaview from the picnic area. Even had a lovely visit from a neighbour’s friendly dog one evening!
Margaret left homemade bread and shortbread for my arrival, both of which were absolutely delicious. The interior was spotless and extremely comfortable. I loved the kitchen, it was so well-equipped and had plenty of tea/coffee etc. Really can’t recommend this property strongly enough!
Couldn’t find fault with it. I will definitely be back!!

Beautifully designed and sparkling clean Dolmen Cottage is the perfect place to stay in this area of Donegal. Just a short drive to all the sights and beautiful beaches to spend a summer day. Amazing hosts and homemade welcome biscuits - simply perfect in every way.

This is a gem of a property to stay at. Everything that you could possibly need to enjoy your stay is here. It is very clean, modern but cosy, and there is everything from washing machine, to beach towels, eggs and rashers in the fridge, plenty of coffee and tea and breakfast cereal - not to mention Margaret's own homemade bread which is fabulous. Her shortbread biscuits are also amazing. The kitchen is fully equipped and we made full use of Margaret's washing line as we were swimming everyday. The bathroom is fabulous and the bed is comfy. Margaret is a really great host - there to help if you need it (we did when we arrived as we got lost but on ringing our host she jumped in her car immediately and rescued us!) but she lets you get on with enjoying yourself. There is a space/table and chairs outside to enjoy the sunshine and plenty of room to park the car. There is a wood burner and satellite TV on which we enjoyed watching the Tour of France which my husband was delighted with. There is a lots to do in the area. We swam in all the many nearby beaches (which are all pretty fabulous), climbed Sliabh Liag both ways (amazing views but watch the weather), went on a boat trip and investigated the local archaeological artefacts. Waking up to the sound of the lambs and the birds sure beats the city anytime.
Nothing - as long as you are aware there is no phone coverage or WiFi access at the cottage. We went to the nearest village 5 mins drive away to pick phone messages.

We liked everything about the cottage. It was fully stocked and we were not left wanting. Some nice baked treats, fresh milk, and eggs suplied by Margaret were lovely. The house was cozy and was everything we wanted.
Mobile signal would have been handy but it was a short drive to get to some signal. However, this did add to the feeling of getting away from the city life.

Great location, 5 mins from village and the drive to the village is magical, the views are amazing! Margaret is an excellent host who greeted us when we arrived with beautiful Guinness bread and cookies to die for (honestly). Margaret really did look after every little detail required for the stay.
There wasn’t anything not to like about this place.

I liked everything about our stay at Dolmen Cottage. A beautiful, cosy, clean, modern, fully equipped home away from home, located in an idyllic location in which to explore the beautiful surroundings. Margaret and her husband are excellent hosts and lovely people. Oh and that Guinness brown bread...YUMMY.
That we hadn't it booked for longer. A home away from home.
