Room very comfortable and quiet. Breakfast enjoyable and varied. Location superb---right in centre of Leiden. Staff all friendly, especially with regard to help in storing our three bikes overnight.
Would certainly return

Staff were amazing, very helpful and cheerful, location fantastic.
The noise from the fan in the bathroom was continuous. The room was advertised as The Comfort Room which was totally misleading. The bed was old and uncomfotble, laminated flooring was cold and the room very sparce. It wasn't very comfortable

Pro - excellent location, very helpful staff, spacious room, very comfortable bed.
Overall, it's a charming, canal-side hotel near to bars and restaurants and close to the main shopping streets.
The train and bus stations are a short, 10 minute walk away. The number 854 bus goes direct to the Keukenhof gardens (book both in advance!). Near the hotel is the wonderful Hortus Botanicus botanical garden.
Con - our room was on second floor up two flights of stairs (no lift), room was a bit spartan, and view is only of fire escapes in a rear lightwell.
There are very few hotels in the heart of this bustling University town.

The site of the hotel itself. Not too far from station, market and shopping areas. Good walking and places to visit in easy distance.
No soap was provided for the first three days and the room was not cleaned or beds made on night one. The room described as luxury was sparsely furnished, on the third, which was not easily accessible due to a spiral staircase. the room, overlooked a fire escape and dirty and small courtyard. Not only was the telephone out of order and the electric socket faulty, tea or coffee was not provided on a daily basis but had to be collected from reception three flights downstairs.

It is pretty expensive if you are staying alone.

Location is absolutely perfect. Staff members are lovely. Got a room with lovely canal-view.
It's in the center so noisy in the evening. Not a problem for me, but might be something to consider.

I asked for a double duvet because we had 2 single duvets but the receptionist was extremely rude and refused.

The location
We specifically asked for a quiet room, which we received. That was a great advantage on Saturday night when the clubs' music was very loud. However, the room was very minimal, badly organised (the wardrobe in a corner)l and rather cramped. On the other hand, travellers from England are now poor, because of the collapse of sterling/Brexit, so perhaps we should not expect too much.

Optimal location to explore Leiden; ca 15 min walk from central station. Rooms are large and comfortable, but accessible via steep stairs only. Friendly staff available throughout the day. Breakfast worth its cost compared to alternatves. Possibilities to come together in the lobby and a bar, even without need to consume drinks.
Furniture was dusty despite every day cleaning service...

I really like the old style of the hotel. Very cool design. Also the customer service was great.
My room wasn't ready when I arrive. No more cleaners, no clean room. I had to wait and was moved to another room.
