Great location, beautifully restored with great taste in furnishings. Excellent friendly, helpful staff. Rachel has a real customer focused approach, as did all the staff. A very engaged owner, which is good to see. The food was really very good and we enjoyed two dinners in the brassiere. Quiet lounge area with views of the bridge and the sun setting. A great place to stay en route from south to north.
Nothing we didn’t like.
4.3
The history of the hotel. The decor following recent refurbishments. The furnishings were to a very high started. We really liked the bar and the breakfast.

Full of history
Amazing breakfast
Fabulous shower
Comfortable bed

The hotel has recently been refurbished and both our bedroom and all the communal areas were beautifully decorated.
We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel which were both excellent.
We really liked the hotel, which is conveniently located next to the A1, and will definitely return this year.
The village is pretty as well.
Nothing. We liked everything about the hotel.
4.3
comfy bed. clean room. fabulous breakfast.
there is a dog charge but we weren’t offered amenities.

Dinner menu was pretty good, but very little ‘green’ food I.e. vegetables etc on offer. Well cooked meat, but venison cottage pie very very salty. Smallish portions for quite high prices!
Anything other than standard coffee at breakfast was charged at a high figure of £5.50! We had stayed with you the previous week and this had not been the case. The standard coffee was so weak it was undrinkable. I had to order tea instead!
4.3
The property was good and well furnished. unfortunately the weather prevented us from seeing the grounds.
The room was remarkably quiet, comfortable and well stocked. This was a pleasant surprise given its close proximity to the A1.
The staff were generally helpful and positive.
There is a distinct lack of signage. This made it difficult to navigate the hotel. There were no signs indicating the rooms on a given floor, where the various function rooms were or the amenities. I understand the hotel has recently undergone major renovations but. they appear to have forgotten the signs.
The breakfast, while being good, was let down by uncleared tables, slow and mediocre service. Far too often the staff delivered a dish to a guest but returned empty handed to the kitchen despite cluttered, empty tables. All this happened while others were queuing.
The breakfast room was pet friendly. some may be happy with this but I not. I see no place for dogs while I am eating.

Beautiful old architecture and tasteful modernisation
Outside walk from room to the main hotel

Staff very friendly
No bedside lamps

Stunning location, large room. Clean and bright.
Breakfast was awful, bacon was a slab of fat, got order wrong, took ages to be served. Although big room.was basic. For the amount charged expected much better
4.3
The Reception staff were excellent - very helpful and a pleasure to deal with
The Room was high quality - show facilities were excellent and very comfortable bed
The Breakfast was high quality
Hotel gave us the name of a taxi firm to enable us to get to our event - the taxi firm was excellent
Overall good
The Bar was in somewhat disarray - no Rose wine and no champagne glasses (very odd)
Did appear to be struggling to serve the customers
4.3
Clean recently refurbished room, quality toiletries. Comfortable bed. Food was excellent and the service efficient without being intrusive. Plenty of free parking. Location in an attractive quiet village
No lift. Wi-fi reception very patchy on second floor. Some information on how to operate the large television would have been useful, as well as the hi-tech shower. Took us some time to find the switches for the bedside lights, maybe they should be labelled.
4.3
Breakfast, room good, but could use a little lighter duve in hot weather
no lightweight blanket

Very well restored and updated property in the beautiful local stone
4.3
beautiful setting and village. Lovely building and facilities
Felt the service at breakfast was poor…kept waiting for too long and had to ask for many things to be bought to the table that should have been there…eg had to stir tea with knife as no spoons
4.3
beautiful building and surroundings. High quality bedding and towels etc. Friendly and warm staff. Breakfast and meal all fabulous.
nothing I loved it all

Beautiful venue, very tastefully refurbished. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful. The food was delicious. The room was very comfortable with good facilities.
The food and drink were very overpriced for what you got. The room was not soundproofed very well so I could hear nextdoor's TV loudly.
4.3
lovely lounge/ bar area. good variety on dinner menu and breakfast menu. very close to burley house. love the Noble Isle soap and lotions.
4.3
The room was bright and spacious with a lovely seating area outside. The decor is very pleasant, the beds are comfy and the bathroom is modern and practical.
4.3
location, and quality of everything
not a lot
4.3
Nice welcome on arrival and we were upgraded which was a welcome surprise.
Room was large, great shower. Bottles of water provided. Comfortable bed. Spotlessly clean.
Food in restaurant was good.
Breakfast was excellent!
Staff in the restaurant were a little cold and aloof, as if they had been taught this is how to behave in a "posh" restaurant.
Temperature in the restaurant also a little on the cool side.
No tissues in the room, nowhere to hang anything in the bathroom.
4.3
I love this hotel. The location is wonderful, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the decor is beautiful.
I was in a deluxe room which was really cold, so I had to ask for an additional heater. The bathroom, which had an unsealed window with cold air draughts, had no heating at all which meant that it was permanently freezing cold. The bathroom also had no mirror- which I have never seen before- and no hooks to hang anything. Old buildings can be quirky, and I think the hotel is still finding it's feet after a big renovation, but overall I really like it.
4.3
Lovely decor in our room in the original building. Fabulous bath. Welcoming staff.Very nice atmosphere on a saturday night.
Was undecided about having the evening meal in the restaurant due to the menu choices. Chose instead a main course at the Paper Mills but was disappointed. Returned to the Haycock for the sweet!
4.3
very well presented
nothing in the welcome pack about the gym or signage for it
